Hollywood Temple Singers

The Hollywood Temple Singers are a year-round community choir at the Self-Realization Fellowship Hollywood Temple in Los Angeles, California. They rehearse devotional and spiritual music together, and anyone who loves to sing is welcome, whatever their experience. This holiday Sunday is cancelled: the choir does not meet this week during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and regular rehearsals resume afterward.

What to Expect

The choir gathers every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. to rehearse, and the weekly session is the heart of the group. Beyond rehearsal, the singers perform at local convalescent homes and occasionally at Temple events, so the music is shared with people who may not often hear live singing.

Newcomers can join any Sunday. There is no audition, and no one is asked to prove their ability before they take a place among the singers. Because the choir runs all year, you can start whenever you feel ready rather than waiting for a season to begin.

Rehearsals pause only for the Christmas and New Year holidays. If you were planning to visit on the cancelled Sunday, the next regular Sunday rehearsal is the one to come to.

The Place

Rehearsals are held in Lower India Hall at the Self-Realization Fellowship Hollywood Temple. The Temple hosts a number of other gatherings through the week, including group meditations with chanting on Friday and Sunday evenings and a weekly women's Hatha Yoga class on Thursdays in the same hall. A Sunday afternoon with the choir can fit easily alongside the rest of Temple life if you are exploring the community.
