Trauma-Informed Shipibo Ayahuasca Immersion · Ananda Lodge, Playa Grande

This is an eight-day, seven-night Shipibo ayahuasca retreat at Ananda Lodge in Playa Grande, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is a trauma-informed ayahuasca immersion for people who want to work with the plant medicine inside a small, carefully held container. Ananda keeps its retreats intimate, with a maximum of ten guests.

What to Expect

The week centres on ayahuasca ceremonies held with master healers in the Shipibo tradition. Ceremonies include sacred icaros, the healing songs of the lineage, and traditional practices such as the vomitivo and floral baths. Guests also have individual consultations with the healers.

Care runs through the whole retreat rather than sitting only around the ceremonies. It begins with a thorough intake process and somatic preparation sessions before you arrive. During the week, on-site navigation sessions help you make sense of what comes up. Afterwards, months of integration support follow you home.

Between ceremonies, Ananda offers tools for settling and understanding the experience: somatic workshops, art therapy, guided breathwork and integration guidebooks, with Ananda's medicine guides alongside you.

The Setting

Ananda is a boutique eco-luxury lodge above Playa Grande on Costa Rica's Guanacaste coast. The lodge's retreats include ocean-view accommodation, gourmet meals prepared by a private chef, and an excursion to Playa Grande beach. The team handles accommodation, nourishment and logistics so guests can stay with their own process.
