[0:00] The sixth scene mirror of relationship
[0:03] uh is a mirror that has a rather ominous
[0:05] name. The ancients call it the dark
[0:07] knight of the soul. And and clearly the
[0:10] mirror does not have to be as ominous as
[0:12] its namesake. [music]
[0:13] Through the dark knight of the soul
[0:16] uh we are reminded that life has
[0:19] propensity [music] toward balance.
[0:22] Nature has a propensity toward balance
[0:26] and that it takes [music] an extremely
[0:29] skillful, masterful being to upset the
[0:32] balance in [music] nature and to upset
[0:33] the balance in our lives. When we find
[0:36] ourselves in the greatest challenges of
[0:38] life, it is in those moments that we may
[0:41] be assured the only way, the only way
[0:43] those challenges are possible is after
[0:46] we have amassed each tool that will
[0:50] allow us to move through that challenge
[0:52] with grace [music] and with ease. That's
[0:54] the only way it can happen. Until those
[0:56] tools are amassed, we will never see
[0:59] ourselves in the situations that ask
[1:02] [music] us to demonstrate these high
[1:03] levels of mastery.
[1:05] So from this perspective,
[1:08] the greatest challenges of life, those
[1:11] of relationship, perhaps our very
[1:12] survival may be viewed as [music]
[1:15] tremendous opportunities to demonstrate
[1:18] mastery rather than tests that may be
[1:21] passed or failed in life. And it's
[1:24] through this mirror of the dark night of
[1:25] the soul that we see ourselves naked,
[1:29] perhaps for the first time without the
[1:32] emotion and the [music] feeling and the
[1:36] thought of all of the constructs that
[1:38] we've created around us that we [music]
[1:40] believe keep us safe in life. And it is
[1:43] through this dark night of the soul
[1:45] perhaps for the first time we have the
[1:47] opportunity to see ourselves [music]
[1:49] in that way and to prove to ourselves to
[1:52] demonstrate [music] to ourselves that
[1:55] the process of life may be trusted and
[1:57] that we may trust ourselves in [music]
[1:59] life. Out of the soul is um
[2:04] is an opportunity
[2:06] for us [music] to lose
[2:09] everything that we've ever held dear in
[2:11] our lives.
[2:12] and to see ourselves in the presence
[2:15] [music] in the nakedness of that
[2:16] nothing.
[2:18] And as we climb out of the abyss that is
[2:21] [music] left from everything that we've
[2:24] lost and we see ourselves in a new way,
[2:27] that is where we find our highest levels
[2:29] of mastery. The ancients talk about the
[2:31] dark night of the soul very clearly. Had
[2:33] a a client that came to me when I was
[2:35] working in the Bay Area. He was a
[2:37] software engineer, a brilliant software
[2:39] engineer, young gentleman. He was
[2:41] married, had a wife and two children,
[2:43] two daughters, and he loved them all
[2:45] very much. And in his software
[2:49] environment, his skills were in such
[2:50] demand [music] that pretty soon he began
[2:52] traveling tremendously.
[2:54] Uh, first he was going to [music]
[2:56] technical sites and he began doing trade
[2:58] shows, uh, tech support at trade shows.
[3:02] He saw less and less of his family and
[3:04] the few times he did see his family, he
[3:05] felt like he didn't know them. There was
[3:07] little to talk about on the weekends, he
[3:09] didn't know what his kids were doing in
[3:10] school. his wife and he uh their
[3:12] communication was was uh lacking
[3:16] um into his department. The company
[3:19] moved another engineer and it was a
[3:21] woman from Los Angeles, same age. They
[3:24] began sending them as a team to these
[3:27] different programs and it wasn't, you
[3:29] see where this [music] is going, it
[3:30] wasn't long before he believed that he
[3:32] was in love with this woman and she
[3:34] believed that she was in love with him.
[3:36] uh she applied for a transfer back to
[3:39] her home office in Los Angeles.
[3:42] He did the [music] same thing from San
[3:43] Francisco and was given a job in LA. His
[3:46] uh his department was very upset [music]
[3:48] with him. His friends thought he was
[3:49] just out of his mind. Uh his family was
[3:53] devastated and he said, [music] "Well,
[3:54] you know, I'm sorry that I've hurt these
[3:56] people and that's okay. I'm off to my
[3:57] new life." So he went to to [music] Los
[4:00] Angeles and they were down there about 3
[4:02] weeks and the woman came home one day
[4:04] and said, 'You know, this is the
[4:05] relationship I thought it was going to
[4:06] be. I'd like to end it. He was
[4:09] devastated. [music]
[4:10] What universal fear did did he just get
[4:12] get lit up? He was devastated [music]
[4:14] when she when she asked him to leave. He
[4:17] began performing poorly at work and he
[4:20] was put on probation and he he didn't
[4:21] didn't get any better. The company asked
[4:23] him to leave and he found himself in a
[4:26] strange city. No friends, no [music]
[4:28] support system, no income, no job. He
[4:31] was blacklisted from other um other
[4:34] departments in [music] a similar
[4:35] industry and he had nowhere to return to
[4:38] because all the things he had held most
[4:39] dear he had given away. His uh
[4:42] department [music] didn't want him back.
[4:44] His family wasn't there for him, his
[4:45] friends. And he came to me in the Bay
[4:48] Area and said, "What in the [music]
[4:50] world has happened in my life? how do I
[4:51] get my family back? And I said to him in
[4:54] all sincerity, [music] "Congratulations,
[4:57] because the only way something like this
[5:00] [music] can happen in your life is when
[5:02] you've attained the highest levels of
[5:04] mastery."
[5:06] And in that mastery,
[5:09] when the last piece of the mastery is
[5:11] put in place, that's the opening in
[5:13] creation that says, [music] "Now
[5:16] this gentleman is ready to demonstrate
[5:19] this level of mastery over whatever it
[5:21] is that he's created in [music] his
[5:22] life." When life looks the worst, when
[5:26] we're faced with the greatest challenges
[5:28] of health or relationship or survival,
[5:32] what I know is the only way, it is only
[5:34] possible, we are only possible of
[5:37] creating those situations [music] for
[5:38] ourselves
[5:40] after we have amassed all the tools
[5:43] required to gracefully see us through
[5:46] that experience. And and your mom knew
[5:48] [music] this and she always told you.
[5:49] She said your she said God never gives
[5:51] you more than you can than you can
[5:52] handle. [music] Did your mom ever tell
[5:53] you that God never puts more on your
[5:55] plate than you can handle?
[5:57] And I've seen this happen time and time
[6:00] and time again. Issues of health,
[6:02] life-threatening [music] illnesses, uh
[6:04] emotional uh uh implosions, for lack of
[6:08] a better word. And what I know is this
[6:10] that [music] there is a propensity for
[6:12] balance in our lives. We have a tendency
[6:15] toward balance and we [music] have to
[6:17] work very very hard to upset balance.
[6:20] And as masters, [music] we all know ways
[6:22] to do that. As masters, we have
[6:25] developed ways [music] to create
[6:26] tremendous imbalances in our lives. And
[6:29] in the imbalance, that's the impetus for
[6:31] [music] us to demonstrate the level of
[6:33] mastery that we've attained. We're
[6:36] offered an opportunity for [music] which
[6:38] we have no point of reference, no one to
[6:41] ask, no one to go to. We've never had
[6:43] the experience [music] before.
[6:45] And in that no point of reference, all
[6:47] we have is ourselves. The forces at play
[6:51] in [music] our polarized world are
[6:54] forces that have chosen to come to this
[6:58] world to anchor the polarized realities.
[7:02] But the light and the dark are in
[7:03] service to us so that we may know
[7:05] ourselves in [music] all ways. And the
[7:07] only way to anchor the light in the dark
[7:10] in this world is for a force or a field
[7:13] or a consciousness
[7:15] to hold those mirrors [music]
[7:17] for us
[7:20] as we view pre12th century [music]
[7:22] texts. I believe that the scenario
[7:24] unfolds very clearly
[7:26] uh as we're offered a story through uh
[7:30] through the metaphors of individuals.
[7:32] the individual of Archangel Mikael
[7:34] anchoring light. The metaphor of
[7:37] Archangel [music]
[7:38] Lucifer anchoring dark. Uh in uh pre12th
[7:42] [music] century texts, these metaphors
[7:45] are viewed as benevolent loving beings
[7:48] that have chosen to descend into our
[7:52] world [music] in service to us holding
[7:55] benign mirrors of experience so that we
[7:59] may find ourselves anywhere between
[8:02] those mirrors knowing ourselves in the
[8:04] presence of the lightest and the light
[8:06] and the darkest of the dark. In the old
[8:08] days when uh when I was a kid growing
[8:11] up, you know, 1950s, 1960s,
[8:15] resilience had a diff very very
[8:16] different meaning from what it has
[8:18] today. And in those days, uh it was
[8:21] essentially if you had a bad day, suck
[8:24] it up and get over it. You know, uh just
[8:26] just [music]
[8:27] man up is the term that um I used to
[8:30] hear from my friends and my family a
[8:32] lot. Man up. Of course, we wouldn't use
[8:35] that term so much today, but here here's
[8:38] the point. In the old days, the thinking
[8:41] of resilience was that you're going
[8:42] along in life until something throws you
[8:45] a curveball. And your ability to [music]
[8:48] recover from that curveball, your
[8:51] ability to get back to normal
[8:53] functioning. That was your level of
[8:55] resilience. Well, that's one way of
[8:57] thinking about resilience. There's
[8:59] another way, and this is what my course
[9:00] is based on. It's what I'm going to talk
[9:02] to you about today.
[9:04] The Stockholm Resilience Institute is
[9:06] pioneering the the research and the
[9:09] practical applications [music] for a
[9:11] kind of resilience that's called
[9:13] adaptive resilience. And it is just what
[9:16] it sounds like it is. In adaptive
[9:19] resilience here, here's the difference
[9:21] between adaptive resilience and
[9:23] traditional resilience. [music] In
[9:25] adaptive resilience, we are honest with
[9:29] ourselves and we truthfully acknowledge
[9:33] that the world that we're living in for
[9:36] whatever reason. The circumstances have
[9:38] changed. We're not judging them as
[9:41] right, wrong, good, or bad. We're not
[9:42] talking about who's causing what or,
[9:46] [music] you know, what the outcomes are
[9:47] going to be. All we're saying in
[9:48] adaptive resilience is that this is no
[9:52] longer business as [music] usual. And
[9:55] because we acknowledge it's no longer
[9:57] business as usual, it makes sense to
[10:01] take the steps to [music] uh to provide
[10:05] what is called spare capacity [music] in
[10:08] uh the principles of resilience. So the
[10:10] the first principle of resilience
[10:12] whether it's personal resilience or
[10:14] whether it's community resilience or
[10:17] social resilience, [music] it is the
[10:19] principle of spare capacity. Spare
[10:21] capacity simply means that you recognize
[10:24] it's very possible, maybe even probable
[10:28] that the things that are available to
[10:30] you on a daily basis typically [music]
[10:32] may not be available. And it's an
[10:35] opportunity for you and your community,
[10:37] your friends, your family, [music] uh to
[10:40] determine what it is that's important to
[10:42] you and to make provisions. [music] say
[10:45] if we cannot have these things uh when
[10:49] we need them, how how is life without
[10:52] these things and what is it that what
[10:54] are the showstoppers in our lives? You
[10:56] know, food, water, electricity,
[10:58] medicine, things like that. Those are
[10:59] considered showstoppers. And what can we
[11:02] do to fortify our homes? What can we do
[11:05] to fortify our families in the event
[11:08] that the things that we need on a daily
[11:11] basis are not available? That is a
[11:13] perfect example of adaptive resilience.
[11:16] Now, here's the reason I'm sharing this
[11:18] with you. You and I are living in a time
[11:20] of extremes. Man, that's no secret to
[11:22] you. It's no secret to me. We've talked
[11:24] about this for [music] years. This is
[11:27] anything but business as usual right
[11:29] now. And I'm emphasizing this because I
[11:32] have friends, I have business
[11:34] associates, I have family members
[11:37] who are reluctant to acknowledge that
[11:40] this is a time of extremes. [music] They
[11:42] are reluctant to acknowledge that this
[11:44] is anything other than business as usual
[11:47] because it's painful to do so. We don't
[11:50] want to go there. Nobody does. I don't
[11:51] want to go there either. I would love
[11:53] for for the world to be the world, you
[11:55] know, precoid in for my business, for my
[11:58] planning, for my events. It's not
[12:01] honest. I'm not being honest with myself
[12:03] or [music] with my community if if I say
[12:05] that all of us are being tested uh
[12:09] spiritually right [music] now. And I
[12:12] know that means different things to
[12:13] different people. Spiritual resilience
[12:17] has uh it begins with the way that we
[12:20] think of ourselves. Our relationship to
[12:22] the world around us, our relationship to
[12:25] other people, our relationship to our
[12:27] own bodies, our relationship to the
[12:30] cosmos, to a higher power, our
[12:32] relationship to time, to the past, to
[12:34] the future. All of those are part of our
[12:37] [music] our spiritual resilience. And
[12:39] what I I find so interesting about
[12:41] [music] this, this is one of those
[12:43] beautiful places where science
[12:46] and spirituality come together. They
[12:49] cross the traditional boundaries uh that
[12:52] have have separated science and
[12:54] spirituality in the past. So the the the
[12:57] best [music] wisdom of our most ancient
[13:00] and cherished spiritual traditions have
[13:02] offered techniques. Now the science is
[13:05] telling us why those techniques work.
[13:06] And I know Bruce is going to talk about
[13:07] some of this as as well in a cellular
[13:09] level. [music] So when we talk about
[13:12] resilience, now I'm going to use a word
[13:14] and then I'll I'll define this word.
[13:16] When we talk about spiritual resilience,
[13:18] what we're really talking about is our
[13:21] divinity. And for some people that uh
[13:24] word means religion. And I I can see why
[13:28] it would because there are schools of
[13:30] divinity teaching uh religious
[13:32] traditions. But this is this is
[13:34] fascinating to [music] me, Liz. If you
[13:36] look up the definition of divinity, it
[13:40] simply says the ability to transcend
[13:44] perceived limitations. And that's it.
[13:48] Now, think about this. First, it's the
[13:49] ability to transcend. [music] So, we're
[13:52] not fighting against anything. We're
[13:54] becoming more than the conditions that
[13:57] we're being shown in the world.
[13:58] Transcend perceived. The perceived
[14:01] conditions, the conditions that we and
[14:04] limitations that we place upon
[14:06] ourselves, they may not even be real,
[14:07] but we perceive them as real through our
[14:10] programming and our filters, uh, from
[14:13] relationships and from education and
[14:16] childhood. So, divinity is our ability
[14:20] to be the best version of ourselves to
[14:22] create the best world possible. Now,
[14:25] people say, well, you know, give us some
[14:27] examples. What does that mean? Uh, I
[14:30] think many people know I'm a musician
[14:32] when I'm not doing this. And I had the
[14:33] opportunity to go to the Grammys a few
[14:35] years ago and speak with some of the
[14:37] musicians that were, you know, up for
[14:39] the awards. [music] And so I did a
[14:41] little experiment, the scientist that I
[14:43] am, and I wanted to ask these musicians,
[14:46] I said, when you wrote that amazing
[14:49] piece [music] of music or you wrote the
[14:52] lyrics to that magnificent song, I said,
[14:55] where did the music come from? Where did
[14:57] those lyrics come from? And to a tea,
[15:00] every single one of those musicians that
[15:02] I asked, they all gave me the same
[15:04] answer. They said it didn't come from
[15:08] me, it came through me. Our divinity is
[15:12] a part of us that is timeless. It is
[15:14] ageless. It's not contained in our
[15:16] bodies. We can't be separated from it.
[15:19] You can never be separated from it. This
[15:21] is where our deep intuition comes from.
[15:23] our direct knowing. These are the things
[15:25] that help us to navigate the world in in
[15:28] a a healthy way. So we cannot be
[15:31] separated
[15:32] but we [music] can deny our own divinity
[15:35] because we have free will. And I see
[15:37] people do this all the time. They
[15:39] believe that they are powerless victims
[15:41] of the world around them and that the
[15:43] world is their adversary. And you will
[15:46] see people going through life blaming
[15:48] everyone else for those things. That's
[15:50] that's one way to veil our divinity. Uh
[15:54] another way is our divinity can be
[15:57] programmed out of us through society.
[16:00] The teachings what our parents the way
[16:02] our parents help us to think of
[16:04] ourselves Liz and and the way our our
[16:06] friends and our family and our society
[16:08] and our culture and our nation and our
[16:11] planet and our science and uh you know
[16:14] whatever the the religious teachings
[16:16] are. They can program us right out of
[16:19] our of our own divinity. And the last
[16:21] one, and this is up for everybody right
[16:23] now,
[16:25] technology can veil our relationship to
[16:29] our divinity. When we turn to the tools
[16:33] that have been made available to us and
[16:35] use them as crutches, then we are
[16:39] becoming enslaved by the technology. And
[16:42] there's a whole conversation we can have
[16:44] about that. Technology is not good, bad,
[16:46] right or wrong. It's how we apply it.
[16:48] And we apply it based on our story, the
[16:50] way we have been taught to think of
[16:52] ourselves. So [snorts] all of these are
[16:54] up for us right now. We are living in a
[16:58] time and uh both Bruce and I have been
[17:00] traveling internationally. Well, and
[17:01] Anita has as well. I think we've all
[17:03] been traveling internationally. So what
[17:05] I'm saying is true for our global
[17:08] family. It's not just America [music] or
[17:10] it's not just Europe or it's not just
[17:12] Texas. It is the whole world that is
[17:15] [music] is experiencing this. So I want
[17:17] to offer a really really powerful tool.
[17:20] Your your divinity. How do [music] you
[17:22] know when your divinity is being tested?
[17:25] And I'm going to give you a little
[17:26] litmus test. When you are inundated with
[17:30] information in social media that
[17:34] triggers a feeling inside of you or a
[17:37] response that betrays your truest
[17:41] nature. When you become something that
[17:44] you are not in the presence of the
[17:47] information that has come to you, that
[17:50] is a a a very clear sign that you are
[17:54] giving away your divinity to to
[17:57] something else. And we all know there's
[17:59] a battle of good and evil playing out in
[18:00] the world. That's no secret. It's been
[18:02] going on for, you know, since the
[18:04] beginning of time. Every once in a
[18:06] while, that battle raises its head
[18:07] [music] in uh in more apparent ways, and
[18:10] we're seeing that. And so when we allow
[18:12] ourselves to be divided as families
[18:16] [music] and divided as communities and
[18:19] societies and nations through
[18:21] misinformation and disinformation,
[18:23] that's us giving away our divinity. So
[18:25] I'm going to invite people I'm going to
[18:27] stop here in just a minute, but I I want
[18:30] people to be aware [music] that it's not
[18:33] so much about
[18:36] how we respond to what's happening. It's
[18:39] [music] more about what we become in our
[18:43] response. What does that response make
[18:46] us into? We're all going to get through
[18:48] this time. We're going to get through
[18:49] it. The key is on spiritual resilience.
[18:52] for spiritual resilience. Do we get
[18:54] through it [music]
[18:56] in a healthy way by awakening the best
[19:00] version of ourselves or we do we succumb
[19:03] to the lowest common denominator and the
[19:05] primal response that is being triggered
[19:08] intentionally through the [music] media
[19:10] that wants to divide us? And I think
[19:12] this is up for everybody right now, Liz.
[19:14] And uh and I just want people to [music]
[19:16] just go through your day. Every moment
[19:18] of every day, we choose to either affirm
[19:23] or deny life in in our [music] bodies
[19:27] through the way we think, the way we
[19:29] address one another, the way we allow
[19:30] other people to address us, how we
[19:32] nourish our bodies, what we do, the
[19:36] information that we take in. So, here's
[19:38] here's the homework for everybody right
[19:39] now. Check the information. Check the
[19:44] the information that's coming to you and
[19:47] that you allow to come in into your life
[19:49] and ask yourself, am I choosing life? Is
[19:53] this the best the highest form of food
[19:55] and nutrition that I can have? Is this
[19:57] the highest response that I have to the
[20:01] person [music] or the people that are
[20:03] are triggering me to my family members
[20:05] who are having deep conversations and
[20:07] very different [music] ideas. All of
[20:09] these are facets of spiritual
[20:11] resilience. You hear a lot about all the
[20:13] other resilience. You don't often hear
[20:15] about spiritual resilience. And that's
[20:17] why I wanted to bring this up and uh and
[20:19] talk about it. The new discoveries are
[20:21] telling us that we are literally wired
[20:23] to thrive, not just survive. We are
[20:26] wired to thrive in times of extremes
[20:28] like no other form of life. We are the
[20:31] only form of life that is known to exist
[20:34] on Earth today that can consciously
[20:37] selfregulate
[20:39] our own biology at will on demand. What
[20:44] that means is that we're the only form
[20:46] of life that we know of today on Earth
[20:48] that can consciously sit down in a
[20:50] moment in time and choose to feel, to
[20:55] think, to breathe in very precise ways.
[20:59] [music] We are mysterious beings of a
[21:01] mysterious origin of emotion and
[21:05] thoughts and imagination out pictured
[21:08] through this physical body. The beauty
[21:10] is you don't have to know any of it. You
[21:12] don't have to know any of that. But it
[21:15] helps if you're going to change the way
[21:17] you think about your body and your life
[21:21] in the world. If you need encouragement
[21:25] to say that I have what I need to get
[21:27] through this, it helps to see the new
[21:30] discoveries that reveal the astonishing
[21:34] magnificent beauty of what it means to
[21:37] be fully human. And once we really begin
[21:39] to get that, teach it to our kids in the
[21:42] schools, embrace it in the society that
[21:45] now is emerging more than ever, we're
[21:48] being asked, we're being challenged,
[21:50] what role does our body play in the
[21:53] presence [music] of what the world is
[21:54] showing us. And the new discoveries are
[21:56] giving us new ways to answer that. I
[21:58] can't think of a more exciting time to
[21:59] be alive. human resilience physically,
[22:03] emotionally, psychologically,
[22:06] spiritually, physiologically, and in our
[22:09] environment all come to play. And uh it
[22:12] is a beautiful place where all of this
[22:14] comes together in science, spirituality,
[22:17] and social policy. And I think we're
[22:18] living that place right now. It's all
[22:20] about love. When we love, not if, but
[22:24] when we love ourselves enough to give
[22:26] ourselves what we need to be at our
[22:29] best. So, we love ourselves enough to
[22:32] give our bodies what they need to do
[22:34] what they are made to do. And you know
[22:37] what this is? It's it's good nutrition.
[22:39] It's uh adequate sleep. It's movement.
[22:43] Uh it's the kinds of thought, feeling,
[22:46] and emotion that honor that honor these
[22:50] deep relationships we have with
[22:52] ourselves. When we love ourselves enough
[22:55] to give ourselves what we need, what we
[22:57] find is that we thrive, not just
[23:01] survive, [music] but we thrive in the
[23:03] presence. We live our lives based upon
[23:06] the way [music] we have been taught to
[23:07] think about ourselves. We live our lives
[23:10] based upon our story. We choose our
[23:13] relationships based upon our story. And
[23:15] I want people to think about this. Every
[23:17] person that's in [music] your life right
[23:18] now is based on your self-esteem, your
[23:22] sense of [music] self-worth, the way
[23:23] you've been taught to think about your
[23:25] relationship to other people and worry.
[23:28] So, the people that you invite into your
[23:30] life, the people that you invite into
[23:32] your home, and we're all adults here,
[23:34] and this is important. The people you
[23:35] invite into your bed, your most intimate
[23:37] relationships
[23:38] are all based upon your story, [music]
[23:40] the way you've been taught to think
[23:42] about yourself. We heal our bodies based
[23:45] upon our story. when we go to a [music]
[23:48] a medical professional or a a holistic
[23:52] uh professional and they say that
[23:54] something is happening with us [music]
[23:56] that may not be in our best interest,
[23:57] something in our body is happening that
[24:00] may not be in our best interest. The way
[24:01] we respond to that information is based
[24:04] upon our story, our social policies, our
[24:09] world is changing. Boy, is it ever. My
[24:11] world is changing, your world is
[24:12] changing. Wherever you are in the world
[24:14] watching us, you are impacted by a
[24:16] change like we've never seen before. And
[24:19] the way that we respond to that change
[24:21] [music] is based upon our story, our
[24:23] social policies, the laws that we enact,
[24:26] policies that we embrace, the way we
[24:28] treat one another in our homes, in our
[24:31] communities, in our society, in our
[24:33] nation, and between nations. So all of a
[24:35] sudden you begin to see when we talk
[24:38] about our story rather than being
[24:40] academic on the back burner and and
[24:42] something [music] just interesting it's
[24:43] on the front burner for all of us. It's
[24:45] up for all of us. Nothing could be more
[24:47] [music] important. And this even covers
[24:50] the way that our body functions, [music]
[24:53] our response to contagions in the
[24:55] environment, our immune response, our
[24:57] longevity, our resilience, our
[24:59] intuition, all are based in the way that
[25:02] we access these things according to our
[25:06] story. And this is interesting because
[25:08] so the question is where we know where's
[25:09] our story come from? We [music] all have
[25:10] a story. We may not be consciously aware
[25:12] of it, but it's there. Story comes from
[25:15] our family. There is a battle playing
[25:17] out for our story right now [music]
[25:19] because the stakes have never been
[25:21] higher, Shaman. The stakes have never
[25:23] been higher. So for a whole number of
[25:26] reasons, we're living a time of
[25:28] extremes. We've talked about some of
[25:30] those. [music] We are living a rare
[25:32] convergence of cycles. Natural climate
[25:35] cycles are culminating right now along
[25:37] with natural rhythms of economic cycles,
[25:40] along with rhythms of conflict cycles.
[25:43] These cycles are known. They can be
[25:45] predicted. They can be measured. We've
[25:47] done this in other videos. I've written
[25:48] whole books about it. That's not what
[25:50] I'm going to talk to you about today.
[25:51] [music] But what I want to say is that
[25:53] we are living this convergence of
[25:55] cycles. And within this convergence,
[25:58] there are individuals, there are
[26:00] organizations that are capitalizing on
[26:04] the chaos of these cycles [music] by
[26:07] trying to impose additional change. So,
[26:10] this is like the World Economic Forum
[26:11] and the Great Reset that we've talked
[26:14] about in some of the other videos. It's
[26:15] no secret that the great great reset is
[26:18] is being attempted. Uh the United
[26:21] Nations is now in partnership. They have
[26:24] a signed document and a handshake that
[26:27] was broadcast publicly. I'm I'm not
[26:29] sharing any secrets here. uh that the UN
[26:32] will implement many of the ideas of the
[26:34] world economic forum through the
[26:37] sustainable development goals the 17
[26:39] sustainable development goals UN SDG
[26:42] 2030
[26:44] uh and I I will do another program on
[26:47] that specifically [music]
[26:48] exclusively and I don't want to cloud
[26:50] this conversation with that but the
[26:52] point is that in addition to the natural
[26:54] converging cycles the [music] the great
[26:58] reset and the the thinking
[27:01] uh of these sustainable development
[27:03] goals and many other things [music] are
[27:05] all contributing to make this anything
[27:09] other than business as usual. And this
[27:11] is where you're seeing we've got war
[27:12] happening now in Europe. We've got
[27:15] economic chaos, we've got financial
[27:17] breakdowns, we're we're losing uh the
[27:20] the world reserve currency. The US
[27:22] dollar is failing as a world reserve
[27:24] currency. Uh we know we're seeing all of
[27:26] these things happen. So what this means
[27:29] is that we need to shift our thinking.
[27:32] And I know that can be hard sometimes,
[27:35] but we need to shift our thinking to be
[27:37] honest with ourselves. And here's the
[27:38] reason why I'm sharing this with you.
[27:41] Because the suffering happens to the
[27:44] greatest degree when we're not ready for
[27:46] what's coming down the line. When
[27:48] [music] we stick our head in the sand,
[27:50] when we deny that we are in a changing
[27:52] world and when the changes when they
[27:55] impact our society, our community, our
[27:57] homes, our families, our schools, our
[27:59] businesses, if we're not ready for it,
[28:01] that is where the suffering comes from
[28:04] even though it may not be pleasant. If
[28:05] we can be ready for it, then we give
[28:08] ourselves this buffer. It's the buffer
[28:10] of spare [music] capacity. It means if
[28:12] the supply chains are cut off, we're not
[28:14] going [music] to to go hungry and our
[28:16] family's not going to go hungry. If big
[28:18] storms are happening and we have uh a
[28:22] weakened power grid and our power goes
[28:23] out, it means that we've got some kind
[28:26] of a backup. Well, here's the thing. I'm
[28:28] getting correspondence. People are just
[28:29] overwhelmed. They're saying, "We don't
[28:31] even know where to begin. We don't even
[28:33] know where to begin with this kind of
[28:35] stuff. Uh we're busy. We've got
[28:38] families. We've got jobs, multiple
[28:40] jobs." Many of our our viewers are are
[28:42] having multiple jobs, multiple streams
[28:44] of income. They need that. [music] and
[28:47] they're saying we don't even know where
[28:48] to begin. So what I want to do today is
[28:51] just talk to you. I put a little
[28:52] presentation together uh about some of
[28:55] these fundamental principles of spare
[28:58] spare capacity [music]
[29:00] that are related to our physical needs.
[29:04] All right, we've talked extensively and
[29:06] I will continue to talk about emotional
[29:09] resilience and psychological and mental
[29:12] and physiological resilience and
[29:14] heartbrain coherence and all of those
[29:16] [music] are important but I think the
[29:18] most important principle of resilience
[29:20] is to shift in the thinking because once
[29:23] you acknowledge to yourself that this is
[29:26] not business as usual that we're living
[29:28] uh a rare moment in the history of our
[29:31] civilization of our society of our gener
[29:34] generation. We haven't seen anything
[29:36] like this in 5,000 years of recorded
[29:38] human history. And many people are
[29:40] reluctant to embrace the fact that now
[29:43] is different. They want to they want to
[29:45] normalize it. Uh they want to normalize
[29:48] and say, well, you know, we always have
[29:50] economic problems and we've always got a
[29:52] war going on somewhere and and that is a
[29:55] coping mechanism and I totally get it.
[29:57] Uh I understand it. I have done this for
[30:00] myself because it's hard sometimes to
[30:02] see the world as it is today. What
[30:05] science now shows us is that every
[30:08] emotion that we have in our lives
[30:12] [music] produces a a chemistry in our
[30:14] bodies. That's no surprise. It makes
[30:15] sense intuitively. [music] But it wasn't
[30:17] until uh Candace Per, the author of the
[30:21] book Molecules of Emotion, [music] uh
[30:23] Harvard trained medical MD, she now has
[30:26] passed uh this world and and is in
[30:28] another world, but when she wrote the
[30:31] the book Molecules of Emotion, I had the
[30:33] honor, and I mentioned this in a
[30:35] previous Q&A, had the honor of knowing
[30:37] her through a common publisher,
[30:40] uh had some meals with her. we shared um
[30:44] conferences together and I had the
[30:45] opportunity to to get to talk to her a
[30:48] little bit and to understand on a deep
[30:50] level what it is that she was saying.
[30:52] And and the bottom line to what she was
[30:55] saying is that every emotion produces a
[30:58] chemistry in the body that now can be
[31:00] quantified through what are called
[31:02] neuropeptides.
[31:04] So the neuropeptides are there from the
[31:06] the greatest of joys to the deepest of
[31:08] sorrows. And and what a neuropeptide
[31:10] wants to do is to metabolize through the
[31:13] body and to be expelled in the ways that
[31:17] [music] we expel things through breath
[31:19] uh the vapor in the breath through tears
[31:23] uh through mucus through saliva through
[31:25] urine through feces uh all of these
[31:27] things
[31:29] as I mentioned in the previous program
[31:31] when we have the tools to deal with our
[31:35] emotions and specifically negative or
[31:38] difficult emotions or trauma. Uh when we
[31:42] don't have the [music] tools, that
[31:43] trauma, those chemicals can remain
[31:46] locked up in our bodies in ways that
[31:47] we're only really beginning to
[31:49] understand. It can be stored in the
[31:50] organs and tissues that we associate
[31:52] with the hurt and and with the trauma.
[31:55] I say this now as a little summary in
[31:57] case you didn't see the the previous
[32:00] video because we all have experienced uh
[32:03] some level of trauma in our loss. Some
[32:06] of it uh is greater than others. Some
[32:08] people have had multiple lo I can
[32:11] imagine the loss of multiple family
[32:12] members and the trauma that comes from
[32:14] that. As a society, we typically don't
[32:18] teach ourselves to uh to grieve in a way
[32:23] uh that is has any structure. [music]
[32:26] And what my mental health expert friends
[32:28] are telling me is is that the initial
[32:30] trauma, the stress is present now and
[32:33] people are dealing with it. But the
[32:35] poststress
[32:36] trauma, the unresolved trauma that's
[32:39] locked in our bodies isn't even [music]
[32:41] started to show up yet. And that we have
[32:44] the opportunity to head off the uh the
[32:47] health crisis that can come from this by
[32:52] doing precisely what Susan is
[32:54] recommending here. as individuals, as
[32:56] families, as communities, as a society,
[33:00] as a nation, as a planet, [music]
[33:02] allowing ourselves the opportunity to
[33:04] grieve. So, I'm sharing all of these
[33:07] discoveries because of yet an additional
[33:10] discovery that now links these brain
[33:13] states, the highest of the high and the
[33:16] lowest of the low. It links these brain
[33:18] states in a way that tells us even more
[33:21] about our relationship to the matrix.
[33:23] Scientists have recently discovered this
[33:25] very curious link [music] between the
[33:27] low of the epsilon, remember it goes
[33:29] from 0.5 herz all the way to zero, and
[33:32] the high of the lambda that goes all the
[33:34] way up to 200 cycles per second, 200
[33:36] hertz. As different as they are in
[33:38] frequency, this is so interesting.
[33:41] [music] They both allow for precisely
[33:44] the same state [music] of consciousness.
[33:47] Now, think about that. As different as
[33:49] they are from the highest state to the
[33:51] lowest state, different ways of getting
[33:54] there, they both bring us to precisely
[33:58] the same [music] state of consciousness.
[34:01] The one difference is that when we
[34:03] achieve the low state of consciousness
[34:06] [music] through the epsilon brain state,
[34:09] we achieve it through a very drowsy
[34:13] state that typically would allow us to
[34:17] facilitate [music] a a deep sleep. But
[34:19] when we access the state of
[34:21] consciousness through the very high
[34:22] state of lambda, we don't get drowsy. We
[34:25] go into this [music] state of
[34:27] consciousness in a very full and in a
[34:30] very awakened state. Now, for example,
[34:32] you may have seen videos or
[34:35] documentaries of um of monks meditating
[34:38] [music] in sub-zero temperatures, in the
[34:41] ice, in the snow, in the high elevations
[34:43] in Nepal or Tibet. When you see monks
[34:46] doing things like this, this is
[34:48] happening in this uh in this extended
[34:53] [music] brain state. Uh, and I've seen
[34:55] where not only are they they doing this,
[34:56] but they will will drench a cloth, a
[34:59] cotton or a linen cloth with water and
[35:02] wrap themselves, the loin [music] cloth,
[35:04] and wrap themselves in a wet cloth
[35:05] before going out into the sub-zero
[35:08] freezing [music] temperatures or sub
[35:09] freezing temperatures, sub-zero and
[35:11] subfreezing. And they will sit on the
[35:14] ground on the bare ground [music] where
[35:16] typically in subzero temperatures our
[35:19] our bodies the warmth of our bodies
[35:21] would create a layer of ice and it would
[35:23] freeze and we'd stick. That's not what
[35:25] happens to [music] these monks. They
[35:26] begin to self-regulate their body
[35:29] temperature and they self-regulate to
[35:31] the point where steam begins to come off
[35:33] of the the linen or the cotton claws and
[35:35] they they actually dry on the bodies of
[35:37] the monks. The monks regulate their
[35:40] temperature so that the cold is not a
[35:42] problem for them. So what is astounding
[35:44] is all of these discoveries sound right
[35:47] now. I want you to know that they don't
[35:49] end [music] with the lambda brain state.
[35:52] A new brain state now has been
[35:54] discovered. This one [music] it's on the
[35:57] other end of the spectrum. Remember we
[36:00] said that the delta brain state [music]
[36:01] was the long slow wave deep sleep no
[36:05] dreams.
[36:06] That's an extremely low brain state
[36:10] below delta that has recently been
[36:12] [music] discovered. Now listen to this.
[36:15] It begins at only 0.5 cycles per second,
[36:20] 1/2 of a hertz, and it ranges [music]
[36:23] downward to zero to nothing. It is
[36:28] possible for humans to engage in a brain
[36:31] state that brings the [music] brain
[36:33] activity down to a level of zero.
[36:36] Nothing is being emitted from the brain.
[36:39] The seemingly bizarre brain state, it's
[36:41] associated with what we would call
[36:43] suspended [music] animation. The monks
[36:46] are in this state. There's no detectable
[36:48] heartbeat. They cannot detect a pulse.
[36:51] There's no detectable breathing. Well, I
[36:53] want to tell you the monks are very much
[36:54] alive and they are very conscious within
[36:57] this state. Now, I'm sharing these
[37:00] discoveries with you. We're going
[37:01] somewhere with this because if you think
[37:03] about what I'm saying to you with regard
[37:06] to the brain states, think about what
[37:08] this means in terms of our conversation
[37:10] about the divine matrix. That matrix is
[37:13] a field of energy. And once again, I'm
[37:15] going to emphasize this again and again
[37:17] because we're so conditioned to think of
[37:19] ourselves in the field. It's not that
[37:22] we're in the field. We are the field.
[37:24] The field [music] is every atom of our
[37:27] bodies constantly emerging in these
[37:32] quantum pulses from this field. And our
[37:36] ability to interact with this field is
[37:38] determined by our heart and our brain
[37:40] state.
[37:41] >> [music]
[37:41] >> So, what I'm sharing with you are brain
[37:43] states that now give us access to places
[37:48] and experiences in this field in ways
[37:52] that [music] science has never
[37:53] recognized in the past. Now, I'm not
[37:55] saying that ancient indigenous peoples
[37:57] [music] didn't know this. Of course,
[37:58] they did. I mean, the monks have been
[37:59] doing this for at least 1500 years, but
[38:02] it has not been documented
[38:04] scientifically. So, I'm sharing all of
[38:06] these discoveries because of yet an
[38:09] additional discovery that now links
[38:12] these brain [music] states, the highest
[38:14] of the high and the lowest of the low.
[38:16] It links these brain states in a [music]
[38:19] way that tells us even more about our
[38:21] relationship to the matrix.
[38:23] Scientists have recently discovered this
[38:25] very curious link between the low of the
[38:27] epsilon, remember it goes from 0.5 hertz
[38:30] all the way to zero, and the high of the
[38:32] lambda that goes all the way up to 200
[38:34] cycles per second, 200 hertz. As
[38:37] different as they are in frequency, this
[38:39] is so interesting. They both allow for
[38:43] precisely the same [music] state of
[38:45] consciousness. Think about that. As
[38:48] different as they are from the highest
[38:50] state to the lowest state, different
[38:53] ways of getting there, they both bring
[38:56] us to precisely the same state of
[38:59] consciousness.
[39:00] The one difference is that when we
[39:03] achieve the low state of consciousness
[39:06] through the epsilon brain state, we
[39:09] achieve it through a very drowsy state
[39:14] that typically would allow us to
[39:16] facilitate a a deep sleep. But when we
[39:19] access the state of consciousness
[39:21] through the very high state of lambda,
[39:23] we don't get drowsy. We go into [music]
[39:26] this state of consciousness in a very
[39:28] full and in a very awakened state. My
[39:31] little friend Merlin, somebody said,
[39:32] "Well, what are you going to tell us?
[39:33] Whatever happened to Merlin? Where is
[39:35] Merlin?" And and I'll share that with
[39:37] you now because it um
[39:40] it's been a really powerful part of my
[39:42] life and um and it is very relevant uh
[39:46] to to make concrete these sometimes
[39:49] nebulous concepts [music] that we're
[39:50] we're describing here.
[39:52] Well, I got all the things I needed to
[39:54] take Merlin across country and Merlin
[39:55] and I had a great adventure [music] uh
[39:57] for a Mount Shasta all the way to
[40:00] northern New Mexico
[40:02] and [music] um
[40:04] uh we live about uh 6 milesi from the uh
[40:07] the Colorado border. So, we're in a very
[40:09] high mountainous area and uh and Merlin
[40:12] grew to be a very healthy, vigorous uh
[40:16] beautiful [music]
[40:17] uh large black male cat. uh not a speck
[40:20] of any other color on him. He was
[40:22] completely black. [music] And a very
[40:24] good friend, Merlin, if you've ever read
[40:25] the book Awakening the Zero Point. He
[40:28] was right there on the uh on the table
[40:29] with me as I [music] wrote each evening.
[40:31] And every once in a while, I get up and
[40:32] stretch and he'd walk across the
[40:34] keyboard and sometimes he'd type words
[40:36] that made sense and I'd have to read
[40:38] those. So, if you saw a lot of typos in
[40:39] that book, I like to say Merlin helped
[40:40] me with those.
[40:43] And uh and Merlin used to go out every
[40:44] single day. We'd let him out uh first
[40:46] thing in the morning and his his rule
[40:48] was he had to come back in by 1:00 in
[40:50] the afternoon. [music] And he did that
[40:51] for several years.
[40:53] There was one day Merlin went outside
[40:55] and he didn't come back.
[40:57] And
[40:58] >> [music]
[40:58] >> um at first I wasn't too concerned about
[41:00] that. I thought, well uh maybe it's just
[41:02] a kitty walkabout. You know, it's a male
[41:04] thing. He was going to explore this
[41:05] [music] this territory in in northern
[41:07] New Mexico. And by the time the second
[41:09] day rolled around, I was a little
[41:11] concerned and I really felt something
[41:12] [music] was was happening. By the third
[41:14] day, I knew something had gone wrong
[41:17] from my perspective at that time. And I
[41:19] stopped everything I was doing. I
[41:21] returned no phone calls, [music] no
[41:22] correspondents. I did no business. And
[41:24] for uh for five solid days, uh I invited
[41:29] friends in our valley. And [music] we
[41:31] looked for for Mr. Merlin everywhere. We
[41:33] looked in coyote dens, we looked in owl
[41:35] nests, we looked in badgers burrows
[41:38] where we could find them. We went
[41:40] [music] uh looked around eagles nests.
[41:43] uh down in in the valley. We there's
[41:46] 136,000 acres [music]
[41:48] of sage that borders our property owned
[41:50] by a Bureau of Land Management. It's
[41:53] fenced off and we'd walk from one end to
[41:55] the other and tie off a piece [music] of
[41:56] ribbon, take three steps over and walk
[41:58] back so we could scour every every foot
[42:02] of the fields. And after a few days, um
[42:06] I I really had this uh this feeling
[42:08] inside that something was terribly
[42:09] wrong. And I I [music] felt like he was
[42:11] alive and maybe he'd fallen into a well
[42:13] and needed some help or he was in an old
[42:15] abandoned building or he was in a
[42:16] hunter's trap or something had happened.
[42:18] [music] And one morning as I was laying
[42:20] in bed, uh the sun had not come up yet
[42:23] [music] and it was light. It was about
[42:24] to come up and I asked for a sign and I
[42:28] simply said, "Uh, father, I asked for
[42:30] the sign. Is my friend Merlin alive?
[42:32] Does he need me or or what's happened?"
[42:33] [music] And I didn't even get the
[42:36] sentence out of my mind. I hadn't even
[42:38] finished that [music] sentence yet. and
[42:39] something happened that had never
[42:40] happened before. It's never happened
[42:43] since.
[42:44] Uh from [music] 360°
[42:47] all around our property, I heard more
[42:50] coyotes yip and yell [music] and scream
[42:53] and cry broad daylight. And then as soon
[42:57] as they [music] uh just as suddenly as
[42:58] they began, they stopped. And I I knew
[43:00] in that moment that Merlin was no longer
[43:02] with me and uh and that [music] he'd
[43:05] been taken by a coyote.
[43:07] Well, I got up that morning, drove a
[43:09] truck down the road, and something very
[43:12] odd began to happen. There were coyotes
[43:14] everywhere in broad daylight. There were
[43:17] young [music] ones and old ones, and
[43:19] they were walking in twos and threes.
[43:20] They walked in the road, right in front
[43:21] of my truck. They were all over my
[43:23] property. Normally, you'd only see them
[43:25] uh maybe very early in the morning or at
[43:27] dusk. [music] You you typically not see
[43:29] them in broad daylight.
[43:31] And I had an opportunity in that moment.
[43:34] [music] Uh, and if it had happened
[43:37] another point in my life, I I may have
[43:38] been very angry at every coyote. I I may
[43:42] have [music] chosen to uh stand on top
[43:44] of one of my buildings and snipe each
[43:45] one and said, "Maybe you're the one that
[43:47] took my friend Merlin." And I didn't
[43:49] feel [music] that way. I I I didn't want
[43:53] the coyotes to lose their lives. I
[43:55] missed [music] my friend Merlin and his
[43:58] presence. I missed his life. And in
[44:02] [music] that choice of not being angry
[44:04] at those coyotes while still allowing
[44:06] for the emotion of [music] losing my
[44:08] friend, for me that was uh a powerful
[44:12] opportunity and an opening [music] into
[44:14] compassion,
[44:16] thought without attachment to the
[44:17] outcome, feeling without distortion,
[44:20] emotion without charge. It hurt me
[44:22] deeply. He was a very, very close
[44:23] friend. And I I share animal stories and
[44:26] maybe to some people they're kind of
[44:27] silly. And if you [music] have ever been
[44:30] alone in your life or um I've never had
[44:32] any children. Uh animals have
[44:34] essentially been children and have been
[44:36] powerful teachers to me. Really [music]
[44:37] powerful teachers. Please bear in mind
[44:40] that you're not what you've been told.
[44:41] You're much more than you've been led to
[44:43] believe. All kinds of information, my
[44:45] work and other people's work out there
[44:47] are telling you that in so many
[44:48] different ways. [music] It is all coming
[44:50] under this umbrella of your divinity,
[44:53] your ability to transcend perceived
[44:56] human limitations. And we begin to think
[45:00] and live from the perspective of our
[45:02] divinity. [music] And we we lose our
[45:06] fear. This is what breaks the bonds and
[45:09] the shackles of the fear that hold us
[45:11] captive [music] that keep us stuck in
[45:14] this this ancient cycle of fear and
[45:17] control. I don't know about you. I have
[45:21] thought about this a lot recently and
[45:23] we've talked about this. It's no
[45:24] ordinary time in the history [music] of
[45:26] our world. Certainly in the history of
[45:28] our civilization for many, many reasons.
[45:31] There's a new world emerging. That
[45:33] world's not here yet. And if you're
[45:34] living in this world right now, what
[45:37] that tells me is that you're here for
[45:39] this very show. You're here for the show
[45:41] [music] of the new world. It also tells
[45:44] me that you're probably thinking like I
[45:46] am in this [music] respect.
[45:48] In the new world that's emerging, we
[45:51] don't want to carry [music] the ancient
[45:53] hurt from the world that you and I have
[45:56] known in our lives. We don't want to
[45:58] carry the suffering. We don't want to
[46:01] carry [music] the hate into that new
[46:03] world. And for that hate and suffering
[46:06] and hurt [music] to stop, it takes one
[46:09] generation. One generation has [music]
[46:12] to heal the generational hurt that
[46:15] precedes us for hundreds and hundreds
[46:18] and hundreds of generations, thousands
[46:20] [music] of years. That is our
[46:23] opportunity right now. The only way that
[46:26] we can heal the generational hurt
[46:28] [music] and offer a new world to our
[46:31] children where they don't have to suffer
[46:35] and they don't have to succumb to the
[46:39] atrocities and the [music] distortions
[46:42] that have known created the world that
[46:43] that you and I have known. The only way
[46:45] to do that is for you and I to come to
[46:47] terms with that to heal it in our
[46:49] lifetimes. And so people tell me all the
[46:51] time, they say, "Well, I'm too old to
[46:53] have children, so it's, you know, I'm
[46:55] I'm not going to affect that next
[46:56] generation." Goes beyond that.
[46:58] Certainly,
[47:00] it is possible to heal generational fear
[47:03] biologically. So that when you conceive
[47:06] that the DNA is no longer predisposed to
[47:10] the the fear from the previous
[47:12] generation, that's epigenetics. [music]
[47:14] That's very well known. But even beyond
[47:16] that in the field energetically
[47:19] energetically when we heal [music] that
[47:21] hurt for ourselves and our families and
[47:24] our loved ones in our lives what we're
[47:26] doing is we're actually creating a
[47:29] balance [music] in resonance in the
[47:31] field so that the DNA the antenna of the
[47:34] DNA the antenna of the genes the antenna
[47:38] of the neurons in our heart and our
[47:40] brain those resonant antenna we're
[47:43] giving those antennas
[47:44] >> [music]
[47:44] >> something new to tune into that
[47:47] transcends the hurt and the suffering of
[47:50] the past. [music] And in this way, we
[47:52] have the opportunity to heal this
[47:54] generational hurt. We do this by
[47:58] accepting and embracing our divinity. So
[48:01] once again, nothing to do with religion
[48:03] has all to do with accepting the deep
[48:07] truth of our existence and [music] who
[48:08] we are, what it means to be fully human.
[48:11] And I think perhaps for the first time
[48:13] in a very long time, we're discovering
[48:15] that for ourselves, the question is, do
[48:18] we love ourselves enough? So when we
[48:21] talk about harmonizing the heart and the
[48:22] [music] brain, three very simple steps.
[48:25] The first step is to shift the awareness
[48:27] from the mind into the heart. And
[48:29] indigenous people typically will do this
[48:31] by simply touching their heart center in
[48:33] a way that is comfortable [music] for
[48:35] them because the awareness immediately
[48:37] goes to the place where you feel that
[48:38] touch. It's the first step. And then
[48:40] second step is they [music] will breathe
[48:41] a little bit slower. Slow typical
[48:44] breathing. And when we slow our
[48:46] breathing, we're sending a very powerful
[48:49] signal to [music] our body that we are
[48:50] safe. And when we feel safe, there's a
[48:53] little switch, an emotional switch that
[48:55] begins to send a different chemistry
[48:58] into the body from the brain, a
[48:59] lifeaffirming chemistry of healing and
[49:01] rejuvenation rather than the stress
[49:04] chemistry of fight or [music] flight.
[49:07] Second step. The third step
[49:10] is consciously and intentionally [music]
[49:12] feeling in a positive uplifting emotion
[49:15] because we choose to feel it. Maybe the
[49:16] world's not giving us anything to
[49:18] respond to but we choose to feel. And
[49:21] typically one or some combination of
[49:23] four emotions fill that function.
[49:25] [music] Gratitude, appreciation, care or
[49:28] compassion. One of those four typically
[49:31] will work for pretty much everyone. When
[49:34] we harmonize the heart in the brain, we
[49:36] are moving ourselves [music] out of the
[49:39] polarity thinking of the rightness or
[49:42] the wrongness of what has happened to us
[49:43] in the past. It is only [music] in the
[49:45] brain and we're bringing those heart
[49:48] neurons into the equation. A part of my
[49:51] blood heritage is uh [music]
[49:53] southeastern Cherokee from Oklahoma in
[49:56] the US. And there is a word for this
[49:59] heart focus that doesn't even exist in
[50:01] the English language, [music] but the
[50:02] Cherokee have used this. is called
[50:03] shanteishta.
[50:05] Shantaeishta [music] means the single
[50:08] eye of the heart. It's the eye that does
[50:11] not see the polarity of the rightness or
[50:13] the wrongness or the goodness or the
[50:14] [music] badness. It's the eye that will
[50:16] discern safety and [music] fear, but it
[50:21] will never judge another being and it
[50:24] will never judge us. It will never judge
[50:26] me. [music] So when I can look at my
[50:30] past, my history, my hurts from within
[50:32] this [music] place of heartbreaking
[50:34] harmony, then the wrongness of what was
[50:37] done to me or my shortcomings uh of
[50:41] shame or [music] the the hurt that I
[50:44] felt, those all take a backseat. And
[50:47] what I begin to see and feel [music] is
[50:50] that the experience uh it's almost
[50:52] beyond words but the experience does not
[50:54] have the emotional charge that holds me
[50:58] locked into [music] the uh the the
[51:02] negative space uh the body chemistry or
[51:05] the emotional space [music] and it it
[51:06] frees me as I've said before it frees me
[51:09] to move forward in a healthy way uh from
[51:12] having [music] had the experience that I
[51:14] can't change. So this is where the the
[51:17] electrical fields and the magnetic
[51:19] fields all come into play. What we now
[51:21] know is that the heart has the strongest
[51:26] electrical [music]
[51:26] it is the strongest bioelectrical
[51:29] generator in the body and it's the
[51:30] strongest biomagnetic generator [music]
[51:32] in the body. When I was in school I was
[51:35] taught that the brain is electrical and
[51:38] magnetic and it is but it pales in
[51:40] [music] comparison to the heart. The
[51:41] heart is about 5,000 times stronger than
[51:43] the brain magnetically. and about 100
[51:46] times stronger than the brain uh
[51:49] electrically. [music] Now, think about
[51:50] what this means. We lived in an
[51:52] electrical and a magnetic world,
[51:53] electromagnetic fields all around us,
[51:55] [music] and we are constantly
[51:57] interacting with these fields. We're
[51:59] wired to do that. Our neurons are wired
[52:01] to do that. So, if we're going to
[52:03] interact with our electromagnetic world
[52:07] through an organ that is designed to do
[52:09] just this, it makes perfect sense. it
[52:11] would be the heart because the [music]
[52:13] heart is literally wired to interact
[52:16] with the world around us, not the brain.
[52:18] This is why sometimes [music] it's
[52:19] difficult to think through the solution
[52:22] to the problem. Whereas feeling through
[52:24] the solution of the problem is a very
[52:26] [music] successful outcome. And this is
[52:28] one of the the deep truths of our most
[52:30] ancient and cherished spiritual
[52:32] traditions that is only now being
[52:34] understood by modern [music] science
[52:36] because the equipment is validating
[52:38] these relationships. When we look at
[52:40] [music] our bodies and what our own
[52:42] science now is beginning to uh to to
[52:45] help us understand, it is very similar
[52:48] to what our most cherished [music] and
[52:50] ancient indigenous and spiritual
[52:52] traditions have always said. What
[52:54] science is telling us is this is that
[52:59] the cells in our bodies that determine
[53:02] our health respond
[53:05] uh [music] to the chemistry released by
[53:07] the brain. And the chemistry released by
[53:10] the brain is triggered from the feelings
[53:12] in the human heart. What we know is that
[53:14] every moment of every day, [music]
[53:17] there's a conversation between our heart
[53:18] and our brain. It's a two-way
[53:19] conversation.
[53:21] Our heart is [music] sending signals to
[53:23] the brain. And based upon those signals,
[53:25] the brain releases chemistry into the
[53:27] body. When we feel frightened, [music]
[53:30] angry, hate, jealousy, rage,
[53:33] frustration,
[53:34] that sends a very jagged, irregular
[53:37] signal [music] to the brain and it
[53:39] releases stress chemistry, which is good
[53:42] for a moment, [music] but it's not good
[53:44] 24/7.
[53:45] >> Do we see that? Do we see that jagged?
[53:48] Because that's what's was another point
[53:50] of view like how do we know it's like
[53:52] this? [music] How do we sense it? Do we
[53:54] film it? Do we register, record it
[53:57] somehow? The answer is yes to everything
[53:58] that you said. There's an organization
[54:00] called the Institute [music] of Heart
[54:02] Math. H E A R T M A T H but it's all one
[54:06] word.
[54:07] >> They're based in Northern California. Uh
[54:10] I am not their employee, but I have uh
[54:13] [music] worked closely with them for 20
[54:15] years now. And they are pioneers in
[54:19] uncovering the deepest mysteries of the
[54:21] human heart in ways [music] that
[54:23] conventional science does not. So
[54:26] conventional science says the heart
[54:28] pumps blood. Well, you can make a
[54:30] machine to do that, but what else does
[54:32] our heart do? So the Institute of Heart
[54:34] Math to answer your question
[54:36] >> has documented this u uh the the
[54:42] information between the heart and you
[54:44] can actually see the information between
[54:45] the heart and the brain when we feel
[54:48] feelings of well-being, appreciation,
[54:52] gratitude, compassion, care. Then the
[54:56] signal is a very smooth rhythmic signal
[54:59] to our brain and our brain says huh the
[55:03] world is safe so I don't need the stress
[55:06] chemistry. So it begins to release the
[55:08] anti-aging hormones in our bodies and
[55:11] and powerful uh uh immune response is
[55:15] created within our bodies in the
[55:17] presence of this smooth signal. The the
[55:20] connection is called coherence. Heartb
[55:22] brain coherence and optimum coherence
[55:26] now has been measured. It's a very low
[55:28] frequency 0.10
[55:31] hertz.
[55:33] That is the language that whales
[55:35] communicate in the oceans. It's a very
[55:37] low frequency. So if we can create the
[55:40] feelings in our hearts for example
[55:44] uh of 0.10 10 hertz. That is an optimum
[55:47] connection between our heart and our
[55:49] brain. And that begins releasing the
[55:52] healing chemistry from our brain into
[55:54] the cells of our bodies. And this has
[55:56] been documented. It reduces high blood
[55:58] pressure, reduces vascular plaque,
[56:01] reduces uh the uh the the [music]
[56:04] chances for stroke. Uh when we are able
[56:08] to feel those kinds of feelings
[56:10] sustained over long periods of time, the
[56:12] immune system increases. The DHEA level
[56:16] is the precursor to all hormones in the
[56:19] body. Every hormone must have the DHEA.
[56:22] DHEA
[56:24] increases 100%
[56:27] from only 3 minutes of feeling the
[56:30] feelings appreciation, gratitude,
[56:33] compassion, love, while the stress
[56:36] chemistry decreases 23% [music] in the
[56:39] same time. And all we're doing is having
[56:41] a feeling. Those are the qualities that
[56:44] the body needs to begin to heal itself.
[56:48] >> There is a woman that comes into the
[56:51] room for healing. The healer is on one
[56:54] side of the wall. The woman receiving
[56:57] the healing is on the other side of the
[56:59] wall. The two women have never met. They
[57:02] have never spoken.
[57:05] The woman being healed has no idea who
[57:08] is on the other side of the wall. Time
[57:10] equals zero.
[57:14] This is the inflamed cyst on the ovary.
[57:19] 3 minutes later, look at what happens.
[57:23] Time equals 3.
[57:26] The tumor is shrinking.
[57:28] Time equals 7. 7 minutes later, the
[57:31] tumor no longer exists. It's gone.
[57:35] What's happening in the brain
[57:38] of the woman doing the healing?
[57:41] The scientists are scanning the brains.
[57:44] Let's look at the brain scan. The
[57:46] healing is beginning to happen. What is
[57:50] happening in the brain of the healer?
[57:52] Watch this. The left and the right
[57:54] brain. Something very interesting
[57:56] happens. Look at this.
[57:59] Look at this. The left brain, the logic,
[58:04] the thinking is becoming so inactive it
[58:08] doesn't even register. Look at the
[58:10] white.
[58:12] But the right brain links us with
[58:14] intuition, with emotion, with feeling.
[58:18] And look at what happens in the right
[58:20] brain. It's beginning. Look at this. It
[58:22] goes from the blue to the green to the
[58:25] yellow. Look at this.
[58:29] Now the right brain is really active.
[58:33] What's happening in the left brain?
[58:36] Not very much. That is the answer.
[58:39] The left brain is very inactive.
[58:43] But look at what's happening to the
[58:45] woman's body.
[58:48] So whatever is happening between these
[58:51] two women, the healer is not using her
[58:54] left brain. She's not thinking tumor go
[58:58] away. She's not thinking healing be
[59:02] healed. She's not doing that.
[59:06] This suggests she's not thinking much at
[59:08] all, but she has activated her right
[59:12] brain which is directly linked to the
[59:14] heart. The right brain and the heart are
[59:17] directly linked.
[59:19] So our bodies are designed to heal
[59:21] [music] themselves. And our own science
[59:24] now has shown every organ in every every
[59:28] cell, every organ in our body [music]
[59:29] has now been documented with the
[59:31] potential to heal itself. Even organs we
[59:34] were told could not [music] heal
[59:35] themselves. Brain tissue, heart tissue,
[59:38] spinal cord tissue, pancreatic tissue,
[59:41] all has been documented at regeneration
[59:43] and and healing under the right [music]
[59:46] conditions in the right environment. So
[59:49] the thinking of science is that the
[59:51] environment must come from a pill or a
[59:55] machine
[59:55] >> exterior. exterior
[59:58] >> uh our most cherished traditions
[1:00:01] always told us that we had the ability
[1:00:03] to to do this for ourselves. But science
[1:00:05] didn't really understand that. [music]
[1:00:07] And now science is beginning to validate
[1:00:09] that we may create within our own bodies
[1:00:12] through the power of emotion,
[1:00:14] heart-based emotion, the very
[1:00:17] experiences that uh that begin healing
[1:00:19] the the human body.
[1:00:20] >> Have you ever tried it on yourself?
[1:00:22] >> I will share with you a story.
[1:00:25] The answer is yes. In the year 2000,
[1:00:29] I went for an annual physical uh and my
[1:00:32] doctor told me that I had a growth
[1:00:34] inside of my bladder that should not be
[1:00:36] there uh and needed to to come out
[1:00:40] quickly. you [music] scheduled surgery
[1:00:43] and uh in the fall of 2000 I went into
[1:00:47] the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida
[1:00:50] uh and underwent the anesthetic
[1:00:54] uh went into the operating room for the
[1:00:56] full procedure. But here's what happened
[1:00:59] in between.
[1:01:01] Before I went into the doctor, I had
[1:01:04] studied all my life ancient traditions,
[1:01:07] [music] ancient texts in the monasteries
[1:01:09] of Tibet and Bolivia and Peru. And
[1:01:12] [music] I said, "Now, if I were ever
[1:01:15] going to apply these in my life, now is
[1:01:17] the [music] time." So when my doctor
[1:01:19] gave me the diagnosis, I said, "Give me
[1:01:22] two weeks to work with myself." And I
[1:01:25] did everything that I' I'd been taught
[1:01:28] to do. [music] But still I had the doubt
[1:01:31] in my mind. So I went to the hospital. I
[1:01:33] went to the procedure. [music]
[1:01:35] I woke up in the recovery room and the
[1:01:38] doctor said, "Why are you here?"
[1:01:40] >> He said, "There's nothing [music] inside
[1:01:42] of you to remove." He said,
[1:01:44] >> "You weren't operated at all."
[1:01:46] >> He said he they used a scope.
[1:01:48] >> Mhm.
[1:01:49] >> Okay. So they used the anesthetic, they
[1:01:50] put me under, they used the scope, and
[1:01:52] [music] the scope showed that there was
[1:01:53] no reason to operate. There was nothing
[1:01:55] there. He says, "Why why are you here?"
[1:01:57] >> Wow. And I I was still under anesthetic
[1:01:59] and I tried to tell him about what I'd
[1:02:02] learned. It didn't work. [music]
[1:02:04] >> You have the chance now. What did you
[1:02:05] do?
[1:02:06] >> Well, this is I think why it was good
[1:02:08] for me to have the experience because I
[1:02:11] had studied all of the traditions and I
[1:02:14] knew it was possible.
[1:02:16] But because I had the experience myself,
[1:02:18] I can look you in the eye. I can look at
[1:02:20] our listeners [music]
[1:02:22] and our viewers and I can say I had this
[1:02:24] experience and and I know it's possible
[1:02:28] and I also know that it may not [music]
[1:02:30] be easy because when our body has an
[1:02:35] illness or disease we [music] lose the
[1:02:36] faith in our body we lose trust and and
[1:02:40] we must work to overcome that and I
[1:02:42] think it's the greatest lesson for any
[1:02:44] of us to learn because once we discover
[1:02:47] that we have that ability
[1:02:49] We feel differently about life and our
[1:02:51] friends and our families and we feel
[1:02:54] differently about our our relationship
[1:02:56] to the world. So I can look at you and
[1:02:58] and say what I did was all the things
[1:03:00] that I'd learned to do to create the
[1:03:01] coherence the heartbrain coherence to to
[1:03:05] heal the anger to heal the hurt, heal
[1:03:08] the frustration, create the coherence
[1:03:11] between my my heart and my brain to the
[1:03:13] best of my ability uh throughout the
[1:03:15] day. I did it as many times as as I
[1:03:17] could.
[1:03:19] And I I cannot say that is the only
[1:03:21] reason as a scientist. I have to say I
[1:03:24] think it was a factor in uh in the
[1:03:27] healing that that I experienced.
