Acerca de Este Evento

Descripción

This online workshop with Deane Juhan looks at connective tissue, the most abundant and extensive tissue in the body, and at how it shapes movement and our sense of ourselves as living organisms. It is a two-hour live teaching on Zoom, suited to students of anatomy and somatics, bodyworkers of all kinds, and yoga, Pilates and movement teachers and students. Deane Juhan is an internationally renowned Trager Practitioner and trainer, and the author of "Job's Body: A Handbook for Bodywork".

What to Expect

The session runs from 2:30 to 4:30 pm Pacific Time and is taught through extensive slides and lecture. Connective tissue ranges from the dense, compact tendons and ligaments to the fine cobweb of threads that connects everything to everything else. The workshop follows three questions:

- What is the molecular and structural nature of this tissue?
- How does it work as the bio-mechanical medium through which all muscular lengthening and contracting becomes organized movement?
- What are its unique electromagnetic properties, which are the basis of the meridians, the organism's force field, and the energetics that connect spirit to the cosmos?

The aim is to develop new images and new language for understanding the anatomical, physiological and philosophical sides of the body-mind. The material draws on fifty years of Juhan's research and practice and is applied to somatic healing disciplines of all kinds. It offers perspectives that are not found in textbooks, and that often run counter to accepted opinions about how our organisms develop and heal.
