Julia Frodahl offers what she calls a garden of teachings for people drawn to deep inner work that restores self-love, presence and belonging. She describes the work as slow and honest, work that heals at the roots. Much of it happens in multi-week group programs, which combine teachings on the inner life, live calls and a supportive community. These programs now live in her online school, The Far Meadow. She also offers self-study courses, including Become Ocean, a 10-week training in meditation, non-reactivity and surrender, as well as courses on nature-based parts work and dream work.
Her private Inner Work, offered remotely to individuals, couples and family pairs, is rooted in compassion, Buddhist wisdom, neuroscience and Western psychology, primarily Jungian and Process-Oriented approaches. When appropriate she also draws on hypnosis, brainspotting and Somatic Experiencing.
Julia says she did not come to this work as a planned career. She came looking for her own way out of pain and to understand the world. Along the way she studied philosophy, spent time in Buddhist circles, wrote music, studied psychology and immersed herself in the language of dreams. Her yoga practice began in an Iyengar class in San Francisco in 1993. After about ten years of practice she earned her teaching certification from Alison West of Yoga Union in New York, and she has taught ever since.
At the heart of her work is the conviction that every person holds a wellspring of wisdom and love, and that the task is to clear what stands in the way. Her hope reaches past healing, toward people whose way of being serves the whole.
