The Art of Allowing and the Law of Attraction Explained

From Abraham-Hicks Publications

Watch · 6

The Art of Allowing, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, is set for release on December 8, 2026, and it is the first new Abraham-Hicks book in more than ten years. Its official eight-and-a-half-minute preview, released as a first look, gives a compact map of the book's central claim: that human life is built on vibration before it is built on words and deeds, that a law of attraction operates like gravity whether or not you notice it, and that the feeling you carry while a desire is still invisible is the most dependable evidence of where that desire is heading. The preview is attributed to Abraham, the source voice in these teachings, and it works less like a sales pitch than like an invitation to change the lens through which you read your own life. This article unpacks the ideas that carry the most weight in that preview, including the vibrational conversation, the gravity comparison, the corn seed, the emotional compass, and the windshield card that rewrites a single verb.

Read · 8 sections

What does "vibration" mean in this teaching?

The preview's opening claim is the most radical, so it deserves a slow reading. Abraham tells the reader that they are "mostly vibration" even though they do not usually think of themselves that way. You know yourself and your world through sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch, and the preview acknowledges that these senses are "an important part of you." But it insists they are not the foundation. In the preview's words, "The basis of your world is vibration." Everything you live is your personal translation of that underlying vibration into the things your senses report.

This framing turns ordinary life into a continuous exchange. The preview describes "a vibrational conversation going on between you and everyone you interact with and between you and your non-physical counterparts, your source energy," and a second conversation "between you and everything you desire." The aim, as the preview states it, is to help the reader feel the contents of these conversations, because only then can a person "understand unequivocally why your life is unfolding in the way it is." Vibration here is not a mystical garnish. It is the claim that the emotional and energetic tone you hold is the medium in which everything else arrives. (Abraham, in the preview, around 1:30.)

Why is the law of attraction compared to gravity?

The preview's best rhetorical move is its analogy to gravity. Nobody needs to believe in gravity for it to work, and nobody escapes it by disagreeing. The preview makes the point directly: "In the same way that any attempt at defying gravity brings consistent results, the same is true of the universal law of attraction." (Abraham, around 3:29.) The argument is that attraction is a constant field, not a reward for good behavior or a lottery ticket. It "affects every aspect of your life," and it is "the reason for absolutely everything that comes your way."

The preview gives the law two definitions, and the difference between them is the whole practical lesson. The first is the foundational one: "the law of attraction means that which is like unto itself is drawn." (Abraham, around 3:43.) The second is the one most readers will remember: "By practical application, the law of attraction means you get what you think about whether you want it or not." That second sentence is pointed. It suggests that the question is not whether attraction is happening, but what it is attracting, given the thinking and feeling you bring to your days.

The gravity comparison also explains why the book frames understanding as a form of power. A person who ignores gravity still falls. A person who understands it can build bridges, fly, and plan. The preview argues that the same logic applies here. Without awareness of the field, a person relies on "the much weaker approaches of words and actions," and "you miss out on your true power." The goal is not to abandon action but to see that action operates inside a larger field that is already shaping outcomes.

Why do people take score too soon?

The preview identifies a specific failure of patience that most readers will recognize. Action produces visible results, so people trust what they can see. When a desire has been planted but has not yet shown up in the physical world, many people "turn your attention to the absence of your desire," and the preview warns that the law of attraction then "brings that to fruition instead of the presence of your desire." In other words, impatience doesn't just delay the result; it steers the attention toward the lack and so reinforces the lack.

The preview describes this as "taking score too soon." Because you cannot see the progress, you assume none is happening. Abraham's answer is that the unseen work is real: "You are in the process of attracting the evidence of your desire. Even though you cannot see it immediately, it is becoming. It is building. It is evolving. It is coming into literal beingness." (Abraham, around 6:05 in the preview's middle section.) The argument asks the reader to hold a desire the way a practical gardener holds a planted field, with trust in what is developing below the surface.

What does a seed of corn teach about patience?

The corn analogy is the preview's most concrete image, and it does quiet, careful work. When you plant corn, the preview says, "even though you can no longer see it, you expect it to progress." You water it. You pull the weeds. When the first green shoots break the soil, you do not feel disappointed that they are small; you allow them time and expect them to grow. Nobody treats a sprout as a failed harvest.

The preview's point is that people do not extend this same patience to ideas. "When you plant the seed of an idea or desire into the fertile soil of your vibrational atmosphere," the text says, "you often are not trusting or patient." The gardener's posture, expectation paired with steady tending, is exactly what the book is asking the reader to bring to their internal life. The seed of a desire needs the same attitude: "an attitude of belief and expectation." The analogy also quietly reframes "allowing." Allowing is not passivity. It is the disciplined refusal to dig up the seed to check whether it has rooted yet.

How do emotions act as a sixth sense?

If the corn seed explains the need for patience, the emotional passage explains how a person can know anything while waiting. Abraham calls emotion a kind of sensing organ: "Your emotions are your sixth sense of the progress of your creations." (Abraham, around 7:35.) The preview calls emotions "sensitive, always accurate indicators of the progress of your desires."

This is the most usable idea in the preview. Since the physical senses cannot yet detect a desire in its early stages, "because in those early stages there is nothing yet to see, hear, smell, taste, or touch," the feeling you carry becomes the best available instrument. The teaching implies that the question is not "Do I see it yet?" but "How does this feel right now?" Good feeling is read as progress; poor feeling is read as a signal about where attention has drifted. The preview does not present emotional states as moral verdicts. It presents them as information about your alignment, which is a different and more workable thing.

What does "things are always working out" actually mean?

The preview's final example is a small grammatical lesson with large consequences. Esther and Jerry Hicks, according to the preview, had cards printed that sit on a car dashboard and throw a message onto the lower windshield. The statement reads: "Things are always working out for me." (Abraham, around 7:51.)

Abraham explains why the wording matters. The card does not say "Things will work out for me," which pushes the good into a future you cannot yet touch. It does not say "Things have worked out for me," which points backward. It does not say "Things always work out for me," which is a general claim. It says "Things are always working out for me." The preview's gloss: "It's happening now, right now, and you will see the full manifestation of it in time." The present progressive places the process inside the present moment, which is exactly where the seed-and-soil logic says the work is happening. It also gives the reader something to practice repeatedly: a statement that is true in the act of saying it, rather than a promise deferred to a later date.

How can a reader begin to practice allowing?

The preview itself does not lay out a step-by-step method, and it would be a mistake to invent one. What it does offer is a consistent orientation, and it is worth stating plainly. Begin by noticing that your world is an interpretation of vibration, not a direct readout of it. Treat the physical results you see as a partial and delayed picture, not the whole story. Expect unseen growth the way you would expect a planted seed to grow, and tend to it through attention rather than anxious checking. Use your emotions as the closest measure you have of where a desire currently stands. And when you speak to yourself about your life, prefer the present tense of active progress over the future tense of hope or the past tense of memory.

These are the practical edges of the book's argument, drawn from the preview's own language. The fuller teaching, including how each idea is developed across the book's pages, will arrive with the December 8, 2026 release. A reader who approaches the material with curiosity rather than a checklist will likely find that the most challenging part is not understanding the claims but staying with them through the slow, unglamorous stretch between planting and visible growth.

Where to go from here

If the preview has stirred something, the next step is the book itself. The Art of Allowing, subtitled "You Get What You Think About Whether You Want It or Not," is scheduled for release on December 8, 2026, and it is the first new Abraham-Hicks book in more than ten years. The official preview and the book's pre-order information are available through the publisher's channels, as linked in the video description. Read the book slowly, and try the corn seed image in your own life for a single week before judging whether it holds. The teaching asks for the kind of patience it describes, and that may be the most honest test of the whole idea.

[0:00] Introduction from Abraham.

[0:03] We are eager to have this conversation

[0:05] with you because we are aware of your

[0:07] powerful asking, which means we are

[0:09] aware of your readiness to hear the

[0:11] contents of this book. You're almost

[0:13] ready, but not quite ready.

[0:16] However, as you proceed through the

[0:18] pages of this book, your perspective

[0:20] will gradually shift and your reception

[0:22] will improve and your vibration will

[0:25] change and your momentum will too. and

[0:28] your life will begin to improve in

[0:30] noticeable ways. In other words, you

[0:33] will become vibrationally up to speed

[0:35] with your own hopes and dreams and

[0:36] desires. You will join the perspective

[0:39] of your source within you as you focus

[0:41] upon the important details of your own

[0:43] life. You will gradually become up to

[0:46] speed with our vibration and then you

[0:48] will hear things in new ways. This will

[0:51] be a life-changing experience for you

[0:53] because the vibrational frequency that

[0:55] you have been practicing will improve

[0:57] over the hours that you are consuming

[0:59] the information in this book. You don't

[1:02] know you are vibrational even though you

[1:04] are mostly vibration because you have

[1:06] other ways of defining yourself, your

[1:09] world, your life. You translate

[1:12] vibration without even knowing you're

[1:13] doing it. You explain your world to

[1:15] yourself and to others through what you

[1:17] are seeing and hearing and smelling and

[1:19] tasting and touching. And of course,

[1:22] that is all an important part of you.

[1:24] But it is not the basis of your world.

[1:27] The basis of your world is vibration.

[1:30] Everything that you are living is your

[1:31] personal translation of vibration into

[1:34] the things that you see and hear and

[1:36] smell and taste and touch.

[1:39] There is a vibrational conversation

[1:41] going on between you and everyone you

[1:43] interact with and between you and your

[1:46] non-physical counterparts, your source

[1:48] energy. And there is a conversation

[1:51] going on between you and everything you

[1:53] desire.

[1:54] We want to help you to be aware of these

[1:56] conversations. Meaning, we want to

[1:58] assist you in feeling the contents of

[2:00] them because then and only then will you

[2:04] be able to understand unequivocally why

[2:06] your life is unfolding in the way it is.

[2:10] Once you gain an understanding of the

[2:12] true nature of the universe in which you

[2:14] are living and the physical world in

[2:16] which you are focused, you can begin the

[2:19] deliberate experience of molding your

[2:21] life into the specific details that you

[2:23] prefer. You will no longer live a life

[2:26] attracted to yourself by default, but

[2:28] instead you will define the aspects of

[2:30] your life that you want to live, and you

[2:33] will easily call those wanted details

[2:35] into your experience with intention,

[2:37] clarity, precision, and timing.

[2:40] We are pleased that we are having this

[2:42] conversation with you and we are eager

[2:44] about the unfolding that you will

[2:46] experience as we move forward together

[2:48] through this book. A helpful and logical

[2:52] shift in your perspective.

[2:55] Nothing that you will find in this book

[2:57] will be upsetting or upending to you

[2:59] because everything that you have

[3:01] observed in your physical world is in

[3:03] alignment with the universal laws and

[3:05] principles that we will present to you

[3:07] here. The same aspects of the consistent

[3:10] and unchanging physical laws of physics

[3:13] that you observe in your physical world

[3:15] have at their basis the vibrational laws

[3:17] that we will explain in this book. In

[3:20] other words, these are universal laws

[3:22] that require understanding and

[3:24] adaptation for you to utilize them to

[3:27] your fullest advantage.

[3:29] In the same way that any attempt at

[3:31] defying gravity brings consistent

[3:33] results, the same is true of the

[3:35] universal law of attraction.

[3:38] By definition, the law of attraction

[3:40] means that which is like unto itself is

[3:43] drawn. By practical application, the law

[3:47] of attraction means you get what you

[3:49] think about whether you want it or not.

[3:52] In your physical world, you are

[3:54] continuously affected by the field of

[3:56] gravity. This consistent field affects

[3:59] your every moment, your every movement,

[4:01] your entire existence.

[4:04] Likewise, in your physical world, you

[4:07] are continuously affected by the field

[4:09] of attraction. This consistent field

[4:12] affects every aspect of your life. It is

[4:15] the reason for absolutely everything

[4:16] that comes your way. Your all day,

[4:20] everyday point of attraction is because

[4:23] of your irrevocable immersion in and

[4:26] engagement with the law of attraction.

[4:30] turning thoughts to things

[4:34] in your physical world. It seems to most

[4:36] people that you build your world, manage

[4:38] your world, and create your world

[4:40] through words, directives, and actions.

[4:44] It is logical that you believe this

[4:46] because you can see the results of words

[4:48] and actions. As you move things from

[4:51] place to place, it is irrefutable that

[4:53] the action and effort did accomplish a

[4:55] change that you can witness through your

[4:57] physical senses. Our intention is not to

[5:01] dismiss the physical action part of your

[5:03] life experience, but rather to enhance

[5:05] your life experience by highlighting the

[5:08] powerful forces that are going on in the

[5:10] background, hidden at first from your

[5:13] physical senses.

[5:15] It is our desire to help you to

[5:16] understand that by being unaware of

[5:19] these powerful forces, the reason your

[5:21] life is unfolding the way that it is,

[5:23] and by depending instead on the much

[5:25] weaker approaches of words and actions,

[5:28] you miss out on your true power. As a

[5:31] result, you create less significant

[5:33] experiences and live a life that is

[5:35] infinitely less satisfying.

[5:38] Because you are depending on seeing your

[5:40] actions bring immediate results, you

[5:42] often do not hold steady to the course

[5:44] of your desire. And while your desire is

[5:46] in motion, the law of attraction is

[5:49] bringing it to full materialization

[5:51] where you will see it fully. But in your

[5:54] lack of awareness of that unseen

[5:56] progress, you turn your attention away

[5:58] from your desires and toward the current

[6:00] lack of tangible results, and you stifle

[6:02] your own desire.

[6:05] When you plant a seed of corn in the

[6:06] soil of your garden, even though you can

[6:09] no longer see it, you expect it to

[6:11] progress. And in that belief, you tend

[6:14] to it in positive ways. You water it and

[6:17] remove the troublesome weeds around it.

[6:19] And you expect its unseen nature to

[6:21] prevail.

[6:23] Later, when the first physical signs of

[6:25] its evolution emerge through the soil,

[6:27] where you can see them, you do not feel

[6:29] disappointment at how small they are. At

[6:31] first, you allow them time to develop

[6:33] and you expect them to grow. And yet,

[6:37] when you plant the seed of an idea or

[6:39] desire into the fertile soil of your

[6:41] vibrational atmosphere, you often are

[6:43] not trusting or patient. And so, you do

[6:46] not tend to your seed with an attitude

[6:48] of belief and expectation. You take

[6:50] score too soon because you do not

[6:52] immediately see the evidence you want to

[6:54] see. You turn your attention to the

[6:56] absence of your desire and then the

[6:59] powerful law of attraction brings that

[7:00] to fruition instead of the presence of

[7:03] your desire. You are in the process of

[7:06] attracting the evidence of your desire.

[7:08] Even though you cannot see it

[7:10] immediately, it is becoming. It is

[7:12] building. It is evolving. It is coming

[7:16] into literal beingness. Even though your

[7:18] physical senses are not yet able to see

[7:20] it or identify it because in those early

[7:23] stages there is nothing yet to see,

[7:25] hear, smell, taste, or touch. But when

[7:29] you understand that you are a

[7:30] vibrational creator in a vibrational

[7:33] universe, you can witness the becoming

[7:35] of your creation by feeling it. Your

[7:38] emotions are your sixth sense of the

[7:41] progress of your creations. sensitive,

[7:44] always accurate indicators of the

[7:46] progress of your desires.

[7:49] Jerry and Esther had some cards printed

[7:51] that when placed on the dashboard of

[7:53] your vehicle reflect a message onto the

[7:55] lower part of your windshield. The

[7:57] statement reads, "Things are always

[7:59] working out for me." It doesn't say,

[8:02] "Things will work out for me." It

[8:05] doesn't say, "Things have worked out for

[8:07] me." It doesn't say things always work

[8:10] out for me. It says things are always

[8:16] working out for me. It's happening now,

[8:19] right now, and you will see the full

[8:22] manifestation of it in time.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Art of Allowing, by Esther and Jerry Hicks with teachings attributed to Abraham, argues that life is shaped by vibration before it is shaped by words and actions. Its subtitle, 'You Get What You Think About Whether You Want It or Not,' summarizes the law of attraction as the book presents it. The book is scheduled for release on December 8, 2026.
In the preview, this is the practical application of the law of attraction, which is defined as 'that which is like unto itself is drawn.' The teaching holds that your dominant thoughts and feelings attract matching experiences whether or not you consciously want them. Awareness of this is presented as the way to direct it deliberately.
Abraham uses gravity because it is a constant field that works regardless of belief, and it cannot be defied without consistent results. The preview argues the law of attraction works the same way, affecting every aspect of life. Understanding the field is presented as a source of power rather than a matter of faith.
The preview compares planting a desire to planting corn: you water and tend a seed without digging it up to check, and you are not disappointed by small first shoots. The teaching says people often fail to extend that same patience to ideas, taking score too soon. The analogy is used to explain why trust and expectation matter during the unseen stage.
Abraham describes emotions as 'your sixth sense of the progress of your creations,' calling them sensitive, always accurate indicators of where desires stand. Since physical senses cannot detect a desire in its early stages, feelings become the most available signal of progress. Feeling good is read as alignment, and feeling poorly signals attention has drifted.
The preview says the wording is deliberate: 'are always working out' places the process in the present, rather than promising a future outcome or looking backward. Abraham says it's happening now and the full manifestation will appear in time. The point is to use a statement that is true in the act of saying it.
Yes, according to the video description, it is the first new Abraham-Hicks book in more than 10 years. The description lists December 8, 2026 as the release date. Readers can find pre-order details through the publisher's channels linked in the official preview.
