Worth Knowing
Erika Halweil is a Yoga Teacher and Wellness Guide based in the Hamptons and New York City, and she created The Life Glow Project, which she describes as a destination for three decades of teachings, knowledge and practices that treat the mind and body as sacred. She has practiced yoga since 1993, grew up in New York City, and her website cites more than 28 years of teaching experience. Her training is broader than most yoga teachers': alongside yoga she holds a nutrition degree from NYU and has studied anatomy and physiology, Ayurveda, Reflexology, Astrology, nervous system and brain patterns, Modern Lymphatics with Dr. Perry Nickleston, and Circadian Harmonization. Her guiding idea, that life itself can be a healing elixir, works as a method linking movement, breath and daily habits rather than as a slogan. Transcendental meditation and motherhood also shape her teaching, which gives her classes a practical, everyday register. The result is a practice meant to be lived with rather than performed on the mat.
