Elizabeth Su is an author, speaker and creator of illustrated card decks, working where pop culture meets mental health. She describes her aim as making personal healing more engaging, one creative tool at a time, and she thinks of herself as a millennial older sister sharing the magic of self-discovery.
Her path began in Corporate America. After graduating from Tufts University with a B.S. in Quantitative Economics and Community Health, she spent nearly a decade in the corporate world, including a Silicon Valley start-up. Behind a successful-looking career she was burned out, anxious and battling an eating disorder. That led her back to school, where she earned a master's in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and studied burnout and perfectionism. Her Insight Timer teacher page also describes her as a women's empowerment coach and mindfulness expert, and a certified yoga teacher.
She brought that research and her own experience into two decks with guidebooks. The Adventure Tarot is a 78-card, road trip-inspired deck centered on Asian American identity and joy, illustrated by her friend Jenny Chang. Elizabeth grew up biracial in the Midwest and spent much of her life distancing herself from her Chinese side. After the rise in anti-Asian hate in 2020, she and her husband left New York on a road trip that became a 2.5-year journey. The deck grew from that time. The Everyday Millennial Oracle is a 48-card, Y2K-themed deck grounded in psychology, made to help people reconnect with their inner teen.
Elizabeth also works as an executive functioning consultant for teens and young adults, blending psychology, mindfulness and practical strategies. She has spoken at The Washington Post, and her work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Popsugar and Bustle. She is based in Los Angeles with her husband and young son.
