Bigger Life Adventures is a yoga and adventure retreat company founded in 2018 by Carrie Hoffman and Zach Minnich, a couple who share a love of world travel, yoga, conscious living, food and healing in nature. Both are in long-term recovery, and that experience shapes the plant-based, alcohol-free retreats and yoga teacher trainings they host. Their work blends trauma-informed yoga, vegan Ayurveda-inspired menus and purposeful adventure. The people they welcome include those in recovery, the sober-curious, and anyone who wants a clear, intentional way to travel, with no labels required.
Carrie is a trauma-informed E-RYT500 and an 800-hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor. She is also a Wilderness First Responder, an outdoor guide and a writer. She says yoga helped her quit drinking and reconnect with herself after years of addiction. She teaches recovery-aware classes on retreat and in treatment facilities, schools and institutions. In 2026 she founded the Bigger Life Adventures School of Yoga and created its curriculum.
Zach is the plant-based chef and a holistic nutritionist and Reiki master. He is the author of the cookbook Plants on Plates (2024). He was the builder behind Grand Canyon Eco Retreat, where the couple hosted guests from around the world for five years.
Days on retreat typically begin with meditation and yoga, followed by hikes, nature adventures or cultural exploration. Evenings may bring yin yoga, journaling, sound healing or campfires, and every activity is optional. Retreats are small-group and open to all yoga levels, with workshops on yoga philosophy and a focus on sustainable travel that supports local guides and communities. Since 2018 they have hosted more than 100 retreats in six countries. Their guiding belief, in their words: "We're all each other's teachers."
