About This Event

Description

A+Yoga is a week-long Ayurvedic yoga retreat with Ali Cramer at Xinalani Retreat Center on Mexico's Pacific coast, near Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. It is for yoga practitioners who want a stronger, more deliberate practice and a working introduction to Ayurveda, the traditional system of balance that shapes the daily rhythm here. The setting is intimate, tucked between jungle and sea.

What to Expect

Days are built around strong, intelligent yoga that develops heat, strength, mobility, and presence, and they are paired with meditation, breathwork, and Ayurvedic teachings and rituals. The intention, as the retreat describes it, is to recalibrate: to feel more at home in your body, more energized, and more attuned to your own natural rhythms.

The schedule balances rigor with room to breathe. A typical day runs like this:

- 7:00 to 7:30 am: morning coffee and snacks
- 7:30 to 8:00 am: breathwork and meditation
- 8:00 to 9:30 am: vinyasa practice
- 10:00 to 11:00 am: breakfast
- 2:30 to 3:30 pm: lunch
- Around 5:00 pm: evening practice in Ayurveda, restorative, or yin
- 7:30 to 8:30 pm: dinner

The long stretch between breakfast and lunch is unstructured. Guests use it to swim, hike, read, rest, or visit the spa. The retreat lasts seven nights.

About Ali Cramer

Ali Cramer is a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner, and author who has taught yoga and Ayurveda since 2003. Her work weaves ancient traditions with a contemporary, accessible approach, drawing on movement, meditation, ritual, philosophy, and conscious living. Her teaching spans vinyasa, meditation, yin, restorative, and Ayurveda. A longtime teacher of teachers, she has shared her work globally through retreats, trainings, and workshops. She wrote Modern Ayurveda: Rituals, Recipes, and Remedies for Balance, a guidebook for bringing Ayurvedic wisdom into everyday life.

The Setting

Xinalani Retreat Center sits on the oceanside, and guests arrive by boat. Airport transfers and the boat ride to the center are part of the stay. Three meals are served each day, described as nourishing and healthful, with coffee, tea, fruit, and granola available as well. Kayaks and snorkel equipment are provided for time on the water.

Accommodation is for seven nights and comes in several styles:

- Small Palapa, shared by four guests
- Deluxe Room with air conditioning, for two guests or one
- Eco Chic Suite, open air, for two guests or one
- Deluxe Room, open air, for one guest

Before You Go

The practice is strong and builds heat and strength, so it suits those with some yoga experience, around an intermediate level. No formal skill level is set, so anyone unsure of their fit should check with the center first. The retreat is taught in English.

The rate includes your chosen accommodation, all meals, daily yoga and meditation classes, airport transfers and the boat ride, kayak and snorkel equipment, and all taxes.

Common Questions

FAQs

The retreat is led by Ali Cramer, a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner and author of "Modern Ayurveda: Rituals, Recipes, and Remedies for Balance." She has taught yoga and Ayurveda since 2003 and is a longtime teacher of teachers. Her teaching draws on vinyasa, meditation, yin, restorative practice and Ayurveda.
The day opens with coffee and snacks, then breathwork or meditation, followed by a morning vinyasa practice. An evening session alternates between Ayurveda, restorative and yin. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at set times, and the hours between are left open for swimming, hiking, reading, resting or visiting the spa.
Beyond the asana, the week includes Ayurvedic rituals and teachings, and the evening practice is built around Ayurveda alongside restorative and yin work. The stated aim is to help you feel more attuned to your own natural rhythms. Ali's book "Modern Ayurveda" covers the same ground and is a natural pre-reading choice.
The price covers accommodation, three meals daily, coffee, tea, fruit and granola, daily yoga and meditation classes, airport transfers and the boat ride to the retreat center, all taxes, and use of kayaks and snorkel equipment. Rates per person start at $2,400 for a quadruple-occupancy Small Palapa. Double occupancy is $2,600 (Deluxe Room AC) or $3,100 (Eco Chic Suite Open Air). Single occupancy runs $3,350 (Deluxe Open Air), $3,675 (Deluxe AC) or $4,725 (Eco Chic Suite Open Air).
