[0:35] >> Welcome to beautiful bottom day Barbados
[0:37] [music] boho fam.
[0:40] Tune into the magic of the fresh breeze
[0:42] [music]
[0:43] as we allow the sunshine to energize our
[0:46] bodies and [music] put our minds at
[0:48] ease.
[0:51] This upper body flexibility class is a
[0:54] great way to open your wings, man, and
[0:56] your breath. Get ready [music] to feel
[0:58] the strength of your shoulders and
[1:00] create even more mobility through the
[1:02] neck as we move into the muscles that
[1:05] open the chest. Discover what it feels
[1:08] like [music] to create more flexibility
[1:10] in your shoulders, arms, and upper back
[1:13] as we twist and undulate. You'll find
[1:16] even more magic than strength in your
[1:18] [music] plank.
[1:20] I made this class with plenty of
[1:21] alternatives to help you progress at
[1:24] your own pace.
[1:25] All you need is your mat and a smile on
[1:28] your face. Let's jump right in.
[1:31] >> [music]
[1:36] [music]
[1:41] [music]
[1:55] >> Namaste yogis. Super excited for you to
[1:58] join me in this upper body flow. Go
[2:00] ahead and bring your arms open nice and
[2:02] wide. We'll just start with some simple
[2:04] [music] shoulder circles. Wrapping the
[2:06] shoulders back, creating extension
[2:08] through the fingertips, utilizing the
[2:10] breath to really open up the chest.
[2:12] Now, we'll open up the fingers. Really
[2:14] allowing these breaths to expand all the
[2:17] way from the heart into the fingertips.
[2:19] Creating even more space now as you
[2:21] [music] bring the fingertips up and
[2:24] opposite the rotation. Big breaths here.
[2:27] Allow the breaths to create even more
[2:29] spaciousness through [music] your chest
[2:31] into your shoulders, all the way through
[2:33] your arms into your fingers. Big
[2:35] breaths. Open up those circles. And now,
[2:38] let's go ahead and really wrap the pinky
[2:40] [music] fingers up towards the sky. Same
[2:42] exact thing. Moving the shoulders
[2:44] forward, opening up even more through
[2:47] the forearms here. Should feel this all
[2:49] the way through your wrists into your
[2:51] pinky fingers.
[2:53] Breathe here.
[2:55] Go ahead and extend the arms and we'll
[2:57] go for some simple [music] twists. Allow
[2:59] the arms to really be loose here. After
[3:01] doing all of that engagement, we now
[3:04] have some big breaths to bring the
[3:06] energy all the way from the arms [music]
[3:09] into the shoulders. Utilizing the knees
[3:12] in a slight bend, allowing the hands to
[3:14] tap [music] the kidneys. Bringing some
[3:16] more energy up to the body with ease.
[3:20] Utilize the inhales to twist
[3:23] and really bring yourself [music] to a
[3:24] state where you can open up.
[3:27] Hands all the way up and then really
[3:30] drop down into [music] a goddess pose.
[3:33] Feeling that breath ride you all the way
[3:35] up.
[3:37] And then as you exhale, drawing the
[3:39] energy all the way down.
[3:43] Inhale, rise up, breathe up, lengthen
[3:45] up. And as you exhale, draw the energy
[3:47] all the way from your crown, doing a
[3:49] body scan through your knees to your
[3:51] feet. Inhale, rise [music] up. Exhale,
[3:54] push any false energy out of your body
[3:57] back into the earth. Inhale, rise up.
[4:01] Exhale, let it flow all the way down to
[4:03] the ground. Now, from this goddess
[4:05] stance, utilize the hands onto the knees
[4:08] to twist. Right shoulder comes down.
[4:10] Make some big pulses, breathing into the
[4:13] backside, creating even more length from
[4:15] your lower back to your crown.
[4:18] Opposite side, drop the left shoulder
[4:19] [music] down. Big bounces, really
[4:22] pulsing here for five times, breathing
[4:24] into the shoulder, lengthening the
[4:25] spine. Opposite side, pulse. Allow the
[4:29] breath to flow. Utilize your breath as
[4:31] you let go.
[4:34] Opposite side, really allowing your
[4:36] inhales and your exhales to breathe into
[4:39] the lower back all the way up. Now, as
[4:42] you exhale, bring your hands alongside
[4:44] your ankles all the way towards the
[4:46] earth, and really pulse into your legs.
[4:50] See if you can widen your legs, widen
[4:53] your hips, widen your shoulders. Deep
[4:56] inhale here. Go ahead and place your
[4:58] feet wide. Inhale, right hand comes
[5:01] down, left hand reaches up. Expand
[5:04] through your side body.
[5:05] Creating even more space, opening up
[5:08] into a wide-leg twisted [music] fold.
[5:12] Left hand comes down to the ground,
[5:14] exactly where the right hand was. Right
[5:16] hand reaches up to the sky, [music]
[5:17] twist.
[5:19] Utilize your breath to bring you to a
[5:21] deeper state of bliss. See if you can
[5:22] allow the chest to open even more.
[5:26] Wingspan open galore. Both hands come
[5:29] down to your ankles. If you can grab
[5:31] your ankles, or maybe you can grab your
[5:33] big toes, or maybe you're just touching
[5:35] [music] your shins. Wherever you are,
[5:36] it's okay. Take a deep inhale in, and as
[5:40] you exhale, allow the crown of your head
[5:42] to descend towards the ground. [music]
[5:45] Your head doesn't have to touch the
[5:47] ground. As close as you can get, [music]
[5:49] really allow the spine to lengthen. As
[5:52] you inhale, come up. Right hand comes
[5:54] over to your left ankle. Left hand comes
[5:57] to your left hip crease, and then open
[6:00] up. Twist open.
[6:02] Utilize your breath.
[6:04] Again, your right hand could come to
[6:06] your shin, maybe [music] even towards
[6:08] your knee, or maybe to the outside of
[6:09] the foot. Exhale, come down. [music]
[6:12] Utilize your breath, lengthen the spine,
[6:14] deep inhale. As you exhale, bring your
[6:16] left hand over to the right side.
[6:19] Right hand reaches up.
[6:22] And see if you can expand as much as you
[6:25] can [music] with your right hand.
[6:27] Again, you can easily adjust yourself,
[6:30] lengthening your spine, tuning into your
[6:32] midline as you open up all the way from
[6:35] your sacrum through your crown. [music]
[6:37] Inhale brings both hands down, lengthen
[6:40] through the spine with a gentle exhale,
[6:43] walk as you shift onto your right foot.
[6:46] Taking a bend and circle into your
[6:48] [music] right ankle.
[6:50] Breathing some fresh oxygen into the
[6:52] hamstring. Again, this is exactly what
[6:55] we need to be able to create even more
[6:57] length and strength to the hamstring. Go
[6:59] ahead and switch. Left leg extends
[7:01] forward. Take some big circles into the
[7:03] hamstring, the hip, and the ankle. So,
[7:06] we've been doing a lot of standing.
[7:07] Really getting some fresh movement into
[7:09] those lower limbs is important.
[7:12] From here, go ahead and plant your
[7:14] palms. We're going to take a nice gentle
[7:16] chin, chest,
[7:18] and scoop the chest up. As you exhale,
[7:21] scooping heart up and back. Inhale, bend
[7:25] knees, chest, chin. Scoop the heart up
[7:27] into your up dog. Exhale, knees, chest,
[7:30] chin up and back. Finding [music] knees,
[7:32] chest, chin brings you up to your up
[7:34] dog. And then as you exhale, gentle
[7:36] [music] swivel side to side.
[7:39] Really open up the spine and let the
[7:41] shoulders glide. [music] Take some fresh
[7:43] breaths here into your spine as you open
[7:46] up and allow yourself to really tune
[7:48] into your mind. Slowing down the breath
[7:51] so that you can breathe forth more
[7:53] breaths. Simple circles all the way
[7:55] back. Opening up the shoulder blades
[7:57] creating even more space from your ears
[8:00] to your shoulders.
[8:01] >> [music]
[8:02] >> Go ahead and look up and then as you
[8:03] exhale, dive down. Expand your arms out
[8:06] nice and wide.
[8:08] Ah, take a little breath as you rest. Go
[8:11] ahead and [music] bring your left foot
[8:13] behind your right. Spreading out your
[8:15] arms even more. Taking this time to
[8:18] reach your chin and chest away from the
[8:20] floor.
[8:22] Maybe your left hand comes to your left
[8:24] hip as you gently bounce out lifting the
[8:26] chest up. [music] Breathing up creating
[8:28] more space through the chest. Again,
[8:31] this is all upper body. So really allow
[8:33] yourself to open the hand even more.
[8:35] [music]
[8:36] See if you can expand and really spread
[8:38] through your chest.
[8:39] Open up your wingspan. Create more space
[8:42] from your heart all the way to your
[8:44] fingertips. [music] As you inhale, look
[8:45] up. As you exhale, look down.
[8:48] Inhale, look up. Exhale, look down.
[8:52] Inhale, look up. Exhale, [music]
[8:54] look down.
[8:56] Deep inhale here. Look up.
[8:58] Really stretching through the neck even
[9:00] more.
[9:01] And as you exhale, [music] bring your
[9:03] left hand back down to the floor.
[9:06] Undo your back foot and back into a nice
[9:08] aligned position. Hands next to your
[9:10] chest, [music] rise up into your up dog
[9:13] expanding your best as you exhale.
[9:15] [music]
[9:18] Gently lower down.
[9:20] Arms extend out nice and wide as your
[9:22] right foot comes behind your left.
[9:26] Right hand can connect with your right
[9:28] thigh as you just open up the right side
[9:30] body. Creating even more space through
[9:33] your left palm. See if you can expand
[9:35] through your left palm.
[9:37] And then reach your right hand up to the
[9:39] sky.
[9:40] If you have the spaciousness for it in
[9:42] your chest, go ahead and lift your head
[9:44] up off the mat and give it your best
[9:46] looking up and then down.
[9:49] Inhaling looking up, opening up the
[9:51] neck, exhaling looking down towards the
[9:53] earth. Breathing the spine open,
[9:56] creating even more space through the
[9:58] cervical spine.
[10:01] Deep inhale.
[10:02] Looking up towards the sky.
[10:05] Exhale looking down to the ground.
[10:08] Simply bring yourself back through
[10:09] center, arms expand out nice and wide.
[10:12] Press your hands right near your chest,
[10:14] inhale
[10:16] up to your cobra. Pressing into your
[10:18] palms, [music] keeping your pelvis down
[10:20] towards the ground.
[10:23] >> [music]
[10:23] >> Exhale lower down.
[10:25] Go ahead and place your gaze over to the
[10:26] left side. Lift your right leg up and
[10:29] then your left leg.
[10:31] Extend both hands back and see if you
[10:33] can capture the [music] outside of your
[10:35] ankles.
[10:36] As you take a deep inhale, lift the
[10:38] chest. And now as you exhale, think of
[10:40] kicking back into your feet even more.
[10:43] Maybe even taking a few rocks here to
[10:45] [music] explore how the breath can move
[10:47] into the chest to open up the shoulders
[10:50] and to expand the arms. [music]
[10:52] Exhale simply lower down nice and slow.
[10:56] Relax.
[10:57] Let the breath flow.
[11:00] Take your time to take a nice little
[11:01] rest.
[11:03] Take your time to recapture your breath.
[11:07] Maybe adjust a little.
[11:09] Really feel into your [music] hips, feel
[11:10] into your spine. Really take the feet,
[11:13] extend, and then take a bend as you
[11:16] capture [music] the inside of your feet
[11:18] now.
[11:19] This is the same exact posture only a
[11:21] different grip [music]
[11:22] to create even more spaciousness through
[11:25] the spine. Even more spaciousness
[11:27] through the chest. Even more
[11:29] spaciousness to give it your best kick.
[11:32] and exhale slowly lower.
[11:36] As you lower this time, see if you can
[11:38] relax your mind, take some big breaths
[11:41] in and out lengthening your spine.
[11:42] [music]
[11:45] Mhm,
[11:46] gently draw the hands next to your
[11:47] chest, [music] tuck your toes, energize
[11:50] your legs, lift the kneecaps up off of
[11:51] the mat.
[11:53] And really press [music]
[11:55] into the backs of the feet as you come
[11:56] up into the full up dog extending
[11:59] through your arms, tuck your hips up and
[12:01] back.
[12:02] As you swivel onto your right hand,
[12:04] extend your left hand up to the sky.
[12:07] Step the left foot in front of the right
[12:09] thigh. Take a nice [music] deep inhale,
[12:11] open up as much as you can.
[12:14] As you exhale, go ahead and reach over
[12:18] >> [music]
[12:18] >> with that left hand expanding through
[12:20] your side body, stretching all the way
[12:23] from your back hip through your rib cage
[12:25] into your fingertips. See if you can
[12:27] expand a little bit more.
[12:29] And as you exhale, use your core [music]
[12:32] twisting. Left hand comes to tap that
[12:34] right shoulder.
[12:36] Inhale open up.
[12:38] Exhale tap.
[12:40] Inhale open up.
[12:43] Exhale tap.
[12:45] Inhale open up utilizing the breath.
[12:48] Exhale tap.
[12:50] Utilize the inhales to expand and the
[12:52] exhales to contract.
[12:57] Last one, deep inhale. Exhale tap as
[13:01] close as you can towards that left
[13:03] shoulder. This time expand out. Left
[13:05] hand comes down to the ground. Step the
[13:07] left [music] foot back. Nice big breath
[13:09] here. Utilize the lower belly to lift up
[13:12] as your knees come down to the mat.
[13:14] [music] Again, you can take the same
[13:16] plank pose with the knees down on the
[13:18] ground or you can extend into the full
[13:20] plank pose [music] with the knees
[13:21] lifted. As you take a deep breath here,
[13:23] we'll stay in this lifted plank pose
[13:26] drawing the navel in towards the
[13:27] midline, arching the spine. [music]
[13:29] Take a deep inhale, lifting the right
[13:31] hand up to the sky. Create space through
[13:34] your arms, create [music] stability
[13:35] through your core. See if you can reach
[13:37] through your right fingertips just a
[13:39] little bit more.
[13:40] As you take a deep inhale, [music] lift
[13:42] the right foot in front of the left hip.
[13:44] Press the foot down into the earth
[13:46] [music] to lift the hips up.
[13:48] Expanding the right hand up and over
[13:52] your side body. Feeling the breath move
[13:54] all the way from the left heel into the
[13:57] side body of your left kidney.
[14:02] Reach the right [music] hand up to the
[14:03] sky, take a deep inhale, and as you
[14:05] exhale, tap the left shoulder.
[14:08] Inhale, open.
[14:11] Exhale, contract.
[14:13] Inhale, open.
[14:16] Exhale, contract.
[14:18] Inhale, open.
[14:20] Exhale, contract. Utilizing the breath
[14:22] to open your wingspan, and as you
[14:24] exhale, really feeling the energy of the
[14:26] core. See if you can twist just a little
[14:29] bit more, engaging your whole side body.
[14:32] Nice deep [music] inhale, deep exhale.
[14:34] Last one. Reaching up, expand up,
[14:38] breathe up, then place your right hand
[14:40] down to the floor, step the right
[14:41] [music] foot back. Stay in your plank
[14:43] pose. Find the strength, find the
[14:46] length, find the ability to really tap
[14:49] into the arms to create [music] even
[14:51] more breath into the back body. Gently
[14:54] draw the knees down to the mat, then the
[14:57] chest, then the chin, allowing the
[14:59] pressure of the hands to release from
[15:01] the floor as you reach [music] the hands
[15:03] up and back, utilize your core.
[15:05] Interlace the palms and see if you can
[15:07] lift your hands as far away [music] from
[15:09] your tailbone as possible. Really
[15:11] allowing this breath to open up the
[15:13] chest, creating a heart-centered
[15:15] awareness of your heart to the earth.
[15:18] Gently release,
[15:19] and tap into your self-worth, this sense
[15:22] of knowing who you are and what you're
[15:23] here for. Press into the ground, lift up
[15:26] through your crown into your up dog.
[15:28] Deep inhale.
[15:30] Exhale brings you all the way back. Down
[15:33] dog.
[15:34] Pedal into the feet. Breathe into the
[15:37] hands.
[15:39] Take this as an opportune time to reach
[15:41] the right leg up to the sky and draw the
[15:44] right foot in between the hands.
[15:46] Inhaling the heart forward, extending
[15:49] the chest up.
[15:50] Then exhale bow [music] into the
[15:52] straightened right leg.
[15:54] Inhale heart lifts up. Breathe up.
[15:57] Exhale [music] bow into the straightened
[16:00] right leg.
[16:01] Really allowing this movement to floss
[16:03] open the chest. Breathing into your
[16:05] body, giving it your best. Just two more
[16:08] big breaths.
[16:10] Ah.
[16:12] Deep inhale. Exhale straighten as much
[16:15] as you can. Really extend forward with
[16:18] your hands [music] and allow yourself to
[16:20] breathe into this extended arm and side
[16:24] body pyramid pose.
[16:27] Inhale as you place your gaze forward.
[16:29] Left hand comes down to the ground.
[16:31] Right hand reaches up to the sky for a
[16:33] twisted triangle. Parivrtta Trikonasana.
[16:36] >> [music]
[16:37] >> Utilizing the energy of the back foot to
[16:40] lift the back leg up. Right hand reaches
[16:43] forward. Take a generous bend into your
[16:45] right knee.
[16:45] >> [music]
[16:45] >> Coming into a nice big bend. Drawing the
[16:49] left knee down to the ground. You can
[16:51] reach the right hand back. If you can,
[16:54] >> [music]
[16:54] >> capture the back foot.
[16:56] Take a few gentle circles. Even if
[16:58] you're just reaching the hand back, see
[17:01] if you can find some movement in the
[17:02] hips to create more mobility as you open
[17:05] up through the chest.
[17:07] Really finding those big circles into
[17:09] the shoulder blade. Moving the whole
[17:12] entire shoulder blade. And then, as you
[17:15] exhale, kick into your back foot.
[17:17] [music] And see if you can expand
[17:18] through your chest even more.
[17:20] Keeping your left hand grounded towards
[17:22] the earth and to the floor, simply
[17:24] release [music] the back foot. Right
[17:27] hand comes forward, inhale, rise up.
[17:29] Lift your back knee away from [music]
[17:31] the floor, come into your crescent pose,
[17:33] reaching up, rising up.
[17:36] Arms open out. [music] Cactus the arms
[17:38] and take five big circles back, creating
[17:41] even more space through your side body,
[17:44] opening up the palms. Big circles.
[17:49] Last three.
[17:51] Two.
[17:52] And one. Inhale, hands reach up, breathe
[17:55] up, lengthen up, and as you exhale,
[17:57] bring your hands towards the earth,
[17:59] right foot steps back.
[18:01] Lower through nice and slow, chaturanga.
[18:05] Inhale, rise up to your up dog. Extend
[18:07] through the arms and feel the length in
[18:09] your chest. As you exhale, draw your
[18:11] navel in and up, and we're going on to
[18:13] the left. Nice deep inhale as you
[18:16] breathe into your down dog.
[18:18] Feel into the stability. Feel into how
[18:22] you can find balance right here, right
[18:25] now, before we even start on the left
[18:27] side.
[18:28] Take a deep inhale.
[18:31] Exhale fully.
[18:35] Left leg reaches up to the sky, deep
[18:37] breath, and as you exhale, step that
[18:39] foot in between the hands.
[18:42] Inhale, heart lifts forward.
[18:44] Exhale, fold.
[18:47] Deep inhale, [music] heart lifts
[18:48] forward. Exhale, fold. See if each time
[18:51] you lift forward, you can extend through
[18:53] your chest and your chin, and each time
[18:55] that you [music] fold, you can bow a
[18:56] little bit more in. Last one. Deep
[18:59] inhale. Exhale, fold, big breath.
[19:03] Exhale, fold, and this time we will
[19:05] hold. Engaging the right quadricep as
[19:08] much as you can. See if you can wrap the
[19:11] right [music] hip forward and extend
[19:12] forward with your hands.
[19:14] Then gently place your right hand down
[19:17] and lift your left hand up to the sky.
[19:19] Coming into this twisted triangle pose,
[19:22] seeing if you can lift your left hand
[19:24] even more high. Engaging through your
[19:27] right leg, lift the knee away [music]
[19:28] from the floor.
[19:30] Deep inhale here, and as you exhale,
[19:32] generous bend in your left knee, bring
[19:34] the right knee down to the floor.
[19:37] Open up the chest as much as you can,
[19:38] and again, you can stay right here. This
[19:41] is an incredible stretch, or you can
[19:44] grab the inside of the back foot. And as
[19:46] you do so, find some gentle circles into
[19:49] the hip.
[19:51] Creating even more spaciousness.
[19:54] Diving deeper into your inhales,
[19:56] lengthening your exhales.
[19:59] Creating a sense of ease, seeing if you
[20:01] can move your shoulder here.
[20:03] Ridding your body of any disease as you
[20:06] kick into your back foot, open up the
[20:08] heart even more.
[20:10] Perhaps you up your gaze, looking up
[20:12] towards the sky as you explore. Simply
[20:15] release. Left hand comes [music] down to
[20:17] the floor. Tuck the back toes, lift up,
[20:20] breathe up, lengthen up into your
[20:22] crescent pose.
[20:25] Take this breath into your chest, and as
[20:27] you exhale, cactus the arms.
[20:30] Big circles here, really allowing those
[20:33] circles to move the elbows back.
[20:36] Big breath.
[20:37] Opening up the space behind the heart.
[20:43] Allowing this to be an opportunity
[20:44] [music]
[20:45] to breathe you up
[20:48] into your crescent pose. Hands reach up,
[20:50] breathe up, lengthen up.
[20:52] As you exhale, step that left foot back
[20:54] right into your plank pose. Strengthen,
[20:57] feel the length in your legs, feel the
[21:00] openness in your chest.
[21:02] Knees come [music] down, and then allow
[21:04] yourself to take a simple rest, resting
[21:06] your heels towards your sit bones and
[21:09] drawing the hands to heart center.
[21:12] Feel into your heart as yet again we
[21:15] restart the beauty of the heart.
[21:19] Go ahead and come into a comfortable
[21:21] seated position where your [music] heart
[21:23] can shine. Hands reach up, breathe up,
[21:25] lengthen up into your midline and take a
[21:27] simple twist. Right hand comes over to
[21:30] your left knee.
[21:32] Take a deep inhale as you inhale chin
[21:34] lifts up. Go ahead and rock to the
[21:36] opposite side. Inhale chin lifts [music]
[21:38] up, breathe up, lengthen up, exhale rock
[21:41] it to the opposite side. Opening up the
[21:43] neck and the trapezius muscles once
[21:45] more. As you inhale come back through
[21:47] center, hands reach up, use your core as
[21:50] you twist.
[21:51] Left hand to your right knee, right hand
[21:53] behind the back body.
[21:55] >> [music]
[21:55] >> Inhale heart lifts up. Exhale chin to
[21:58] chest. Inhale chin comes all the way
[22:00] over, chin to chest. Big circles opening
[22:04] up the neck, creating more space in the
[22:06] trapezius muscles and most importantly
[22:09] relaxing the spine. Inhale brings you
[22:11] [music] back through the midline. Go
[22:13] ahead and draw the hands back.
[22:15] We call these scissor arms. Bringing
[22:18] those hands facing down, really allow
[22:22] the strength to lift through the crown.
[22:24] Now hands facing up, see if you can
[22:26] really create even more space to allow
[22:29] the shoulders, [music]
[22:30] the heart, and the hands to open. Hands
[22:33] reach up, breathe up, lengthen up and as
[22:36] you exhale draw the hands to heart
[22:38] center.
[22:39] Remind yourself of the power that you
[22:41] have in your hands as you give yourself
[22:43] a nice big hug.
[22:45] Crossing the right hand underneath the
[22:47] left.
[22:48] Hands come to your shoulders, look up
[22:50] [music] towards the sky.
[22:53] Realize that all of your intentions are
[22:55] rising up high and as you take [music] a
[22:58] deep inhale open the arms up once more
[23:01] and feel yourself. Hug yourself as
[23:03] [music] you gently bow your chin in.
[23:06] Bracing yourself with this gratitude as
[23:09] this is where it all begins.
[23:12] With this sense of love.
[23:14] Namaste. And thank you for joining me
[23:17] [music] in this heart opening arms
[23:19] expanded class today.
[23:22] See you next time.
