300 Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training, Rishikesh

The 300 Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training at Tattvaa Yogashala in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, is an advanced yoga teacher training for people who want to deepen their Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and their teaching. It is taught in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, with Mysore style practice part of the school's approach, in the town on the Ganges known as a centre for yoga in India.

The school is a Yoga Alliance registered school, with RYS 200, RYS 300 and E-RYT 500 credentials noted. It was founded by Yogi Kamal Singh and has been teaching for 26 years, according to its own account.

The Teaching Team

Yogi Kamal Singh is the founder of Tattvaa Yogashala and the figure around whom the school has grown. Alongside him, the faculty includes Sunil Sharma Ji, who teaches pranayama and meditation, and Yogi Upendra Ji, a highly qualified yoga teacher. Swami Omkarananda is also part of the teaching team, and is associated with psychokinesis and psychic healing.

The Setting

Tattvaa Yogashala is in Swarg Ashram, near Ram Jhula, Rishikesh. Students can choose between a couple sharing room, a shared room for two offered on selected courses, and a private room for one person on the courses that list it.

Getting there is straightforward from Delhi, and there are three common routes:

- Fly from Delhi to Dehradun Airport (DED), then take a taxi to the school, about 45 minutes.
- Take a private taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh, which takes 5 to 6 hours and suits late-night arrivals or travel with luggage.
- Take a train from Delhi to Haridwar, 4 to 5 hours, then a taxi of about 30 minutes to Swarg Ashram.

Before You Go

Airport pickup is available for a separate fee and is confirmed once your arrival details are known. It is not part of the course price.

Applying takes about two minutes and needs no payment at this stage. A person at the school replies, usually within 48 hours. The school also offers an early bird discount of 10 percent for those who enrol three months before the start date.
