Tender Exchange

Tender Exchange is a participatory installation that transforms whispered words into collective ritual. Participants take a carved wooden heart and share something that matters—a hope, memory, truth, or dream—before passing it to another person. As each voice is added, the heart's rhythm shifts, holding the presence of all who came before. When full, the heart returns to the installation, where whispered messages become part of a shared listening space. Created by Radical Ritual, a collaborative studio devoted to reweaving connection through folk-based participatory art, this work invites people to gather, be witnessed, and recognize their interdependence through story, feeling, and embodied experience. Set against the backdrop of everyday disconnection, Tender Exchange offers a quiet but potent act of community.
