Ocean of Devotion Sound Journey

Ocean of Devotion Sound Journey is a sound bath at Flossmoor Public Library in Flossmoor, Illinois, led by Evanston musician Preston Klik. It suits anyone who wants to spend an afternoon listening, resting and letting live, meditative music do the work, whether or not they have attended a sound bath before. The gathering is held in a public library, in the south suburbs of Chicago.

What to Expect

This is a live sound meditation rather than a lecture or a class. Preston Klik builds the music in the room, and the session begins at 1:30 in the afternoon. His instruments include melodica, didjeridoo, Ocean Drum, looping, crystal bowls, Native American flute, wah-tube, rattles and drums. Layered together, they give the sound journey a wide range, from low resonant tones to light, shimmering ones.

Listeners are invited to settle in and receive the sound. For some people that becomes a quiet meditation, and for others a deeper, more inward state. Preston also presents this work as the "Ocean of Devotion Sound Journey" in studios, centers and community spaces around the Chicago area and beyond. The Flossmoor Public Library is one of the places where it returns.

About Preston Klik

Preston Klik is a musician from Evanston, Illinois, who leads live meditative sound journeys. He is known for combining many instruments in a single flowing performance, and he also offers the "OM Gong Experience" and gives lessons. His concerts are described as both grounding and transcendent.

His wife, Emily Klik, often shares Cranio-Sacral Therapy with attendees at his events. The two met in the garden at Unity Chicago and took the name Klik together when they married there. Unity principles, taught by Reverend Ed Townley, have guided them since.

The Setting

Flossmoor Public Library is a community library in Flossmoor, Illinois. A library room is a calm, unhurried place for a sound bath, and the event is open to the public rather than held in a private studio.
