About This Event

Description

This in-person 50-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, is led by Alison Réaume at Epic Yoga & Fitness. It is a yin yoga teacher certification for yoga teachers who want to deepen their understanding of Yin, and for dedicated practitioners who want to explore its energetic and structural layers. It also counts as continuing education for registered teachers.

The training looks at Yin through three lenses: the physical body, the nervous system, and the energetic or subtle body. It is built around the idea that something shifts when movement stops. Breath slows, attention deepens, and sensations and emotions that faster practices can hide begin to surface. Learning to recognize and guide those moments is the heart of the work.

What to Expect

The training runs across three weekends. Each weekend follows the same rhythm: Friday evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, Saturday from 12pm to 6pm, and Sunday from 11:30am to 5:30pm.

Study covers several areas:

- Meridian theory and energetic pathways. The framework that underpins Yin Yoga, including subtle body concepts and how energetic awareness shapes the intention of a practice.
- Nervous system informed practice. How long holds influence the autonomic nervous system, and how to guide in ways that support regulation, safety, and grounded awareness.
- Structural variation and functional alignment. How skeletal variation, compression, and stretch shape each posture, so you can adapt shapes for different bodies rather than forcing one alignment on everyone.
- Props, setup, and hands-on support. Working with bolsters, blocks, blankets, straps, and wall support, plus supportive adjustments that keep the quiet, spacious quality of Yin.
- Sequencing and teaching presence. Structuring classes beyond rigid formulas, and learning to read subtle cues in breath, posture, and energy, with responsive language and pacing.

Time is spent on awareness and perception as much as on shapes and sequencing. You also get teaching practice, with guidance on class design, language, and pacing long holds. To complete the certification, you take a short knowledge quiz and guide a 30-minute Yin practice.

About Alison Réaume

Alison Réaume is a yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and somatic educator who has spent more than 17 years teaching yoga and training teachers. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist and E-RYT 500, and she teaches in Maple Ridge and across the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver. Her work rests on the belief that yoga should make room for the person practicing it, and that the pose is only part of the practice.

Her own approach changed over time. After a long period of pushing and expecting her body to keep up, she had surgery at 28 to remove a large tumour, and recovery gave her a deep respect for the body's vulnerability and resilience. Her questions shifted from what she could make a body do to what we can learn by paying attention to it. That perspective shapes this training, which pairs traditional Yin teachings with a yoga therapy and somatic outlook.

The Setting

Classes are held in person at Epic Yoga & Fitness on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Before You Go

No years of Yin experience are required. A regular Yin practice is helpful, and the training builds understanding step by step. You do not need to be a yoga teacher, and you do not need an extensive anatomy background, since structural concepts are taught in a focused, practical way.

The training is offered as a Yoga Alliance YACEP program, so registered teachers can apply the hours toward continuing education. It is Module 3 of the Yin & Yang Yoga Teacher Training pathway, and it can also be taken as a standalone specialization. The cohort is small, with limited spaces, and payment plans are available. Sessions are taught in English.
