Picture the Monday immersion at a festival, booked by someone who already holds the full weekend pass. If they have to stop, dig up a code, type it in and hope it works, that is friction on top of friction, and it hands the job of remembering the deal back to the person who has already committed to being there. BrightStar's automatic pass-holder savings remove that step. You decide once, on the pass itself, what its holders save.
Setting up a saving on a pass
A saving belongs to the pass that earns it, so you set it up where you set up the pass, in the event wizard's Tickets step:
- 1In the event wizard's Tickets step, find the pass, for example your Premiere Pass
- 2Choose Give holders of this pass a discount
- 3Set the amount, as a percentage or a fixed amount off each item
- 4Choose what it applies to: whole categories such as Immersions, every add-on, particular ticket types, or merch
- 5Optionally limit how many discounted items each pass covers, then save
How does BrightStar recognise a pass holder?
In two ways, and the buyer does nothing in either. If the qualifying pass is in the same cart, it counts as a pass the buyer holds. If they bought the pass earlier and come back later for the immersion, the saving applies as long as they are signed in to the account that holds the pass, including a pass someone shared with them. A pass that has been cancelled or refunded in full no longer counts, and a pass already scanned at the door still does. The saving only ever applies within the same event: a Premiere Pass for this year's festival says nothing about another gathering.
Different passes, different savings
Each pass carries its own saving, so a Premiere Pass can give 20% off immersions while the regular Festival Pass gives 10%, and a single-class ticket gives nothing. Someone holding more than one qualifying pass gets the single best saving on each item. Savings never add up on top of one another, so nobody ends up with an immersion at 30% off because they happen to hold two passes.
What about discount codes?
A pass-holder saving and a discount code never stack. When both could apply, the buyer simply gets whichever saves them more, and when they come to the same amount the pass saving is used, so the code is not spent for nothing. You never have to work out in advance how a code and a pass will interact: the buyer always lands on the better of the two, and you never give away both.
