Lea Longo is a Montreal singer, songwriter and meditation instructor known for blending pop and jazz with Indian mantra chanting. She leads meditation workshops, chanting and sound journeys, and live-music events. Her YouTube channel describes her as a Montreal-born Canadian songwriter and artist, and she currently lives in Montreal.
Her musical roots are in pop and jazz. She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts with a jazz studies major from Concordia, and she was raised in an Italian community where Italian music and food were everywhere. She sings in English, Italian, French and Spanish. She spent three years in California writing songs, and her tracks were placed in the film Cheaper by the Dozen and in television series including Dawson's Creek, Party of Five, North Shore, Felicity, Summerland and Ruby. In 2004 she won the National Songwriting Competition at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, as Grand Prize winner with her song Ugly, chosen from 11 finalists and thousands of entries across Canada. Concordia Fine Arts also gave her its Artistic Achievement Award.
In 2006 she travelled to India, where she discovered mantra chanting with chanting masters. She describes that time as one of self-discovery that took her deeper into healing music and led her to add mantras to her pop and jazz repertoire. She believes it made her a better singer. She founded The Montreal Chant Fest, the first Kirtan festival in Montreal.
Lea has six albums: Miserably Happy, Peace Chants, Zen Voyage, Longo Lounge, Songs of A Siren and Buon Natale All'Italiana. Miserably Happy is her debut pop album and came out of her Los Angeles years. Buon Natale All'Italiana is an Italian jazz album of Italian-language standards, recorded with the Bourassa Trio in Montreal. Her music is on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms. She has performed throughout Canada and abroad, at venues including the Viper Room, the Bitter End, the Mint, Place des Arts in Montreal and MGM Las Vegas. Festival appearances include Bhakti Fest, the Toronto Yoga Conference, Illume Fest, Wanderlust Festival and Montreal Yoga and Chant Fest. She was the invited guest of the Federation de Yoga for its "Voice of Yoga" theme, and she has sung with the Guru Ganesha Band and with Deva Premal and Miten.
Her wellness work is built around meditation and sound. She offers private group meditation for friends, families and communities, and wellness retreats that combine meditation, chanting and holistic practices. She also offers corporate meditation, on-site or online, and chanting and sound journeys with guided mantra chanting. An online meditation course lets people practise guided meditation and chanting at their own pace. Her meditations are featured on Insight Timer, where they have been played more than 86,000 times worldwide.
Her sessions are for people who want to pause, breathe and reconnect. She designs them to reduce stress, improve focus and restore balance. Participants include teams in workplaces, families and friends, and communities who want a shared practice. She says her mission is to help people cultivate calm, resilience and lasting well-being. She also sings live at special events, and her YouTube channel mentions her live pop and lounge performances and live meditation chant concerts.

Worth Knowing
Lea Longo is a Montreal-based singer, songwriter, meditation teacher, and kundalini yoga instructor whose creative arc spans from Los Angeles television placements to mantra chanting and sound healing. In the 1990s and early 2000s, her original songs appeared on Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Party of Five, and other network shows; she won the National Songwriting Competition at Canadian Music Week in 2004 for her song "Ugly" from thousands of entries across Canada. In 2006, a formative journey to India and time studying with chanting masters redirected her entirely—she discovered mantra and the emotional and vocal depth it could unlock, moving her away from Hollywood song placement and toward healing music. Back in Montreal, she founded the Montreal Chant Fest, the city's first dedicated kirtan festival, and has built a teaching practice around meditation, kundalini yoga, and sound healing offerings both in-person and online. Her audience values her specifically because she holds equal credibility across two worlds: songwriting craft and sacred practice aren't in tension in her work, but deepened integration.
