[0:03] >> When Mansour
[0:04] >> [clears throat]
[0:04] >> said "Anal Haq."
[0:06] He was killed alive by the people.
[0:09] >> [music]
[0:11] >> Jesus, whatever he said, very powerful
[0:14] words, he did transform people who came
[0:17] in touch with him. But what a mess has
[0:19] been created with those words over 2,000
[0:22] years. All this
[0:24] spiritual teachings, best if they were
[0:28] not available to larger masses.
[0:31] Once you know that something is a
[0:34] method,
[0:35] >> [music]
[0:35] >> it doesn't work for you.
[0:41] The divine is always welling up.
[0:44] Though it is so
[0:47] omnipresent,
[0:48] you can still ignore it. That is the
[0:51] tragedy of it.
[0:53] The whole
[0:55] concept of [music] renunciation
[0:59] came from this. The physical nakedness
[1:02] will not clear up the mess.
[1:05] All that is visible to the eye you can
[1:07] drop,
[1:08] but you can [music] still carry a world
[1:10] of baggage on your head.
[1:12] Just for one moment, make yourself
[1:15] completely vulnerable. It'll happen.
[1:19] That which you
[1:22] refer to as
[1:25] the divine,
[1:32] that which is constantly
[1:38] being called as God,
[1:42] it is not something that you pursue
[1:45] and catch one day.
[1:52] It is not something that you reach.
[1:56] Nor is it something that you to.
[2:03] If you
[2:05] make yourself vulnerable
[2:07] enough,
[2:13] if you become defenseless enough,
[2:18] it gets you.
[2:24] It's more like the flu.
[2:29] If your defenses are down, it just gets
[2:32] you.
[2:36] If your defenses are up,
[2:41] if your dis- defense mechanism is strong
[2:43] and active,
[2:48] you don't feel it at all.
[2:57] It is not an entity.
[3:01] It does not.
[3:22] It is not an entity.
[3:26] It is not something that resides in some
[3:28] geographical space.
[3:35] Life is its residence
[3:41] in everything that's alive.
[3:47] The divine is always welling up.
[3:55] It is just that
[4:01] one has to become
[4:02] sensitive enough, vulnerable enough
[4:08] to get it.
[4:17] The idea of packing you up in a
[4:21] tent like this is so that you get the
[4:23] flu.
[4:34] It's as simple as that.
[4:38] And as unattainable as that.
[4:42] A flu
[4:44] is not a simple thing.
[4:47] If you say I want it, you don't get it.
[4:53] When you were a child and you were going
[4:55] to school,
[4:58] if today was a test day,
[5:01] you prayed to God, "Let me get a flu."
[5:05] Somebody else got it, not you.
[5:10] It's not easy to get a flu.
[5:14] But
[5:18] if you're vulnerable, it just gets you
[5:20] without any effort.
[5:25] So, all the Sadhana
[5:26] that one does
[5:29] is not to attain
[5:31] anything.
[5:33] Just to wear your defenses down
[5:36] so that you become vulnerable enough.
[5:40] You become available
[5:45] in every
[5:46] grain of sand,
[5:48] in every piece of life.
[5:54] In every atom and sub atom,
[5:58] it is constantly welling up.
[6:08] >> Though it is so
[6:10] omnipresent
[6:14] so
[6:16] overwhelmingly present
[6:20] you can still ignore it. That's the
[6:22] beauty of it.
[6:24] That is the tragedy of it.
[6:28] And that is the greatness of it.
[6:31] The very source of creation
[6:34] is so humble
[6:37] that it stands in such a way
[6:40] that you can ignore it.
[6:44] The divine could have stood up like a
[6:46] tower
[6:48] where nobody can ignore it.
[6:52] But uh
[6:53] that beauty of divinity is just that.
[6:56] Though it's the very source of creation
[7:01] and it is a basis of everything that is
[7:03] pulsating as life right now including
[7:06] your own being
[7:09] it stands in such humility
[7:13] that you can choose to ignore it.
[7:30] If
[7:31] one has to
[7:33] become sensitive enough
[7:35] not to ignore it.
[7:40] One thing is to understand that it has
[7:42] never left you.
[7:45] >> [laughter]
[7:46] >> Because
[7:50] if it has left you, how would you be?
[8:06] What you call as myself,
[8:11] what you call as life,
[8:14] is such a fragile play of elements,
[8:18] five.
[8:23] This play
[8:26] cannot be on
[8:30] without the core player.
[8:36] Every moment
[8:39] he's on.
[8:44] Though he is the core player,
[8:47] such is his humility
[8:50] that most people
[8:53] can never see him.
[9:00] It is because of this,
[9:04] having recognized
[9:08] the quality
[9:11] of the divine,
[9:14] that many devotees around the world
[9:18] took on the same attitude
[9:22] that
[9:25] they always tend aside,
[9:28] never in the way.
[9:38] It is because of this,
[9:41] having recognized the essential quality
[9:43] of the divine,
[9:46] that any number of spiritual paths
[9:49] always talked about putting yourself
[9:51] aside.
[9:56] Because that is the
[9:58] basic nature of the core player of the
[10:00] existence.
[10:09] People are calling upon God
[10:12] like he's gone far away.
[10:17] He hasn't left you.
[10:19] That's the problem.
[10:21] And that's the solution.
[10:26] On a certain day
[10:32] a man was sitting
[10:35] in a local bar.
[10:40] Mac Manuel
[10:47] I heard Mac Manuel is going through a
[10:49] facelift.
[10:55] >> [clears throat]
[11:01] >> And he looked depressed.
[11:04] And he was downing drink after drink.
[11:09] Another man
[11:10] who watched this man
[11:13] with some concern
[11:15] came up to him and asked, "What's the
[11:17] matter?
[11:18] You seem to be really depressed and
[11:20] down.
[11:22] What is it? What happened to you?"
[11:26] So this man said,
[11:29] "My wife
[11:31] took everything I had and she left me
[11:34] today."
[11:39] That man said, "What is your problem?
[11:44] What are you complaining about?
[11:46] My wife took everything I had and she
[11:48] didn't leave me."
[11:51] >> [laughter]
[11:59] >> He hasn't left you.
[12:04] But
[12:08] he wants to take everything that you
[12:10] have.
[12:14] >> [laughter]
[12:15] >> Otherwise, you don't feel it. That's a
[12:17] problem.
[12:21] The whole
[12:24] concept of renunciation
[12:27] came from this. Renunciation is a small
[12:30] misunderstanding of this aspect.
[12:34] Unless you give yourself completely,
[12:37] unless you put everything aside,
[12:40] unless you make yourself vulnerable and
[12:42] defenseless,
[12:47] the very core of life is missing in
[12:50] one's life.
[12:51] So, people
[12:53] gave up their families,
[12:56] gave up many of those things which
[12:59] mattered to them at one time in their
[13:01] life,
[13:02] their comforts,
[13:06] everything possible,
[13:08] and walked away into the forest.
[13:12] This has always been the way.
[13:17] So, is this the way?
[13:24] Whether you walk away into the forest
[13:28] or into the mountains or into the
[13:31] desert,
[13:34] even if you walk naked,
[13:36] you can still carry a world with you.
[13:40] The physical nakedness
[13:44] will not clear up the mess.
[13:47] Yes, it could be one of the steps.
[13:51] If you are too attached to certain
[13:54] things,
[13:55] it could help.
[13:59] But,
[14:01] all that is visible to the eye, you can
[14:04] drop,
[14:05] but you can still carry a world of
[14:07] baggage on your head.
[14:10] So, essentially,
[14:14] all the systems and methods
[14:18] are trying to
[14:20] put your defense mechanism down so that
[14:22] you can catch the flu.
[14:29] To be here unconcerned about what's
[14:33] next.
[14:35] To be here
[14:37] in such a sense of trust
[14:43] that whatever comes next is not at all
[14:45] the issue.
[14:47] These are all wonderful methods
[14:50] because
[14:56] of
[14:58] all kinds of misuse and exploitation.
[15:03] And once you know that something is a
[15:06] method, it doesn't work for you.
[15:09] You will learn a way
[15:11] to subvert that method.
[15:17] You will find a technique
[15:19] against the technique.
[15:23] So, what new methods can we go about
[15:25] creating?
[15:27] We can go about creating,
[15:31] but it just takes a little while to
[15:33] corrupt that.
[15:38] It just takes a little application
[15:41] of your logical mind
[15:44] to find a way around that.
[15:49] You know.
[15:54] As many of you understand, being in
[15:56] silence means talking quietly. Nobody
[15:59] should hear you.
[16:01] >> [laughter]
[16:10] >> You know, I just came from Washington,
[16:14] DC.
[16:19] There was a junior officer working in
[16:22] Pentagon.
[16:29] And
[16:31] he had his own office space.
[16:35] He moved his table from one corner to
[16:37] another, another corner to another.
[16:39] Every day he moved it to different
[16:40] places.
[16:42] Then he moved his place his table into
[16:45] his secretary's space.
[16:47] Then he moved his table out into the
[16:49] corridor.
[16:51] He tried all those
[16:54] eight faces of the building.
[16:58] Then he moved his table to the men's
[17:00] room
[17:03] one day
[17:04] and he started working there.
[17:08] All this
[17:11] migratory trends
[17:14] people watched but nobody said anything
[17:17] because in Pentagon nobody says anything
[17:19] to anybody.
[17:21] They're all a secret.
[17:29] Then he settled down in the men's room
[17:33] and started doing his work.
[17:35] They waited for a few days hoping
[17:38] that he will move elsewhere, but he
[17:40] settled there.
[17:45] Then nobody wanted to approach him.
[17:47] So they called the office psychiatrist.
[17:55] And they told him the man is working
[17:57] from his from the men's room.
[18:02] So the psychiatrist casually walked in
[18:05] as if he had a business in the men's
[18:07] room.
[18:09] And just tried to chat him up.
[18:12] Then he found the guy was quite normal
[18:14] and fine.
[18:18] Then he directly asked him, "What is
[18:20] this? Why are you working?
[18:23] From the men's room of all the places."
[18:27] He said,
[18:28] "See, I have moved my working space to
[18:30] every place in this building.
[18:34] And at last I realized this is the only
[18:37] place where people know what they're
[18:38] doing."
[18:41] >> [applause]
[18:49] [laughter]
[18:57] >> So,
[19:02] >> [clears throat]
[19:04] >> in this hall you shift where you want.
[19:08] You don't know what the hell is
[19:09] happening around you.
[19:16] Especially those innocent people who had
[19:17] just enrolled into
[19:21] inner engineering.
[19:24] And they suddenly ended up here.
[19:29] They found so much sanity
[19:31] in those
[19:32] 7 days.
[19:35] They [clears throat] thought they will
[19:36] find much more here.
[19:47] You don't find any sanity here because
[19:49] this is not men's room.
[19:51] >> [laughter]
[19:53] >> Nobody knows what they're doing.
[19:56] >> [laughter]
[20:03] >> Nobody knows what they're doing.
[20:05] But they're doing it great intensity.
[20:08] >> [laughter]
[20:12] >> That is the beauty of becoming
[20:14] spiritual. You don't have to know what
[20:16] you're doing.
[20:17] If you do anything intensely, it'll get
[20:20] you there.
[20:23] Just anything.
[20:26] If you can maintain the intensity of
[20:29] your purpose
[20:31] and simply do whatever,
[20:34] it'll happen.
[20:36] Because it's as simple
[20:40] as catching a flu.
[20:43] And as dicey as catching a flu.
[20:49] You never catch a flu when you want it.
[20:53] When you don't want it, it happens to
[20:55] you.
[21:01] When you prayed for it, it did not come.
[21:05] When you took all the care not to get
[21:06] it,
[21:08] it happened.
[21:13] So,
[21:16] why is it
[21:18] something that is so powerfully present
[21:21] in every atom
[21:23] >> [clears throat]
[21:24] >> of this creation
[21:27] is completely missed?
[21:31] Whatever we call as culture,
[21:34] whatever we call as traditions,
[21:37] whatever we today unfortunately call as
[21:40] religion
[21:42] is just imitation.
[21:46] No matter what you do,
[21:50] the moment you employ your mind to do
[21:52] something, you are in a some state of
[21:55] imitation.
[21:57] Either imitating your neighbor
[21:59] or your priest or your pundit
[22:03] or maybe some other creature
[22:05] that you have seen either in the zoo or
[22:07] in the forest.
[22:10] But the moment you employ your mind, you
[22:13] are in a state of imitation
[22:15] because
[22:17] mind is functioning from whatever
[22:20] it has gathered.
[22:25] And hence so much talk about
[22:34] going beyond the mind,
[22:37] which is so hugely misunderstood around
[22:39] the world.
[22:43] Any number of things have been said
[22:46] when a certain
[22:50] living possibility was alive.
[22:53] When a certain living master was alive,
[22:55] he said certain things. In his presence,
[22:58] it was 100% true.
[23:02] The moment he is gone,
[23:04] without that fire, if you repeat the
[23:07] words,
[23:09] they are not true anymore.
[23:13] Now you know that famous anal hug,
[23:17] when Mansoor said anal hug, that means I
[23:21] am the truth.
[23:26] He was skinned alive
[23:29] by the people
[23:32] and later on stoned to death.
[23:35] If you go about on the streets and say I
[23:37] am the truth,
[23:39] nobody is going to do anything to you.
[23:44] You're safe
[23:46] because there is no that kind of fire in
[23:48] those words.
[23:50] It is just a repetition.
[23:52] Same words,
[23:55] same words, but there is no necessary
[23:57] fire in it.
[24:01] There is no truth in the word.
[24:04] There is truth in the one who utters it.
[24:08] So all methods, whatever they have been
[24:11] given at a certain time,
[24:14] were absolutely absolutely true and
[24:17] relevant.
[24:19] At that moment, it was true and it
[24:21] worked.
[24:23] Now,
[24:25] in a space which doesn't have the same
[24:27] energy, in a space which doesn't have
[24:30] the same fire,
[24:32] in a space which doesn't have the same
[24:34] intensity,
[24:36] if you utter the same words,
[24:38] they will just flop.
[24:41] Just like mop cloth, you throw it at
[24:43] people, nothing happens.
[24:46] So, all these
[24:48] spiritual teachings, methods,
[24:52] devices,
[24:55] which were employed
[24:58] by different masters at different times,
[25:02] it would be best
[25:05] if they were not available to larger
[25:08] masses,
[25:11] because it doesn't serve any purpose
[25:14] other than misunderstanding and twisting
[25:16] yourself out of proportion.
[25:19] Whatever very simple teachings, like uh
[25:23] because we are here,
[25:25] like Jesus, whatever he said.
[25:29] Very powerful words.
[25:33] It did transform people who came in
[25:35] touch with him.
[25:37] But what a mess has been created with
[25:39] those words over 2,000 years. What a
[25:42] mess.
[25:45] Simply because people who are not in any
[25:48] kind of experience repeat the same
[25:49] words.
[25:52] People who do not have the same
[25:57] fire burning within them are uttering
[25:59] the same words.
[26:02] Priests and pundits
[26:05] are repeating it and chanting it and
[26:07] making it more and more meaningless and
[26:09] ridiculous.
[26:11] And they themselves realize this is
[26:13] ridiculous and then they start modifying
[26:15] it.
[26:18] Yes.
[26:20] They start modifying it because they
[26:23] themselves can see this is nonsensical
[26:25] stuff.
[26:26] Whatever this guy spoke,
[26:30] it is not nonsensical.
[26:32] It like a miracle at that moment.
[26:37] Because even if he did not utter any
[26:40] words, still it would have worked.
[26:44] Words were just an excuse.
[26:47] Even if he had not said anything, it
[26:49] would have still worked.
[26:55] So, what is burning within you is more
[26:58] important than what you're doing and
[27:00] what you're saying.
[27:04] The devices, any number of devices that
[27:07] we may offer to you,
[27:08] you must understand they are designed
[27:12] essentially to wear down your defenses
[27:16] so that you can catch the flu.
[27:20] Because
[27:21] the infection is welling from every atom
[27:24] in the existence.
[27:27] You can't miss it unless you're really a
[27:29] wall.
[27:32] You can't miss it.
[27:35] Nobody can miss it.
[27:37] Because it's not in any one place.
[27:41] If it is hiding in one place, you
[27:43] searched everywhere and you missed it.
[27:47] When it is in everything that can be and
[27:50] cannot be,
[27:53] how can you miss it?
[27:56] But
[27:58] now the problem is just that.
[28:01] We are so engrossed
[28:07] with the little entertainment that is
[28:09] happening in our own minds.
[28:13] Your thought process
[28:15] is you cannot even make a 30-minute
[28:18] movie out of it.
[28:22] Yes or no?
[28:27] Maybe a 3-minute.
[28:30] Possible. You try to make a You just sit
[28:33] down here and try to build one cinema,
[28:36] 30-minute interesting cinema in your
[28:39] mind with all the aspects of it. Just
[28:41] see.
[28:43] You won't make it, most of you.
[28:47] Only a few minds can make it, isn't it?
[28:51] Because
[28:53] it is so scattered.
[28:55] It is so unfocused
[28:58] and it is so purposeless.
[29:01] And it is not coming from any particular
[29:04] basis. It is just things bouncing off
[29:07] your mind, just like that.
[29:11] Why are we paying so much attention to
[29:13] that?
[29:15] Why is it so important? Something that
[29:18] is so scattered and so messy
[29:21] and so purposeless
[29:25] and
[29:26] of really no consequence either to you
[29:29] or to anybody in the world.
[29:33] That you cannot even meditate.
[29:35] You're worried what your mind is saying.
[29:38] Let it say whatever the damn thing it
[29:40] wants to say. What is the problem?
[29:50] That is why I told you you must pick
[29:52] someone that you do not like and be with
[29:54] them because then you'll learn to ignore
[29:56] the other person.
[30:01] Similarly, if you learn to ignore
[30:04] the nonsensical activity of your mind
[30:08] then you will see in every cell in your
[30:11] body it is constantly welling up. Nobody
[30:14] can hold it down.
[30:16] Only because it's on, you are on,
[30:20] everything is on.
[30:23] If it withdraws, everything will
[30:24] collapse into itself.
[30:28] It's all kept up.
[30:31] I think an appropriate
[30:34] description of the existence comes from
[30:37] the East.
[30:39] In India, we always say
[30:42] this is a divine play.
[30:44] This is a divine dance.
[30:47] The whole creation
[30:49] is the play.
[30:52] Now you have a hard you're having a hard
[30:54] time with your life
[30:56] and you wonder what kind of play is
[30:59] this.
[31:00] Please play with somebody else.
[31:14] They're calling it a divine play.
[31:17] Not in terms of your life situations,
[31:20] but in the very way life is happening
[31:22] right now. The essential nature of life
[31:27] from the subatomic
[31:30] or even beyond that
[31:32] >> [snorts]
[31:33] >> is just all happening
[31:35] because of that one fundamental energy,
[31:38] which is keeping everything up.
[31:41] If it withdraws, everything will
[31:43] collapse into itself.
[31:44] Today, there is scientific evidence to
[31:47] tell you
[31:49] that
[31:50] there can be a whole galaxy
[31:53] active and alive
[31:55] and tomorrow morning all of it can just
[31:57] collapse into itself and disappear and
[32:00] become one vast empty space.
[32:04] There is scientific evidence for this.
[32:09] And this is something that every
[32:13] realized being has always been saying
[32:16] that
[32:18] the play of the divine is on.
[32:21] When he chooses to withdraw, everything
[32:23] will just evaporate as if there never
[32:27] was anything.
[32:30] Without a trace.
[32:32] Without a footprint.
[32:36] When this existence
[32:39] just implodes into itself
[32:42] It will not leave a trace.
[32:45] There will be nothing to see that it was
[32:47] all there.
[32:50] Because it's so clean.
[32:55] It is so clean and perfect the process
[32:58] of creation. So perfect
[33:02] that you can ignore the creator.
[33:04] Only because it is so perfect you can
[33:06] ignore of the creator.
[33:08] If it had some imperfection,
[33:11] you had to call forth on the creator all
[33:13] the time. It is so perfect, we can
[33:16] ignore and deny the creator.
[33:21] I think
[33:25] the creator finds best compliment
[33:29] only when people stand up and deny his
[33:32] very existence.
[33:34] That means creation is truly perfect.
[33:38] People who are constantly looking up,
[33:42] calling forth for God, they believe
[33:44] creation is not good enough.
[33:46] Always he has to hold their hand and
[33:48] make them walk.
[33:50] But those people
[33:52] who have become
[33:54] confident with life
[33:55] and deny the very existence of the
[33:57] creator,
[33:59] they are paying the highest compliment
[34:01] because they are saying this creation is
[34:03] so perfect.
[34:06] We can forget the creator.
[34:08] We can ignore the creator. We can even
[34:12] vehemently deny his very presence.
[34:19] That's the best compliment
[34:21] that one can get.
[34:23] If you create something,
[34:25] if you create an organization, if you
[34:28] create a mechanism, if you create a
[34:29] system,
[34:31] if it doesn't need any of your
[34:32] interference,
[34:34] that means it's a perfect system.
[34:36] Listen.
[34:38] Every day you have to tinker with it,
[34:40] that is not a perfect system.
[34:43] Only when you are no more needed, but
[34:46] everything goes on just fine as you
[34:48] intended.
[34:49] That's a perfect system, isn't it?
[34:55] So, both in denial
[34:57] and in appreciation, you are still
[35:00] only complimenting
[35:03] the essence of creation.
[35:06] So, it doesn't matter
[35:09] whether you go this way or that way. The
[35:11] important thing is that you become
[35:13] conscious.
[35:15] You become conscious of how this is
[35:19] happening.
[35:24] If you do not become conscious,
[35:26] if you go as you come,
[35:32] it once happened.
[35:34] One man
[35:36] wanted to join
[35:38] a college, a university.
[35:42] But by mistake, he entered a mental
[35:44] asylum.
[35:47] After he filled in his papers,
[35:50] he realized that he's in a mental
[35:52] asylum.
[35:55] Then they said, "This is a mental
[35:56] asylum. This is not a college.
[35:59] You can go."
[36:02] He said, "What is the big difference?"
[36:08] What is the big difference?
[36:10] "I will stay here."
[36:13] So, the man in charge said, "There's one
[36:15] big difference.
[36:18] Here,
[36:19] unless you show improvement, you won't
[36:22] get out.
[36:23] >> [laughter]
[36:26] >> There, you can get in and get out
[36:28] getting worse
[36:30] many times. Here, it's not like that.
[36:32] Unless you show improvement, you don't
[36:34] get out of this place.
[36:36] That's a big difference."
[36:43] So, with the life process
[36:46] you can get in and get out.
[36:48] Not getting any better.
[36:51] Not showing any improvement.
[36:53] In fact, doing worse
[36:55] than you were.
[36:58] Most people are doing worse than they
[37:00] were in the first quarter of their life,
[37:02] isn't it?
[37:04] Isn't it so?
[37:09] Lot of people are aspiring.
[37:13] Even many so-called gurus are saying,
[37:16] "I want to become a child."
[37:25] What does being a child mean?
[37:31] A certain level of incapability in body.
[37:34] A certain level of incapability in mind.
[37:38] Yes? That's a child.
[37:43] "I want to be a child because you find a
[37:46] child seems to be little more joyful
[37:48] than you."
[37:50] So,
[37:52] people are aspiring, "I must become a
[37:54] child once again." Even the so-called
[37:57] gurus are saying, "I want to become a
[37:58] child."
[38:00] Suppose you were 6 years of age
[38:03] and in body and mind you stopped
[38:05] growing.
[38:06] Or at least in mind you stopped growing.
[38:11] You may be all your life hee hee hee hee
[38:13] hee.
[38:14] >> [laughter]
[38:16] >> Do you want to become that?
[38:19] If you become like that, we will not
[38:21] call you enlightened or evolved. We will
[38:24] say you are a
[38:32] If such a thing happens to a human
[38:34] being,
[38:35] such a human being is treated with
[38:37] compassion and care and support.
[38:40] That is not something that anybody
[38:42] aspires for.
[38:47] >> [clears throat]
[38:48] >> In case it happens
[38:50] to anybody, always such a being we treat
[38:53] them with extra care, extra compassion,
[38:56] extra support in everything that we do.
[39:00] Because for
[39:02] some reason
[39:05] life has stopped progressing and
[39:08] become constant.
[39:11] But who would aspire for something like
[39:13] that?
[39:15] Only somebody who doesn't know does not
[39:18] know how to handle the evolved nature of
[39:21] his mind
[39:23] and his mind has become a torture
[39:25] instead of being a miracle.
[39:27] Now you will
[39:30] wish
[39:31] if I didn't have this.
[39:34] If I was a dodo,
[39:38] I would be better off.
[39:43] When I went to Mauritius Islands,
[39:45] you heard of Mauritius Islands?
[39:48] This is a place where the bird dodo
[39:50] comes from.
[39:52] Then I said I want to see.
[39:54] They said no, we killed all of them.
[39:57] What? I asked, don't you have one even
[39:59] in a zoo?
[40:00] At least in a cage? They said no, we
[40:02] killed all of them.
[40:05] I said how did you manage that?
[40:08] They said the birds were so dumb
[40:11] that you could walk up to them and beat
[40:13] them down with a stick.
[40:15] They never took off. They never ran.
[40:18] They just stood there and we hit them
[40:20] down and we ate them up.
[40:27] Then I said such a helpless creature.
[40:31] So defenseless. Maybe spiritual he was.
[40:35] >> [laughter]
[40:39] >> Even if you beat him,
[40:41] he did not even defend himself, nor did
[40:43] he try to escape.
[40:46] You know, Jesus told you if somebody
[40:48] slaps you on one cheek, show him the
[40:50] other one.
[40:52] Maybe they were like that and you guys
[40:55] didn't leave one of them
[40:57] at least for me to see.
[41:00] >> [laughter]
[41:04] >> And in some way their brains might have
[41:07] infected you, too.
[41:13] Because you ate their body, brain,
[41:14] everything. You never know.
[41:20] So,
[41:26] to be spiritual is not an effort.
[41:34] To be conscious is not an effort.
[41:38] Oh, Sadhguru, that's an insult.
[41:42] You gave us all this Sadhana with how
[41:44] much effort I've been doing it and now
[41:46] you say it's not an effort.
[41:49] Do you know what it takes to get up at
[41:51] 5:30 in the morning and
[42:00] >> [clears throat]
[42:00] >> It doesn't take any effort to catch flu,
[42:03] isn't it?
[42:06] Hm?
[42:07] It doesn't take any effort.
[42:10] It is just that at a certain moment
[42:12] when you did not uh protect yourself
[42:16] with what is that? Airborne, isn't it?
[42:19] >> [laughter]
[42:21] >> Does it really protect us?
[42:24] Whatever.
[42:25] On a certain at a certain moment, at a
[42:27] certain on a certain day, when you did
[42:30] not protect yourself,
[42:31] you got it.
[42:34] That's all you need to do.
[42:36] If you allow one moment here
[42:39] where you don't protect yourself, you
[42:41] become vulnerable to me. I'll give you
[42:43] the flu.
[42:46] It doesn't take anything else. No great
[42:48] methods and miracles.
[42:51] No great effort.
[42:52] just for one moment make yourself
[42:55] completely vulnerable, unprotected.
[42:59] Naked of all
[43:02] defense mechanisms,
[43:04] simply
[43:07] being here
[43:08] will give you the infection.
[43:11] You cannot escape it
[43:14] because
[43:16] this is not like the flu virus
[43:22] that it has to go from one place to
[43:24] another. This is everywhere. You just
[43:27] have to catch it.
[43:30] Or rather
[43:32] you just have to let it grip you from
[43:34] inside.
[43:38] There is nothing to be done about it.
[43:40] All the doing
[43:42] is only to bring you
[43:44] to a state where you become defenseless.
[43:49] If that sense of simple vulnerability is
[43:52] there,
[43:53] there's really nothing to do.
[43:57] You could enjoy the trip.
