Descripción
Myofascial Anatomy is an online yoga workshop on Zoom for anyone who loves anatomy or is curious about fascia. It is taught by Christine Wushke as part of her myofascial yoga training. You can take it as Module 8 of the 200-hour Myofascial Yoga Teacher Training, as a workshop for Yoga Alliance continuing education credits, or simply to bring myofascial yoga into your own practice. This is a weekend intensive that covers basic myofascial anatomy and how it relates to yoga, biotensegrity and functional movement.
What to Expect
The live session runs on a Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm Mountain time, on Zoom. Theory and experience share the day. Part of the class is spent on fascia theory, and part on embodied anatomy exercises, where the science is turned into movement and the felt sense of tissue continuity.
Topics include:
- Basic human anatomy as it applies to a functional yoga practice.
- Fascia as a holistic system, including collagen, elastin and the polysaccharide gel complex known as the extracellular matrix.
- Mechanotransduction: how gentle pressure in yoga poses affects the body at a cellular level.
- Viscoelasticity, and why it matters for a body whose shape is always changing.
- Basic biomechanics of movement, and how healthy alignment depends on properly distributed fascia.
- The molecular and bioelectrical structures of fascia, and energy anatomy, including the open question of whether the ancient meridian system can be found within the fascial system.
Alongside the live session, about six hours of self-paced video, audio and other self-study and practice guides are unlocked when you register.
Bonus practice sessions go with each module and take place once a month on a Wednesday. You do not have to attend them live, though they are a good chance to practice with the community and ask questions about the current content. Replays are provided as part of the course package.
