Acerca de Este Evento

Descripción

The Hatha Yoga Sadhana Retreat is a week-long yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California, led by Swami Adiparashaktiananda. It is meant for people who want to move beyond occasional classes and spend several days in steady, structured practice of Hatha Yoga within the Sivananda tradition.

Sadhana means conscious, systematic spiritual practice. Its aim is to elevate the mind and to see the Self. This retreat treats Hatha Yoga in that spirit, as a discipline to be lived day after day rather than a workout to be fitted in.

What to Expect

The retreat takes its focus from the meaning of the word hatha. The "ha" and "tha" point to the balance and combination of sun and moon energy, and to the functioning of the right and left brain, the active and passive facets of our nature. Over the week, the teaching and practice work with that balance, so that effort and receptivity each have their place.

The retreat runs for a full week, which gives time for the practice to settle in. Rather than a single workshop, it is a stretch of days in which the same disciplines are repeated and deepened. Swami Adiparashaktiananda guides the retreat and also teaches other retreats at the ashram, including Meditation in Daily Life.

The Setting

The retreat takes place at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, in the Sierra foothills region of Northern California. The ashram is a working yoga community, and retreats like this one are offered as optional additions to the basic yoga vacation or the personalized self-healing retreats held there. That means you can build the retreat into a longer stay at the ashram if you wish.

Before You Go

This retreat suits anyone drawn to a disciplined, traditional approach to Hatha Yoga and to the inner side of the practice. Because it is offered as an add-on to a stay at the ashram, it is worth arranging your accommodation as part of the same visit. The ashram can answer questions about rooms, meals and arrival directly.
