Descripción
The Wednesday Series is an online Buddhist meditation class offered by the Kadampa Meditation Center Austin. Each evening explores the deeper meaning of the prayers and requests to Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. It is open to anyone, and no experience is necessary. The classes are taught live by Kadam Noreen and held entirely online.
What to Expect
Each session runs from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm. Kadam Noreen guides the class through the meaning behind the Avalokiteshvara prayers, so that the words become something to understand and reflect on rather than only recite. The evenings are a chance to study and meditate on compassion within the Kadampa Buddhist tradition, from the comfort of home.
The teachings are drawn from Mirror of Dharma with Additions by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, a book of Buddhist instruction on the path to enlightenment.
Before You Go
No prior experience with Buddhism or meditation is needed, so newcomers are welcome alongside those who already practice. Because the class takes place online, all you need is a quiet place and a way to join the session.
To follow along more closely, you may want to have a copy of Mirror of Dharma with Additions and the Avalokiteshvara sadhana, both available from Tharpa. Having them on hand is a suggestion rather than a requirement.
