Tuning In to New Potentials: A Knee Healing Story

A woman stands on a beach with a brace wrapped around one leg, decides she can no longer walk on it, and takes the brace off. Hours later she peeks under the fabric of her pants and finds that the swelling she had carried for years is gone. That is the scene at the center of a short retreat recording posted under the title "She Tuned In to a Healthier Future," in which a participant named Ivonne describes living with osteoarthritis in both knees, imagining herself already healed, and then, years later, using the same daily practice to recover from a fresh knee injury. Dr. Joe Dispenza, whose published work the video's own description ties to neuroscience, epigenetics, and the study of spontaneous remission, does not speak in the clip. What it offers instead is a participant's first-person account, recorded at the Denver Advanced Follow Up Retreat in October 2025, and a set of claims that are personal, specific, and not independently verified. Read it as testimony, and it becomes a useful window into how people talk about healing when the body and the diagnosis seem to disagree.

What happened on the beach at the retreat?

Ivonne's first event was in 2019. She had osteoarthritis in both legs, and she describes the right knee as the worse of the two, with bone rubbing against bone after an earlier operation. A friend invited her to a retreat in Cancun, and Ivonne, who says she had never heard of Dr. Joe, was told to watch his videos beforehand. She did, and something changed in how she planned her own care.

She told the room that while watching the videos, "I would think that I was already cured." Acting on that conviction, she went back to her doctor and asked him to operate again and remove the metal hardware from her leg. In her words, "I was completely sure that I was going to get healed." Her family, she admits, "thought I was going nuts."

At the retreat, the physical reality was stark. Ivonne says that simply walking would swell her knee "to like a melon size filled with blood," and she wore a brace wrapped around the leg. On the third day, walking on the beach, she removed the brace because she could no longer keep walking with it. After the group meditation she looked to see whether the knee was swollen. "There was nothing." She says she has had no further trouble with that knee since.

Ivonne, Denver Advanced Follow Up Retreat recording, October 2025 (approx. 0:13 to 1:36 in the clip)

Notice what the story does and does not claim. It describes a before, an intervention, and an after that she observed with her own eyes. It does not include an imaging report, a surgeon's note, or a follow-up exam from the 2019 period. Those gaps matter, and we will come back to them. For now, what is striking is the sequence: belief first, action second, and a physical observation at the end.

What is the Tuning In to New Potentials meditation asking you to do?

The practice Ivonne returns to in her second story is called Tuning In to New Potentials. Her description of it in the clip is simple. "Every day I was doing tuning into new potentials and I would imagine myself, you know, my new self with any kind of issues and it was just perfect." The YouTube description puts it even more directly: she would imagine "myself as my new self without any kind of issues."

That is the core instruction as she lived it: a daily, deliberate picture of a future self in which the problem no longer exists. It is not a request for the body to heal on command, and it is not a vague wish. It is a rehearsal of the outcome, repeated until it feels familiar. Dr. Joe's framework, as the video description summarizes his work, is built on the idea that the mind can shape physical change, and that this can be studied alongside what is known about the brain, gene expression, and spontaneous remission. Those are large claims. The clip does not walk through the research, so it is fair to say that the description offers the framework and Ivonne offers her experience of it.

There is a useful distinction here for any reader. A visualization practice asks you to change your attention and your expectation. Ivonne's account suggests she changed both, and then she paid close attention to what her body did next. She was not passive. She was deciding, daily, who she was going to be.

What happened when a new injury came along?

The second chapter of the story begins with an accident. Ivonne says that in March she injured her left knee, and that she took the recovery to Denver, where the Advanced Follow Up Retreat was taking place. While she was there, she says, she imagined herself as the person she had been at the earlier retreat, free of any issues, and she did the Tuning In practice every day.

Her timeline is short. "I don't know how many days it was," she says, "it was less than a week." Then: "I went up and down the stairs and I noticed that I don't have anything else." She had already booked an appointment with her doctor, and the clip picks up the room's laughter at that point.

Ivonne, Denver recording, October 2025 (approx. 1:46 to 2:13 in the clip)

This is the detail that makes her story more than a single anecdote. The first recovery was a moment of physical shock on a beach. The second was a slower, everyday kind of change: stairs, no symptoms, a week or less. Whatever one makes of the mechanism, the second story asks the reader to consider healing as a repeated practice rather than a single breakthrough.

Can you have a healed body and a diagnosis at the same time?

The most revealing line in the clip comes when Ivonne reports her doctor's reaction. "When I went to see my doctor, he said, 'But you still have osteoarthritis.' And I said, 'Yeah, I know, but I don't have any of the issues.'" Her doctor's response, as she tells it, was essentially to tell her to keep going anyway, since she clearly believed she had it.

"But you still have osteoarthritis." — her doctor, as Ivonne recounts it to the retreat

"Yeah, I know, but I don't have any of the issues." — Ivonne, in reply

This is the tension at the heart of the story, and it is worth sitting with rather than resolving too quickly. Osteoarthritis is typically described as a condition involving cartilage and bone, and a diagnosis can persist even when symptoms ease. Ivonne is not claiming the diagnosis disappeared. She is claiming that the experience of the disease, the swelling, the pain, the inability to walk, did. Her doctor's answer leaves room for both to be true. The condition is still on the chart. The symptoms, according to her, are not.

For readers who are living with a diagnosis, this distinction is the one that matters most. A person can feel dramatically better and still need the same monitoring, the same medical care, and the same honest conversation with a clinician. Nothing in the clip suggests Ivonne stopped seeing her doctor or abandoned treatment; the clip describes her going to her doctor, and it is her doctor who tells her the osteoarthritis is still there.

What about the story she tells about her daughter?

Ivonne closes with a second family account, and it is the most emotionally charged part of the recording. She says her daughter attended one of the events in San Diego. Her daughter has Down syndrome and wears glasses, and Ivonne writes that she "just put the wholeness and the healing" on her daughter. In her head, she says, she imagined her daughter would stop needing the glasses.

Ivonne, Denver recording, October 2025 (approx. 2:29 to 3:03 in the clip)

Three months later, she says, the family learned her daughter had a heart condition: the aorta runs to the opposite side and the heart has one fewer valve than usual. She describes frequent checks and a doctor who, after extensive exams, told her, "You don't have to ever come back." When Ivonne pressed, the doctor said he could not explain it: "her heart still is in the opposite direction, but it works perfectly well."

This part of the story needs the most care. The clip does not include the medical records, the names of the specialists, the diagnostic codes, or any statement from the daughter herself about glasses. The heart details are relayed secondhand by a parent who is describing a very frightening experience and her gratitude for its outcome. A responsible reader can take the account seriously as a family's experience without treating it as a clinical finding. It is also worth noting that Ivonne herself frames the story as a sign that the healing "works," rather than as a claim the medical team made.

How should you read a testimony like this?

Testimonials at retreats carry real emotional weight, and they also carry real limits. Here are three questions worth asking of any story like Ivonne's before you draw conclusions for your own life:

  • What was documented, and by whom? Ivonne reports what she saw in her own knee and what her doctor said. The clip offers no imaging reports or clinical notes.
  • What else changed? She was in a supportive retreat setting, following a structured practice, with family and friends involved. Those variables can shape how someone feels and reports pain, though the clip does not attempt to measure them.
  • Does your own medical team agree? The most useful thing Ivonne's story models is a patient who went back to her doctor and reported exactly what she was experiencing, including the part that did not match the chart.

The practice Ivonne describes, a daily picture of yourself free of the problem, is simple enough to try without spending money or changing your treatment plan. Treat it as a complement to your care, not a replacement for it. If you are dealing with a painful joint, a heart condition, or any other diagnosis, the right first move is a conversation with the clinicians who know your history.

Where to go from here

If Ivonne's account made you curious about the practice itself, the clearest next step is to look at what Dr. Joe Dispenza has published about his work, which the video description points to through his website and his YouTube channel. The clip also lists three recommended videos, which are a natural next stop for anyone who wants more context on the framework. For a more grounded reading, keep Ivonne's own sentence in mind: she still had osteoarthritis according to her doctor, and she still walked up the stairs. Both facts can sit in the same story, and that is part of what makes this one worth telling.

[0:00] When we finished the meditation, I

[0:02] wanted to peek and see if if it was

[0:04] swollen and and there was nothing.

[0:07] And ever since that day, I've never had

[0:10] any other issues.

[0:13] The first time I was in an event, it was

[0:15] 2019 and I had osteoarthritis in in both

[0:19] my legs, but the right one with thrush

[0:21] um bone with bone and I had my second

[0:24] operation and one of my friends said,

[0:25] "You know what? We're going to go to

[0:27] Cancun and and go to see Dr. Joe

[0:29] Dispenza." And I'm like, "Who's that?"

[0:31] And she's like, "Just look at the videos

[0:33] and and we're going to be there."

[0:37] So, while I was looking at the at the

[0:39] videos that that that he gave us,

[0:42] I would think that I was already cured

[0:45] and and so I went to my doctor and I

[0:47] asked him to operate again and take and

[0:48] take the metals out because I was

[0:50] completely sure that I was going to get

[0:52] healed.

[0:53] Of course, my family thought I was going

[0:54] nuts.

[0:56] So, I went to the retreat and on the

[0:58] third day, we were walking in in the

[1:00] beach and normally just walking normally

[1:03] would inflate my my knee to like a melon

[1:06] size filled with blood.

[1:09] And and I had a an apparatus wrapped

[1:11] around my my leg. So, I was walking in

[1:14] the beach and I took it off because I I

[1:16] I couldn't walk anymore. I did I wasn't

[1:18] wearing the crutches.

[1:21] And when we finished the meditation,

[1:23] I wanted to peek and see if if it was

[1:25] swollen and and there was nothing.

[1:28] And ever since that day, I've never had

[1:31] any other issues with my knee my well,

[1:33] my knee at all. It was like completely

[1:36] healed.

[1:38] This March um I had an accident and I

[1:40] hurt my my left knee.

[1:42] And so, I I would put it into come here

[1:45] to Denver.

[1:46] While I was doing that, I I imagined I

[1:49] came to the

[1:51] to the retreat and I every day I was

[1:53] doing tuning into new potentials and I

[1:55] would imagine myself, you know, my new

[1:56] self with any

[1:58] any kind of issues and it was just

[2:00] perfect. And I don't know how many days

[2:02] it it was less than a week.

[2:04] And and I went up the down the stairs

[2:07] and I noticed that I don't have anything

[2:09] else. And and I had already made the

[2:11] appointment to see my doctor.

[2:13] >> [laughter]

[2:13] >> So, when I went to see my doctor, he

[2:15] said,

[2:16] "But you still have osteoarthritis." And

[2:18] I said, "Yeah, I know, but I don't have

[2:20] any of the issues. You know, the And

[2:22] he's like, "Well, then just go cuz for

[2:24] some reason you know you got it."

[2:29] I also wanted to tell you guys that

[2:31] my daughter was a healee at one of the

[2:33] AFUE events in

[2:35] San Diego.

[2:37] And she has Down syndrome, she wears

[2:38] glasses, and I just put the wholeness

[2:41] and the healing.

[2:42] And in my head I thought she was going

[2:44] to stop using the glasses.

[2:46] And 3 months later

[2:48] she has a a special heart that her aorta

[2:51] goes to the other side and her heart has

[2:54] one less valve than ours. So, I had to

[2:56] check her before. I had to check her a

[2:57] lot. And we went to the doctor and he

[3:01] started doing all the exams and he said,

[3:03] "You don't have to ever come back."

[3:06] And I said, "What do you mean?" And he

[3:08] said, "I don't know. I don't know what

[3:09] to ex- I don't know what to tell you

[3:10] because

[3:11] her heart still is is in the opposite

[3:14] direction, but it works perfectly well.

[3:16] So, you don't have to come back.

[3:18] Everything is all good, you know. She's

[3:20] completely healed. So, thank you. Thank

[3:22] you. Thank you.

Preguntas Frecuentes

In this testimony, Ivonne describes it as a daily practice of imagining your new self without the issue you are dealing with. She says she used it after a 2026 knee injury and imagined herself free of symptoms each day. The clip does not walk through the full method, so this is her description of the practice as she lived it.
According to Ivonne, the symptoms disappeared, including swelling and pain, after the practice. Her doctor told her the osteoarthritis was still present, so the diagnosis itself was not reported as gone. The clip contains her account only, not imaging or clinical records.
She says that while watching Dr. Joe's videos she believed she was already cured, and she was completely sure she would heal. She asked her doctor to operate again and take out the metal hardware. She acknowledges her family thought she was going nuts.
The video does not present controlled research on osteoarthritis or visualization. Dr. Joe's work, as the video description summarizes it, draws on neuroscience, epigenetics, and spontaneous remission, but the clip relies on one participant's personal experience. Anyone with osteoarthritis should keep their doctor involved in monitoring and treatment.
Ivonne says her daughter, who has Down syndrome and wears glasses, attended an event in San Diego, and that she later learned her daughter had a heart condition with the aorta on the opposite side and one fewer valve. She says the doctor told her the daughter did not need to return, while noting the heart remained in the opposite direction. These are her secondhand accounts and are not clinically verified in the clip.
Ivonne says it took less than a week. She practiced the imagined-new-self meditation each day during the Denver retreat, then found she could go up and down stairs without symptoms.
Ivonne's story suggests a patient can practice visualization and still report to her doctor honestly. The safest approach is to treat such practices as a complement to professional care, not a substitute, and to discuss any changes in symptoms with your clinician.
