UFO Disclosure, Identity, and the Belief That Can't Be Wrong

A six-minute conversation on Gaia's channel, hosted by Jim Curtis with UAP advocate and producer Josh Golembeske, opens on a question most disclosure content quietly avoids: what happens to a person if the event they have organized their life around never comes? The video's first claims concern a 2023 congressional hearing, a supposed 80-year cover-up, and a secret program that allegedly reaches for UFOs through meditative states. Those are the speakers' assertions, not established facts, and the excerpt does not verify them. The more useful thread runs underneath: how fear and ridicule keep a topic buried, how a belief becomes a matter of group survival, and why a prediction that fails can feel like a personal collapse. The description promises a guided self-inquiry practice at the end, and that is where the conversation turns deeply personal.

What is this video actually arguing?

The cold open does not sell aliens. It sells a feeling. "And what if everything you believe turns out to be wrong?" the host asks at the very start (0:00), and then the frame tightens: "What happens to you if disclosure doesn't happen and you are not proven right?" It is a strange opener for a UFO video, because it treats disclosure less as a revelation and more as a test of belief.

The description frames the same tension: is disclosure really about extraterrestrials, or about "what happens to humanity when our entire understanding of reality shatters?" That is the spine of the piece. The hardware questions, whether non-human intelligence is real and what agencies know, are present, but they are the setup. The payoff is psychological.

Why does a 2023 hearing still anchor the conversation?

Golembeske returns repeatedly to David Grusch, whom he describes as an intelligence officer who testified before Congress in 2023. "So don't believe me, just believe the whistleblowers," he says at the top of his account (1:10), and he claims Grusch described an "80-year cover-up of this phenomenon." He also outlines what he calls a three-part program: crash retrieval, reverse engineering, and a psionics component he describes as the most unsettling. Those are his characterizations of testimony he says the public can watch for itself. Viewers should check the hearing directly rather than rely on a secondhand summary, including this one.

Golembeske's claims grow more speculative at this point. He says that people in these programs reach out "in these meditative states" and use a classified technology he calls the "dog whistle" that "immediately triggers UFOs to show up" (1:47). He says he has spoken with several people in these programs. None of this is documented in the excerpt, and it should be treated as his account. What is worth noticing is the structure of the argument: each claim pushes the audience further from the mainstream, and each one raises the stakes of being wrong.

How do fear and ridicule keep a topic buried?

The most analytically interesting passage is Golembeske's account of why the subject has been dismissed. He describes two tactics. "One, they made us deeply scared of it through the media," he says, pointing to invasion films. He is candid that he enjoys those movies, but argues they are "designed to make you give a deep-seated fear of ETs" (2:15). The second tactic is ridicule. "At the same time they've made us ridicule it, they made it silly." Fear and mockery work together, he argues, because each discourages the other: a person who is scared does not want to discuss it, and a person who finds it silly does not need to.

Whatever one thinks of the larger claim, the psychological mechanism he describes is familiar from any topic that carries social cost. The concept is simple: fear makes the subject feel dangerous, mockery makes it feel embarrassing, and together they make silence the rational choice. That is a useful lens for any belief that sits outside consensus, whether or not it involves aircraft.

Why does holding a belief become a survival issue?

Golembeske extends the point into group psychology. He says people fear being kicked out of the group, and that "your survivability could be in jeopardy" if you say the wrong thing. "That's the basic law of it" (3:03). From there he argues that the ridicule has trained many people into "a self-appointed defender of the status quo," someone who loudly disavows the topic to stay safe inside their group.

He describes the people publicly exploring the subject as heroes, "pushing the envelope at great cost socially in their own lives." The framing treats social risk as a measure of sincerity. Whether or not that is fair, it reveals how the speaker understands belonging: as something that can be lost, and therefore something that shapes what people are willing to believe out loud.

What does the mindfulness comparison suggest about normalizing fringe ideas?

Golembeske offers an analogy from a conversation he had with someone who works with meditation and hypnosis. Mentioning hypnosis, he says, makes people think of mind control. Then he recalls that when Oprah talked about mindfulness on her show two decades ago, people mocked it too. "Today we say just mindfulness, but back then that was the first little step" (4:13).

The analogy is less about meditation than about how a practice moves from strange to ordinary. Language does much of the work. A term that sounds exotic in one decade becomes a shrug in the next. Golembeske suggests disclosure may be at a similar inflection point, a claim that depends on the same slow shift in what people feel comfortable saying.

What happens when the prediction doesn't come true?

This is the moment the video becomes personal. Golembeske notes that "millions of people" are ready for disclosure, that many have watched the documentaries and read the tranches, and that some have circled 2027 as a disclosure year. Then Curtis asks the question the whole piece has been circling: "What happens to you if five years goes by and disclosure doesn't happen and you are not proven right?" (5:15)

Golembeske's first answer is defensive. "I know I'm right," he says, before admitting he has to "unpack my own programming" because he built his world around it. He then says the quiet part: "I think I would struggle because my whole identity is based off of it" (the same concern, in his words, that the cold open previewed). "It can't be not true, right? Or I'm in trouble." Curtis responds, "Your identity is coming under fire" (5:48), and Golembeske admits that "it would destroy me."

The exchange is valuable because it names a dynamic that applies well beyond UFOs. When a belief becomes the structure of a person's identity, a failed prediction is not an error to correct. It becomes a threat to self. The more of a life rests on being right, the harder it is to hold the belief lightly enough to revise it.

How does the self-inquiry practice work?

The description promises a guided practice "designed to help you trace a limiting belief back to the moment it formed, understand how it dictates your daily reality, and imagine who you could become without it." The excerpt available for this article ends before that segment begins, so this piece cannot reproduce its steps. What the description does establish is the logic: locate the origin of the belief, observe how it shapes daily choices, and then picture the self that exists without it.

That logic stands on its own. A person can apply it to any belief that has started to feel like identity. Ask when the belief first formed, what it protected you from, and what you would have to admit if it were not true. Then ask what you would do differently tomorrow if you no longer needed it to be right.

Where to go from here

  • Watch the full video to hear the self-inquiry practice in its entirety, since this article covers only the conversation's first part.
  • Check the Grusch testimony directly before accepting any summary of its contents, including the claims about crash retrieval, reverse engineering, and psionics.
  • Try the inquiry on a belief of your own: trace its origin, note how it shapes your week, and write down who you might be without it.
  • Notice where fear and ridicule show up in your own conversations about unfamiliar ideas, and ask what each one is protecting.

[0:02] planet.

[0:03] >> And what if everything you believe turns

[0:06] out to be wrong?

[0:07] >> What happens [music] to you if

[0:10] disclosure doesn't happen and you are

[0:12] not proven right? [music]

[0:13] >> God, that's a great question. I think I

[0:14] would struggle because my whole identity

[0:16] is based off of it.

[0:18] >> Like it can't be not true, right? Or I'm

[0:19] in trouble.

[0:20] >> And just how powerful can manifestation

[0:22] [music]

[0:22] become?

[0:23] >> You're going to give us the tool that we

[0:25] can all use for manifestation. [music]

[0:26] >> a tool that we can all use and it's

[0:28] almost scary how powerful it can be.

[0:30] >> Tonight, we [music] step beyond the

[0:32] program. We break free from unconscious

[0:34] patterns.

[0:36] We explore what's truly possible.

[0:45] >> Well, we have had presidents who say,

[0:46] "Yeah, this is real." We have generals

[0:49] who say, "Yeah, this is real." Um we

[0:51] have enough information now where I'm

[0:55] wondering myself

[0:57] >> Yeah.

[0:57] >> how does this change the world? How does

[0:59] this change my life?

[1:01] >> Why is it that we are not taking this

[1:03] more seriously?

[1:04] >> That is a great question and everyone

[1:06] needs to understand what has happened

[1:07] over the last 80 years. So, let me back

[1:10] up a little bit. In 2023, so don't

[1:12] believe me, just believe the

[1:13] whistleblowers. David Grusch was an

[1:14] intelligence officer who under testimony

[1:16] in front of Congress, on TV, you can go

[1:18] watch this, said something. He said

[1:20] there's been an 80-year cover-up of this

[1:22] phenomenon. There's three parts to this

[1:24] program.

[1:25] There is a crash retrieval part of this

[1:27] where there are teams that go out

[1:29] >> We've retrieved crashes.

[1:30] >> Retrieve crashes and I could go on for

[1:32] hours about that. It's not that simple

[1:33] as a crash. Sometimes we target them.

[1:35] There is a reverse engineering

[1:37] >> We target them to make them crash?

[1:40] >> Yeah.

[1:41] >> Ah.

[1:41] >> It gets really dark and complicated and

[1:43] even

[1:43] >> Wow.

[1:44] >> And there's good and bad. There's people

[1:45] who reach out in these I'll go down a

[1:47] rabbit hole real quick. Um they reach

[1:49] out in meditative states, this thing

[1:50] called psionics. I've directly talked to

[1:52] several people in these programs who did

[1:54] it for the program and publicly. And

[1:56] they reach out in these meditative

[1:57] states and they use this technology

[1:59] called the dog whistle. And whatever

[2:00] that technology is is classified and

[2:02] what it does is it immediately triggers

[2:04] UFOs to show up. It almost seems like

[2:06] they're all around all the time and they

[2:07] can instantly be here.

[2:08] >> Why do you think that this topic has

[2:12] been ridiculed and kind of set aside?

[2:15] >> They've done two things from a

[2:17] psychological point of view that have

[2:19] really damaged disclosure on purpose.

[2:20] Now they're trying to unwind it with

[2:22] these tranches. They've done two things.

[2:23] One, they made us deeply scared of it

[2:25] through the media.

[2:26] >> Right.

[2:26] >> Invasion movies, shoot alien movies. And

[2:28] by the way, I love those movies but I

[2:30] know they're propaganda. They're great,

[2:31] watch them, enjoy them, it's okay. But

[2:33] they're designed to make you give a

[2:34] deep-seated fear of ETs and at the same

[2:37] time they've made us ridicule it, they

[2:39] made it silly. What a powerful like

[2:41] combination of things to get over like

[2:44] I'm really scared of that subject, I

[2:45] don't want to talk about it and it's

[2:46] silly so I don't want to talk about it.

[2:48] I just went home recently Jim

[2:49] >> Yeah.

[2:50] >> I was talking to my cousin and he was

[2:51] just giving me so much crap about being

[2:53] in the UFOs in full time.

[2:54] >> Island?

[2:55] >> In Rhode Island.

[2:56] >> Forget it, I'm from Boston. It's like

[2:57] not nothing but

[2:58] >> Right, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you've

[3:00] lost it.

[3:00] >> They'll give you crap, you know what I

[3:01] mean? And it was an interesting

[3:03] conversation because I just realized

[3:04] some people are not ready at all and

[3:06] this program has done this to them cuz

[3:08] there's a powerful thing about group

[3:09] psychology, right? Where you want to be

[3:11] a part of the group as a survival

[3:12] mechanism and if you say the wrong

[3:14] thing, you could be kicked out of the

[3:15] group and your survivability could be in

[3:17] jeopardy, right? That's the basic law of

[3:19] it. So people with the UFOs, they've

[3:21] trained us to be to everyone to be a

[3:23] self-appointed defender of the status

[3:25] quo.

[3:25] >> Okay.

[3:26] >> They're like I am I am like uh I don't

[3:28] believe in that and that's ridiculous

[3:29] and I'm safe over here in my group. So

[3:30] the people out there are trailblazing

[3:32] and talking about this are heroes

[3:33] because they've been pushing the

[3:35] envelope at great cost socially in their

[3:37] own lives. So long story short, this

[3:39] disinformation program has has demonized

[3:42] the topic to make us all think it's

[3:44] scary and and ridiculous.

[3:46] >> Right.

[3:46] >> And they did a great job.

[3:47] >> Yes. Of course, in the beginning when

[3:49] something happened, they would

[3:51] they would trivialize it and make it

[3:53] taboo.

[3:54] >> Right.

[3:54] >> So that was the same propaganda so that

[3:57] it was this stayed undisclosed.

[4:00] >> Yeah, that's how they do it.

[4:01] >> And now how do you how do you reverse

[4:03] that is really really difficult. You

[4:05] know, I was speaking with someone the

[4:07] other day. I was talking what did I do?

[4:09] And meditation and hypnomeditation, some

[4:11] hypnosis,

[4:13] other things. And she's she said, you

[4:15] know, some some of these things that you

[4:17] talk about, you know, are ridiculed and

[4:20] or

[4:21] people are afraid of them. Right? If you

[4:23] say hypnosis, they say, don't mind don't

[4:25] don't put me under mind control type of

[4:27] stuff. And she said, if you look at it,

[4:31] you know, 20 years ago Oprah

[4:34] was on the Oprah show talking about

[4:36] mindfulness.

[4:37] And everybody did the same thing then

[4:40] to Oprah.

[4:41] >> Just mindfulness.

[4:42] >> Just mindful. Well,

[4:44] >> Which is so simple. Today it's just

[4:45] mindfulness.

[4:46] >> Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[4:47] >> Then it was like, who is this cook

[4:49] talking about like, oh really? What? And

[4:52] and today we say just mindfulness, but

[4:54] back then that was the first little

[4:55] step. And perhaps this is the inflection

[4:59] point of this now. But I ask you this,

[5:01] there are millions of people that now

[5:02] are ready for disclosure. They believe

[5:04] it, they've watched every documentary,

[5:05] they've read all these tranches, they

[5:07] want to know what it is, they're

[5:08] wondering if they're in the ocean. And

[5:10] what if, you know, they think 2027 is

[5:12] disclosure year?

[5:13] >> Right. A lot of chatter.

[5:15] >> And what if it doesn't happen? What

[5:16] happens to these people?

[5:17] >> Ooh, that's a great question cuz you're

[5:19] like you're almost asking me that cuz in

[5:21] some level

[5:21] >> asking you that.

[5:22] >> You [laughter] know what I mean?

[5:23] >> What happens to you if 5 years goes by

[5:27] and disclosure doesn't happen and you

[5:30] are not proven right?

[5:32] >> Okay, there's a lot to be I know I'm

[5:34] right, but

[5:36] do I have to unpack my own programming

[5:37] cuz I built my whole like world around

[5:39] it? Like it can't be not true, right? Or

[5:40] I'm in trouble. That's so funny. I was

[5:42] going to use that against the people who

[5:43] don't believe, but that's a great

[5:45] question. I didn't expect

[5:46] >> You're not in trouble.

[5:47] >> But no, it would destroy me.

[5:48] >> Your identity is coming under fire.

[5:52] >> that's that's this funny. I was going to

[5:53] talk about the reverse people who going

[5:54] to have to deal with this when their

[5:55] whole identity is based off not being

[5:57] real. I never been asked how would I

[5:59] would feel. God, that's a great

[6:00] question.

[6:00] >> I think

Preguntas Frecuentes

In this video, UAP advocate Josh Golembeske frames disclosure as a question of what happens to people when their understanding of reality shatters, not only whether non-human intelligence exists. The conversation treats the psychological and social effects of confirmation as the larger stake. These are the speaker's framings, not established conclusions.
In the video, Golembeske describes Grusch as an intelligence officer who testified before Congress in 2023 and claimed an 80-year cover-up of the phenomenon. Those characterizations are the speaker's account, so viewers should review the hearing itself for the actual testimony.
Golembeske argues that two tactics have worked together: films that instilled deep fear of extraterrestrials, and mockery that made the subject seem silly. He adds that group belonging creates social pressure, so people risk exclusion by taking the topic seriously.
The video's self-inquiry practice, as described, asks you to trace a limiting belief back to the moment it formed, observe how it shapes daily life, and imagine who you could become without it. The full guided steps appear later in the video and are not reproduced in this article.
The conversation suggests that when a belief becomes central to identity, a failed prediction feels like a threat to the self rather than a simple error. Golembeske admits that being proven wrong would be deeply destabilizing for him, which is why the video links the question to personal programming.
Golembeske compares the disclosure debate to Oprah's mindfulness segments two decades ago, when people mocked the practice before it became common. He presents this as an example of how unfamiliar ideas move from ridicule to ordinary language over time.
