Stephanie Lynn is a Michigan-based yoga and meditation teacher, Reiki Master and yoga teacher trainer. She holds an E-RYT 500 and YACEP, is a Certified Yoga Therapist and a Level III Reiki Master, and offers yoga, meditation, Reiki, kirtan and teacher training. For more than 30 years, yoga and meditation have been, in her words, a source of strength, resilience, peace and compassion. She sees yoga as mental, emotional and spiritual "fitness" as well as physical, and aims to steward every student individually, whatever the size of the group.
Her teaching draws on a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry, which gives her a grounding in anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. She has studied directly under Sandra Carden, Raghunath Cappo, Veronica Zador, Gopi Kinnicutt, Gaura Vani Buchwald, Radhanath Swami and Laura Kupperman, and has taken workshops with Krishna Das and Jai Uttal. She has specialized training with The Connection Coalition (yoga and meditation for "at risk" teens) and Yoga for Survivors (oncology patients and survivors), and has completed a clinical externship with the International Institute of Yoga Therapy. Two extended trips to India deepened her understanding of the spiritual side of yoga.
Yoga Nidra is a special passion. In 2015 she recorded and released a Yoga Nidra CD and download, Bathing in the Sunrise, and she shares guided meditations, talks and music on Insight Timer. She has led yoga retreats, teacher trainings and continuing education courses for over a decade, including retreats at Barothy Lodge in northern Michigan, and her course offerings include Yoga Nidra and Yin Yoga.
Mindfulness-based meditation, the practice of peaceful presence and acceptance, has been the most transformative part of yoga for her. She describes her classes as disciplined and challenging, yet light-hearted and full of compassion, and she strives to meet each student where they are.
