Descripción
There is a particular alchemy that happens when your hands meet molten metal—when intention transforms into form, when raw material becomes wearable art. Forged Adornments in Silver invites you into this ancient practice of silversmithing, guided by accomplished metalsmith Marissa Perkins. Over three days at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY, you'll learn to solder, shape, texture, and finish your own jewelry, discovering in the process that metalcraft is as much a meditative practice as it is a technical skill.
This workshop is designed for seekers drawn to working with their hands, whether you've never touched a jeweler's torch or you have prior experience. The beauty of silversmithing lies not just in the finished piece, but in the presence required to create it—the focus, the problem-solving, the relationship between maker and material. By the end of this retreat, you'll have completed three distinct projects and earned the quiet confidence that comes from mastering a craft.
Held at Omega Institute's tranquil Hudson Valley campus, this three-day immersion provides the ideal container for both learning and renewal. Many participants choose to stay on-campus, enjoying Omega's nourishing meals and contemplative grounds, allowing the workshop to become a full retreat experience.
What to Expect
You'll begin with foundational techniques: how to work safely with tools and heat, how to solder silver joints, how to form and shape metal by hand and with specialized equipment. Marissa creates space for both technical precision and creative exploration, meeting students where they are. Each day builds on the last, with your three projects growing in complexity and ambition.
The workshop balances skill-building with confidence development. You'll work directly with gemstones and molten silver, experiencing the meditative quality of sustained, focused handwork. There's a particular satisfaction—one that many describe as almost spiritual—in wearing something you've forged yourself, knowing every texture and join came from your own intention and effort.
The atmosphere is supportive and contemplative, honoring both the serious craft and the personal transformation that unfolds when we make something real with our hands.
