The more you engage, the more accurate the recommendations get. You can also explicitly set preferences for traditions, formats (drop-in classes, weekend workshops, multi-day retreats), distance from home, and price range. Recommendations appear on your dashboard and in weekly emails (which you can opt into or out of any time).

Yes — discovering and attending events is always free. Creating an account, browsing events, following teachers, saving favorites, and receiving recommendations is completely free forever. You only pay for tickets to events you choose to attend, and you pay the organizer's listed price directly. There are no membership fees, no premium tiers for seekers, and no algorithmic paywalls. BrightStar believes transformational experiences should be accessible to all.

We support every kind of host — independent teachers, established studios, retreat centers, festival producers, and spiritual community leaders.

BrightStar offers three tiers. Seva is completely free with zero platform fees — you keep 100% of ticket sales (minus standard payment processing). Elevate ($0.89 flat + 1.85% per ticket) adds the gallery, highlights, testimonials, abandoned-cart recovery, affiliate engine, smart pricing, and all revenue tools. Amplify ($1.79 + 3.7% per ticket) layers email campaigns to our 350K+ list, Meta ads, custom design, and video hero. Stripe processing is on top of these (~3.05% + $0.40 per order) and matches industry standard.

Every teacher and venue on BrightStar can claim and verify their profile by confirming a verification link sent to their official website or social account. Verified profiles display a small badge so seekers know the listing is maintained by the actual teacher. We also manually review featured profiles, check social and Spotify links, and remove profiles that fail verification. This isn't a perfect filter, but it's a stronger signal than generic event aggregators that scrape without permission.

Yes. Many teachers offer livestreamed and on-demand sessions in addition to in-person gatherings. Filter the discovery feed by "Online" to see virtual offerings — daily livestreamed kirtan, recorded meditation courses, virtual sound baths, and online retreats. Online events typically cost less than in-person equivalents and remove travel barriers. You'll receive a private Zoom link or platform URL after purchase, plus a recording afterward where the teacher allows it.

BrightStar listings include accessibility tags so seekers can filter by physical access (wheelchair access, hearing assistance, scent-free spaces), pricing accommodations (sliding scale, donation-based, scholarship available), and inclusive framing (beginner-friendly, LGBTQ+ welcoming, all bodies welcome). Organizers self-report these tags and we encourage them to be explicit. Many teachers also offer trade or work-exchange spots; ask directly when contacting the organizer.

Refund policy is set by each organizer and displayed clearly on the event page before checkout. Most retreats use a tiered cancellation policy (e.g., full refund up to 60 days out, 50% up to 30 days, no refund inside 30 days). Workshops and classes typically allow full refunds up to 24 hours before start, then credit-only inside that window. If an organizer cancels an event, attendees receive a full automatic refund. For exceptional circumstances (illness, family emergency), contact the organizer directly — many extend grace beyond their published policy.

We require organizers to publish clear consent and safety guidelines for any modality involving physical touch (massage, partner yoga, breathwork). Profiles can be reported and reviewed if they violate community standards. We do not host events that promote coercive group dynamics, undisclosed psychedelic use in jurisdictions where they're illegal, or financial pressure tactics. Seekers can leave verified reviews after attending, helping the community surface trustworthy teachers and flag concerns. Reporting tools are available on every profile and event page.

Generic ticketing platforms (Eventbrite, Meetup, Facebook Events) treat transformational gatherings the same as concerts and conferences — they don't understand the modalities involved, and they don't help you fill seats. We organize artists by lineage and tradition, tag venues with the practices they actually host, and surface discovery by spiritual interests rather than generic categories. We also bundle marketing into the platform: a built-in affiliate engine where promoters earn commissions sharing your event, a brand ambassador program where every ticket buyer becomes a referral source, and our Amplify service that runs targeted Meta ads and email campaigns to our 350K+ subscriber list. Eventbrite charges you to list events and gives you a checkout. BrightStar charges $0 on the Seva tier and actively helps you sell tickets.
