Ashley Baer is an educator, speaker, author and wellness coach who works with the effects of anxiety, stress, trauma and grief on the mind-body connection. She grew up on a small island off the coast of Georgia, and losing her mother at the age of eight shaped her path. Years of studying mindfulness, yoga and meditation helped her build resilience and release old stories and patterns that no longer served her.
She holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Georgia and a Master's in Education. Over twenty-three years in education she taught Special Education in Gwinnett and Fulton County schools and served as a Facilitator for the Fulton and Forsyth district offices. In Forsyth County she created a district-wide wellness initiative that grew from a mindfulness pilot into The Mindful Breathing Program, which supports educators' resilience and students' mental and emotional health. A study of the program was conducted and published by Georgia State University, and the program expanded across Forsyth County Schools. She also trains teachers to use mindful strategies for attention and emotional regulation in the classroom.
Ashley is a certified health and wellness coach and a registered yoga teacher (E-500 HR), with certifications in mindfulness, mindfulness in education and Yoga Nidra. She is a co-founder of the COSEM Georgia chapter. Her teaching includes yoga, breathwork, meditation and sound practices, along with coaching, sports mindfulness training and speaking about mindfulness in education. She has also volunteered teaching mindfulness to people preparing to return to civilian life after incarceration. She describes her intention as sharing practical, compassionate practices that foster clarity, emotional resilience and inner peace.
Worth Knowing
Ashley Baer is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, educator, and wellness coach who has spent over twenty-three years bringing mindfulness into institutional settings—primarily schools and education systems across Georgia. What distinguishes her in the yoga and meditation world is that she doesn't teach in a studio setting primarily; instead, her focus is systemic: she created and directs the Mindful Breathing Program, a research-backed initiative that trains teachers to embed mindfulness, breathwork, and emotional regulation into classrooms. She works from a straightforward conviction that mindfulness is the missing link in education, and her evidence is concrete—a 2019 pilot run in partnership with Georgia State University's School of Public Health and School of Psychology expanded across Forsyth County Schools. People follow her work because she marries rigor (Master's degree in Education, formal yoga training) with practical application; she's not selling transformation, but teaching resilience and clarity to kids and educators who need it. Her yearly wellness retreat at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios offers immersive learning for adults, while her guided meditations on Insight Timer make her work accessible to anyone with a smartphone.
