Tia Marie Brumsted, LCSW-C, LICSW, NCSSW, is the founder and clinical director of Sweetbay Mental Health & Consulting in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She is a licensed psychotherapist, meditation teacher, and sound healing facilitator, and she describes herself as a healing arts practitioner.
She has 20 years of experience in mental health and K-12 school health administration. In the metropolitan DC region she has worked as a clinical social worker, personal coach, workplace consultant, and systems-level education leader. She holds a master's degree in clinical social work and is licensed to practice psychotherapy in Maryland and DC. She is a graduate of Spelman College and Smith College School for Social Work, and her site describes her as the first nationally certified school social worker in the US.
Tia Marie is passionate about integrative mental health. She is certified in mindfulness and meditation teaching, restorative yoga, and sound healing, and she uses this approach to help people and organizations find calm, clarity, confidence, and success. In her meditation practice, both personally and with clients, she most often uses mindfulness, focused, movement, and progressive relaxation techniques.
Her sound sessions use crystal quartz singing bowls, chimes, drums, gongs, and other instruments to support relaxed, restorative states. A sound healing class at her studio begins with a gentle seated stretch and guided mindfulness or visualization meditation, then flows into a sound bath. She offers mindfulness meditation classes, workshops, and retreats to the greater DC, Maryland, and Virginia community and virtually worldwide.
Her stated belief is that self-improvement is a lifelong journey. She encourages people to come as they are, to recognize the strengths they already have, and to move beyond self-doubt toward their full potential.
