Beschreibung

The Climate Action Group is an online monthly gathering for people who want to meet the climate crisis from the ground of Buddhist practice. It is a sangha-based group at Seattle Insight in Seattle, open to practitioners who wish to learn, connect, and take wise, appropriate action together.

The group began in May 2018, when a few members of the Seattle Insight sangha, concerned about the climate crisis, started meeting. Their intention is to work within the sangha and from their Dharma practice, bringing wise intention and wise view to understanding the crisis and deciding what meaningful action looks like.

What to Expect

The group meets on Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Over the years it has sponsored several programs at Seattle Insight, and it keeps an online bulletin board holding its mission, goals, meeting notes, and a range of resources for deepening understanding of the climate crisis and taking meaningful action.

One way the group engages is through "Practices for a livable planet," offered to help Buddhist practitioners relate to the climate crisis through their practice. The meetings are led by the Climate Action Group itself, a community of sangha members rather than a single teacher.

Before You Go

Access works through the group's email list. Signing up gives you entry to the bulletin board and a monthly invitation to each meeting, including the Zoom link. To join the list, contact Ken Yasuhara. For more information about the group, contact Iris Antman.
