[0:39] what to say about the undescribable
[0:42] ungraspable
[0:49] better to be quiet
[1:02] but i'm really happy to see all of you
[1:04] again
[1:08] it's really nice
[1:10] it feels a long time ago but then also
[1:13] not
[1:14] so
[1:16] strange
[1:20] i can't even remember when i was here
[1:22] last time
[1:25] but
[1:28] yeah still
[1:31] there is a bond or
[1:34] a connection
[1:45] and i'm really looking forward
[1:50] to explore this
[1:52] text with you
[2:15] and i'm happy that
[2:19] many of
[2:20] you i know since
[2:22] a lot of years and you're still hanging
[2:24] in there
[2:28] so there is also
[2:32] in myself i think more trust and
[2:35] capacity
[2:38] to go into paradox and
[2:42] contradict myself and
[2:45] leaving the evenings
[2:47] with a sense that
[2:50] i couldn't say what i wanted to say
[2:53] because i can't
[3:01] so the subjects
[3:03] matter or the invitation of this text is
[3:12] non-duality
[3:20] it is exploring the possibility to
[3:23] awake
[3:25] to awake from
[3:29] the illusion of separation
[3:33] to wake from
[3:36] the illusion of a separate solid eye
[3:41] to awake from the identification with
[3:45] the narrative self and all its suffering
[3:48] and struggle and
[3:50] aggression and violence and addiction
[4:03] into
[4:05] sort of awake from
[4:07] confusion into
[4:19] yeah what word one can choose
[4:22] many words
[4:24] also in this text metaphors
[4:28] the tibetan word would be rekbar
[4:36] unconditioned awareness pure awareness
[4:48] essence love
[5:02] your true self
[5:10] and the radical message in this
[5:14] text is
[5:16] that right now in this moment we have
[5:18] everything available to be complete
[5:40] so now when i say a sentence like that
[5:45] this very moment you have everything
[5:47] available to be complete
[5:51] don't try to understand that
[6:01] so the way to
[6:04] relate to these teachings and to this
[6:06] text is to listen with your whole body
[6:08] with your whole heart
[6:10] and to be curious about your response
[6:21] right now
[6:24] in this moment
[6:27] you have everything available to be
[6:29] complete
[6:40] just
[6:41] listen inside what
[6:44] what comes up for you
[6:59] if you don't
[7:00] refer to
[7:03] your conceptual mind if you don't refer
[7:06] to
[7:07] thoughts
[7:09] if you don't refer to what you have
[7:11] learned
[7:13] if you don't refer to
[7:17] spiritual
[7:18] religious scientific knowledge
[8:02] what does your heart say
[8:12] so something
[8:14] in you deep deep you know below the
[8:17] layers of all
[8:18] the hopes and fears be all below the
[8:21] layers of
[8:23] the identification what you think you
[8:25] are is there something which says
[8:29] maybe quite loudly
[8:31] yes
[8:33] i know
[8:34] finally
[8:36] finally i hear that
[8:40] or maybe it is just a faint whisper
[8:44] like a memory from childhood
[8:48] where
[8:50] education and culture have not screwed
[8:53] up your being
[9:01] where you
[9:02] were more deeply connected with your
[9:04] natural self
[9:21] so this is the way
[9:24] how to read this text
[9:29] your conceptual mind
[9:31] your knowledge
[9:37] is in this matter useless
[9:46] and this is the big challenge
[9:49] in this text
[9:53] to dare
[9:55] to have the willingness
[9:57] the
[9:59] courage to go beyond what you know
[10:03] to cut through it
[10:09] the
[10:13] this text belongs to a
[10:15] approach with in the suction tradition
[10:19] which is called traction cutting through
[10:24] cutting through through the
[10:27] projections
[10:28] stories
[10:30] identifications
[10:32] looking through
[10:38] and this is scary because
[10:41] even right now
[10:43] probably you notice
[10:45] that your mind goes into thoughts
[10:50] into discussion
[10:52] into trying to understand
[10:54] into comparing
[10:59] maybe into something which is completely
[11:01] unrelated
[11:03] maybe it is related what i'm saying
[11:09] so notice how deep your refuge is into
[11:12] thinking
[11:18] and how precious this moments are
[11:22] maybe even a split of a second where
[11:24] there's a gap
[11:29] and you're just here
[11:36] just
[11:37] this
[11:40] without referring to thoughts
[11:43] without referring to meaning giving
[11:49] and this process can
[11:51] go deeper and deeper and deeper
[11:54] because
[11:55] initially we are not even aware that the
[11:58] sense of separation we have
[12:02] is just a thought
[12:05] it is meaning giving
[12:07] it's a conceptual aspect of our mind
[12:10] which creates the sense of separation
[12:20] without that layer
[12:23] of projections
[12:27] there would be no reactivity
[12:30] there would be no violence coming from
[12:32] here
[12:34] there would be nothing here to defend
[12:38] because it is seen that separation is
[12:43] a projection
[12:44] a function of the conceptual mind so
[12:47] cutting through through all of that
[13:12] in other words this text is an
[13:14] invitation to
[13:27] it's so difficult to say anything it's
[13:29] amazing
[13:40] an invitation to discover
[13:45] who you are
[13:48] without referring to thoughts
[13:55] so who are you without referring to
[13:58] thoughts
[14:12] i don't understand this it's just a
[14:13] thought
[14:19] i don't know what he's talking about
[14:20] it's just a thought
[14:28] of course any memory
[14:30] connected with the past is just just a
[14:33] thought
[14:34] your name is just the thought
[14:39] i am like this and that is just a
[14:42] thought
[14:45] even
[14:46] i'm tired i'm bored
[14:50] i'm peaceful it's just a thought
[14:56] and i can see your eyes go there and
[14:58] they go there you looked into thoughts
[15:04] you look into thoughts
[15:08] and you miss yourself
[15:15] you miss yourself
[15:22] how could we ever think that we are
[15:23] thoughts
[15:26] how could we ever think that we have
[15:27] feelings because they come and go
[15:31] they change all the time there's nothing
[15:34] solid nothing nothing you can hold on
[15:36] and feelings and thoughts
[15:46] so who are you without referring to
[15:49] thoughts
[16:02] it's okay there no
[16:05] since we have not stabilized our mind
[16:08] through meditation or
[16:10] maybe we are not very skilled in that
[16:12] that doesn't matter thoughts can happen
[16:14] just don't look there look to yourself
[16:23] i mean imagine you could
[16:25] manage like for a moment not to have any
[16:28] thought
[16:30] you still you would be still here
[16:39] look there
[16:44] to that i am-ness which is prior
[16:48] to any thought
[16:52] and then
[16:53] realize that even i am
[16:55] is this a thought
[17:13] another way to
[17:15] describe this movement
[17:17] provisionally but
[17:19] it's it's a helpful pointer for
[17:22] some people is to
[17:26] bring attention back to itself
[17:32] usually our attention goes to thoughts
[17:39] but where does the attention come from
[17:44] what's the source
[17:48] the source of your attention
[17:50] which is also the source of your
[17:52] capacity to love
[17:54] to care
[18:11] so in this
[18:16] journey now
[18:20] meeting this text
[18:25] we become more and more curious about
[18:31] that which is thinking
[18:35] and not
[18:37] what's the content of the thoughts
[18:51] for this moment to become possible
[18:56] you really
[18:57] really
[19:00] need to get up need to get need to get
[19:06] you really need to
[19:08] let go
[19:10] give up
[19:14] this hope
[19:16] that what you are seeking is found in
[19:17] thought
[19:23] that what you're really
[19:25] yearning for
[19:28] is found in thought
[19:32] even if it's a wonderful spiritual
[19:34] thought a wonderful spiritual
[19:37] story to really give that up to have
[19:40] seen that
[19:45] i can have the most most wonderful
[19:47] novel in my head about
[19:50] reality and karma and how everything
[19:53] functions and
[19:56] and so on
[19:59] that's just the thought
[20:01] it's not going to
[20:03] quench the thirst
[20:06] it's not home
[20:08] it's not safe
[20:09] it's not a refuge
[20:20] instead this text invites us
[20:26] to take refuge into stillness
[20:34] into a non-conceptual
[20:39] knowing
[20:52] so one challenge with this text is
[20:55] our addiction to
[20:57] figure things out
[21:03] of course
[21:05] we can understand the sentence
[21:09] emptiness pressure parameter non-duality
[21:13] the nature of your mind
[21:15] rigba is undescribable and graspable
[21:20] we can understand that sentence yeah
[21:22] okay it's under
[21:23] it's it's ungraspable it's undescribable
[21:26] but what is it
[21:36] waiting for a conceptual answer
[21:39] reading another book another non-dual
[21:41] book
[21:42] another book about emptiness and again
[21:45] reading in that book
[21:46] it's undescribable it's ungraspable
[21:53] yeah if i've heard that before but i
[21:55] still haven't understood it yes it's not
[21:59] understandable
[22:04] but it's knowable
[22:06] even that is a bit
[22:08] too much to say it's knowable
[22:12] so that's why this is sometimes called
[22:14] not knowing
[22:34] the other challenge
[22:36] which we will come across
[22:38] in our being while we're listening to
[22:41] this text
[22:43] is our addiction to doing
[22:46] to fixing
[22:48] to getting somewhere
[22:51] our addiction to self-development
[22:55] our addiction particular
[22:58] to get out out
[23:01] to get from spiritual practice something
[23:03] for me
[23:12] to feel better
[23:15] to be more successful
[23:19] to be more healthy
[23:20] for me
[23:35] and i guess most of us here
[23:41] we have
[23:43] at least
[23:45] let go of some of the projects in our
[23:47] life
[23:49] in the sense of that we see
[23:52] that these projects none of these
[23:54] projects will bring us into completion
[23:57] none of this project projects
[23:59] will make us genuinely happy
[24:02] the relationship pro pro the
[24:05] relationship project the career project
[24:07] the health project
[24:11] so because we are old enough probably
[24:14] to have tried a few things and we have
[24:16] also seen our parents failing
[24:22] but
[24:23] and i'm not saying that means we give up
[24:25] all these projects yeah so that's not
[24:28] what i mean here it's just giving up the
[24:30] hope that they will bring us home
[24:33] that any of these projects will
[24:35] be complete and will us make will will
[24:38] will make us complete once we once we
[24:42] succeeded in that project
[24:45] but probably
[24:47] what we will have to confront
[24:50] when we meet this text
[24:53] is
[24:54] the spiritual project
[25:03] the progress of path
[25:08] the idea of training
[25:13] the
[25:16] the sense that
[25:19] i'm not good enough
[25:23] something is missing
[25:25] and that's something i can get in the
[25:27] future if i'm a good boy and a good girl
[25:29] and i do the steps and
[25:32] i do this and that and i do the 100 000
[25:34] of that and i do all these studies and
[25:37] then i learn tibetan and
[25:43] and
[25:44] this is particularly difficult
[25:46] for people who invested many many years
[25:49] into this project
[25:58] so
[26:01] when we work with this text
[26:04] and we listen to these invitations
[26:11] yeah be aware of those two parts of you
[26:14] the doer and the thinker
[26:18] how do they feel how where do they come
[26:20] up
[26:23] be curious about them
[26:27] make them part of this journey
[26:46] it could be that one of the most
[26:48] important
[26:52] orientations
[26:56] which we need
[26:59] when we
[27:01] make this journey with this text is
[27:07] an uncomprising
[27:10] intention to wake up
[27:17] and to wake up not
[27:21] in a distant future or in a next life
[27:26] but to wake up
[27:28] in this life
[27:31] and of course waking up can be described
[27:34] on different levels and there's many
[27:36] different shifts and insights and we
[27:38] will look into that
[27:41] but
[27:42] do you have
[27:44] an uncomprising determination to be free
[27:47] of suffering in this life
[27:53] meaning
[27:55] you have you have an intuition a trust
[27:59] that that is actually possible
[28:02] and not only
[28:04] possible for tibetans and for
[28:07] the special people
[28:09] but possible for you
[28:13] for the messed up you
[28:17] for the stupid you
[28:28] so an uncompromising intention intuition
[28:36] which
[28:40] when you feel into it you might
[28:42] acknowledge it as something which has
[28:44] been there
[28:47] since a long time maybe since childhood
[28:50] or as a teenager
[28:52] where the first first time
[28:55] a
[28:57] call
[28:58] awoken you
[29:00] a sense of being called but also a call
[29:03] from inside
[29:15] and then periods in our life where we
[29:17] don't listen to that call anymore
[29:22] where we disregard
[29:28] and now
[29:31] especially now
[29:36] because we enter this text
[29:39] we know each other
[29:42] we bring
[29:43] together as a group
[29:45] meditative experience into this journey
[29:49] enough knowledge
[29:51] enough practice
[29:53] we have done the groundwork
[29:57] we have done the lamiram we have done
[29:59] bodhichitta
[30:01] we have done
[30:03] kriya yoga tantra practice
[30:08] it's enough
[30:12] so now is the time to really
[30:16] get into that
[30:19] passion
[30:22] to prioritize awakening
[30:26] meaning
[30:33] liberation from suffering
[30:40] not liberation from pain
[30:42] not liberation from difficult feelings
[30:44] not liberation from
[30:46] sickness old age and death
[30:50] liberation from suffering
[31:08] and then not only that but liberation
[31:10] from suffering for the benefit of all
[31:28] so that is a very important orientation
[31:33] and
[31:37] if that is not available for you
[31:41] that's fine maybe it will awaken
[31:44] throughout
[31:45] the journey with this text
[31:51] or it will be rekindled
[32:02] so that's one point
[32:04] so like a general orientation
[32:08] the second
[32:11] trust your intuition
[32:18] and here on tuition again not
[32:22] up here
[32:25] but a
[32:26] a deep
[32:28] silent intuition
[32:34] it's time
[32:42] to rely more upon
[32:49] the quiet
[32:51] knowingness in your own being
[32:54] than any book
[32:55] any teacher
[32:56] anything what and what anyone says
[33:01] including me of course
[33:04] that's not so difficult i guess but
[33:06] but even
[33:08] texts like that
[33:12] rely on your intuition
[33:16] because
[33:18] the very foundation of this invitation
[33:21] in this text is
[33:23] the assumption that
[33:25] awakening is already here awakeness is
[33:28] already here
[33:31] nobody can give it to you
[33:39] it's not found in books it's not no
[33:41] teacher can give it to you it's not
[33:43] found in other places it's also not
[33:45] found in other
[33:46] life circumstances
[34:06] and it's also it's so important to
[34:08] [Music]
[34:12] listen to the whispers in your heart
[34:16] the whispers
[34:23] in
[34:24] in your capacity to love everything
[34:34] because
[34:36] it seems for me that the process of
[34:39] awakening is different for everyone
[34:54] so the third orientation
[35:03] is
[35:07] a willingness
[35:10] a ruthless willingness
[35:12] to feel all your feelings
[35:19] and to be
[35:21] radical authentic with that
[35:41] this is so important
[35:47] to make a commitment
[35:50] not only the commitment to awakening
[35:54] but also the commitment
[35:57] i
[35:58] will be
[35:59] radically
[36:00] loyal
[36:02] to my feelings
[36:07] particularly the unspiritual feelings
[36:26] one reason for that is
[36:29] i talked about spiritual bypassing
[36:31] before
[36:35] it's easy to
[36:39] for the narrative self for the neurotic
[36:41] self
[36:43] to use teachings on one non-duality and
[36:46] non-self
[36:47] just to
[36:49] not be who you are and not to be
[36:51] authentic who you are
[36:53] and not to be loyal to
[36:56] to
[36:57] to your greed to your addiction to
[37:00] to the many things which are
[37:02] coming out
[37:04] which you are ashamed of or
[37:06] or you not even become aware of because
[37:09] it's so embarrassing
[37:14] but the other reason is
[37:17] it seems that
[37:19] the indus in this processes of awakening
[37:22] where we
[37:24] let go of our defense mechanism
[37:30] that
[37:32] unfelt feeling emerge
[37:47] oh
[37:52] so this
[37:55] process of cutting through our
[37:57] projections
[38:00] into the experience of non-duality
[38:04] obviously
[38:06] is the most meaningful and the most
[38:08] beautiful
[38:10] the most relieving the most healing the
[38:13] most liberating experience
[38:16] but it is also the most difficult
[38:19] the most challenging
[38:27] nobody ever regretted it
[38:31] but actually some people want
[38:35] to think
[38:37] to check
[38:38] do you really want to
[38:40] do you really want
[38:46] to break your heart open
[38:47] do we really want that
[38:58] and if the answer is yes
[39:02] get over it quickly
[39:06] don't don't drag it along
[39:35] so i'm not
[39:36] expecting that we will finish this text
[39:42] i i don't think we are we will get to
[39:44] the title today
[39:48] and i i guess we will
[39:51] continue
[39:52] with that pace
[39:56] um
[39:57] so
[40:00] we can continue next year or
[40:04] if if we are not going through the text
[40:08] and
[40:13] if it's possible for you and if you find
[40:15] that
[40:17] connection
[40:18] with that text
[40:21] then
[40:22] regard this text as a life's companion
[40:28] you know something
[40:30] which you have
[40:32] around something you refer to again and
[40:35] again
[40:36] something which is
[40:39] a source of inspiration a source of rem
[40:42] a source of reminders
[40:46] and
[40:49] i said that before but
[40:53] don't regard this text as a source for
[40:55] information
[40:59] as a source for understanding
[41:02] we have covered that
[41:04] you know enough
[41:05] you know enough about the buddhist
[41:07] teachings
[41:09] there is not much much more i mean of
[41:11] course look tradition they go so
[41:13] complicated
[41:15] you can spend your whole life
[41:17] reading text and studying
[41:20] but most of here of us here
[41:24] we have
[41:25] received them basic teachings that
[41:28] that's it
[41:32] we do we we don't need to
[41:35] put 10 more the years of studying yet
[41:38] another lamrim text
[41:41] it's the same yeah
[41:49] so this text can be seen actually
[41:52] as
[41:54] your own buddha nature your own
[41:56] knowingness
[41:57] speaking to you
[42:00] now the
[42:01] the tech the the title of the root text
[42:05] which is written by jing milingpa in the
[42:09] 18th century
[42:11] it's called revelation of ever-present
[42:15] good
[42:17] revelations of ever present good
[42:24] i mean just ever-present good
[42:28] is a word to kind of you know
[42:36] it's like
[42:37] i mean if you would see this text as
[42:40] a source of information you would just
[42:43] read okay this is a tag this is a title
[42:46] revelations of ever present good so
[42:48] what's what is it about yeah
[42:52] but actually
[42:54] this is like a mantra which we can sing
[42:57] which we can
[43:00] dwell in not understanding i mean of
[43:03] course we can now discuss your
[43:05] ever-present good yeah so what's with
[43:07] the war with what's with the contra
[43:09] concentration camps not like that yeah
[43:13] have a present good
[43:16] and maybe this doesn't resonate with you
[43:18] so it's a lot about resonance
[43:22] so the the transmission happens through
[43:24] resonance
[43:26] not through understanding
[43:29] so maybe ever present good revelations
[43:31] of ever
[43:33] it's like for me it's like wow ah
[43:37] it's like revelations of ever present
[43:39] good
[43:41] yeah maybe for you it's nothing yeah
[43:44] but hopefully
[43:47] there will be
[43:49] a word a metaphor a poem in this text
[43:54] which will
[43:56] resonate
[43:58] with what is already awake in you
[44:05] of course in one
[44:08] in one way
[44:12] when i talk but also when when you when
[44:14] we read the commentary of ken mccloud
[44:20] there's all there is a bit of talk to
[44:22] the narrative self as well to the one
[44:24] who wants to know and the one who wants
[44:26] to do something
[44:28] and the one who wants to get something
[44:30] out of this for me yeah so there's a bit
[44:34] of that
[44:36] and it's also probably this one who
[44:38] brought you here
[44:43] but actually
[44:46] that's not the audience for this text
[44:49] it's just a bystander
[44:51] who gets a bit of
[44:53] candies
[44:54] uh
[44:55] so that it stays yeah
[44:58] a bit of hope
[45:02] yeah
[45:03] i'm i'm saying
[45:06] i'm saying there's nothing in you for
[45:08] there is nothing here for you but
[45:10] actually there is something like that
[45:13] yeah
[45:14] because it's liberation it's freedom for
[45:17] suffering
[45:22] it's freedom from suffering so the
[45:25] the
[45:27] the eye as a separate eye likes to hear
[45:29] that
[45:31] and stays around
[45:39] but this is not the real audience the
[45:41] real audience of this text is
[45:45] that which is already awake
[45:52] and entering this text
[45:57] is like entering
[46:00] what is connecting is
[46:03] listening
[46:05] to your own buddha nature
[46:08] to your own awakeness
[46:14] ever-present good is
[46:18] the translation
[46:21] can make lloyd choose for samantha badra
[46:26] the primordial buddha
[46:29] buddha nature
[46:33] so the title of this texas is
[46:35] revelations
[46:36] of
[46:38] your own buddha nature your own
[46:41] radiant innate
[46:43] wisdom
[46:44] and capacity to love everything
[47:08] this text
[47:11] has
[47:12] the capacity to be a bit destabilizing
[47:21] for example can mccloyd
[47:25] after
[47:27] he taught some of the retreats called
[47:30] trackless path
[47:32] he gave up to be a teacher
[47:35] he stopped teaching
[47:38] and he was a known teacher he was a
[47:39] successful teacher
[47:42] he could he could have
[47:44] done that for the rest of his life
[47:47] he couldn't anymore
[47:56] he still writes books he shares through
[47:58] his writings
[48:01] but he's not teaching anymore
[48:18] let's see
[48:26] so i really recommend you
[48:28] if you have not already
[48:31] ordered this book
[48:34] i have it on my kindle but
[48:36] it's because i travel so much but
[48:39] it's actually good to get a hard copy of
[48:41] this book so that you can
[48:43] have it around and
[48:45] just look at it and keep it as a
[48:47] reminder on your
[48:49] on your uh
[48:51] wherever you like to read um
[48:53] thinking this is uh
[48:56] it's worth to get a hard copy
[48:58] of this book
[49:00] it's called the trackless path yeah
[49:02] that's the title
[49:04] ken mccloyd gave
[49:06] to his commentary
[49:09] and
[49:11] we have a break soon so the original
[49:15] text is written by jing milinpa
[49:18] a mystic from the 18th century
[49:23] who spent most of his life in retreat
[49:26] what is interesting
[49:28] one of the things interesting about his
[49:30] life he is self-taught
[49:33] he didn't study so
[49:37] he's not like a scholar
[49:39] um
[49:40] and ken mcleod says that
[49:43] it shows in his writings he uses a bit
[49:46] more intimate a bit more direct
[49:49] not like scholarly loaded language
[49:55] and when we read this text
[49:58] keep in mind these are poems
[50:03] so what that means is
[50:07] now what a poem does or tries to do is
[50:10] to
[50:12] transmit an experience
[50:14] from the poet to the one who is reading
[50:20] and maybe you are someone who has
[50:22] difficulties
[50:24] to read poems
[50:26] maybe you're not interested in them
[50:29] because
[50:30] they don't make sense they don't make
[50:32] sense to the
[50:33] rational mind
[50:36] or maybe you're someone who doesn't like
[50:38] to
[50:39] look at paintings
[50:41] and just
[50:43] modeling at the experience and being
[50:46] there in a non-dual
[50:48] in a non-conceptual experience of the
[50:51] music or the art or the architecture
[50:57] so
[51:00] yeah it's good to
[51:03] to see that we all have our talents and
[51:06] and our
[51:09] obstacles
[51:14] so when we read this poem
[51:18] i
[51:19] i mentioned it already
[51:25] the most important thing here to be
[51:27] curious about is
[51:29] what is happening in you
[51:35] what is happening in you
[51:38] if i say revelations of ever-present
[51:41] good
[51:55] so jing mi lingpa is
[51:57] seen as
[51:59] an incarnation of another
[52:01] tibetan mystic long champa
[52:05] who lived in the 14th century
[52:08] and these two together
[52:10] they
[52:12] framed or they
[52:14] influenced
[52:16] the structure of the ningmah tradition
[52:18] of tibetan buddhism
[52:22] mainly i mean they are the two main
[52:25] pillars of the nima tradition
[52:30] and it seems that i don't know if it's
[52:33] true for this poem but
[52:35] that
[52:38] a lot of the jingma
[52:40] jing melinpa's writings
[52:42] are seen as
[52:46] the
[52:49] discoveries of
[52:56] therma's
[52:57] is the tibetan word
[52:59] mind treasures
[53:02] which
[53:06] the mind stream of
[53:09] long shank bar
[53:11] carried
[53:12] through the centuries until that mind
[53:15] stream embodies itself in
[53:17] the life of jing milingpa
[53:20] carrying this mind treasures
[53:22] in him
[53:24] and then it was the time for them to be
[53:26] discovered by jing milingpa
[53:29] but
[53:31] they
[53:33] are kind of written by longchang bar
[53:37] not written in a physical form
[53:44] is what in the tibetan
[53:46] tradition is called a turtan
[53:49] people
[53:50] mystics who have the capacity to
[53:54] discover these
[53:56] mind treasures these
[53:59] hidden texts
[54:03] but i'm not sure if that
[54:05] is true for this poem maybe not
[54:08] this poem seems to be more a
[54:11] spontaneous sharing
[54:14] of jing melinka
[54:16] of his experience of non-duality
[54:28] what makes
[54:30] this translation particular accessible
[54:33] to us
[54:34] is
[54:36] that it was translated by ken mccloyd
[54:40] because ken mccloyd is one of those
[54:42] translators
[54:45] who is more
[54:47] committed
[54:50] to
[54:54] transmit the experience which is
[54:56] expressed
[54:58] in the poem than being true to the
[55:00] original words
[55:04] which is also a valuable way to
[55:06] translate a text to kind of be a
[55:10] like a tight ass around what the words
[55:14] mean
[55:15] and to be true to that
[55:18] but
[55:19] of course in poems
[55:22] it's a different thing
[55:26] to
[55:27] to translate in another language into
[55:30] another culture
[55:35] uh a poem
[55:37] much more is needed than knowing the
[55:39] words
[55:44] and uh can mccloyd dares to do that
[55:47] based on his
[55:49] whole life of
[55:53] of
[55:55] priority
[55:57] prioritizing in that
[55:59] in that
[56:01] in that passion which i mentioned in the
[56:04] beginning the intention to wake up
[56:08] the intention to
[56:12] whether the willingness to make that
[56:15] knowing this particular way of knowing
[56:18] the main thing in his life
[56:24] so based on that
[56:26] he dares to
[56:28] transmit to us
[56:31] in his translation
[56:33] the experience of jing miling power
[56:36] of non-duality of our true nature
[56:51] okay so let's have a break 10 minutes
[56:57] and then after the break we will sit
[56:59] quietly
[57:00] i just got into talking
[57:04] but
[57:07] let's sit quietly after the break
