When you run a kirtan night, a weekend retreat, or a full festival, money usually has to go out before it comes in — venue deposits, teacher fees, sound equipment, permits. Transfers can be held until your account is connected and verified, and then they are released. New Express accounts also have a payout hold before money leaves your Stripe balance, 14 days by default.
Stripe Express or Stripe Standard
BrightStar works with two kinds of Stripe account. With Stripe Express, BrightStar creates the account for you and hands you Stripe's own hosted onboarding to finish. Once it is complete, a Stripe Dashboard button opens a login link to your Express dashboard on Stripe. New Express accounts are created with a payout hold, 14 days by default, before money leaves your connected balance. With Stripe Standard, you connect an account you already own by authorizing it through Stripe. BrightStar cannot set the payout schedule on a Standard account, because you own that account yourself.
Where to find it
Connecting Stripe is owner-only: teammates you have invited cannot connect, change, or disconnect the payout account.
What Stripe verification involves
Stripe verifies who is receiving the money before it will move funds. That verification happens on Stripe's own pages, not inside BrightStar. BrightStar does not collect your identity or banking details. It stores the account identifier, whether the account is Express or Standard, and the status it reads back from Stripe.
