Beschreibung

Clarity & Courage is a weekend insight meditation retreat led by Heidi Bourne at Ratna Ling Retreat Center in Cazadero, California. It is meant for anyone who wants a quiet, supported stretch of time to nourish what the organizer calls the basic goodness inside, the inherent life force that opens into clarity, kindness and courage.

The teaching draws on the Buddha's words, and the weekend is built around Insight and Metta meditation, gentle movement and daily dharma talks.

What to Expect

The weekend is a peaceful, contemplative retreat held over three days. Insight meditation, sometimes called vipassana, is the practice of watching the mind and body with steady, open attention. Metta, or loving-kindness meditation, turns that attention toward warmth and goodwill, for yourself and for others. The two work well together: one builds clarity, the other keeps the heart soft while you look.

Gentle movement is woven in alongside sitting practice, so the body has a place in the retreat and not only the mind. Each day includes a dharma talk, a chance to hear the teachings spoken aloud and to consider how they apply to ordinary life. The overall tone is quiet and unhurried, a step back from daily demands rather than a push toward any particular result.

About Heidi Bourne

Heidi Bourne leads this retreat, guiding the practices of Insight and Metta meditation and giving the daily dharma talks.

The Setting

Ratna Ling Retreat Center sits in the redwood country of Cazadero, in Northern California. The center is run by a volunteer organization and hosts a year-round calendar of yoga and meditation retreats. Its retreats are described as a chance to connect with yourself, with nature and with the Ratna Ling community, and the outdoor setting is a large part of the experience. Time among the trees and the coastal quiet suits a weekend given to stillness.

The center also supports a Tibetan Book Preservation Project and offers scholarships for people to attend retreats, funded through donations.

Before You Go

The material does not name a required level of experience, so anyone drawn to a weekend of meditation in nature can consider this retreat. If you are new to insight meditation, the combination of dharma talks, gentle movement and guided practice offers a clear way in. Those with an established practice will find space to deepen it among others doing the same.
