Elaine Cody is a yoga and meditation teacher and a physical therapist based in Pocasset, Massachusetts. She teaches because she believes in the physical and mental benefits of yoga, and she is passionate about helping people find the joy, healing and peace a consistent practice can bring, on and off the mat. Her classes have been described as fun and nurturing.
Yoga and physical therapy sit side by side in her work. She has been a physical therapist for over 30 years and often uses yoga as therapy for her patients. She teaches meditation, slow flow vinyasa, chair yoga, gentle yoga and gentle therapeutic yoga, sees clients privately for yoga lessons and physical therapy, and offers specialty series and workshops on therapeutics, gentle movement and meditation. She specializes in teaching people with injuries, balance deficits or physical limitations, using a gentle, hands-on approach. She encourages students to listen to their bodies and work at their own pace, and her aim is to make yoga accessible to all.
Elaine holds a doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons University. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Sanctuary Yoga Studio in Plymouth in 2013 and advanced teacher training at Down Under School of Yoga in Boston in 2020. She is also a certified meditation teacher, a certified Accessible Yoga teacher, a certified Fall Prevention Specialist, and is certified in Reiki level 2.
For Elaine, yoga is also a self-healing tool, one that keeps her grounded and calms a busy mind so she can hear her own intuition. Outside the studio she describes herself as a beachcomber, an avid reader and a mom of two young adults.
