Beschreibung
Silence Music Prayer is an all night ceremony at PachaMama Eco Village & Retreat Center in Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is open to anyone who wants to spend a night in meditation, prayer and song, held as a gathering of family rather than a performance. No leader or artist is named for this ceremony, so it is best understood as a communal offering of the PachaMama community and its guests.
What to Expect
The ceremony is described as an opportunity to come together as a family to meditate, celebrate and give thanks. Three elements shape the night: silence, prayer and singing. Silence gives the gathering its ground, prayer gives it its intention, and singing lets the whole group give thanks aloud together.
Because it runs through the night, the ceremony asks for a different kind of attention than a daytime session. There is time for stillness to settle, for voices to warm up and for the mood to shift as the hours pass. Expect a meditative, devotional atmosphere in which gratitude is the common thread, not a program of lectures or demonstrations.
The ceremony shares its name with a four-day immersion that PachaMama also holds, Silence Music Prayer, which invites people to reconnect with their authentic voice through silence, music, prayer and presence, and to experience the body as an instrument. The all night ceremony is a separate event, and a good fit if you want a single night of the same spirit.
The Setting
PachaMama is an eco village and retreat center in the tropical forest near Nicoya, in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Its grounds include a jungle reserve with river banks, and the center hosts meditation retreats, yoga workshops, body cleanse programs, emotional healing workshops, Red Road ceremonies and musical journeys throughout its season. An all night ceremony here happens within that forest setting, among a community used to gathering for ceremony and sound.
PachaMama closes its doors for the rainy season, so the ceremony takes place within the months when the center is open.
Before You Go
The ceremony is framed as a family gathering, and nothing in its description asks for prior experience. If you are new to ceremony, a willingness to sit in silence, to pray in your own way and to sing with others is all that is called for. Since the night is long, plan to come rested and dressed for tropical evening conditions, with something comfortable to sit on if you tend to need it.
