Dr. Jodi Aman, DSW, LCSW-R, is a trauma-informed Family Relationship Advisor who works with individuals, couples, families, leaders and family-owned organizations. She describes her work as happening at the level of patterns, relational structure and decision-making, helping people move out of survival mode, over-functioning and fragmentation toward lives and relationships that feel steadier and more coherent.
She earned her MSW from Columbia University in 1996 and has worked with thousands of individuals, families and organizations across 14 countries, in clinical practice, education and systems-level consulting. In 2023 she earned her Doctor of Social Work from Simmons University, with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, intersectionality, power and antiracism. She has taught Narrative Therapy to clinicians and coaches in Norway, China, Mexico, Australia, Canada and the US for the Dulwich Centre, and has led workshops, retreats and groups on topics including parenting, anxiety, highly sensitive people, blended families and recovery from abuse.
Dr. Jodi is the author of five science-backed mental health books, the creator of the COMPASS high school social-emotional learning curriculum, and the designer of seven emotional intelligence card decks. She has made close to a thousand free educational videos and sixteen online personal and professional development programs, and she speaks to universities, professional organizations, retreat centers and leadership communities. Her talks have included a TEDx talk on calming anxious kids.
On her Insight Timer page she says she has been passionate about nurturing life since she started a garden at age 8, and that having recovered from her own family chaos and panic attacks, she has dedicated her life to helping people feel less lonely and afraid.
