Geneen Roth

Geneen Roth is a New York Times bestselling author and teacher who has spent more than four decades helping people step out of cycles of control, shame and self-judgment around food. Her work began with a question about her own suffering. Years of dieting, struggling and searching led her to the realization that the way we eat is not about food, but about how we live, how we feel, and how we treat ourselves when no one else is watching.

She has written eleven books, including multiple New York Times bestsellers, among them Women Food and God, and her newest book is Love, Finally. She has led workshops and retreats for thousands of students and has appeared on Oprah and Good Morning America.

Rather than focusing on calories, rules or weight loss, Geneen teaches a clear, repeatable practice of bringing attention to what is happening inside: noticing the thoughts, beliefs and habits that drive our actions, and relating to them with self-compassion and mindfulness. Her guidelines include eating without distractions, so that the pleasure and sensation of food can actually be felt.
