Teachers Album: Songs as Lessons on Inner Voice and Self-Trust

Mike Love's full-length album Teachers, released October 17, 2025, is built on a simple premise that its title makes plain: a song can instruct. Presented as a full-album video running just under an hour, the record moves from a sung invocation that calls the listener "the chosen one" to a hard stretch about anger and gun violence, then to an extended argument for self-trust and the inner voice, and finally to a spoken passage that offers a "prescription" for a world the singer sees as overloaded. Mike Love wrote, arranged and produced every song, played guitars, percussion and clavinet, and mixed the album himself at Hill Folk Studio, with tracking spread across six rooms and a string section and horns layered in on selected tracks. What follows is a close reading of how the record teaches, what it asks of a listener, and the craft that holds it together.

What does an album called Teachers actually teach?

Most albums ask to be heard. Teachers asks to be taken to school. The opening minute sets the register: a voice addresses a listener directly, names them chosen "from the sea of souls," and then tells them what to do with that status. The lyric, as captioned in the video, reads:

"So let your truth be told. You're the chosen flower picked from the fertile fields. So let your wisdom be revealed."
Source: lyrics as heard in the album video, opening track

The rhetorical move here is the one a good teacher makes at the start of a lesson. Before offering content, the song establishes the student's worth and then hands over responsibility. Lines about feet hitting the floor and innocence being allowed to soar carry the same instruction in physical terms: stand up, then move. The captions for the opening are auto-generated and occasionally garbled, so the quotations in this piece are limited to lines that read clearly. The argument of the album, however, is not hard to follow, and the invocation is its thesis.

Read against the title, the album's lesson is less about obedience to outside authority and more about what a person can learn from their own life, their own mistakes and their own heart. The songs keep returning to the notion that the student already has the material. The job is to listen to it.

Why does the record spend so long on anger?

The middle of the video is where Teachers stops being gentle. Around the 11-minute mark, the lyric pivots to a warning about the cost of anger, framed in the language of consequences rather than sermon:

"Bridges you burn by letting anger control your emotions. So listen up my friend, cuz all we are is love."
Source: lyrics as captioned in the album video, anger section (approx. 11:17)

What makes this section work as teaching is its refusal to let anger be romanticized. The song sketches a man who believes he has to prove he is "bigger, tougher, harder" than everyone else, and it answers him with a plain logic: you are bound to lose, because there is always something bigger. The refrain that follows, "you ought to know better," repeats like a schoolroom correction, and it lands because it is directed at the listener as much as at the character in the verse.

The lyric then moves into violence, describing a person who carries a weapon, reacts belligerently and ends up in a world where "the first bullets are flying." Here the song's warning becomes concrete. Anger is not presented as a private feeling but as a decision that gets handed to whatever is within reach. The line "How will you control yourself when you got access to a lethal weapon?" is the closest the album comes to a direct question, and it is posed without a lecture-style answer. The listener is asked to answer it.

For a record that elsewhere sings about love and unity, this section is a deliberate counterweight. Teaching in this album includes naming what goes wrong, not only what goes right.

What is the album saying about self-trust and the inner voice?

The clearest thread in the middle and late sections is a sustained argument for independence of mind. Around the 16-minute mark, the lyric sets out the choice plainly: if you take the long road, expect people to try to use you, control you and abuse you. The response is not withdrawal but self-possession:

"Cuz uniquely you were born into this world. You were thrown an individual. You were meant to be. So be yourself. Don't bother someone else's mind."
Source: lyrics as captioned in the album video (approx. 16:53)

Two phrases in the surrounding verses carry much of the album's philosophy. The first is "Follow your heart and set your spirit free," which frames the inner voice as a guide that is always available but often drowned out. The second is a line that insists "you got something better deep inside what you try to hide." Together they describe a process more than a state: the listener is not told who to become, but is told that the material for becoming is already present.

The same section contains a line that reads almost as a disclaimer from teacher to student: "I don't want to change you. I don't want to give you... just want to tell you nothing." Whether one hears that as humility or as a dare, it reflects the record's stance. The songs are offered as prompts, not verdicts. A good lesson leaves the student doing the work.

Later, the album presses the point toward action. One passage tells the listener that "let your actions speak volumes" matters more than talk, because "cheaper to talk" is not the same as being worth something. It is a reminder that teaching measured in words alone is cheap, and that the proof of a lesson is how a person lives it.

What does the spoken prescription add?

Around the 42-minute mark, the album shifts from sung verse to spoken address. The captions for this stretch are fragmentary, and this article does not attempt to reconstruct sentences the transcript cannot reliably support. What is legible is the frame: a speaker offers "a prescription," tells the listener that "lay your burdens down" is part of the cure, and speaks about the things that consume attention. Captions render phrases about "fast cars, smartphones," and about a world that is "artificially intelligent," with a warning about the pace of modern life and what it is costing people.

This passage matters because it widens the lesson beyond the individual. The earlier songs asked the listener to find their inner voice. The spoken section asks what is making that voice hard to hear. The implied diagnosis is that a culture of speed, screens and automation has taken people out of their own lives. The prescription is simpler than the diagnosis: set the burdens down, and return to what is real.

The turn also reframes the album's earlier lessons. Anger, self-doubt and the pull of external approval can be read as symptoms of a life lived too fast. Teaching in this sense is not only moral instruction. It is an invitation to slow down enough to notice what one already knows.

How does the album's craft support its message?

The credits show a record assembled with care and by many hands. Mike Love is credited on vocals, guitars, percussion, clavinet on tracks 1, 3 and 7, and synth on track 3. Recording was done at Prairie Sun Studio by Jim Fox, assisted by Nate Nauseda, with additional recording at Studio Ala Moana by Mike Grande, Blue Planet by Scotty Wilks, Sea Major Seven by Noah Cronin, Urani Studios by Marcus Urani and Hill Folk Studio by Mike Love. The album was mixed by Mike Love at Hill Folk Studio and mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound.

The arrangements are as diverse as the sessions. Track 3 is the most densely populated in the credits: a violin solo by Ben Powell, violin by Rachel Saul and Dan Padilla, viola by Duane Padilla, cello by Josh Nakazawa, congas by Mingo Lewis Jr., and vocals by Advaya Love. Tracks 9 and 10 share the string section, and track 9 adds a bowed double bass by Jon Hawes. Track 8 carries the largest ensemble of backing voices and rhythm players, with Keith Tsukamaki on piano, Rhodes and synth, Sam Gonsalves on drums, and Chris De Graauw on bass vocals. Horns appear throughout: Reggie Padilla on tenor and baritone saxophones, Arthur Davis on trombone and Eldred Ahlo on trumpet. Marcus Urani contributes B3 organ and a cowbell on track 1.

Why does this matter for a lesson-album? Because the sonic variety mirrors the argument. A record about many voices and many paths is built from many players and rooms. The layering of strings and horns over sparse verses suggests that the teaching is not a single authoritative voice but a chorus, which fits a message about the inner voice that every listener already carries.

Where to go from here

To hear Teachers in full, listen at ineffable.to/teachers, or watch the full-album video, then return to the opening track and listen again with the anger and self-trust sections in mind. The lessons change shape once you hear how the record moves from invocation to warning to prescription.

The album video's description also points to other full-album releases and singles from Mike Love: Leaders (full album), Permanent Holiday, Babylon Control and These Are My Roots. Those titles are a natural next step for anyone who wants to follow the same questions across more of the catalog.

The best way to study Teachers is the same way the record asks to be studied: listen closely, notice what it asks of you, and decide for yourself what you have already learned.

[11:43] than to waste your time for real with

[11:47] one another.

[11:50] I love you.

[11:52] You know you ought to know better.

[11:56] [Music]

[11:57] Walking in the room looking for someone

[11:59] to [ __ ] with the what the [ __ ] you're

[12:01] looking at and how you going to help my

[12:04] brother.

[12:05] You know your mama thought you better.

[12:13] [Music]

[12:36] You must think you're so cool.

[12:39] You think a gun gives you power and that

[12:42] you'll never come when they come for

[12:44] you.

[12:46] And the first bullets are flying. You

[12:48] think you pull your iron to let me keep

[12:50] you safe

[12:52] to have the weapon of a murderer. Tuck

[12:55] beneath your comforter. I'd like to have

[12:57] more faith.

[12:59] Yeah, but your man is dangerous.

[13:03] And every time that you fly off the deep

[13:06] end, you go and lose your [ __ ] How will

[13:10] you control yourself when you got access

[13:12] to a lethal weapon? Right at your

[13:15] fingertips around you.

[13:19] You ought to know better

[13:23] than to throw your life away. Gang

[13:25] banging on your brother.

[13:29] Oh, you

[13:31] you know you ought to know better.

[13:34] [Applause]

[13:36] Walking around with a pistol in your

[13:39] waist. Every time you get belligerent,

[13:41] you're shooting up the place. You bad

[13:43] [ __ ]

[13:45] You're just a bully and a coward.

[13:48] [Music]

[13:48] [Applause]

[13:53] [Music]

[14:03] They only got this one chance and then

[14:05] the moon bus is written in the stars. So

[14:08] if you leave the sky, you got to learn

[14:10] your lesson that this is a blessing. So

[14:13] when you think you got it in reverse

[14:16] takeh

[14:19] everything you want everything you got

[14:22] me drop

[14:25] the pieces of your life on yourself

[14:28] as all is violence.

[14:31] It's just the way they can control you

[14:33] and get the shackles on you. You show

[14:36] your ignorance

[14:38] when you lose control of yourself and

[14:40] make it so you

[14:44] you know better.

[14:48] [Music]

[14:50] You know you know better

[14:55] you.

[14:58] You ought to know better.

[15:02] Nobody deserves den

[15:06] forgiven. So live a peaceful one. Every

[15:09] new is your way to go discover the

[15:12] truth. The choice is up to you.

[15:17] [Music]

[15:29] >> Okay.

[15:31] Dad, wake up, Dad. Dad, Dad,

[15:36] [Music]

[15:57] your voice.

[15:59] [Music]

[16:06] Inevitably changes it and again we wake

[16:08] up and knowing where we are

[16:11] and the will of these changes. It's how

[16:13] we get down and define who we are. Yeah.

[16:18] And if you choose the long road, be sure

[16:19] you ever struggle the dump within your

[16:21] heart

[16:23] cuz they will try to use you, control

[16:25] you and abuse you before you get too

[16:28] far.

[16:30] Never mind the scars

[16:35] [Music]

[16:36] of the stereotypes cuz it is very likely

[16:39] that lightning will strike twice. But if

[16:42] you keep watching the signs of crash or

[16:44] not, you're sure to reach the higher

[16:46] heights.

[16:47] And take a little time to open up your

[16:50] eyes and stand on your two feet. Yeah.

[16:53] Cuz uniquely you were born into this

[16:55] world. You were thrown an individual.

[16:57] You were meant to be. So be yourself.

[16:59] Don't bother someone else's mind. You

[17:03] know you couldn't even if you tried. And

[17:06] you got something better deep inside

[17:08] what you try to hide. Be yourself.

[17:12] Follow your heart and set your spirit

[17:13] free. Unleash your creativity

[17:18] and whatever you choose to be all right

[17:21] with me. I don't want to change you.

[17:26] I don't want to give you just want to

[17:29] tell you

[17:30] nothing.

[17:49] [Applause]

[17:53] Hey yo, it's only a matter of time

[17:56] before you find that there is something

[17:57] inside trying to wake up the burst out

[17:59] of your seamst. And it might take a day,

[18:02] a month, a year before you hear your

[18:03] inner voice and make the choice to

[18:05] follow your dreams. I know it seems

[18:06] impossible, but in fact, it's probable

[18:08] that this path was laid out for you to

[18:09] walk. I know it's cheaper to talk, but

[18:11] you're worth more than that. So, let

[18:13] your actions speak volumes, and they

[18:14] will call you profit by what you know it

[18:16] so well.

[18:19] Follow the words that are written in

[18:20] your heart. Don't let this world keep

[18:23] you apart cuz they can never take away

[18:26] your heart. tor

[18:31] something that you

[18:34] will try to get through.

[18:40] [Music]

[18:49] [Music]

[18:53] Heat. Heat.

[18:59] [Music]

[19:03] Heat.

[19:11] Heat.

[19:13] [Applause]

[19:15] [Music]

[19:38] When everyone is asleep in the sheets

[19:40] and dreaming, I lie awake and

[19:42] contemplate the life we th

[19:46] every star, Every

[19:49] Christmas

[19:58] I see

[20:49] Heat.

[20:52] [Music]

[20:59] Heat.

[21:02] [Music]

[21:11] [Music]

[21:16] Heat.

[21:22] [Music]

[21:46] I will wait.

[21:49] [Music]

[21:50] I will wait.

[21:54] I will wait

[21:57] for you.

[22:01] I will wait.

[22:05] I will wait.

[22:09] I will wait

[22:12] for you.

[22:17] I will wait.

[22:19] [Music]

[22:24] Heat. Heat.

[22:26] [Music]

[22:34] Heat.

[22:42] [Music]

[22:48] Heat.

[22:56] Heat. Heat. Heat.

[23:06] Heat. Heat.

[23:17] Heat. Heat.

[23:21] [Music]

[23:35] Heat. Heat.

[23:43] [Music]

[23:52] I will wait.

[23:56] I will wait

[23:59] for you.

[24:15] The time is come for the leaders to

[24:17] rise. Ancient esoteric knowledge that

[24:20] has been hidden from us for so long must

[24:22] be returned to the people of the earth.

[24:24] >> Where's all the leaders

[24:26] come out of hiding?

[24:29] Where's all the teachers?

[24:31] We need you now.

[24:34] To all the healers,

[24:37] this is a calling.

[24:41] control.

[24:45] [Applause]

[24:47] We need

[24:53] [Music]

[25:08] [Music]

[25:11] Heat. Heat.

[25:16] [Music]

[25:34] [Music]

[25:38] Ooh.

[25:44] Why do they want to see us running free

[25:47] in open fields thinking for ourselves?

[25:52] They want to feel your guidance with the

[25:55] concrete and the steel and keep us in

[25:59] ourselves

[26:01] for you.

[26:03] It's not in my soul. land is an

[26:06] important control

[26:09] cuz you feel it

[26:12] to be true and the falls of the weak

[26:15] never put their hands on you. No, I'm

[26:19] never

[26:21] because they know not what I'm about

[26:27] and I will never

[26:31] the You don't put me

[26:35] down

[26:46] [Music]

[26:48] freedom

[26:50] of war like it's

[26:53] for sale.

[26:55] I'm a we all this freedom that you're

[26:58] talking so much for. The truth is

[27:01] turning down.

[27:06] I see you so clear and your eyes are

[27:09] afraid of the dark full of fear. Cuz we

[27:12] are lazy

[27:14] and you know your time has come. Never

[27:17] let me turn up your heels and run. N

[27:22] will never

[27:25] because they know that's what's above

[27:29] and I will never give up

[27:34] the fire down but the

[27:46] I know you're talking talking but you

[27:48] can't seem to mind.

[27:52] Yeah. No, you can't because your money

[27:55] and your power is smoking in the chart.

[28:01] [Applause]

[28:11] They think we never have the power to

[28:14] control to tear aart.

[28:17] Yeah.

[28:29] Simon and give someone reason to see

[28:40] my

[28:49] [Music]

[28:55] Heat. Heat.

[29:03] [Music]

[29:12] Never give up.

[29:14] [Music]

[29:24] remember.

[29:27] [Music]

[29:30] Ooh.

[29:32] Ooh.

[29:35] [Music]

[29:44] Oh,

[29:47] hey.

[29:48] [Music]

[30:01] Heat.

[30:03] [Music]

[30:07] Heat. Heat.

[30:11] [Music]

[30:34] [Applause]

[30:38] Hey,

[30:42] [Music]

[30:43] [Applause]

[30:48] First few years were no piece of cake,

[30:54] but homies knew that we would make it

[30:58] here.

[31:01] We shed some. We shed some tears.

[31:07] We did the work to make it work. Just to

[31:11] begin,

[31:13] show you things I never wanted anyone to

[31:17] see.

[31:20] You lied you to the darker side of me.

[31:26] You help me away the las again. You're

[31:30] my best friend. You showed me more than

[31:33] you could ever know. And I love you so.

[31:36] I love the world.

[31:39] Parts of you that hurt

[31:42] the damage to the world.

[31:46] parts of you are beautiful to me and I

[31:52] just wanted to

[31:54] express my gratitude

[31:56] [Music]

[31:58] especially

[32:00] in the parts of me too.

[32:05] [Music]

[32:11] [Music]

[32:29] Heat.

[32:34] Heat.

[32:38] Heat. Heat.

[32:40] [Music]

[32:45] [Music]

[32:54] What is this?

[33:00] [Music]

[33:17] As we grew, we became one.

[33:22] Then we had to go and find ourselves

[33:26] again.

[33:29] All I ever wanted was the truth.

[33:35] All I ever need was the truth.

[33:39] [Music]

[33:42] Never thought that I could say such

[33:44] hurtful things.

[33:48] I never let the darkness spread its

[33:51] wings.

[33:54] But you never the seasons fast. There's

[33:58] no

[34:01] rain and through the crazy fight. I love

[34:06] the words

[34:08] parts of you that hurt

[34:11] the damage to the world

[34:14] of you are beautiful.

[34:17] [Music]

[34:23] [Music]

[34:33] Heat.

[34:38] [Music]

[34:48] Heat.

[34:53] [Music]

[34:55] Heat.

[34:57] Heat.

[35:04] [Music]

[35:07] [Applause]

[35:09] It's the same. We remain

[35:12] together.

[35:14] [Music]

[35:17] Nothing can tear this love.

[35:23] Cuz I love the worst.

[35:27] Parts of you the dirt,

[35:30] the damage to the worst.

[35:33] Parts of you are beautiful and me.

[35:39] wanted to

[35:42] express my gratitude.

[35:45] Especially

[35:48] [Music]

[36:00] just

[36:04] [Music]

[36:07] the best to see you

[36:14] parts of You

[36:20] [Music]

[36:33] [Music]

[36:35] promise my heart to you. From this

[36:39] moment until the end of time, I'll be

[36:44] unconditionally

[36:47] your lover, your best friend, your

[36:51] perfect reflection. If you will marry

[36:56] me, I will make you happy. Promise my

[37:01] heart to you. From this moment until the

[37:07] end of time, I'll be unconditionally

[37:12] your lover, your best friend, your

[37:16] perfect reflection. If you will marry

[37:21] me, I will make you happy.

[37:26] [Music]

[37:35] [Music]

[37:41] [Music]

[37:51] [Music]

[38:01] [Music]

[38:03] Oh,

[38:06] now

[38:07] [Music]

[38:10] You felt an aching pain,

[38:14] a slight pressure in your brain.

[38:18] You feel like you're going insane and

[38:21] you can't maintain. Your emotions are

[38:24] overwhelming.

[38:26] Leave your troubles behind

[38:30] and let your worries unwind.

[38:35] Forget about the date and time and relax

[38:38] your mind. It's going to be fine.

[38:42] Everything is right. It's too short to

[38:45] waste a moment. Just live and enjoy

[38:49] every breath that you've been given. Cuz

[38:52] negativity only attracts the negative.

[38:55] And this life was meant to live. So be

[38:58] positive cuz this could be the last time

[39:02] that I see your face and feel your warm

[39:06] embrace. So this moment would be of cry

[39:12] and shame to waste.

[39:15] I sick. I'll give you some medicine. Lay

[39:20] your burdens down. Open up your heart

[39:22] and let it in. You're searching for

[39:24] answers. I'll give you a prescription.

[39:28] Music is the car and the doctor is here.

[39:38] [Music]

[39:43] [Applause]

[39:49] beating deep inside

[39:53] is the rhythm that keeps you alive.

[39:57] The melodies of how to survive are all

[40:02] striking

[40:03] [Music]

[40:10] like a bird in a tree. Cuz we'll forever

[40:16] be free on this melody.

[40:19] [Music]

[40:21] Yeah. Can't you hear?

[40:24] Take a deep breath. Close your eyes and

[40:26] know. Take in the V and let the circle

[40:31] grow. Cuz we need each other to make

[40:34] this music. And we need music like the

[40:36] flowers need the sun to grow. So if this

[40:40] is the last time that I see your face, I

[40:44] want to see you smiling so bright. And

[40:47] if this is the last time that we embrace

[40:52] your news, I'm going to hold you tight.

[40:54] Yeah. So if you're sick, I'll give you

[40:57] some medicine. Lay your burdens down.

[41:00] Open up your heart and let it in. You're

[41:03] searching for answers. But I'll give you

[41:06] a Christmas. Music is the cure and the

[41:09] doctor is in it.

[41:13] A little bit the drum can fall away.

[41:19] [Music]

[41:24] Oh yeah.

[41:28] So lay your burdens on the floor. You

[41:31] can dance no more. I love your heart.

[41:35] The music

[41:45] [Music]

[41:50] [Music]

[41:59] Heat. Heat.

[42:01] [Music]

[42:10] [Music]

[42:23] [Music]

[42:28] Jazz, blues, hip hop, fusion, funk, and

[42:31] soul. Classical flamco country rock.

[42:37] So let you divine as long as you feel it

[42:40] with a passion deep within your soul.

[42:43] But for me there's one sound that I will

[42:46] always love that takes all my pain away.

[42:51] One sweet sound that lifts me so high

[42:55] above. Sweet freaking music.

[43:01] I'll give you some medicine. Lay your

[43:03] burdens down. Open up your heart and let

[43:06] it in. you're searching for and say,

[43:09] "Well, I'll give you a prescription.

[43:11] Music is the cure and the doctor is

[43:17] [Music]

[43:30] [Applause]

[43:32] So if you're stressed now, music is the

[43:36] feeling.

[43:38] Music is the cure. Feel like you're all

[43:41] alone.

[43:42] >> Music is the feeling.

[43:46] [Music]

[43:58] Do you remember the things that I man

[44:00] teach you about?

[44:02] >> Yes. Yes.

[44:04] If you

[44:05] >> are seeking something, you must give

[44:08] something.

[44:11] You must give something.

[44:13] >> It's time for us to acknowledge our our

[44:17] identity in the universe.

[44:22] >> You cannot tell them anything. You have

[44:24] to show them. You have to lead them by

[44:26] example.

[44:27] >> Your need for acceptance can make you

[44:29] invisible invisible.

[44:32] >> When we have fear in us,

[44:35] we become very weak.

[44:39] We are much less than oursel.

[44:42] Every time a fear

[44:45] is taking us over, we suffer so much

[44:49] and we have impression that we are

[44:51] nothing except fear.

[44:54] Do not let them scare you into silence.

[44:58] >> Death is a force of nature, just like

[45:01] lightning. The righteous face it every

[45:04] day and pass it by. But those with evil

[45:07] in their hearts fear it. That is why

[45:10] there's no need to slay the wicked. Just

[45:13] lead them to face death and they will

[45:15] perish.

[45:22] [Music]

[45:25] We need you now.

[45:27] [Music]

[45:31] >> Don't let anything stand in the way of

[45:32] the light that shines through this form.

[45:35] Risk being seen in all of your glory.

[45:45] Where's all the leaders come out of

[45:48] hiding?

[45:50] Where's all the teachers?

[45:53] We need you now

[45:55] to all the healers.

[45:58] This is a calling.

[46:00] This world is slipping into darkness.

[46:06] Where's all the lovers?

[46:08] Come out and dance now. Too many haters

[46:13] running the muck.

[46:16] There's children starving.

[46:18] People are thirsty.

[46:21] The politicians

[46:23] just don't give a [ __ ]

[46:26] Where's all the forests?

[46:28] They're disappearing.

[46:31] They're making way for factory farms and

[46:36] this wrong direction.

[46:39] So crystal clear. But they just refuse

[46:43] to heed the alarm.

[46:47] But mama's angry. Don't mess with mama.

[46:52] There's only so much that she can take.

[46:57] Why? Like a spoiled child, we keep on

[47:00] pushing, pushing. But how long before

[47:05] she breaks?

[47:07] And all these fast cars, smartphones,

[47:10] and fast food are pushing us faster

[47:15] until the end.

[47:17] And would we trade them just for a

[47:21] moment

[47:22] a brighter future

[47:25] for our children today?

[47:36] Where's all the leaders?

[47:38] Come out of hiding.

[47:40] Where's all the teachers?

[47:43] We need you now.

[47:46] To all the healers.

[47:48] This is a calling.

[47:51] This world is slipping into darkness.

[48:00] [Music]

[48:12] Heat up here.

[48:25] Heat.

[48:32] [Music]

[48:40] Heat.

[48:47] Heat.

[48:50] Heat.

[49:00] Heat. Heat. Heat.

[49:10] Heat. Heat. Heat.

[49:19] [Music]

[49:21] When will we wake up?

[49:24] Will we wait till the stars have all

[49:25] fallen from the heavens? Do we all fall

[49:28] for chapter 11? Spirits bankrupt of

[49:31] spirituality. Artificially intelligent

[49:34] living in a virtual reality.

[49:36] While the world that sustains us becomes

[49:38] bankrupt of resource, stripped of

[49:41] beauty, stripped of wealth, stripped of

[49:42] dignity and discourse.

[49:44] And is there any remorse

[49:47] for trading our children's future for

[49:49] shortsighted selfishness?

[49:51] Comfortably rotting away in our own

[49:54] place.

[49:56] Comfort at a cost. Comfort at a cost.

[50:00] Comfort at a cost.

[50:03] And look at what we've lost.

[50:06] And look at what we still have to lose.

[50:10] And which path will we choose?

[50:13] Are we bound to drown?

[50:16] [Music]

[50:25] [Music]

[50:39] [Applause]

[50:44] There is a message

[50:46] within

[50:51] you of control.

[50:55] But when you make it through it, you

[50:57] will have all you need to know.

[51:02] [Music]

[51:11] Oh,

[51:12] [Music]

[51:17] don't

[51:20] give up hope.

[51:23] This world isn't over.

[51:26] It's time to start over. Oh

[51:30] no.

[51:33] Give up hope.

[51:36] It's time to remember.

[51:39] Return to the center. Yeah. Yeah.

[51:43] I let the tears fall down from my feet.

[51:47] I refuse to wipe them away. I let them

[51:51] fall to the earth forming patterns in

[51:53] the dirt. hieroglyphics of a world

[51:55] called haywire. Watch the blood pour out

[51:58] of your wounds. The doctor said that

[52:01] there was nothing they could do. Another

[52:04] breath is life lost too soon. Another

[52:06] victim of a system of deception and

[52:09] delusion.

[52:11] Words coming

[52:14] undone.

[52:16] I let the waves come and wash over me.

[52:20] First the confusion, then the anger,

[52:22] then the grief. I watch the people pass

[52:24] by with eyes glazed over. Another story

[52:27] to be buried in the news. I watch the

[52:30] flames rise up to the sky. I hold my

[52:33] breath, wait for the phoenix to rise. I

[52:36] watch the embers in the transforming

[52:38] patterns as they dance. Constellations

[52:40] of a stationary society.

[52:43] But now we're breaking

[52:47] free.

[52:51] [Music]

[52:53] Give up.

[52:56] This world isn't over.

[53:00] It's time to start over. Oh

[53:04] no.

[53:06] Give up.

[53:09] It's time to remember.

[53:13] Return to the center. Yeah. Yeah.

[53:17] Another day, another dollar. So the

[53:20] saying goes inevitably we fall in the

[53:22] trap filling the same roles consuming

[53:24] this producing that like hogs in a

[53:26] machine to blind to see this fantasy

[53:29] American dream and the day and the

[53:32] prayer flows from yet my ego give me

[53:35] strength to overcome strength to be an

[53:38] example for my rules and my sissies

[53:40] strength to be the leader and teacher I

[53:42] was born to be strengthen my breathing

[53:45] and the power on the front line strength

[53:47] of the mothers and the doctors is

[53:49] working overtime. Strength of the

[53:51] teachers speaking truth in a world lies.

[53:53] Strengthen the children may they grow to

[53:55] teach. I strengthen the farmers growing

[53:58] food without pesticides. Strength the

[54:01] vegans who see the value in every life.

[54:03] Strengthen the few policemen who refuse

[54:05] to take a ride. Strengthen the

[54:07] politicians fight.

[54:10] The most abus

[54:13] [Music]

[54:20] [Music]

[54:36] Yeah.

[54:38] Heat.

[54:40] [Music]

[54:56] Oh, there is

[55:03] when you find

[55:05] [Music]

[55:08] when you make it through.

[55:10] [Music]

[55:15] [Music]

[55:21] [Music]

[55:29] Heat.

[55:38] Heat.

[55:40] [Music]

[55:53] [Music]

[55:57] Heat.

[56:00] Heat.

[56:13] Heat. Heat.

[56:23] Heat. Heat.

[56:34] Heat. Heat.

[56:51] Heat.

[56:53] Heat.

[57:03] Oh,

[57:14] [Music]

[57:20] there's a place where peace exists.

[57:23] Beyond the shadows, beyond the abyss. We

[57:27] will all meet there someday. But

[57:30] everyone must find their own way.

[57:34] >> You will fail, you'll know success. You

[57:37] must know sorrow to know you're blessed.

[57:41] We all have this price to pay. But

[57:44] everyone must find their own way.

[57:50] This life that we're given is a journey.

[57:53] Painful, joyful, comical, enlightening,

[57:57] exciting, unpredictable, and

[57:59] frightening.

[58:00] We sin from the mountaintops. We swear

[58:02] at the traffic stops.

[58:05] We shelter in the embrace of family and

[58:08] see our true reflection in our enemy's

[58:10] eyes.

[58:12] We laugh, we cry, we learn, we forget,

[58:16] we work, we play, we yearn, we regret.

[58:19] Most of the time we're just pushing that

[58:21] great big boulder up the hill only for

[58:24] it to roll back down again at the end of

[58:26] the day.

[58:28] But what most of us don't realize is

[58:30] that pushing the boulder is changing us

[58:32] fundamentally.

[58:34] But it's up to us to interpret how the

[58:37] perceptions we choose shape the

[58:39] projections we produce to manifest the

[58:41] world we create.

[58:44] The greatest gift we've been given in

[58:46] this life is the ability to choose.

[58:49] No matter what the situation, we always

[58:51] have a choice we can make.

[58:54] [Music]

[58:55] So this is my hope

[58:57] for all of us to make this world a

[58:59] little bit better. One small choice at a

[59:01] time.

[59:04] It's time to wake up. It's time to

[59:07] remember.

[59:08] Wipe away the makeup and return to the

[59:11] center.

[59:13] So don't give up hope, family. Don't

[59:15] give up hope. This world isn't over.

[59:21] It's time to start over.

Teachers, released October 17, 2025, is a full-length album in which the songs function as lessons. Its arc moves from an opening invocation that calls the listener chosen, through warnings about anger and violence, to a sustained argument for self-trust and the inner voice, and ends with a spoken passage about the pressures of modern life.
The album credits state that all songs were written, arranged and produced by Mike Love, who also mixed the record at Hill Folk Studio. Other musicians, including a string section, horns and backing vocalists, are credited on specific tracks.
The refrain works like a schoolroom correction, reminding the listener that they are capable of better choices. In the anger section, it is used to confront the urge to prove toughness through aggression and to warn about the consequences of reacting with a weapon.
The album argues that every person already carries the material for their own growth, and that the task is to listen to it. Lines such as 'be yourself, follow your heart and set your spirit free' frame self-trust as a practice rather than a fixed state.
According to the album credits, tracks 3, 9 and 10 feature violin, viola and cello, with a violin solo by Ben Powell on track 3. Horns, including tenor and baritone saxophone, trombone and trumpet, are credited across the record, and Jon Hawes plays bowed double bass on track 9.
The album is listed at ineffable.to/teachers, and the full-album video is on Mike Love's YouTube channel. The description also links to other full albums and singles, including Leaders and Permanent Holiday.
