Question 1

Who is Susie Sands, and why do people care about her work?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands is a sound and energy healer based in Westchester County, New York, trained by Jeralyn Glass, one of the field's most respected practitioners. She works with crystal alchemy singing bowls—instruments made of pure quartz crystal infused with precious metals, rare gemstones, and other earth elements—to guide clients through sound bath meditations designed as journeys of self-discovery. Her reputation rests on a dual commitment: the technical mastery of crystal bowl tuning and acoustics, combined with intuitive energy work that's customized to each person's mental, physical, and emotional state. She describes herself as a channel to spirit, and her clients come to her for both the measurable relaxation response that sound bathing produces and the deeper sense of emotional and spiritual recalibration that happens when working with someone attuned to subtle energies. Her growing presence on YouTube, where she posts sound healing meditations and spiritual guidance, has extended her reach beyond her local Westchester practice.

Question 2

What tradition or lineage does Susie Sands's work belong to?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands situates herself within the modern sound healing tradition, specifically the crystal singing bowl lineage that has gained prominence in the last few decades as a bridge between ancient vibrational healing practices and contemporary energy work. Her training directly under Jeralyn Glass anchors her in a particular strand of this practice—one that emphasizes the scientific properties of quartz crystal (piezoelectric resonance, frequency entrainment) alongside intuitive and energetic sensing. The broader context includes shamanic sound traditions, Himalayan singing bowl practices, and contemporary crystal healing modalities, though her own approach is distinctly Western and contemporary rather than explicitly tied to any ancient cultural tradition. What distinguishes her lineage is the integration of energy healing frameworks—attention to chakras, meridians, emotional blocks—with the acoustic and neurological effects of sustained crystal bowl tones. Students and practitioners in this space often draw from Ayurvedic principles, vibrational frequency theory, and intuitive healing, and Susie's work reflects these eclectic influences.

Question 3

Where should a complete newcomer start with Susie Sands's work?

Accepted Answer

The most accessible entry point is Susie Sands's YouTube channel, where she shares free sound healing meditations and spiritual passages that introduce her voice, her instrument, and her aesthetic without requiring any commitment or expense. A newcomer should start with a guided meditation of 10 to 20 minutes to experience the crystal bowl sound directly and get a feel for her pacing, the quality of her voice, and the way she frames the meditative journey. If that resonates, the album "Transitions in Grace" (2022) offers a more curated, recorded listening experience—five tracks designed as a coherent arc rather than individual meditations. For those who want to go deeper and work with her directly, a single 1:1 session provides the most personalized introduction: Susie begins with a focused conversation about your needs, then creates a customized sound bath experience tailored to your emotional and physical state, complete with reflection time and a custom recording to take home. Her website, sshealing.com, contains the full scope of what she offers and is the place to inquire about pricing, availability, and whether a particular modality suits your goals.

Question 4

What makes Susie Sands distinctive compared to other sound healers?

Accepted Answer

While many sound healers offer crystal bowl sessions, Susie's practice is distinguished by her emphasis on the alchemy aspect—her bowls are specifically crafted from pure quartz infused with precious metals, gemstones, and earth elements, which she believes creates a more complex, resonant harmonic field than standard bowls. Her integration of energy healing dialogue into the 1:1 work sets her apart from purely acoustic-focused practitioners; she doesn't just play bowls and hope for results, but engages in focused conversation about a client's mental, emotional, and physical landscape before designing the session. Another defining feature is her commitment to custom sound healing recordings—each one attuned to an individual and accompanied by an invitation to exchange voice memo reflections—which creates an ongoing relationship and accountability rather than a one-off experience. Her self-identification as a channel to spirit, and her willingness to address life questions and spiritual guidance alongside sound work, appeals to clients seeking a more holistic healing framework than purely technical or fitness-adjacent sound bath offerings. Finally, her YouTube presence and consistent online teaching make her work accessible to people who may never be able to visit Westchester in person.

Question 5

Who is Susie Sands's work NOT for?

Accepted Answer

Susie's practice is not a fit for skeptics seeking purely clinical, double-blinded acoustic science—while sound bathing has real neurological effects (stress reduction, altered brainwave patterns), her framing explicitly includes spiritual and energetic dimensions that won't appeal to those wanting to divorce the practice from any metaphysical language. Those with deep hearing sensitivities or acoustic hypersensitivity may find sustained crystal bowl tones fatiguing or triggering rather than soothing, and this is worth testing on YouTube first. People seeking high-energy, rhythmic, or actively engaging sound experiences won't find that here—crystal bowls are slow, spacious, and introspective by design, so if you're looking for invigoration or active movement, this is not the modality. Her work also assumes some openness to energy healing frameworks (chakras, intuitive sensing, spiritual channeling), and those approaching healing from a purely somatic or cognitive-behavioral lens may find her language and approach unconvincing. Finally, the 1:1 sessions and custom recordings are a significant financial and time investment, so this isn't a practice for those seeking a very low-cost or entirely passive healing intervention.

Question 6

How can I follow Susie Sands's upcoming events, releases, and travel?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands's primary platforms are her website (sshealing.com), where she lists session availability and retreat information, and her YouTube channel, where she regularly posts new meditations and spiritual guidance. Her Spotify artist profile exists but is minimally updated; YouTube is a more reliable source for new recorded content. For inquiries about private sessions, custom recordings, group sound baths, or retreat participation, direct contact through her website is the most effective path. While there is no formal newsletter or social media presence visible in the public data, regular YouTube subscribers will be notified of new uploads, and her website typically features any upcoming events or expanded offerings. Since she's based in Westchester County, New York, anyone in the tri-state area should monitor her site for local group sessions or retreat announcements. International or traveling clients interested in remote sessions should reach out directly, as she may offer distance-based work or recordings for those unable to visit in person.

Question 7

What does Susie Sands's sound work actually sound like?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands's recordings are built on the sustained, resonant tones of crystal alchemy singing bowls—pure quartz instruments that produce a rich harmonic field of musical overtones rather than discrete melodic notes. The pacing is slow and spacious, with long resonance tails that wash across the listener; there's no rhythm section, drums, or conventional beat, and minimal human voice beyond occasional gentle guidance or spiritual passages. Her own voice, when present, is calm and measured, used more for framing and invitation than for singing or performance. The aesthetic is one of restraint and simplicity—each bowl tone is given time to decay fully, allowing the listener to feel the subtle variations in frequency and the way the sound seems to move through the body. The overall effect is more akin to ambient sound design or meditative soundscaping than to music with traditional structure, melody, or progression; the "journey" is internal and embodied rather than narrative or rhythmic. There's a cleanliness and clarity to the production—no distortion, layering, or production artifacts—that leaves the bowl sound unadorned and primary.

Question 8

What are the essential Susie Sands recordings to know?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands's primary recorded work is the album "Transitions in Grace" (2022), a five-track collection that serves as the most curated introduction to her sound healing aesthetic. While detailed track-by-track breakdowns aren't available in the released data, the album title suggests a thematic focus on life transitions and grace, which aligns with her broader framing of sound healing as a path through change and toward emotional balance. Beyond the album, her YouTube channel is the deepest archive of her work—she regularly uploads guided sound healing meditations of varying lengths, which function as both teaching demonstrations and standalone practices for remote listeners. For those seeking her work as independent study material, the YouTube catalog provides flexibility; listeners can experiment with 10-minute sessions, 30-minute deep meditations, and spiritual guidance passages to find what resonates. The custom sound healing recordings she creates for 1:1 clients are, by design, not publicly available, but they represent the most personalized and advanced expression of her work—designed for individual energy signatures and emotional needs. New listeners should start with free YouTube content, then move to "Transitions in Grace" if the sound and energy feel aligned.

Question 9

What instruments and elements does Susie Sands work with?

Accepted Answer

Susie Sands's primary instrument is the crystal alchemy singing bowl—hand-crafted from pure quartz crystal and infused with precious metals, rare gemstones, and other earth elements selected for their vibrational and energetic properties. These are not standard quartz bowls; the inclusion of gemstones and metals is intended to enhance and refine the harmonic field and the quality of energy the instrument transmits. She plays these bowls using traditional mallets that strike or glide across the rim to produce sustained tones, and her technique involves understanding the specific resonant properties of each bowl and how different playing approaches yield different frequency signatures. Beyond the bowls themselves, her 1:1 work incorporates energy sensing and intuitive energy practices—she draws on these skills to determine what a client needs in the moment, making her the true second instrument alongside the bowls. Her custom recordings are produced with these bowl sounds as the primary element, likely with some minimal studio processing to capture the full harmonic complexity. The combination of acoustic instrument mastery and energetic attunement is what distinguishes her work from purely technical sound bowl practitioners.

Question 10

What does a 1:1 session with Susie Sands feel like?

Accepted Answer

A session with Susie Sands begins with a focused conversation in which she asks about your mental, physical, and emotional needs—this isn't a casual chat but a targeted inquiry designed to understand where you're struggling and what balance you're seeking. From that foundation, she uses her experience, intuition, and energy practices to design a customized sound bath meditation, drawing on her training and real-time energetic sensing to play her crystal alchemy bowls in a way that directly addresses your particular state. The sound bath itself is a deep relaxation experience; you'll lie down or sit comfortably while sustained crystal bowl tones wash over you, and the experience is typically both profoundly relaxing and subtly emotionally moving, as the vibrations work on both the nervous system and the energetic body. Following the sound experience, there's dedicated time for reflection—space to notice what shifted, what you're feeling, and what insights emerged. Before you leave, Susie also provides guidance on how to continue the practice at home, whether through her YouTube library or through personal contemplation. Many clients also receive a custom sound healing recording afterward, which extends the work and allows for ongoing attunement between sessions.
