Beschreibung

Understanding, Dealing with, and Learning to Avoid Injuries – Lower Body is an online anatomy workshop with Deane Juhan, a Trager practitioner and longtime bodywork teacher. It is a two-hour live session on Zoom for yoga teachers and students, bodyworkers and movement therapists who want to understand how past injuries heal and how to practice asanas with strength and lengthening without making them worse.

What to Expect

The session sits within Deane Juhan's Dynamic Anatomy course and runs from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm Pacific Time. It is built around a few practical questions. What accommodations are needed to heal past injuries without exacerbating them? What attitudes and methods help students work with the neuromuscular and bio-mechanical systems? Which areas of anatomy are most often involved in past injuries, and so most deserve attention as a practice develops? This session focuses on the lower body.

Deane Juhan is known for making anatomy, physiology and neurology vivid and accessible. The class aims to give you new images, language and concepts for understanding the body, mind and spirit, drawing on recent research and decades of hands-on experience. The wider aim is to weave this material into a coherent picture of how body, mind and deeper self interact, so that function improves and impairments that have limited a vibrant life can ease.

About Deane Juhan

Deane Juhan trained in residence at Esalen Institute from 1973 to 1990 and has worked as a professional bodyworker for 30 years. He is a Trager practitioner and instructor with a private practice in the Berkeley area. He is the author of "Job's Body: A Handbook for Bodywork" and "Touched by the Goddess: The Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Dimensions of Bodywork." His interest lies in the relationship between mind, body and spirit, and in the creative forces at work in self-development, healing and artistic expression. His workshops have been presented across the US, Canada, Europe and Japan, combining current research on the body-mind with his years of practice.

Before You Go

The course is designed for bodyworkers and movement therapists of all kinds. Practitioners of massage, yoga, Trager, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, deep tissue work, chiropractic, physical therapy and dance therapy have all taken part in Deane's classes before.

The class takes place online. The Zoom link arrives in your confirmation email, with reminder emails two days before and one hour before the start. A recording is sent automatically to everyone registered, so if the time does not suit you, you can still register and watch afterward. Continuing education hours are available for NCBTMB, and a certificate is sent at the end of the series for use toward renewing board certification.

Payment can be made by debit or credit card through PayPal.
