Beschreibung

The Path of Meditation and Embodiment is a free, 90-minute online meditation program for anyone curious about embodied practice, whether you are new to meditation or want to return to the foundations. It is led by Larry Welsh and Susan Aposhyan and offered by Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. It takes place live on a Tuesday evening, so you can practice from wherever you are.

What to Expect

The session explores the basics of embodied meditation, a practice that awakens a sense of presence with the whole alive being and unites body and mind. Feeling, breathing, movement and meditation allow awareness to move with the ever-changing tone of each moment. The aim is to work with, and heal, body, mind and emotions, returning to a calm, inquisitive and open way of being.

The evening runs from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Mountain Time. You will begin with contemplative practice and embodied meditation, then be introduced to 3-H breathing, core flow and spinal movement. These are some of the practices Larry and Susan explore more deeply on their on-land retreat in May, so the session works as a first look at that material as well as a complete evening of practice on its own.

The program belongs to the Drala Mountain Online Practice Series, a collection of tuition-free online offerings held on select Tuesdays at the same hour.

About Larry Welsh and Susan Aposhyan

Larry Welsh and Susan Aposhyan are married, with two children and four grandchildren. Both have taught meditation since the 1980s. Larry has taught tai chi at Naropa University since 1985, and he is also an acupuncturist who works with herbs and nutrition. Susan was the founding director of the somatic psychotherapy program at Naropa.

Before You Go

This is an introductory session, suitable for newcomers and for experienced practitioners who want to revisit the basics. There is no fee to attend. In keeping with the Buddhist tradition of dāna, the heartfelt act of giving to express appreciation and support the teachings, a tax-deductible donation of any amount can be made at registration, but it is entirely optional.

The program is held online, so it does not include accommodation or meals. The May retreat at Drala Mountain Center is a separate offering with its own registration.
