Connor Burns is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and psychotherapist based in Vancouver, BC, offering relational therapy for what he calls the layered, often tender work of being human. His practice is built on a belief in each person's inner wisdom, and on the idea that growth comes not from fixing ourselves but from being fully seen.
His path into counselling began with a lifelong wish to understand what it means to be human. That inquiry has taken him through hundreds of hours of yoga, philosophy and mindfulness training, work with vulnerable populations, and over a decade of supporting at-risk and neurodivergent youth. His yoga training includes teacher trainings with Ryan Leier, Vinyasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami, Vinyasa Yoga for Youth, the Prison Yoga Project, and trauma-informed yoga with Yoga Outreach. He also completed a 200-hour mindfulness and meditation teacher training. Elsewhere he describes nearly a decade as a facilitator and writer on meditation and mindfulness, informed by Soto Zen, Bhakti Yoga, Insight Meditation and Metta Meditation.
In therapy, Connor's approach is humanistic, person-centred and relational: warm, collaborative and grounded in presence. His formal training includes Emotionally Focused Therapy with Dr. Sue Johnson, Dr. Gabor Maté's Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, along with somatic and trauma-informed methods. He holds a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle.
He works with children, teens, parents and adults, in person and online, including play-based therapy for younger clients. His guiding words are "Discovering the light. Honouring the shadow."
