Dr Jeremy Alford is a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in mental health and wellbeing, working in multicultural settings across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He is also a hypnotherapist and biofeedback therapist, and he records guided meditations alongside his clinical work.
His approach is integrative and evidence-based, tailored to the individual rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all model. He draws on cognitive behavioural approaches, mindfulness, imagery, hypnosis and biofeedback to support sustainable change, self-regulation and personal growth. He works with burnout, anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders and other life challenges, in person or online.
Jeremy's path into psychology began at 18, after his own experience of therapy. In his words, that experience continues to inform his work and deepen his empathy. He was also initiated into transcendental meditation at 18. He combines meditation and mindfulness in his professional practice, and describes his guided meditations as a way to spread calm, inner peace, hope and healing. They are designed to support relaxation, emotional regulation and sleep, and are available free of charge, including on Insight Timer.
He hosts bespoke mental health and wellbeing retreats, for single clients or small groups, that combine cognitive behavioural approaches with mindfulness and imagery. These are based in Bali.
Jeremy is a Senior Lecturer with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in the UK, teaching health professionals. In 2009 he founded the Middle East Eating Disorders Association (MEEDA), a nonprofit that works to raise awareness and improve support for eating disorders across the Middle East. He is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society and holds a BA, MPhil and PhD from University College Kensington.
