Descripción
Grief lives in the body. Sometimes it lives there long before words arrive. This five-day workshop invites you to tend your grief not through forced resolution or transcendence, but through the wisdom of your own body and creative expression. Led by grief specialist Barri Leiner Grant and dance movement therapist Kelsey Moro, Creative Grief Tending offers a rare gathering space where loss is met with gentleness, curiosity, and the transformative power of embodied practice.
If you've been sitting with grief for at least six months—carrying it, questioning it, learning to live alongside it—this healing workshop at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY (October 18–22, 2026) is designed for you. Rather than rushing toward closure, this offering cultivates a relationship of befriending your grief. Through gentle movement, breathwork, meditation, and reflective writing, you'll discover where loss aches in your body and where it softens. You'll create language for the wordless. And you'll access the quiet renewal that follows genuine witness.
This is a space for the spiritually curious griever—someone ready to explore loss as a teacher, not a problem to solve.
What to Expect
Over five days, you'll move through a carefully woven practice that honors grief's intelligence. Each day includes gentle somatic movement, guided breathwork, meditation, and time for reflective writing. The pace is slow, the atmosphere held and safe. Led by two experienced facilitators, the group creates what feels less like instruction and more like collective tending—a container where your particular loss and creative expression are both deeply welcomed.
You'll leave with:
- A reconnection to grief as a force of love, not pathology
- Embodied tools (movement, breath, grounding practices) to resource yourself
- Permission to let your grief take creative form
- A sense of the quiet strength that emerges when loss is honored rather than rushed
