Description
The 200 Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training at Tattvaa Yogashala in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, is a yoga teacher training for people who want to study Ashtanga yoga in a registered school beside the Ganges town known as a centre of yoga in India. This page is the entry point: the application form for the course, which also serves the school's other trainings and retreats.
Tattvaa Yogashala is a Yoga Alliance registered school (RYS) that has operated in Rishikesh since 2012. It offers Ashtanga and multi-style teacher training at 100, 200, 300 and 500 hour levels, along with Mysore style Ashtanga, an online Ashtanga teacher training and a range of retreats. The 200 hour Ashtanga course is the level most people choose as their first step toward teaching.
How Applying Works
The form takes about two minutes. You begin by choosing where and what you would like to study, since the available courses change with that choice. No payment or card details are requested at the application stage. A person at the school reads each application, and the team aims to reply within about 48 hours. Course fees are confirmed in that reply rather than on the form.
The form also lets you state an accommodation preference. A private room is one option. A couple sharing option is offered for guests arriving together. The school confirms the details of both once you have applied.
An early bird discount of 10 percent is offered to those who enrol three months before the start date. If you have questions about the course, the school invites you to ask before you commit.
The School and Its Teachers
Tattvaa Yogashala is led by its founder, Yogi Kamal Singh. The teaching team also includes Swami Omkarananda, who teaches psychokinesis and psychic healing, Sunil Sharma Ji, a pranayama and meditation teacher, and Yogi Upendra Ji, a yoga teacher. The school's pages honour Sri K Pattabhi Jois, the figure at the root of the Ashtanga method. Which of these teachers lead the 200 hour course specifically is something the school confirms when it replies to your application.
The school reports 26 years of experience and a rating of 4.9 across more than 200 reviews on its own channels, and 4.66 across 205 reviews on its Yoga Alliance profile.
Getting There
The school is in Swarg Ashram, near Ram Jhula, Rishikesh. There are three common routes:
- Fly from Delhi to Dehradun Airport (DED), then take a pre-booked taxi of about 45 minutes to the school.
- Take a private taxi from Delhi, which takes 5 to 6 hours and suits late arrivals or heavy luggage.
- Take a train from Delhi to Haridwar (4 to 5 hours), then a taxi of about 30 minutes.
Airport pickup can be arranged on request and is charged separately from the course fee.
Before You Go
Course fees and airport pickup are not bundled together: the fee is confirmed by the school for each application, and pickup is an additional charge. If you are unsure which level suits you, mention it in your application and the school can advise when it replies.
