Descripción
Imagine four days moving through wild terrain in silence, your bare feet learning the language of stone and soil, your breath synchronizing with the rhythm of the land. Earth-Body is a six-day healing retreat that dissolves the false boundary between your inner landscape and the outer world—set in the breathtaking wilderness of Big Sur, California, on ancestral Esselen territory. This is not a typical yoga retreat or meditation workshop. Instead, it's an embodied journey where attending fully to your own body becomes an act of Earth reverence, and walking becomes a practice.
Led by somatic practitioners trained in Gestalt tradition and contemporary eco-somatic practice, Earth-Body invites you to slow down, sense deeply, and recognize yourself as part of an interconnected ecological web. Over four days of backpacking through remote Big Sur terrain, you'll move through silent hiking, intuitive movement in nature, meditation, and earth-based ritual—all designed to awaken your felt sense of belonging to the living world. The retreat then returns to the sanctuary of Esalen Institute for two days of integration, rest, and community reflection. No prior backpacking experience is required; wilderness skills are taught throughout.
This is for the seeker ready to heal not as an isolated individual, but as a participant in something far larger than themselves.
What to Expect
The journey unfolds in two phases. Phase One: Wilderness Immersion (four days) takes you into the wild landscapes of Big Sur, where somatic guides lead you through:
- Silent, mindful hiking practices that attune you to breath, gravity, and sensory awareness
- Intuitive movement and embodied practice in the open air
- Guided meditation and contemplative sitting
- Earth-based ritual and ceremony rooted in ecological consciousness
Throughout, wilderness skills—navigation, camp craft, safety—are woven naturally into the experience.
Phase Two: Integration & Rest (two days) returns you to Esalen Institute, where you'll process the journey, integrate insights, and rest in supportive community before returning home.
The overall arc emphasizes slowness as a practice. Through attunement to your body's signals and the landscape's rhythms, the artificial boundary between self and Earth begins to dissolve, revealing the healing that emerges from genuine belonging.
