Why the Overthinking Mind Never Stops: A Buddhist Map

Tulku Lobsang

Before Tulku Lobsang answers the question most listeners arrived with, he stops to define the mind itself. The teaching opens with a plain, urgent question, how to keep calm and peaceful when the mind will not quiet down, and then, instead of offering a technique, he lays out a map. In it, the mind has three layers, and thought, the faculty that lets us learn, plan, and connect, is the one he says belongs only to human beings. That same capacity is the source of our greatest reach and our deepest stress. This free online live teaching, published on his channel in October 2026, is built on that paradox. Its central proposal is that the way out of a looping mind is not to wrestle each thought into submission, but to change how we relate to thinking itself. The logic he uses to get there is worth following step by step.

The setting is unshowy. A teacher speaks to the camera, the phrasing loose and sometimes doubling back on itself, with laughter rising from the room at the moments when he turns a familiar human habit into a joke about itself. There is no chant, no bell, no soundtrack. What carries the piece is the argument, and the argument is a careful one about what kind of creature overthinks.

What is the mind, according to this Buddhist teaching?

Tulku Lobsang's answer begins with three layers. The first he calls basic mind, which he links to what Buddhist traditions call self-grasping. In his words, "all species have this basic mind." The second layer is what he calls conditional mind, which he also names emotional mind. He describes it as a more advanced layer than the basic one, and says it is present in many species, though not necessarily to the same degree. The third layer is relational mind, which he also calls thought, reasoning mind, intelligent mind, or learning mind. He is emphatic about its distribution: "In this world only humans have thought."

— Tulku Lobsang, in the teaching, at 1:29 and 4:08

The structure matters because it changes the question. If overthinking were simply a bad habit of the intellect, the fix would be to think better. But on this account, overthinking grows out of a layer that sits on top of the older, feeling-based mind, a layer that can wrap attention around ideas about the past, the future, and other people. The teacher is not dismissing feeling or the body. He is describing a stack, and asking which layer is driving the loop.

Why can only humans overthink?

The claim that only humans possess thought is the hinge of the teaching, and Tulku Lobsang frames it as a question of learning. Other species can learn, he says, "some degrees or some levels," but their learning has limits. Humans, by contrast, "really possible learn," and that capacity is what separates us. Learning is the working skill of thought, and it is what lets a person build on yesterday's experience, extend it into tomorrow, and pass it along.

He then makes the move that gives the talk its edge. The same faculty that lets us learn is the one that lets us suffer on a larger scale. Learning, he says, "is our power but the learning is also our weakness." Because we can learn, we can expand our happiness and calm "beyond ourself," and because we can learn, we can also gather stress from the past, stress from the future, and stress from the present, until it seems to belong to "all of the world."

— Tulku Lobsang, at 6:41

It is a reading of overthinking that refuses to pathologize it as a flaw. Overthinking, in this frame, is what happens when a powerful instrument runs without a player at the controls. The instrument is not defective. It simply has no built-in sense of when to stop.

Why is relating to thoughts the real problem?

The second human capacity he names is relation, and this is where the teaching moves from diagnosis toward something that feels like practice. Other species have some relating ability, he allows, but "we have unlimited relation skills." The problem is not what the mind contains. It is the connection we make to what the mind contains.

His illustration is the kind of blunt observation that lands because it is so familiar. "No matter how much we have good condition," he says, "one wrong relation, everything goes to wrong." The point is that circumstances can be good and still fail to produce peace if the mind is holding them in the wrong way. A healthy body, a stable home, and a pleasant day all become raw material for a mind that has decided to be anxious about something.

From this he draws a line that is either a metaphysical claim or a sharp rhetorical flourish, depending on how you hear it: "human species only have the concept of hell and heaven." Because humans relate, he suggests, we can build either. A wrong relation to oneself or one's life can produce great suffering. A right relation can open up what he calls "unlimited happiness." The conclusion he reaches is a sober one about our species: humans are among the most powerful forces the natural world has produced, and "we have a power to make life into hell but we also have a power to make life into heaven."

— Tulku Lobsang, at 11:47

Why does an overthinking mind always find a reason to be unhappy?

The third thread is the reason-making faculty, and it is the part of the talk most listeners will recognize from their own heads. Because we think, he says, we can give reasons. We can explain why we are happy ("because of today's nice weather"), and we can explain why we are not. The trouble is that the reason-machine never runs out of material.

He is pointed about this. Someone can have excellent health, a comfortable life, even a settled and happy mind, and still produce "perfectly founded reason" to be unhappy, to be stressed, or to worry. He does not rank people by intelligence or wealth. "I think everybody have some kind, some degrees of stresses or worries, overthinking," he says, whether they are very intelligent or not, very rich or very poor. The condition is universal to the faculty, not to the circumstances.

— Tulku Lobsang, at 14:20

This is a useful reframe for anyone who has tried to think their way out of anxiety with better arguments. If the mind is a reason-generator, then the reasons will keep coming whatever the facts are. The question shifts from "is my worry justified?" to "what is this faculty doing when it refuses to rest?"

How do you stop following past thoughts?

The teaching does not stay in theory. In the segment around 43 minutes, Tulku Lobsang describes a short practice: a brief count, a settling of the eyes, and the mind brought to rest on the space in front of the eyes. The transcript is fragmentary at this point, but the instruction is clear enough to see its shape. Attention is gathered outward and forward, toward what is present, rather than left to circle back through memory.

— Tulku Lobsang, at 43:42

Later, around 49 minutes, comes the instruction the talk's title seems to promise: "Don't follow past thoughts." The phrasing is short, but it carries the logic of the whole teaching. A thought is not an order. It arrives, it presents itself, and the practitioner's work is to decline the invitation to follow it into another round of reasons. He pairs this with the most basic of tools, a deep breath and a slow exhale, which is the physical anchor the rest of the instruction hangs from.

— Tulku Lobsang, at 49:49

What he is teaching, in effect, is the difference between thinking and being carried away by thinking. Thought can remain. Its grip can loosen. That is consistent with the broader premise of the video, which is that the goal is not a mind without thoughts but a relationship to thoughts that no longer requires a fight.

What does this teaching ask of an overthinking mind?

The thread that runs through the early part of the teaching is a kind of reverent clarity about the mind's power. Tulku Lobsang treats thought as one of the most remarkable things about human life, and he refuses to treat it as the enemy. The Buddhist perspective he brings is that suffering comes from the relation we form to our experience, which makes the relation the place where change is possible.

That is a more demanding invitation than it first sounds. Telling an overthinking person to stop thinking is useless, and the teacher knows it. Asking them to notice the layer that is doing the thinking, to recognize the reasons as reasons rather than verdicts, and to gently refuse to chase the past, is a different discipline altogether. It is quieter, slower, and more honest about how the mind works.

It is also worth noticing what the teaching does not promise. It does not claim that a single breath will end a lifetime of rumination, and it does not frame calm as a reward for enough effort. The emphasis is on a shift in relation, which can be practiced in small moments and built over time. The 83-minute video as a whole goes further than this opening portion, and the full teaching is the right place to hear his complete argument.

Where to go from here

If this map resonates, the best next step is the full video, which runs over an hour and a half and includes the live question-and-answer that gives the teaching its conversational texture. The description also points to the same teaching in German, Spanish, French, and Portuguese on the teacher's website, which may suit listeners who want to hear the ideas in a different language. As you listen, try the question the teacher keeps returning to: when the mind offers you a reason to be unhappy, is it describing the world, or is it simply doing what a reasoning mind does?

[0:07] in our subject.

[0:10] How keep

[0:13] calm

[0:15] and peaceful or how keep calm and peace

[0:21] overthinking

[0:23] minds?

[0:28] Well, before I talk the subject

[0:35] first, maybe I

[0:38] want to talk

[0:41] what is mind?

[0:46] Mind have a three layers.

[0:50] We call

[0:53] basic mind

[0:56] and then conditional mind.

[0:59] Then we call relational minds.

[1:05] Conditional mind sorry the basic mind

[1:10] all species have it.

[1:13] And this basic mind what Buddhisms call

[1:18] self grasping.

[1:23] The self grasping.

[1:27] The self grasping

[1:29] we call basic mind.

[1:33] The all species have this basic mind.

[1:40] And then we have a little advanced mind

[1:46] more than basic mind what you call

[1:49] conditional mind. And this conditional

[1:52] mind we call emotional mind.

[1:58] Yeah. This emotional mind.

[2:02] And this second mind what you call

[2:05] emotional mind

[2:07] is

[2:09] I think

[2:12] also have

[2:15] also have many many species.

[2:21] The second mind

[2:24] what you call conditional mind

[2:28] is

[2:30] not only humans also some species maybe

[2:36] have more or less but also have many

[2:40] many other species have the second mind.

[2:46] The third mind

[2:49] is

[2:51] is what you call relation mind. What you

[2:55] call thought.

[2:59] And this third mind or you call relation

[3:02] mind or thought

[3:05] is

[3:06] only humans have.

[3:11] Yeah. In seems in this world only humans

[3:16] have thought and this thought we call

[3:21] relation mind

[3:24] or we call relation mind or we call

[3:28] reasoning mind or we call intelligent

[3:32] mind

[3:34] or thought. In the thought

[3:38] is only humans have not other species

[3:45] since therefore basic mind have all

[3:49] species

[3:51] and then

[3:53] conditional mind or emotional mind also

[3:58] have many many species.

[4:02] Maybe some species have more, some

[4:05] species have less.

[4:08] But number third,

[4:12] [sighs and gasps] the intelligent mind

[4:17] or you call relation mind

[4:22] or you call

[4:25] thought

[4:27] or you call learning mind. learn in

[4:31] mind. Therefore thought let's say

[4:35] thought is the only human species have

[4:39] human species have not other species

[4:43] thought let's say only have a humans

[4:47] [snorts]

[4:48] and that's why thought we give sometime

[4:50] name of a thought sometime we call

[4:55] intelligent mind

[4:57] sometime we call relation mind Sometime

[5:02] we call reasoning mind

[5:06] you know sometime we call

[5:09] um learning mind

[5:13] because of a thought we possible learn

[5:17] in this world

[5:19] only human species who really possible

[5:24] learn.

[5:26] Of course, other species also possible

[5:30] learn some degrees or some levels,

[5:36] but their learning level or their

[5:39] learning cycle uh skills have a

[5:43] limitations.

[5:48] Therefore

[5:50] who who have a thought is the only who

[5:54] really possible learn.

[5:56] We humans we possible learn and that's

[6:00] is our power but this is also our

[6:03] weakness.

[6:06] You know

[6:09] because of a thought we possible learn

[6:14] because of

[6:17] because of we possible learn.

[6:21] We possible expanded our happiness,

[6:25] our peace,

[6:28] our calmness beyond ourself.

[6:33] But also because of thought we possible

[6:37] learn because of learning

[6:41] we also possible make

[6:45] uh stress beyond ourself.

[6:48] You know we not only stress ourself we

[6:51] also possible to feel the stress of the

[6:56] all of the world. You know we possible

[7:00] invited or we possible gathering of the

[7:04] stress of the past, stress of the

[7:07] future, stress of present or stress of

[7:11] all of the world.

[7:13] A conclusion because of thought we

[7:15] possible learn because of learning a

[7:19] learning skill. Learning is is is the

[7:25] the only the skill of the thought and

[7:29] therefore human is the only who have a

[7:31] thought and that's is the only human

[7:33] skill

[7:36] again because of

[7:41] uh what to say because of repossible

[7:46] learn and that's lending is because of

[7:50] Learning uh yes sorry learning is our

[7:56] power but the learning is also our

[8:00] weakness.

[8:06] Because of learning we possible have a

[8:10] positive influence and a negative

[8:13] influence.

[8:18] Yes. And the second because of a thought

[8:24] we we what to say because of a thought

[8:28] we possible relation.

[8:31] Yes we possible relation. Of course many

[8:35] other species also possible have some

[8:38] degrees of some levels of relations but

[8:41] their relation skills have limitations.

[8:45] We are humans.

[8:47] We have unlimited relation skills.

[8:52] Because of a thought, we possible

[8:54] relation because of the relation. You

[8:57] know the we the sorry the the skill of

[9:01] the relation is also our power but also

[9:06] our weakness.

[9:13] [laughter]

[9:19] You know I'm always making joke you know

[9:22] uh no matter how much we have good

[9:27] condition

[9:29] uh is no matter how much we have a good

[9:32] condition is we make a wrong relation

[9:36] with this good conditions

[9:38] with the one wrong relation all good

[9:42] conditions

[9:43] not make we happy.

[9:46] Let's say one wrong relation

[9:50] everything go to wrong. One with one

[9:53] with the right relation everything going

[9:56] to good.

[10:01] Yes.

[10:03] The relation

[10:06] the skill of a relation is the only

[10:08] human quality that is the only we have

[10:12] it because of that I always say human

[10:16] species only have the concept of hell

[10:20] and heaven.

[10:22] You know you you make with you make a

[10:25] wrong relation [sighs and gasps]

[10:28] in yourself or life

[10:32] you possible

[10:35] suffering very much. If you make a right

[10:38] relation yourself in your life you

[10:42] possible have unlimited happiness.

[10:46] Therefore my shortcuts

[10:49] because we have thought and we possible

[10:52] relation because of a relation

[10:56] [snorts] yes we possible expanded our

[10:59] happiness beyond ourself but also

[11:03] because of a relation we possible our

[11:05] sufferings expanded beyond ourself.

[11:11] We human species one of most powerful

[11:17] species maybe ever have the face of

[11:20] earth. Why? Because of the thought.

[11:25] Because of a thought we possible

[11:26] relation because of a relation we

[11:29] possible expanded.

[11:32] You know I possible and humans is the

[11:35] only who possible expand unlimited.

[11:39] I possible expanded my happiness

[11:45] and my peace

[11:47] myself in my family, my country in the

[11:51] world. Oh, we believe that you possible

[11:55] until space expanded is your happiness.

[12:00] You know that's only human species have.

[12:04] That's why human is something so unique,

[12:08] so special.

[12:10] But the same time

[12:13] because of a thought we possible

[12:16] relation.

[12:18] Yes, it's correct. Yes. And uh because

[12:21] of relation and we also possible

[12:26] uh what say expanded our suffering

[12:31] is complete ourself in our family in our

[12:37] country or until world

[12:40] and that means we are so powerful. We

[12:44] are so powerful. We possible happiness

[12:47] expanded unlimited. We possible what

[12:50] say? Suffering expanded unlimited. We

[12:54] also possible peace expanded unlimited.

[12:58] Therefore, human is one of most

[13:01] dangerous

[13:04] or species

[13:06] or one of most powerful species or one

[13:10] of most powerful technology ever builded

[13:15] in the natural worlds.

[13:18] issue like to say is we are a technology

[13:22] we are one of most powerful technology

[13:26] ever builded in the natural world I

[13:29] don't think there ever come more

[13:32] powerful technology than human

[13:37] therefore we have a power to uh what to

[13:41] say

[13:43] to life make to hell but we also have a

[13:47] power to Make life is heaven.

[13:54] Second

[13:57] because of a thought

[14:00] we have a reason in mind.

[14:04] Reason in mind I say I hope that's

[14:06] correct English [laughter]

[14:09] because we have a thought is we have a

[14:13] reason in mind we possible give a reason

[14:17] a reason why why you're happy because of

[14:20] that why you're not happy because of

[14:23] that why you feel peace because of that

[14:25] you know we are human species is the

[14:29] only specy who have a reason in mind we

[14:33] possible Give a reason, [laughter]

[14:35] you know. You say why you happy? Oh,

[14:37] because of today nice weather. Why you

[14:39] happy? Because of today this and that.

[14:42] Why you not happy? Because of this and

[14:44] that, you know. [snorts] Mhm.

[14:48] [sighs]

[14:50] [snorts]

[14:50] And that's why

[14:53] is we have this human intelligent. Human

[14:59] intelligent means we possible give a

[15:02] reasons and that's why always I'm saying

[15:05] people

[15:07] [snorts]

[15:08] uh no matter how much you have a good

[15:12] condition

[15:14] you always find it reason to be unhappy

[15:22] you know no matter you know you have a

[15:26] best life you have most healthiest body

[15:30] I don't know you have also maybe as most

[15:34] happiest mind whatever you have

[15:37] everything what possible have in this

[15:40] world but is a still

[15:43] you wanted you perfectly founded reason

[15:48] to to reason to reason to not be happy

[15:52] or reason to be stressful reason to be

[15:56] worry Yes.

[16:00] [laughter] And that's why I don't know I

[16:03] know we have all kind of life you know

[16:06] uh we have a very intelligent people

[16:10] have not so intelligent or I don't know

[16:14] very rich or very poor no matter no

[16:17] matter what kind of life have it and I

[16:21] think everybody have some kind some

[16:23] degrees of [snorts]

[16:27] stresses or worries overthinking

[16:35] and that's why I say

[16:38] yes is uh Mhm.

[16:43] >> [snorts]

[16:43] >> uh is no matter how much you have a good

[16:48] conditions

[16:51] is still you wanted you founded reason

[16:56] to unhappy

[17:02] that's why they have many many people

[17:08] have good conditions they have many pe

[17:11] they have many many reason to be happy

[17:15] but not always people be happy because

[17:18] they always take wrong reasons.

[17:21] I hope my way of saying is clear.

[17:25] [laughter]

[17:28] Usually I talk very fast but today I

[17:30] talk little slow. [laughter]

[17:34] I hear we have a many new people here

[17:38] [laughter]

[17:40] and uh

[17:42] let's say this way and um

[17:47] yes no matter uh what say uh um Mhm. No

[17:54] matter how much you have bad conditions

[18:00] is you wanted

[18:02] you always

[18:04] find a reason to be happy.

[18:11] Correct? Sometime we have very very bad

[18:16] bad conditions but if you want to be

[18:20] happy [snorts] you still find a reason

[18:22] to be happy. is you give reason to be

[18:25] happy and that's enough to be happy and

[18:28] that's why I always say

[18:32] don't wait reason to be happy

[18:37] always give reason to be happy

[18:43] don't wait reason to be happy you know

[18:47] don't wait

[18:50] more reason or more better reason to be

[18:54] happy maybe than happiness every day go

[18:58] more and more far away

[19:02] give reason to be happy and that's why

[19:06] we are talking thought [snorts]

[19:09] of course thinking is not problem you

[19:12] know [snorts]

[19:14] thinking is the one of the only human

[19:17] quality and that's make we are human and

[19:20] that's make we are facial

[19:23] but

[19:25] overinking you know thought make thought

[19:29] make thought [snorts] overinking is a

[19:32] problem

[19:35] that's why I sometimes say people you

[19:39] know

[19:40] they no have any enemy outside of

[19:45] yourself you are your own enemy you are

[19:49] your own friend means

[19:54] Your thought is your best friend but

[19:57] your thought is one of the most

[20:00] dangerous enemy.

[20:03] And your thought possible bring you in

[20:06] the heaven. But your thought also

[20:08] possible bring your hell. And the

[20:11] thought what we call intelligent mind,

[20:16] [snorts] lenin mind and the reasoning

[20:19] mind and the relational mind. We are

[20:22] humans is only have this intelligent.

[20:25] Humans is the only who possible

[20:27] relation. Humans is only possible give a

[20:30] reasoning or reasons. Humans is only

[20:34] possible relation.

[20:37] Therefore

[20:38] today we go to leader teach how to what

[20:43] to say first all [laughter]

[20:45] how to little control let's say our

[20:49] thoughts maybe. Mhm.

[20:52] And uh

[20:55] [sighs] yeah

[20:59] well um

[21:02] uh

[21:04] Mhm.

[21:07] And that that's there therefore is the

[21:11] what say in the Buddhist teaching is a

[21:15] direct antidote or direct antidote or

[21:19] direct medicine [snorts]

[21:22] of a thought is meditation.

[21:28] If you want have a good relation is a

[21:31] thought is let's say if you want

[21:35] if you want to have let's say

[21:39] uh what to say maybe I say this way is

[21:43] you wanted is have a good relation with

[21:46] the thought is you wanted to control to

[21:49] your thought is you want

[21:52] thoughts calm is you wanted let's say

[21:56] thought do What you wanted

[22:01] is meditation

[22:04] is the only way

[22:08] and this the teaching of a Buddha in the

[22:12] meditation

[22:14] in the antidote

[22:17] of overthinking

[22:22] without

[22:24] I mean the the meaning of meditation

[22:28] is a calm mind. Isn't it calm mind or

[22:32] present moment of mind without

[22:36] without calm mind is thought is

[22:42] very dangerous.

[22:45] I always making joke you know and that's

[22:48] why I say without calmness is a

[22:52] knowledge is a dangerous without

[22:55] calmness

[22:57] intelligent is a dangerous

[23:00] you know without calmness maybe

[23:03] [laughter]

[23:05] let's say intelligent is dangerous

[23:07] therefore my shortcut

[23:10] is u

[23:13] mhm First is we want to make a uh reduce

[23:19] overthinking we need to meditate. Second

[23:23] is we want to control thought we need to

[23:26] meditate. The third

[23:28] we what say third is the Mhm. thought

[23:35] what say? Mhm.

[23:38] Yeah. What I want to say third is let's

[23:42] say is a uh is a thought is

[23:47] let's say thought is a become nature

[23:51] intelligent

[23:54] without calmness

[23:58] thought is just intelligent of knowledge

[24:04] but once you have a calmness your

[24:08] thought become nature intelligent. But

[24:12] without calmness

[24:14] your thought is just I say

[24:19] intelligent of knowledge.

[24:24] Intelligent of knowledge.

[24:28] Intelligent of knowledge. I call what

[24:33] you call discrimination knowledge.

[24:36] Discrimination knowledge. Discrimination

[24:39] knowledge is a knowledge is just one

[24:42] side is not complete knowledge.

[24:46] Therefore,

[24:49] yeah, we all have what say?

[24:54] What say? Mhm.

[24:58] uh

[25:02] intelligent

[25:04] uh knowledge.

[25:07] Yes. But we need more nature knowledge.

[25:13] What really mean nature knowledge here?

[25:16] Me I say this way you know calm mind is

[25:20] look like calm water and the thought is

[25:25] look like

[25:27] maybe I say thought is look like free

[25:30] fish

[25:33] you know

[25:36] and this the free the wild the maybe I

[25:40] say the free fish is he

[25:44] swimming in the Water is not the

[25:48] disturbing of a calmness of water but

[25:52] calmness of the water not make slow down

[25:57] is the fish. You know the calmness of

[26:00] water not make limitation of the

[26:05] movement or freedom of the fish

[26:11] but the movement or or movement or

[26:16] activity of the fish is not disturbing

[26:20] in the calmness of water is the same

[26:27] once you Overcome

[26:29] you thought become nature intelligent.

[26:36] Not

[26:38] what you call

[26:41] intelligent of a knowledge, not

[26:43] intelligent of a culture, not

[26:46] intelligent of a religion, not

[26:48] intelligent of philosophy, not

[26:52] intelligent of also science.

[27:07] intelligent of a culture. Me is a

[27:10] discrimination.

[27:12] Uh intelligent intelligent of a

[27:15] religion. Me is a discrimination. What's

[27:18] a discrimination is intelligent

[27:22] is also philosophy. Maybe me is a

[27:25] discrimination what you call [snorts]

[27:28] intelligent science. I know science is

[27:32] the is a very good tool very respected

[27:36] tool but still me and this is a

[27:39] discrimination

[27:40] intelligent.

[27:46] [sighs]

[27:47] Therefore,

[27:49] if we want nature intelligent,

[27:53] we we need calm mind or present moment

[27:59] mind. And to have calm and the present

[28:02] moment of mind

[28:04] is the meditation [laughter]

[28:07] is the only way.

[28:10] There no other way.

[28:16] Okay? And that's why [snorts]

[28:19] uh I like to

[28:21] uh everybody to share today is a small

[28:27] meditation but my meditation

[28:30] I wanted you do every day

[28:36] you know I'm sometime make a joke people

[28:40] uh you know our life is not become a

[28:46] bigger than one day.

[28:49] You know our life is not become bigger

[28:55] than one day and today

[28:59] our life is just one day. The practice

[29:04] of one day become practice of life.

[29:07] Happiness of one day become happiness of

[29:11] life. The peace of one day become the

[29:14] peace of life. Calmness of one day

[29:17] become calmness of

[29:21] life. The meaning of one day is become

[29:26] meaning of life.

[29:35] How we sleep exactly same. How we die.

[29:39] How we dream exactly same after death.

[29:42] How we wake up exactly same. How to

[29:48] birth. Therefore each 24 hour every day

[29:52] we experience the cycle of whole life.

[30:03] Well, and that's why

[30:06] every day we experience this three

[30:10] changes naturally

[30:13] in this nature change what we call

[30:17] the nature clock or karmic clock or

[30:21] karmic time.

[30:25] One you call to sleep, one you call to

[30:29] dream, one you call wake up. Sleep is a

[30:33] small death. A dream is a small after

[30:36] death. To wake up small birth, small

[30:42] birth.

[30:45] Therefore,

[30:47] I think very good. We have every day

[30:51] have a small practice.

[30:54] I always send people maybe we have a

[30:58] practice 21 minutes. If you have I want

[31:02] to say is you have more time 21 minutes.

[31:05] If you don't have much time 11 minutes

[31:08] is you have a really really don't have

[31:11] time I mean 1 minutes. If you really

[31:15] don't have time, I say three second. You

[31:18] know, [laughter]

[31:21] [gasps]

[31:21] I hope one of this you have it.

[31:24] [laughter]

[31:26] [snorts]

[31:29] Of course,

[31:31] uh we have this countless thoughts

[31:34] coming and going. But first

[31:39] uh uh when the we have the when we wake

[31:43] up and the first mind and the first

[31:45] thought is a most powerful mind most

[31:49] powerful thought and the thought and the

[31:52] mind [clears throat] who decided what

[31:55] kind of day you have it directly or

[31:59] indirectly.

[32:02] And then

[32:03] last thought before sleep we have a last

[32:08] mind or last thought. East is one of the

[32:14] what's say the uh what's say one the

[32:17] second one of most powerful mind and the

[32:21] thought

[32:23] and the before sleep and the last mind

[32:28] and the last thought who got to decide

[32:31] it what kind of a night you have it

[32:40] therefore

[32:41] We have a first each 24 hour we have

[32:44] first thought we call birth maybe

[32:47] [laughter] we have a last thought maybe

[32:49] you call death I don't know

[32:52] [snorts] and therefore in uh yes and

[32:56] therefore and especially is morning I

[33:00] like to say

[33:03] every morning you are wake up is very

[33:07] good

[33:09] uh to maybe make let's say 10 minutes

[33:13] some exercise lujong or yoga or any form

[33:16] of exercise and then 10 minutes you make

[33:19] a small meditation

[33:22] and then one minute you always say this

[33:25] you know I give my best I give my best

[33:31] after whatever come I take it I accept

[33:35] it you say I give my best

[33:39] and that's is a kindness after whatever

[33:42] come I take it accepted that is

[33:46] compassion

[33:48] in this 21 minutes practice change your

[33:53] body change your mind is a change your

[33:57] life you know with this 21 minutes

[34:00] practice

[34:02] is totally your relation is a change it

[34:06] your body and mind and the world and I

[34:08] think you have a great chunks. You have

[34:11] more happy life. You have more let's say

[34:15] peaceful life.

[34:17] [snorts] Or you do 20 or you do 11

[34:21] minutes

[34:23] every morning. You know 11 minutes you

[34:26] do is a 5 minutes somebody exercise 5

[34:29] minutes little meditation. 1 minutes you

[34:32] just practice kindness compassion. You

[34:35] say I give my best after whatever come I

[34:38] take it acceptance

[34:41] you know and this is the right way you

[34:45] give a right kind of relation you give

[34:48] you you give a right relation your body

[34:50] right relation your mind and the right

[34:52] relation in your life in this right

[34:56] relations

[34:57] is you have a more happier let's say you

[35:02] have more peaceful life I think you have

[35:06] a more chance

[35:09] if you don't have this time also

[35:11] [snorts]

[35:12] as try to one minute practice you say I

[35:16] give my best

[35:19] in this world

[35:21] and myself after whatever come I take it

[35:24] I accept it you know you say this 11

[35:29] time again again again

[35:31] I think in that is a great way to make

[35:35] relation

[35:37] and that's helping you

[35:40] you don't need overthinking or you don't

[35:44] make overthinking

[35:47] yes and that's what I like to say

[35:51] well

[35:52] and that's why I say very important

[35:55] sentence here

[35:57] body means energy

[36:00] with the wave of energy the Mind mind

[36:04] means the time.

[36:08] The mind mind means a time. Body body

[36:12] means energy

[36:18] in this world require so much time and

[36:22] so much require energies. But our we all

[36:28] have a limitation time. We all have a

[36:30] limitation limitation energy. We don't

[36:34] have unlimited energy. We don't have

[36:37] unlimited time.

[36:40] But our thought we possible think

[36:43] unlimited

[36:45] you know we possible think unlimited

[36:47] things.

[36:49] Yes. But we are world of limited time

[36:54] and limited energy. But you thought

[36:58] possible unlimited thinkings

[37:03] and that's why sometime

[37:06] we thought make to overstress us

[37:13] and therefore

[37:16] my last sentence

[37:19] I always saying people

[37:22] truth is not important Love is more

[37:26] important.

[37:29] Love give your energy.

[37:36] Love give you energy. Love give your

[37:42] healthy body.

[37:44] And that's why I say truth is not

[37:47] important. Love is more important. Love

[37:51] is give healthy body, energetic body.

[37:56] Love is energy. There no have other

[37:59] energy than love. Without love we don't

[38:02] have any energy. Love is only nature

[38:08] energy we have it. I know we all want

[38:12] this artificial energies,

[38:15] energy drinks, coffees, all this kind of

[38:18] things maybe is good but the artificial

[38:24] energy is maybe is helpful temporarily

[38:28] but long-term only we long term we need

[38:35] the what say nature energy. What is

[38:39] nature energy? love and that's also I

[38:42] say is you have love you have better

[38:45] body is you have love you have more

[38:47] energetic body

[38:50] you have more bliss body you have less

[38:52] painful body and that's why I say also

[38:55] we don't need it what's sorry that's why

[38:58] I say

[39:00] I make a joke sometime uh uh uh

[39:05] truth without love this truth is I say

[39:09] dangerous

[39:11] I don't believe so much truth than love.

[39:14] Love we born but the truth we not born.

[39:17] We learned. Same way I say we don't need

[39:21] more knowledge, we need more wisdom.

[39:26] We need more wisdom.

[39:29] Without wisdom, knowledge is dangerous.

[39:32] But now how we practice love and the

[39:35] wisdom every day in this 21 minutes

[39:39] practice or 11 minutes practice or 1

[39:44] minute practice

[39:46] and that's what I like to say and my

[39:50] short answer now uh the last last one

[39:55] [laughter]

[39:56] I want [snorts] to say you know uh

[40:01] I always say in as people you know uh

[40:06] uh you change it

[40:10] world go to change it you

[40:14] yes how to go to change ourself and the

[40:19] through of 21 minutes practice through

[40:22] of 11 minutes practice or through of 1

[40:26] minute practice well now I try to give

[40:29] you 50 minutes small practice

[40:35] uh or small meditation is that's okay.

[40:40] And uh maybe we make a warm up our palms

[40:48] and uh

[40:52] that's a replace of exercise of course

[40:55] and to make one self massage.

[40:59] >> [snorts]

[41:05] [snorts]

[41:17] [sighs and gasps]

[41:20] >> Soft breathe in. Strong breath. Breathe

[41:22] out three time.

[41:25] [snorts]

[41:30] >> [sighs]

[41:38] [sighs]

[41:43] [sighs]

[41:47] >> and breathe in.

[41:51] Hold your breath

[41:54] and shake leader your body. Shaking

[41:57] shaking shoulders

[42:01] face shaking whole body. Shaking whole

[42:04] body

[42:08] and breathe out.

[42:11] [sighs]

[42:15] [snorts]

[42:17] [sighs]

[42:24] >> [sighs]

[42:30] >> Okay.

[42:31] Now first

[42:37] [clears throat]

[42:39] you eyes and mind

[42:43] look one object front of you.

[42:48] Uh 11 second

[42:53] is something black is nice.

[42:58] Yeah. 11 second

[43:01] some block or anything

[43:04] object,

[43:06] you know,

[43:08] and your eyes and your mind

[43:13] intensively

[43:15] or singleointedly with the full focus.

[43:19] You look at

[43:21] you know your so focus look like you're

[43:24] shocked. You know when we are shocked

[43:28] and our mind our eyes is just full focus

[43:33] you know we don't think any other thing

[43:36] than what is happening there same way

[43:42] 11 second you eyes your mind full focus

[43:47] Yes.

[44:16] Focus. Focus. Focus. Focus. Focus.

[44:19] Focus. Breathe in. [snorts]

[44:24] Breathe out. [sighs]

[44:28] Now you look

[44:31] front of your eyes

[44:33] in the empty space.

[44:37] I mean your eyes and mind

[44:41] just

[44:43] sitting in the empty space.

[44:51] Don't focus one location.

[44:55] Don't

[44:56] hold anything.

[44:59] Just your eyes and mind relax

[45:03] in empty space front of you. Let's say

[45:08] front of you one meter.

[45:18] 21 second.

[45:21] Keep straight your spine. Relax your

[45:24] shoulders,

[45:29] your eyes and mind. Relax in the empty

[45:34] space front of your eyes

[45:40] in the one m distance.

[46:24] Don't look anything.

[46:28] Don't focus anything. Your mind eyes

[46:31] just relax in empty space.

[47:23] Now deep breath. Breathe in. [snorts]

[47:29] Deep breath. Breathe out.

[47:57] relax your mind.

[48:00] If you possible meditate with open eyes,

[48:04] good you cannot. And close eyes. Keep

[48:07] straight your spine and relax your

[48:10] shoulders.

[48:45] fill your mind

[48:49] and relax.

[48:57] Don't follow the past thoughts.

[49:12] Don't follow past thoughts.

[49:19] Let allow to

[49:22] pass.

[49:29] Don't wait future thoughts

[49:41] and don't hold the present moment

[49:46] thoughts.

[49:49] Don't follow past thoughts.

[49:54] Don't

[49:56] wait future thoughts.

[49:59] Don't hold

[50:01] present moment thoughts.

[50:16] Let allow to be

[50:22] present moment

[50:24] or natural state of mind.

[50:31] Once you are calm,

[50:36] once you are peace and calm and the

[50:41] nature state of mind,

[50:45] thoughts

[50:46] transform or thoughts become nature

[50:50] intelligent.

[50:54] Without calmness, without peace,

[50:59] without nature state of mind

[51:03] and your thoughts

[51:08] maybe just become

[51:12] agitation

[51:13] and distress

[51:19] and then thought less helping you, more

[51:22] harming You

[51:38] keep straight your spine.

[51:41] Relax your shoulders.

[51:47] Don't follow past thoughts. Don't invite

[51:51] future thought. Don't hold the present

[51:55] moment thought.

[52:04] Just

[52:05] allow to be nature state of mind.

[52:13] The nature state of mind and the calm

[52:16] and the peace.

[52:25] Once you have come and peace, thoughts

[52:30] become your best friends,

[52:33] become nature intelligent

[52:38] and the thoughts become your power

[52:44] without come and the peace and The

[52:48] thoughts just uh

[52:53] become agitation

[52:57] or fear

[53:00] or stress or overthinking

[53:11] without calmness.

[53:17] Thought make you have a stress mind.

[53:25] Without calmness and the thought

[53:29] invited,

[53:31] you have a what you call

[53:35] very stressed body

[53:38] and a very fearful life.

[53:44] In Buddhist teachings we say

[53:49] grasping

[53:51] is illness of mind, effort illness of a

[53:54] body, fear is illness of life.

[54:00] Without calmness and your thought

[54:04] become cause of the illness of mind and

[54:07] the body and the life.

[54:17] Yes, thought is a medicine but he also

[54:20] possible be poison.

[54:25] How thought possible give be medicine?

[54:29] Once you have a calmness and the peace

[54:33] come once you have come and peace and

[54:36] your thought become nature intelligent

[54:41] is just become clearness look like just

[54:45] inner sunshine.

[54:56] Deep breath. Breathe in.

[55:01] And deep breath. Breathe out.

[55:08] And then you say verbally.

[55:10] Now we just say three time, but I

[55:13] recommend you try to list 11 time every

[55:17] morning. I give my best after whatever

[55:22] come I accepted. I give my best after

[55:26] whatever come I accepted. I give my best

[55:31] after whatever come I accepted.

[55:36] You

[55:39] give this instruction

[55:42] in your minds

[55:46] then you have very little reason to make

[55:51] overthinking.

[55:55] You know

[56:01] we give our best

[56:07] but we cannot give more than this.

[56:10] That's all what we have it.

[56:12] We don't need more. We don't need

[56:15] overthinking what we possible. We give

[56:17] our best and that's all what we have it.

[56:22] And after you give your best after

[56:25] whatever come what we possible do our

[56:28] best.

[56:29] Accepted

[56:32] accepted accepted

[56:34] accepted.

[56:36] And therefore is you wanted one magic

[56:40] mantra is you want one magic

[56:44] uh maybe [laughter]

[56:46] uh practice is you don't want

[56:48] overthinking

[56:50] only the simple instruction you say I

[56:54] give my best after whatever come I go

[56:57] accepted

[57:02] yes

[57:04] and If you say this every morning and

[57:09] you try to follow this instructions how

[57:12] much you can you know you know our mind

[57:16] is just a habit you know

[57:20] is you possible give this habit or you

[57:23] possible give this kind of training

[57:26] and then I don't think you have any

[57:29] reason overinking I think you have more

[57:32] calm more peaceful mind and life.

[57:38] Well, maybe now I got to stop here. I

[57:42] give time to small questions. [laughter]

[57:47] Okay.

[57:50] [snorts]

[57:50] >> Okay. Vimp, thank you very much. So the

[57:54] first question is about 3 months ago I

[57:58] went through a situation that was very

[58:02] distressing for me and left me feeling

[58:05] intense anger for several weeks. Even

[58:09] now I still feel anger especially when I

[58:12] see the people involved.

[58:15] When I look more deeply I see that I am

[58:18] mainly angry with myself.

[58:21] How can I let go of this still very

[58:24] strong emotion?

[58:28] >> Well,

[58:30] anger

[58:32] is uh

[58:36] Mhm.

[58:38] they have a they have a three main

[58:41] reason to angry. Of course we have many

[58:44] reasons. One ourself, one something our

[58:48] nearest deers,

[58:51] one something who who we we don't like

[58:55] it or our enemies whatever you call

[58:58] however

[59:01] [snorts]

[59:02] well I told it very beginning you

[59:04] remember because we human is the only

[59:08] have a specy who have a thought because

[59:12] of thought we possible make a relation

[59:15] Because of thought we possible give a

[59:17] reasoning and you know relation have a

[59:20] power to change world and the reason

[59:24] have a power to change you know reason

[59:27] have a power to change ourself relation

[59:30] have a power to change ourself

[59:34] and therefore I want to say something

[59:36] here

[59:39] uh

[59:41] of course we have many reason to angry

[59:44] >> [snorts]

[59:44] >> You have many many reason to angry in

[59:47] this situation. I'm sure you have many

[59:49] many reason to have angry but they have

[59:53] one important reason we are not go to

[59:57] angry

[1:00:00] or maybe I say let's say two important

[1:00:03] reason we are not go to angry one

[1:00:09] uh whoever heard you or whatever

[1:00:13] happened or whoever heard you whatever

[1:00:17] happened and the Buddhisms we believe

[1:00:20] it. Nobody

[1:00:23] do nobody nobody do what say bad thing

[1:00:28] or wrong think is a consciously or with

[1:00:32] the full awareness

[1:00:35] or with full awareness.

[1:00:38] You know

[1:00:40] always people do wrong things

[1:00:44] you know not they don't do with the free

[1:00:48] will. Nobody do bad thing with free

[1:00:52] will. Nobody do bad thing free will.

[1:00:56] They're doing bad things, bad mistake

[1:01:00] things because of their illness.

[1:01:03] What kind of illness? out of ignorance

[1:01:07] or out of ego or out of a jealous or out

[1:01:11] of attachment.

[1:01:14] Attachment is illness.

[1:01:17] Yes.

[1:01:20] Anger is illness. Ignorance illness.

[1:01:28] Yes. Whatever this person doing wrong

[1:01:32] things the influence

[1:01:35] of or of ignorance or anger or ego or

[1:01:40] jealous

[1:01:42] and that's why you need to look this

[1:01:45] people ill people

[1:01:53] and that's why you need to make a

[1:01:55] separate and their wrong action And the

[1:01:59] person

[1:02:02] you know of course their wrong action we

[1:02:05] against we don't like their wrong action

[1:02:08] we against but we compassion the person.

[1:02:13] Compassion means we are compassion in

[1:02:16] the person but we against their wrong

[1:02:20] action. And when you do this and this

[1:02:24] action this when you do this in this

[1:02:27] wrong action not go to hurt you and this

[1:02:30] wrong action helping you the compassion

[1:02:34] in the person and the person is not

[1:02:37] longer hurt you.

[1:02:40] But when you not to separate the person

[1:02:43] and the action

[1:02:45] and then of course

[1:02:48] you not you what say [snorts] you not

[1:02:53] only against their own actions and you

[1:02:56] against the person means and you angry.

[1:03:01] Therefore first we don't have a reason

[1:03:04] to angry because nobody doing with free

[1:03:08] will.

[1:03:10] Nobody do with the free will is somebody

[1:03:13] who have a full free will. I'm sure

[1:03:16] everybody don't want angry or everybody

[1:03:19] don't want do bad things. Is we have a

[1:03:21] free will. Nobody want do bad things but

[1:03:25] not everybody have a free will. Once the

[1:03:29] influence of ignorance, [snorts] jealous

[1:03:31] eagles to go to in us is look like we

[1:03:35] are not longer ourself.

[1:03:38] Number two,

[1:03:41] [sighs]

[1:03:42] of course, to the anger of others also

[1:03:48] hurt yourself. You know,

[1:03:52] you know, others hurt you. But now you

[1:03:55] angry others and then second time you

[1:03:58] also hurting yourself. You know

[1:04:03] therefore practice

[1:04:06] selfandness,

[1:04:08] self compassion.

[1:04:14] The antidote of anger is a kindness.

[1:04:19] Therefore I say give what to say we have

[1:04:23] a good reason to not angry others or the

[1:04:27] situation and then practice kindness

[1:04:31] yourself is possible and hopefully and

[1:04:35] that's helping you have a less anger.

[1:04:40] Mhm.

[1:04:43] >> Okay. Next question. When I say in the

[1:04:47] morning, I will do my very best, I often

[1:04:51] feel that I don't actually know what my

[1:04:54] best is, or that it puts me under

[1:04:57] constant pressure to do more or that

[1:05:01] what I do is not good enough and doubts

[1:05:04] arise. Could you please say something

[1:05:06] about this?

[1:05:08] >> Okay, [laughter] I think it's a good

[1:05:10] question. Uh but maybe I say I I mean we

[1:05:16] don't know what we don't know. I mean we

[1:05:19] don't know. We don't know. That's is

[1:05:21] true. And therefore we say we we doing

[1:05:25] our best. We doing our best what we

[1:05:28] know.

[1:05:32] Yes.

[1:05:35] You see we know everything. We don't

[1:05:36] need to best [laughter]

[1:05:41] you know

[1:05:43] we don't know everything and therefore

[1:05:47] we do our best we don't know and that's

[1:05:50] why we doing our best we know everything

[1:05:54] I don't think we need to say I do my

[1:05:56] best I don't need you don't need to say

[1:06:00] I do best and we don't know we know very

[1:06:04] little and We we we know very little. We

[1:06:08] don't know everything. And that's why

[1:06:13] what you know that's why we say we doing

[1:06:17] our best. That's all what we know.

[1:06:20] That's all what we have.

[1:06:27] [sighs]

[1:06:28] Uh I hope uh because your question how

[1:06:32] we know we doing best you know.

[1:06:35] Uh that's interesting question and we

[1:06:38] don't know

[1:06:40] but still we possible do our best.

[1:06:49] Mhm.

[1:06:51] Okay.

[1:06:55] I've heard that we create karma through

[1:06:58] our thoughts. So I try not to think

[1:07:02] anything negative. But when I do that,

[1:07:05] my mind starts focusing on exactly the

[1:07:08] thoughts I want to avoid and many

[1:07:11] negative thoughts about someone arise.

[1:07:14] Then I feel anxious and worried that

[1:07:16] I've created bad karma. Do you have any

[1:07:19] recommendations for me?

[1:07:20] >> Oh, that's interesting.

[1:07:23] [laughter]

[1:07:26] Well, that is a very profounded and

[1:07:29] complicated

[1:07:31] question. [snorts] I give some general

[1:07:35] answer here about karma. Yeah, maybe.

[1:07:38] [snorts]

[1:07:40] Uh well uh first all maybe I say first

[1:07:46] all we are world of learning and the

[1:07:49] training.

[1:07:53] Mhm. We are world of what say learning

[1:07:58] and the training. And the people may ask

[1:08:01] what is the right path? [snorts]

[1:08:05] I say learning is the only right path.

[1:08:09] [laughter]

[1:08:12] Oh really? Because many time people say

[1:08:15] you know they you know what is the right

[1:08:17] path you know [laughter]

[1:08:20] they think they have some kind of map

[1:08:22] arm you know [laughter]

[1:08:25] I wish I wish we have such a what say

[1:08:29] such map you know then [sighs and gasps]

[1:08:33] I'm sorry they know have a map what is a

[1:08:37] right path I don't have to give you a

[1:08:40] map they don't have map what is the as

[1:08:44] map or is learning.

[1:08:48] Learning is the only right path. And

[1:08:52] people ask me

[1:08:55] what is the right method

[1:08:58] or or what is the right method? I'm I'm

[1:09:02] sure they have many method [snorts] but

[1:09:05] I know they have one right method is a

[1:09:08] guarantee function is a I'll say

[1:09:11] training

[1:09:13] training

[1:09:15] is a training is a right method and the

[1:09:19] learning is a right path

[1:09:22] through of learning and the training you

[1:09:26] possible have [snorts]

[1:09:29] yes past

[1:09:32] life

[1:09:34] but I know is a little difficult you say

[1:09:38] [snorts] is it difficult yes is it

[1:09:40] difficult you know

[1:09:43] sometime we have this we have also we

[1:09:48] are the karmic karma means karma means

[1:09:51] we are just habit habit we are habit

[1:09:55] nothing more we are habit happiness is a

[1:09:59] habit health is a habit. Life is a

[1:10:01] habit. You know pain is a habit.

[1:10:04] Pleasure is a habit. Peace is a habit is

[1:10:08] a habit.

[1:10:10] So habit means you need to learn. You

[1:10:13] need to learning and the training to

[1:10:16] have a right kind of habit.

[1:10:19] But you say yes but is a difficult you

[1:10:22] know I cannot [laughter]

[1:10:26] you you say I cannot you know uh yes

[1:10:29] it's possible you say difficult you know

[1:10:32] [snorts]

[1:10:33] uh but I'm sorry I don't have any uh

[1:10:37] give right path or right method better

[1:10:40] than learning and the training

[1:10:45] uh well [snorts]

[1:10:48] is

[1:10:49] If you want the right kind of karma in

[1:10:52] the some of Buddhist teachings say they

[1:10:55] have a right conditions. Four right

[1:10:58] conditions.

[1:11:00] And the first he say [snorts]

[1:11:02] I mean he say focus what you wanted.

[1:11:06] Yeah. Focus what you wanted and you

[1:11:10] become

[1:11:12] and

[1:11:14] [snorts]

[1:11:15] uh always hanging

[1:11:19] with hanging with the right kind of

[1:11:21] people

[1:11:23] and you become look like this. Always

[1:11:26] you talk with the right kind of people.

[1:11:30] Maybe you hang in with the people. Maybe

[1:11:33] I say maybe I say sorry focus

[1:11:37] what you wanted and that's make you go

[1:11:41] to change it

[1:11:43] always hanging people

[1:11:47] [snorts] who you

[1:11:49] admiring are wanted

[1:11:52] always people who always you talk

[1:11:56] you know sorry maybe I make little wrong

[1:12:00] way

[1:12:00] >> [laughter]

[1:12:03] >> better I make a short you know uh well

[1:12:06] if you want some change yourself you

[1:12:09] change it where you focus where you what

[1:12:12] kind of people you hanging what kind of

[1:12:14] you talking what kind of your thinking

[1:12:17] like shortcut if you wanted to change

[1:12:20] yourself you need to change your

[1:12:22] conditions and there are four powerful

[1:12:25] conditions change it the first one you

[1:12:28] you know you need to change what you

[1:12:30] focus. Second one, you need to change it

[1:12:33] what kind of people you hanging. Third,

[1:12:35] you need to change it what you what kind

[1:12:37] of you always talking. Fourth, you need

[1:12:40] to change it what kind of you always

[1:12:42] thinking.

[1:12:44] Maybe with this four conditions you

[1:12:47] change it and [snorts] then maybe your

[1:12:50] karma go to change it. Hopefully, you

[1:12:52] know. Uh well, sorry my answer little

[1:12:56] jump right and left, up and down.

[1:12:59] [laughter]

[1:13:00] But still hopefully this make a little

[1:13:03] sense.

[1:13:07] >> Do we have time for one more question?

[1:13:09] Maybe.

[1:13:10] >> Maybe.

[1:13:11] >> Okay. Uh, is it possible to train this

[1:13:14] meditation and mantra with kids under

[1:13:18] the age of 10?

[1:13:23] >> Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Of course. [snorts]

[1:13:28] Yes. Yes. I say yes. Is a kids wanted

[1:13:32] opened? They needed number one. Uh they

[1:13:37] is they needed number third is they

[1:13:39] wanted. Yes, of course. Of course. Very

[1:13:44] good practice.

[1:13:55] >> Okay.

[1:13:57] You want to do another one or?

[1:13:59] >> No, now I think we time finished. That's

[1:14:02] okay.

[1:14:03] >> Perfect. [snorts] Thank you very much.

[1:14:05] >> Okay. Well, now we have still 10

[1:14:08] minutes. I make a conclusion. The talk

[1:14:11] what I talk very beginning is is okay. I

[1:14:15] make a conclusion.

[1:14:18] Well, um

[1:14:21] uh I always say in people is uh calmness

[1:14:28] is not knowledge but wisdom

[1:14:34] as a calmness is not medicine but

[1:14:39] healing. as a calmness

[1:14:42] is not

[1:14:45] money but is wealth

[1:14:53] as a calmness

[1:14:55] is nature intelligent

[1:14:58] calmness is nature healing

[1:15:02] as a calmness is nature wealth

[1:15:10] Therefore, calmness is

[1:15:15] is not

[1:15:18] knowledge but nature wisdom. Calmness is

[1:15:24] not medicine but nature healing is a

[1:15:28] calmness is a not money but is nature

[1:15:36] wealth

[1:15:39] without calmness

[1:15:44] all

[1:15:47] all what you know is not guarantee help

[1:15:51] You

[1:15:55] without calmness maybe your knowledge

[1:15:59] may be one of the greatest enemy of

[1:16:04] yourself.

[1:16:06] Without calmness

[1:16:11] is knowledge

[1:16:14] is

[1:16:16] what call

[1:16:18] greatness of enemy

[1:16:22] of our mind of our health in our life.

[1:16:28] Therefore never forget it be calm. Never

[1:16:34] forget be calm.

[1:16:37] Once you lose calmness, you lose

[1:16:39] everything.

[1:16:41] Once you lose calmness,

[1:16:44] you lose everything.

[1:16:49] Once you don't lose calmness

[1:16:54] and you have everything,

[1:16:57] you have one, you have everything. What

[1:17:00] is calmness is you lose one, you got to

[1:17:04] lose everything. Once you lose calmness,

[1:17:07] you lose everything. Once you have

[1:17:10] calmness, you have everything. Please

[1:17:15] don't forget be calm. No matter how much

[1:17:19] you happy, never forget to be calm.

[1:17:23] [laughter]

[1:17:26] Without calmness, maybe happiness is

[1:17:29] very [laughter]

[1:17:31] happiness is a big problem. you no

[1:17:34] matter how much you have a problem

[1:17:36] [snorts]

[1:17:37] don't forget it I would say don't forget

[1:17:40] it [laughter]

[1:17:41] to be calm you know and therefore

[1:17:47] yes calmness is only nature wisdom

[1:17:51] calmness is only nature health or

[1:17:54] healing calmness is the only nature

[1:18:00] wealth

[1:18:05] Well,

[1:18:08] I always say in people uh

[1:18:12] uh sorry, that's why uh every morning

[1:18:16] you try to have a 21 minutes practice,

[1:18:21] you know, or 11 minutes or 1 minutes and

[1:18:25] the everyday life. Never forgeted

[1:18:29] what say connectness

[1:18:33] the calmness

[1:18:36] the answer of all questions.

[1:18:39] Calmness

[1:18:41] is a solution of all problems.

[1:18:48] We have a countless answers.

[1:18:53] Sorry there. We have a countless

[1:18:56] questions

[1:18:58] but all the questions

[1:19:00] need only one answer. What is calmness?

[1:19:05] Calmness.

[1:19:06] Don't forget it. Don't forget it. Don't

[1:19:10] forget it. Be calm. And the last of my

[1:19:13] sentence

[1:19:16] I always say in people you know

[1:19:19] [laughter]

[1:19:21] >> [sighs]

[1:19:21] >> uh who ever want more stressful life

[1:19:27] who ever want more overthinking

[1:19:32] uh please never forget it change others.

[1:19:39] Who ever wanted overthinking?

[1:19:44] You know,

[1:19:47] don't forget that change others.

[1:19:51] When you change others, you're not

[1:19:54] longer your owner. Others become your

[1:19:57] owner.

[1:20:00] You know, if you wanted others become

[1:20:03] your owner, don't forget that change

[1:20:06] others. The moment of you start to

[1:20:08] changing others, others become your

[1:20:11] owner. The moment of you start to change

[1:20:13] in the world, the world become owner of

[1:20:15] you. The moment of you start to changing

[1:20:19] [laughter]

[1:20:20] your husband, your husband become owner

[1:20:23] of you. The moment of you start to

[1:20:25] change your wife, your wife become owner

[1:20:27] of you. You know

[1:20:29] we don't like

[1:20:32] you know others own

[1:20:38] If

[1:20:39] you want to become your own owner, don't

[1:20:43] forget that changing yourself.

[1:20:47] Once you change yourself, you become

[1:20:50] your own owner.

[1:20:52] Changing yourself

[1:20:55] enough. [snorts] No matter how much you

[1:20:58] have a problem, only you need to do one

[1:21:01] thing. Change yourself. You know no

[1:21:04] matter whatever you want that you need

[1:21:06] to one thing change yourself. Change

[1:21:08] yourself

[1:21:10] is enough. Therefore changing yourself

[1:21:13] we call yoga of lion. Lion is no have

[1:21:17] honor. [snorts]

[1:21:19] Changing others we call yoga of a dog

[1:21:22] and the dogs have honor.

[1:21:26] Therefore, if you want become your own

[1:21:29] owner, don't forget to change yourself.

[1:21:33] If you want others become your owner,

[1:21:37] please don't forget changing others.

[1:21:42] Therefore, changing others

[1:21:45] is

[1:21:46] ignorance. Changing yourself is wisdom.

[1:21:54] Changing others is illness.

[1:22:00] Changing ourself

[1:22:03] is healing. Therefore, don't forget to

[1:22:06] change yourself.

[1:22:10] And that's all what I want to say and

[1:22:13] thank you very very much and so much

[1:22:18] respect to you all here. I see some of

Tulku Lobsang describes basic mind, which he links to self-grasping and says all species have; conditional or emotional mind, present in many species; and relational mind, which he calls thought or reasoning mind and says only humans possess. The layers are presented as a progression from the most widely shared to the most distinctly human.
He argues that thought is the faculty that lets humans learn and relate without the limits found in other species. The same capacity that expands happiness also expands stress, because humans can gather worry from the past, the future, and the wider world.
In this teaching, Tulku Lobsang places suffering in the relation we form to our thoughts and conditions rather than in thinking itself. He says that even good circumstances can produce suffering if the mind relates to them wrongly.
The teaching suggests not following past thoughts and relating to them differently rather than fighting them. Tulku Lobsang also describes a brief practice of bringing the eyes and mind to rest on the space in front of you, paired with a deep breath and slow exhale.
Tulku Lobsang says the human mind is a reason-making faculty, able to give reasons for happiness and unhappiness alike. He notes that people with excellent health, stability, and comfort can still find well-founded-seeming reasons to worry, because the reasons come from the faculty itself rather than only from circumstances.
The full free online live teaching, How to Find Peace in an Overthinking Mind, is on the Tulku Lobsang YouTube channel, published in October 2026 with a running time of about 83 minutes. The description also links to versions in German, Spanish, French, and Portuguese on the teacher's website.
