Descripción
This spiritual retreat at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California, is called How to Progress in Life with the Four Paths of Yoga. It is led by Nitya (Hoa Tran) and Omkara. It is a week-long program for anyone who wants a fuller idea of progress than money, prestige and recognition, and who is drawn to the Sivananda yoga tradition as a way to look at what a good life asks of us.
What to Expect
The retreat starts from an ordinary observation: everyone wants to move forward in life, and we usually measure that by outer success. The organizers do not dismiss that. They add that we also need to care for our inner happiness, which comes from being closer to the call of our soul. The program is built around the four ways of yoga as paths of development, offered as a practical framework for living rather than an abstract philosophy.
It sits within the ashram's wider rhythm of yoga vacations and self-healing retreats. The retreat is an optional add-on to the basic yoga vacation or a personalized self-healing retreat, so you can fit it into a longer stay or build your visit around it. A single week gives time to look at what you are actually working toward and whether your daily life points that way.
Your Teachers
Nitya (Hoa Tran) and Omkara teach together at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm and lead several of the ashram's themed weeks. Nitya also leads the Ayurveda for a Good Life retreat and the Ayurvedic Massage Rejuvenation weekends, and Omkara leads the Meditation in Daily Life retreat, which focuses on observing the mind and listening to the inner intuitive voice. Both are also paired on the stress relief program From Stress to Strength. Here they bring that same grounded, practical approach to the question of how to progress in life.
The Setting
The ashram is a yoga farm in Grass Valley, in Northern California's Sierra foothills. It is a place to step away from daily busyness. Beyond retreats like this one, the ashram offers asana and pranayama classes, and satsang, which includes silent meditation, chanting and a lecture. Guests can also take part in the ashram's other programs during their stay.
Before You Go
The ashram describes this retreat as suitable for those who want to develop in life, with no prior yoga experience stated as a requirement. Retreats at the ashram are often open to weekend-only attendance or to the days that suit your calendar, but because this one is a single week-long program, it is worth confirming with the ashram how partial attendance works before you arrange travel. Since the retreat is an add-on to a yoga vacation or self-healing retreat, check how the two fit together when you plan your stay.
