Intention-Setting Yoga: Finding Your Own Flow in 35 Minutes

Liza Colpa

Watch · 9

Liza Colpa's 35-minute intention-setting class, posted to her YouTube channel in January 2021 as the opening installment of a manifestation yoga series, begins without a single pose. For the first few minutes students sit or lie down, close their eyes, and are asked to picture themselves at their happiest, then to feel that happiness before writing down a short intention. Only after that does the class move into a flow of cat-cow, downward dog, plank, forward fold, and warrior. The idea underneath the whole session is specific and worth taking seriously: set the intention from the feeling, not from a to-do list, then let the body move at whatever pace serves that feeling instead of copying the teacher on screen.

Read · 7 sections

What does the class ask you to do before the first pose?

The opening is a visualization, and Colpa is precise about it. She asks students to pause the video, grab a paper and pen, and then settle in, seated or lying down if that feels better. After a few deep breaths she gives the prompt that drives everything that follows:

"Imagine yourself at your happiest, what are you doing, who are you surrounded by, what kind of people, what places, what place are you in, what do you have in your life, what has changed, what is different." (Liza Colpa, in the class, opening minutes, around 2:15)

The questions are concrete on purpose. Who is in the room, what the days look like, what has changed: this is not an abstract wish for "more" but a scene with people and places in it. Students are then asked to stay with the image and notice the feelings underneath it. Colpa names a few: whether you feel free, whether you feel light, whether you feel "in love or just simply blissful." Around 3:14 she asks students to hold that feeling as the source of the intention they will write.

For anyone who has tried goal-setting and dropped it, the sequencing is the interesting part. The vision comes first, the emotional texture comes second, and only then does the writing happen. The intention is supposed to carry the feeling, not just the outcome.

Why start with a feeling instead of a goal?

Colpa's examples of what an intention might contain are practical: "maybe surrounding yourself with positive people or moving to a different place eventually or getting into a place of abundance or financial security." Each one is a concrete life area, but the instruction is to write a "simple intention," not a checklist. Once the page is filled, students fold it and place it under their yoga mat, a small physical ritual that turns the page into an object that stays with the practice.

That folded paper stays in view for the rest of the class. In the first child's pose, Colpa asks students to bring the feeling from the intention back into view, "knowing you are worthy of all blessings," and to remember that they are being guided. The emotional thread running through the whole class is that the intention is not a demand placed on the universe in a stressful voice. It is closer to a settled orientation, something you return to between poses.

It is worth being honest about what the video does and does not establish. This is one teacher's framework for practice, built on her own belief in manifestation. The class does not present research or evidence that writing an intention changes outcomes, and it does not claim to. What it offers is a repeatable structure: picture, feel, write, fold, move.

What is Colpa's own story behind the practice?

Around the five-and-a-half-minute mark she describes how she came to the method. She says she used this kind of intention-setting "a lot" during a period when she "really needed a lot of change," specifically wanting to move out of an old environment into a new one and have a yoga space of her own. Then comes the line that gives the class its personal charge: "Little did I know I would be a teacher, but a lot of it manifested along the journey."

That is the only personal history she offers, and it is worth reading as her account rather than a verified biography. Its value for a viewer is structural. She is describing a practice tested against a specific life shift, a move and a change of work, rather than an abstract philosophy. The affirmation she pulls for the session, "I always trust the direction of the universe and know I am being guided," is the same stance she asks students to take into the poses: trust the process, keep the intention close, and let the next step arrive.

How does "at your own pace" actually work in the poses?

The phrase recurs throughout, and it is the class's central instruction. Colpa begins with cat-cow and then invites students to trace circles with the heart, rounding to the right or left, and to take the movement further into the hips or ankles if it feels good. Her reasoning, in her own words, is that when people start to create a vision for themselves they often "try to emulate a lot of other people," to be the same as everyone else on screen. Her invitation is the opposite: "to not be the same, to be your unique self."

"We're not working hard, we're not trying to achieve, we're just trying to set the intention that works for us." (Liza Colpa, in the class, around 9:52)

This is where the class departs from a lot of power-flow or performance yoga. There is no instruction to hold a pose longer, deepen a stretch, or reach a particular shape. Students pedal their legs in downward dog "at your own pace," repeat plank into downward dog for a couple of breaths, and sway side to side in a semi-wide forward fold. The instruction to pace yourself is repeated so often that it becomes the real lesson: the practice is a place to notice what your body wants at this moment, not to prove anything.

For newer students, that permission can be quietly important. For experienced practitioners, the reminder to stop comparing and to go "out of your own way" is a useful reset. Either way, the emphasis is on listening rather than output.

What does the flow look like from start to finish?

After the opening ritual, the sequence moves through the standard shapes of a beginner-accessible vinyasa-style session: table, cat-cow, downward dog, plank, forward fold, and then a standing sequence. Around the 25-minute mark Colpa moves students into a peaceful warrior and a sequence of warrior postures, cueing them to lengthen through the gaze and sweep the fingertips along the leg. At about 25:40 she offers a reassurance that sums up the session's tone: "you are exactly where you are meant to" be.

The class then returns to child's pose, the same shape it opened in, around 27:55, giving students a bookend. The final section, starting near 33:08, is a stillness she invites students to keep "for as long as" feels right, where they can hold the intention in mind without doing anything with it. That structure matters. The intention that was written at the start is not left behind in the middle of the session; it is revisited at the start, in the middle, and at the close.

What is worth taking off the mat from a class like this?

There are three ideas here that translate well beyond a yoga class. The first is that writing an intention by hand, after visualizing a specific scene, gives it a concreteness that a vague wish does not have. The second is the separation of feeling from outcome: asking "what does this feel like" before "what do I want to get" shifts the intention from pressure to orientation. The third is the repeated invitation to stop comparing your practice to someone else's, a note that applies well outside the studio.

There are also limits to be clear about. The method rests on Colpa's own belief in manifestation, and the video does not test or prove that belief. Those who find the framework useful may get a meaningful ritual out of it; those who do not can still take the movement and breath cues on their own terms. The class description includes a standard disclaimer asking people with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, pregnancy, or recent surgery to consult a doctor before practicing, and to be certain of their ability before attempting heated yoga. That advice is worth following before any session.

Where to go from here

If the class resonates, Colpa points to her longer offering as the next step. Her online course, "Manifesting A Happier and Healthier Life," is hosted on Insight Timer, and she also shares meditations there. Her website is lizacolpa.com, and she is active on Instagram at @lizacolpa. The video itself is a good first stop: pick a quiet 35 minutes, keep a pen beside the mat, and let the first five minutes do what they are designed to do. Then move at the pace that feels like yours.

[0:00] hi my name is lisa and this is your

[0:03] manifestation yoga series

[0:06] [Music]

[0:12] so i just finished getting done with the

[0:15] beginner's

[0:17] alignment series and i really wanted to

[0:19] dive

[0:20] into a manifestation yoga series i think

[0:24] a lot of students that i practice with

[0:28] people that i connect with

[0:30] have really benefited from me speaking

[0:32] about my journey

[0:33] with manifestation and my journey with

[0:35] using it as a tool in my yoga practice

[0:38] to really create a life that i deserve

[0:40] and to continue to do so it continues

[0:43] to come on in that tool and help me out

[0:46] so um i created a whole course on it on

[0:49] insight timer which i'll link

[0:51] in the bio down below but i also wanted

[0:54] to just

[0:55] really incorporate yoga into it as well

[0:58] so you have this series

[1:00] you get the taste but also you gain more

[1:02] knowledge and how you can use

[1:04] manifestation as a tool within your

[1:06] practice

[1:07] so for this class i am going to ask you

[1:10] to really pause the video really quickly

[1:13] and get a paper

[1:14] and a pen

[1:18] and once you do that go ahead and

[1:21] close your eyes and come to a

[1:23] comfortable seated position but for this

[1:25] exercise you can also try

[1:27] lying on down if you feel more

[1:29] comfortable with that

[1:30] and take a nice big deep inhale into the

[1:33] body

[1:36] and exhale

[1:42] take a nice big deep inhale

[1:47] and exhale

[1:56] last big deep inhale

[2:00] and exhale

[2:04] i want you to go ahead and imagine

[2:05] yourself at your

[2:08] happiest what are you doing

[2:11] who are you surrounded

[2:15] by what kind of people what places

[2:20] what place are you in

[2:23] what do you have in your life what has

[2:25] changed

[2:26] what is different

[2:36] go ahead really envision that happiness

[2:53] and while envisioning that happiness i

[2:55] want you to notice the feelings behind

[2:58] that happiness how do you

[3:03] feel

[3:11] noticing if you feel free noticing if

[3:13] you feel

[3:14] light noticing if you feel in love

[3:18] or just simply blissful

[3:38] and when you are absolutely ready go

[3:40] ahead and

[3:41] set an intention

[3:45] based upon this feeling that you have

[3:48] this vision

[3:49] for your life you at your happiest

[3:54] let's open this practice with one loud

[3:58] om a nice big deep

[4:02] inhale for home

[4:15] [Music]

[4:25] and when you are absolutely ready

[4:30] gently float the eyes open

[4:34] now with that vision super clear within

[4:36] your mind

[4:38] go ahead and write down a simple

[4:40] intention for yourself

[4:42] maybe you also want to reflect on that

[4:43] vision and add something like that maybe

[4:46] surrounding yourself with positive

[4:48] people or moving to a different

[4:49] place eventually or getting into a place

[4:51] of abundance or financial security

[4:54] so whatever that intention is or

[4:56] whatever you want to jot down go ahead

[4:57] and pause this

[4:58] video and you can write it down

[5:03] and when you are done writing down that

[5:06] intention go ahead fold it on

[5:09] up and place it

[5:13] underneath your yoga mat i did this

[5:17] a lot a lot a lot a lot

[5:20] when i was in a place in my life where i

[5:22] really needed a lot of

[5:24] change specifically i really wanted to

[5:25] move out on my old environment into a

[5:27] new one and

[5:28] have a yoga space little did i know i

[5:31] would be a teacher

[5:32] but a lot of it manifested along the

[5:35] journey

[5:36] which brings me to the affirmation card

[5:38] for today

[5:41] i always trust the direction of the

[5:43] universe and know

[5:44] i am being guided

[5:47] i love it so with that let's go ahead

[5:51] and tune on into the power manifestation

[5:53] embodying it within our practice let's

[5:56] start out in a child's pose

[5:58] so go ahead come on to the hands and

[6:00] knees

[6:01] come to sit on to the heels of the feet

[6:04] walking the fingertips forward

[6:05] bowing on down i want to invite you to

[6:08] keep that intention that's right

[6:09] underneath that yoga mat the feeling

[6:11] that you get from that intention that

[6:13] was connected to the vision of happiness

[6:15] for your life

[6:16] i want you to really bring that into

[6:18] view as you're in child's pose knowing

[6:20] you are worthy of all blessings

[6:22] that you are worthy of it and you are

[6:24] being guided by the universe you are

[6:26] being guided by the universe to find

[6:28] this

[6:29] video take a nice big deep inhale

[6:34] and exhale side out

[6:39] last big deep inhale

[6:43] and exhale

[6:49] from here go ahead slowly come into your

[6:53] cat so we're rounding in the upper back

[6:55] we're grounding down through the

[6:56] fingertips and the base of the knuckles

[6:58] the knees are underneath the hips are

[7:00] pressing the floor away

[7:02] and then inhale curl the toes under send

[7:04] the belly on down

[7:05] send the heart through the gateway of

[7:06] the hands roll the gaze forward and up

[7:08] exhale tops the feet to the floor around

[7:10] and the upper back chin comes towards

[7:12] the chest

[7:14] inhaling belly down gripping through the

[7:17] fingertips sending the fingertips

[7:19] or the energy of the hands towards the

[7:20] feet feet towards the hands

[7:23] exhale tap

[7:27] last time inhaling

[7:32] and exhaling

[7:37] and when you're absolutely ready take a

[7:39] nice big deep inhale send the belly on

[7:41] down really open up in your heart space

[7:44] exhale round and the upper back chin

[7:46] comes towards the chest

[7:47] let's get creative let's begin to start

[7:49] to trace circles

[7:51] with the heart maybe rounding over to

[7:54] the right or to the left so i do this a

[7:56] lot in my yoga classes i always begin in

[7:58] cat cows just because i think it feels

[8:00] so good on the spine

[8:01] but i specifically like to tell people

[8:04] within my

[8:04] yoga classes specifically my

[8:06] manifestation yoga classes to move at

[8:08] your own pace

[8:10] because when you start out creating your

[8:11] own vision sometimes when you send

[8:13] intention you try to emulate a lot of

[8:16] other people you

[8:16] try to tend to be the same as other

[8:19] people and i invite you to not be the

[8:21] same

[8:21] to be your unique self to

[8:24] do something that's different than what

[8:27] maybe you're being

[8:29] shown all the time or maybe you see all

[8:31] the time

[8:32] especially if it works for you if it

[8:34] feels good so keep exploring maybe even

[8:37] take that movement into the hips maybe

[8:40] even the

[8:41] ankles i really want you to

[8:44] get out of your own way

[8:47] and explore this practice

[8:51] breathing in inside it out

[9:00] last big deep inhale

[9:03] and exhale

[9:05] [Applause]

[9:07] go ahead slowly come back to

[9:10] a nice neutral tabletop position

[9:13] spreading the wings of the shoulder

[9:14] blades nice and wide

[9:15] drawing the navel on in nice long flat

[9:18] back

[9:18] then go ahead crawl toes under press

[9:20] into the hands and feet come into your

[9:22] first

[9:22] downward facing dog reaching the heels

[9:25] towards the back of the mat

[9:26] relaxing the elbows as you really point

[9:29] the index fingers forward to really

[9:31] open up in the shoulder blades smile

[9:34] through the collar bones

[9:35] sending the hips up and back as you draw

[9:37] the navel on in

[9:39] begin to pedal out the legs again at

[9:41] your own pace so again i'm going to be

[9:43] saying this

[9:44] a lot throughout this class at your own

[9:46] pace at your own pace at your own pace

[9:48] because again it's within the power of

[9:51] intention

[9:52] setting to really find something that

[9:54] works for you that is unique

[9:57] to you we're not working hard we're not

[9:59] trying to achieve

[10:00] we're just trying to set the intention

[10:02] that works for us something that we

[10:04] need last big deep inhale

[10:08] and exhale when you're absolutely ready

[10:11] go ahead come forward into your plank

[10:13] posture so send the shoulders over the

[10:15] wrist walk the feet a little bit

[10:17] back maybe walk the hands a little bit

[10:20] forward to widen the stance

[10:22] a little bit more take a nice big deep

[10:24] inhale

[10:25] exhale press up and back downward facing

[10:28] dog

[10:28] great job pedal out the legs again at

[10:31] your own pace

[10:32] inhale and exhale go ahead squeeze the

[10:36] inner thighs and towards each other as

[10:38] you press the floor away gripping down

[10:40] through the fingertips

[10:41] relax the elbows just slightly take a

[10:43] nice big deep inhale

[10:45] exhale pressing up and back

[10:47] [Applause]

[10:48] [Music]

[10:50] own pace go ahead move into plank pose

[10:57] and then downward dog and keep this up

[11:00] for about

[11:00] two more breaths plank into downward dog

[11:03] at your own pace

[11:10] last breath here

[11:16] come meet me in downward facing dog when

[11:18] you have finished up

[11:20] your rounds go ahead gaze forward to

[11:24] the hands and see if we can step the

[11:26] right foot

[11:27] to the outside of the right hand the

[11:29] left foot to the outside of the left

[11:31] hand and come into a nice

[11:33] semi-wide legged forward fold sway from

[11:36] side to side

[11:37] take a hold of opposite wrists forearms

[11:38] or elbows

[11:40] and just sway the head yes way ahead and

[11:43] no allow the body to be loose

[11:45] blubber the lips to release the jaw

[11:50] just let it go

[11:52] [Music]

[11:54] take a moment to just be grateful to be

[11:56] here

[11:58] go ahead slowly release the hands on

[12:00] down into this

[12:01] humbling posture of forward fold just

[12:05] let the spine

[12:07] create some gentle space between the

[12:10] vertebrae

[12:12] and when you're absolutely ready go

[12:14] ahead heel toe

[12:16] the feet together come into your flat

[12:18] back so big toes can be

[12:20] together heel slightly separated or the

[12:22] feet can be hip

[12:23] distance apart come up onto the

[12:26] fingertips draw the navel on in for a

[12:28] flat back

[12:29] or slide the hands towards the knees for

[12:31] your flat back

[12:32] take a nice big deep breath in exhale

[12:35] release forward fold

[12:39] inhale to your flat back and

[12:42] exhale to release

[12:45] inhale to flat back and exhale to

[12:49] release

[12:51] at your own pace for two more breaths

[13:02] and when you're ready go ahead slowly

[13:05] release all the way into forward fold

[13:08] bring the fingertips in alignment with

[13:10] the toes i'm actually going to walk my

[13:11] feet up bring my fingertips in alignment

[13:13] with the toes gently step the left foot

[13:15] back

[13:16] go ahead hug the inner thighs and

[13:18] towards each other and just

[13:19] gaze forward coming up onto those

[13:22] fingertips take a nice big deep inhale

[13:25] exhale step back into plank pose we're

[13:27] slowly going to build

[13:28] this posture of the sequence up take a

[13:32] nice big deep

[13:33] inhale exhale shift the weight forward

[13:36] onto the tippy toes

[13:37] knees chest chin inhaling into cobra

[13:42] exhale downward facing dog

[13:44] [Music]

[13:46] take a nice big deep inhale

[13:50] side out

[13:54] go ahead inhale the left heel all the

[13:56] way up towards the ceiling

[13:58] step the left foot in between the hands

[14:00] or help that leg forward

[14:02] gaze forward gazing forward towards that

[14:05] vision

[14:05] of yours towards that destiny of what

[14:08] you want for your life

[14:09] big deep inhale exhale step the right

[14:12] foot to meet the left forward fold

[14:14] inhale sweep the arms out to the side

[14:16] hands come to prayer

[14:18] up above the head bring the thumbs on

[14:21] down

[14:22] and release great job let's do that

[14:25] again

[14:25] inhale sweep the hands up exhale fold

[14:29] forward

[14:31] inhale flat back exhale this time step

[14:35] the right foot back

[14:37] gaze forward towards your destiny

[14:39] towards that intention breathing in

[14:41] exhale step back into plank stay strong

[14:44] stay grounded stay rooted

[14:46] in that vision inhale exhale shift the

[14:49] weight forward knees chest chin

[14:51] inhale cobra exhale downward dog

[15:00] inhale exhale

[15:02] [Applause]

[15:04] go ahead inhale see if you can reach the

[15:06] right heel up towards the ceiling and

[15:08] three-legged dog

[15:09] draw the neon in step the right foot in

[15:11] between the hands or help it forward

[15:14] go ahead see if you get the left heel

[15:16] over

[15:17] the toes so that the heel is in

[15:19] alignment with the toes inhale to gaze

[15:21] on

[15:21] up and then on an exhale go ahead step

[15:25] the left foot to meet the

[15:26] right inhale to sweep the arms out to

[15:30] the side

[16:14] exhale inhale lift the left heel up

[16:18] draw the knee towards the nose step it

[16:20] forward help it on forward inhale

[16:24] exhale right foot next to the left

[16:29] inhale rise

[16:32] hands to prayer and release

[16:35] great job go ahead interlace fingers

[16:38] above the head

[16:39] reach and just sway from side to side

[16:41] again at your own pace

[16:43] right left left right it doesn't matter

[16:48] when you're absolutely ready go ahead

[16:50] slowly

[16:51] see if you can reach the palms up

[16:53] towards the ceiling send the hands

[16:55] all the way on down step the left foot

[16:57] on back

[16:58] hug the inner thighs in towards each

[17:00] other grounding down through the feet

[17:02] and just see if you can sweep the hands

[17:04] on up

[17:06] excellent see if you can send that right

[17:08] hip back as

[17:09] the left hip moves forward staying

[17:11] grounded gazing forward can you envision

[17:15] what you want for yourself you at your

[17:17] happiest

[17:18] can you feel the intention underneath

[17:21] that yoga mat

[17:23] take a nice big deep inhale exhale send

[17:25] the left hand forward as the right hand

[17:27] moves on back in a twist

[17:29] wringing out whatever doesn't serve you

[17:31] send the left hand on down to the inside

[17:33] of that right foot

[17:34] and just trace some circles here that

[17:37] may have been a hard transition for you

[17:40] but that's okay have fun with it

[17:44] trust the direction the universe is

[17:47] guiding you in

[17:49] and you can always feel free to take a

[17:50] child's pose at any

[17:52] point two more breaths at your own pace

[17:56] playing around with this arm circle

[18:00] big deep inhale exhale

[18:04] perfect sweep that right hand all the

[18:06] way on up

[18:07] then go ahead swim the right hand

[18:09] forward

[18:10] pivot the left foot down onto the yoga

[18:12] mat and come

[18:13] into warrior two

[18:17] nice the nice little flow go ahead reach

[18:20] the right fingertips forward flip the

[18:22] right hand bring it up and back into

[18:23] peaceful warrior

[18:25] and on an exhale send the right forearm

[18:27] on down

[18:28] to the right leg moving at your own pace

[18:30] peaceful warrior

[18:34] into extended side angle

[18:38] utita parvo nasana

[18:42] perfect keep moving at your own pace

[18:47] breathing in sawing it out

[18:52] two more breaths exhale

[18:57] when you're absolutely ready go ahead

[18:59] come back into

[19:01] warrior two see if you can straighten

[19:04] the right leg

[19:05] and then go ahead draw the energy

[19:08] inward so that you can come up onto the

[19:10] heel of the right foot

[19:12] and then turn the heels in as you turn

[19:15] the toes outwards

[19:16] i'm going to go ahead and turn to face

[19:18] you so my butt isn't towards you

[19:22] take a nice big deep inhale bring the

[19:23] first finger and thumb together

[19:26] exhale bend the elbows and the knees

[19:27] sigh out whatever doesn't serve you

[19:31] inhale exhale

[19:34] [Applause]

[19:36] lines breath maybe inhale

[19:39] exhale breathing in

[19:43] exhale last big deep inhale

[19:48] exhale perfect

[19:51] straighten the legs bring the hands up

[19:53] above the head keep the feet nice and

[19:55] grounded

[19:56] and then go ahead then up and over and

[19:58] trace circles

[20:00] over to whichever side feels good we're

[20:03] gonna do the other side for four breath

[20:05] cycles

[20:06] so why do i incorporate a lot of circles

[20:09] in intention

[20:10] setting because i find a lot of the

[20:12] times we come full circle

[20:14] whether we set the intentions or whether

[20:16] the intentions finally manifest it

[20:19] becomes a full circle

[20:20] so we're inviting that energy on in

[20:24] breathing in saying it out

[20:28] last big deep inhale exhale take it into

[20:31] the opposite direction

[20:33] for again about four breaths it was on

[20:35] that side four to five breaths

[20:37] and just have fun this is great for the

[20:39] obliques keep the inner

[20:41] thighs hugging towards each other

[20:44] keep drawing the navel on in you may

[20:47] be you may be sweating that's okay

[20:51] two more breath cycles

[20:56] last breath cycle here and then go ahead

[21:00] finish with the hands down to the yoga

[21:02] mat

[21:04] turn the toes to face forward make sure

[21:06] the heels are in alignment with each

[21:08] other

[21:08] inhale flat back exhale fold

[21:16] great job take a nice big deep inhale

[21:21] and exhale

[21:23] [Applause]

[21:23] [Music]

[21:27] layer in your ujjayi breathing

[21:42] take a nice big deep inhale

[21:46] exhale

[21:47] [Applause]

[21:50] go ahead slowly walk the hands back over

[21:52] to that front

[21:53] right foot turn onto the heel the right

[21:56] foot come

[21:56] on to the ball of the left foot give

[21:57] yourself a nice little hamstring stretch

[22:00] inhale lengthen gaze forward at your

[22:03] future

[22:04] feel the intention underneath your yoga

[22:06] mat

[22:07] exhale nose to knee

[22:15] [Music]

[22:22] keep lengthening through the sides of

[22:24] the body keep sending the nose down to

[22:26] the legs

[22:27] last big deep inhale exhale bend all the

[22:30] way on

[22:30] into that left knee step it back plank

[22:34] posture big deep breath in exhale go

[22:37] through your knees

[22:38] chest chin inhaling

[22:42] exhale downward dog

[22:46] ready to bring that into the opposite

[22:47] side

[22:49] take a nice big deep breath in

[22:53] sigh it out go ahead see if you can draw

[22:57] the knee towards the nose

[22:58] step the left foot in between the hands

[23:00] hug the inner thighs and towards each

[23:01] other

[23:02] sweep the fingertips all the way on up

[23:04] into that

[23:05] crescent lunge go ahead inhale

[23:08] really lengthen through the sides of the

[23:09] body draw the navel in

[23:11] hug the ribs together and down and

[23:13] exhale twist

[23:14] send the right hand forward as the left

[23:16] hand moves on

[23:18] back take a nice big deep inhale

[23:24] exhale when you're ready go ahead send

[23:27] the right hand to the inside

[23:29] of that left foot and just trace some

[23:35] circles

[23:38] three more breath cycles moving at your

[23:41] own

[23:42] pace keep the alignment in the legs nice

[23:45] and strong

[23:48] and maybe you're feeling that tricep

[23:51] burning

[23:52] and that's okay

[23:57] last big deep inhale

[24:01] exhale go ahead and reach the left hand

[24:04] all the way on up windmill the left hand

[24:07] forward pivot the right foot down onto

[24:09] the yoga mat come into warrior

[24:12] two take a nice big deep inhale

[24:15] exhale really bend on into that left

[24:18] knee

[24:18] so that the femur is in alignment with

[24:20] the yoga mat hug the inner thighs in

[24:22] towards each other

[24:23] reach the left fingertips forward flip

[24:25] the left hand bring it up and back peace

[24:27] warrior

[24:29] exhale extend its side angle

[24:33] inhale peaceful warrior

[24:37] exhale uti

[24:44] and now and exhale

[24:48] at your own pace for three more breath

[24:51] cycles

[24:56] just breathe through it even if it's

[24:58] hard work

[24:59] trust me setting intentions are already

[25:02] a lot of work

[25:03] thinking really hard what you need and

[25:05] what you want for your life

[25:08] last breath

[25:13] beautiful go ahead slowly rise

[25:16] all the way on up release the hands see

[25:19] if you could draw the heels that energy

[25:21] on

[25:22] in so heels in toes out bring the hands

[25:25] to prayer

[25:25] bend all the way on into the knees and

[25:28] just

[25:29] draw the navel in and come to

[25:32] envision your intention right here

[25:35] even though you may not be where you

[25:38] want to be

[25:40] you are exactly where you are meant to

[25:42] be

[25:46] trust the universe guiding you every

[25:48] step of the way

[25:50] take a nice big deep inhale

[25:53] exhale bend your absolute deepest

[25:58] lift all 10 toes off the yoga mat and

[26:00] then press

[26:01] into the feet and release turn

[26:04] those right toes to face forward turn

[26:07] the left toes to face on forward

[26:09] and then go ahead see if we can come to

[26:12] frame the left foot

[26:13] put all of your weight into the left

[26:15] foot and the hands and see if you can

[26:16] hop on to the ball

[26:18] of that right foot and then go ahead

[26:20] begin to straighten

[26:21] that left leg inhale lengthen and exhale

[26:25] fold

[26:26] now i did i did the trick of the eye

[26:30] i kind of came to my left foot even

[26:33] though you guys are on your right foot

[26:35] so i'm just going to switch my right

[26:36] foot forward it doesn't matter

[26:40] just keep inhaling to lengthen and

[26:42] exhaling bending over that left

[26:44] leg ignore me

[26:47] and again your vision your intention

[26:50] your journey is your own it's unique

[26:52] as is mine so we have to always

[26:56] remember that even in a yoga class

[26:59] a teacher may be doing something

[27:01] different than you and that is okay

[27:03] remember that at the end of the day you

[27:06] are your greatest teacher

[27:08] last big deep inhale exhale

[27:27] two more breaths breathing in

[27:30] sigh it out inhale lengthen

[27:34] exhale fold just a little bit deeper and

[27:36] then

[27:37] go ahead inhale to gaze forward bend on

[27:40] into the right knee step back

[27:42] if you have chaturanga in your practice

[27:44] go ahead

[27:45] lower on down with me for chaturanga

[27:48] and then upward dog

[27:52] coming into downward dog and then take

[27:55] a well-deserved child's pose back

[27:59] to where we started coming full circle

[28:04] breathing in saying it out

[28:11] feel the intention underneath your yoga

[28:15] mat

[28:20] feel yourself here right now

[28:22] [Music]

[28:26] but keep your mind envisioning what it

[28:30] is you want

[28:31] accepting the present moment staying

[28:33] present

[28:35] keeping your eyes ahead to the future

[28:39] to what you will be creating

[28:43] last big deep inhale

[28:46] and exhale

[28:50] go ahead come to sit on to the heels of

[28:52] the feet

[28:53] let's take a nice little gentle twist to

[28:56] close out this practice

[28:58] and how to sweep the legs on or i should

[29:00] say inhale to sweep the arms on

[29:02] up

[29:06] feel a nice length in the sides of the

[29:07] body as you reach the fingertips on up

[29:10] exhale send that left hand

[29:14] to the right knee as the right hand

[29:15] comes behind you

[29:17] inhale lengthen and exhale to twist

[29:24] breathing in inside

[29:28] out

[29:28] [Music]

[29:34] from here take that right hand to the

[29:38] left side

[29:39] as the left hand wind windmills up

[29:42] and over inhale lengthen

[29:46] and exhale to twist

[29:48] [Music]

[29:52] exhale place the hands onto the knees ah

[29:55] roll on to the side

[29:56] sweep the legs in front if you have

[29:58] tight tops of the feet

[30:00] like me that is a great stretch for the

[30:02] tops of the feet

[30:04] go ahead shake out the legs give

[30:07] yourself a gentle

[30:08] massage for all the hard work that you

[30:11] have

[30:12] done in these legs that carry you

[30:14] wherever you need to go

[30:16] another metaphor go ahead reach the

[30:19] fingertips forward

[30:20] and see if you can slowly roll all the

[30:23] way down

[30:24] vertebrae by vertebrae one at a time all

[30:28] the way down

[30:29] onto your back

[30:33] hug the knees and towards the chest

[30:38] and just rock from side to side giving

[30:40] yourself a hug thanking yourself for all

[30:42] that you have done

[30:43] all that you do

[30:47] this is just a little taste of what you

[30:49] can do when it comes to manifestation

[30:52] and yoga embodying the element

[30:55] of or the energy of manifestation

[30:58] you can explore so much more on it but

[31:00] just trust that intention

[31:02] trust your vision and let go let the

[31:04] universe guide you

[31:07] go ahead bring the feet on down bring

[31:10] the soles of the feet together allow the

[31:12] knees to open

[31:14] feel a nice stretch on the inner thighs

[31:17] and then allow the arms to come out to

[31:19] the side

[31:20] place one hand on the belly one hand on

[31:22] the heart

[31:24] breathing in

[31:31] exhale

[31:33] [Music]

[32:00] i invite you

[32:06] to really explore that vision of you at

[32:09] your happiest

[32:12] really being clear on what you want in

[32:14] this moment with the intention

[32:16] underneath your yoga mat your intention

[32:19] is that foundation

[32:21] underneath the yoga mat of life

[32:26] where you are able to envision and

[32:28] create whatever you want

[32:29] through the challenging postures

[32:32] through the very pleasurable postures

[32:37] and each is unique to you

[32:41] your intention is there trust it

[32:45] let the universe guide you

[33:01] [Music]

[33:08] i invite you to stay here for as long as

[33:12] you wish as long as you like

[33:14] but if you would like to close the

[33:16] practice bring the legs together

[33:19] roll on to your side

[33:23] person up to your comfortable seated

[33:25] position

[33:35] i hope you enjoyed that practice that it

[33:38] served

[33:38] you i hope that vision that you wish for

[33:40] your life that paper that you have

[33:42] you stick with it you maybe put it

[33:44] somewhere you can see

[33:46] on your wall and i thank you so much for

[33:48] manifesting with me

[33:50] this is my favorite thing to practice it

[33:53] is my practice

[33:54] every day so i'm happy to share it with

[33:56] you

Frequently Asked Questions

In Liza Colpa's class, intention setting means visualizing your happiest life, noticing the feelings in that vision, and writing a simple intention that carries that feeling. The paper is then folded and placed under the yoga mat as a reminder during the practice. The intention is meant to guide the session rather than serve as a fixed goal.
Colpa asks you to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and imagine yourself at your happiest: what you are doing, who is around you, what places you are in, and what has changed in your life. She then asks you to notice the feelings, such as freedom, lightness, love, or bliss, and to set an intention based on that feeling. Writing it down afterward helps make it concrete.
In this class, moving at your own pace means choosing how much and how quickly to move in each shape, rather than copying the teacher or pushing toward a particular pose. Colpa says that when people set intentions they often try to emulate others, and she invites students to be their unique selves. She repeats the instruction throughout the flow.
The class is framed for both new and seasoned practitioners, and its sequence uses foundational shapes like cat-cow, downward dog, plank, forward fold, and warrior. Because the emphasis is on pacing and not on achievement, it works as an accessible starting point. The video's description still advises consulting a doctor first if you have conditions such as asthma, heart disease, or pregnancy.
The video does not provide evidence that writing an intention produces specific outcomes. It presents manifestation as Colpa's personal belief and describes how her own practice has shaped her life, including moving and becoming a teacher. The practical value of the exercise is the clarity and focus it creates, which viewers can judge for themselves.
Colpa's video description points to her online course, 'Manifesting A Happier and Healthier Life,' hosted on Insight Timer. She also shares Insight Timer meditations, a website at lizacolpa.com, and an Instagram account at @lizacolpa.
Colpa pulls this affirmation for the session and connects it to the instruction to trust that you are being guided. During the poses she asks students to remember they are being guided by the universe, keeping the intention in view while they move. It works as a reminder to stay open rather than force the outcome.
