Why You Block the Love You Want: Childhood Roles and Congruence

Wanting love and being able to receive it are not the same thing, and in a 26-minute video published in October 2026, the teacher Aaron Doughty builds an entire argument on that gap. His premise is that a person can sincerely want deep, reciprocal love while running a quieter, subconscious program that keeps it at arm's length: a childhood role that once earned a parent's approval, a habit of tensing up around people where the stakes feel high, a reflex to fix others instead of staying present with oneself. Doughty treats these patterns as adaptations a child made to survive, not as flaws of character, and he offers a sequence of questions for spotting them. The video's central claim, and the spine of this piece, is that the love people chase outside themselves is already within them, and that attracting it depends on being authentically who they are.

Why Can You Consciously Want Love and Still Block It?

Doughty opens with a question most people will recognize from their own lives: if you want love, why does something in you seem to push it away? His answer is that wanting and receiving operate at different levels. On the surface you say yes to a partner, a connection, a relationship. Underneath, love may carry costs your nervous system has already filed as threats. He lists several. Love may mean regulating someone else's emotions and energy. It may bring up intimacy and vulnerability. It may feel like a loss of freedom or autonomy, or a demand that you repress yourself and become someone other than who you really are.

He also speaks from experience rather than theory. Doughty says that for years he was doing inner work, learning, meditating, and doing inner-child healing, and that money and business came comparatively easily while this one area of life kept meeting resistance. "Everything on paper was like, you shouldn't have problems in this area of your life," he says in the video. "But, for some reason, I still did." That gap, between what you understand intellectually and what still operates underneath, is the territory the video maps.

His summary of the mechanism is direct: "These beliefs and energies are underneath the surface. And when you shift those and integrate those emotions, you can then allow yourself to become an energetic match to love and connection." The implication is that insight alone is not enough. The emotions beneath a block have to be felt and integrated before the block loosens.

What Childhood Role Are You Still Playing?

The idea that carries the most weight in the video is the role. Doughty describes a child who grew up as the one who regulated the household: the kid who managed a parent's mood, or who absorbed the tension in the home so everyone else could function. That child learns something early and durable, which is that love is connected to managing other people's emotional states. Years later, that same person can sincerely tell a partner they want love, and still run the old job, because the job is what feels familiar.

This is why Doughty describes the block as subconscious. "So, very often people will stay stuck because of this dynamic right here of not recognizing that there is a certain role that feels familiar," he says. The familiar role does not feel like a limitation from the inside. It feels like home, even when it keeps you from being yourself.

He makes the pattern visible with a simple test of your body in different company. Some people, he notes, let you be yourself. With close friends he can be a little weird and say slightly strange things, and those are the people he loves to be around because they give him energy. Then imagine someone with high stakes, someone who reminds you of a parent. "You get a little tense, don't you? You clamp up a little bit. And then you stop being the real you." The result is that you come away drained and conclude that certain people simply drain you.

Doughty's point is not that you should never feel drained by anyone. It is that the drain can be information about a role. He adds a line that reframes the whole dynamic: "Because at times, the people you attract into your life will bring that out of you." In other words, the people who trigger the old role are often the ones who show you where the role still operates.

Who Did You Have to Be as a Child to Receive Love?

If the video has a single diagnostic question, it is this one. Doughty calls it one of the strongest questions you can ask yourself: "who did you have to be as a kid to receive mom and dad's love? To receive love in general?" The logic follows from the role idea. Whoever you believed you had to be as a child becomes the role you stay in, and while you remain in it you are not being yourself.

"Whatever this is, whoever you believed you had to be as a kid, that becomes the role that you stay in where you're not being you, and when you're not being you, it's very hard to attract love because you're not in love with yourself."
Aaron Doughty, in the video (06:15)

The question is useful because it turns a vague sense of being stuck into a specific character. The answer may be the peacemaker who kept everyone calm, the achiever who earned attention through performance, or the helper who never asked for anything. Naming that character is not the same as dissolving it, but Doughty's framework suggests it is the necessary first step: you cannot shift a role you have not identified.

Is Being Congruent the Key to Being Magnetic?

Doughty's answer to the attraction question is deceptively simple. Congruence means that how you think, feel, and act line up with one another. He argues that people sense congruence in each other immediately. Imagine him stepping up and saying he is feeling sad, or angry, and being fully honest about it. Some viewers might find that uncomfortable, but it reads as real. By contrast, a person who does not allow themselves a feeling and performs niceness instead reads as off, even when the performance is convincing. "Something can feel that something is off," he says.

The conclusion he draws is that magnetism comes from authenticity, not from perfect presentation. "When you are congruent to how you think, feel, and act, you are magnetic and attractive. Even if you're feeling sad." He returns to a line he says the self-help world has repeated for years, and argues it is true in a way people rarely take seriously: "The key to attracting love is to be you."

The difficulty, as Doughty frames it, is that "you" is often mistaken for the pattern. The over-giver, the people pleaser, the person who performs independence, each may believe they are expressing their true nature when they are actually executing an adaptation.

Is People-Pleasing Your Identity or Only a Pattern?

This is the video's most direct challenge to self-image. Doughty says plainly that the over-giver is not you, and that the people pleaser is not you either. "That's not you. That's a pattern," he says, and he describes it as an adaptive mechanism "used to survive to manage how you feel."

"If you feel shame, fear, or guilt, you might not let allow yourself to feel it, so you could say this not you is this repressed energy."
Aaron Doughty, in the video (08:09)

The logic is that people-pleasing often serves as a way to avoid feeling shame, fear, or guilt. If you keep others comfortable, you may never have to sit with the feeling that you are unwelcome or unsafe. The pattern keeps the feeling repressed, and repressed feeling is one of the things Doughty says blocks love. The alternative he proposes is to let yourself feel those emotions and express your true self. He calls that a very magnetic quality.

He is candid about the trade-off. Authenticity may not win universal approval. "When you start being emotionally available, that may mean you start to repel emotionally unavailable people." For many people, that is the most unsettling part of the work: the patterns that once attracted hard-to-reach partners may stop working, and the discomfort of that change is part of the process rather than a sign it has failed.

Why Does Fixing Others Keep You From Real Love?

Among the blocks the video lists is the habit of fixing other people. Doughty says he had to learn this lesson the hard way. The pattern looks like generosity from the outside. Over-givers and people pleasers, he argues, often believe they are being selfless, but the energy is frequently about managing another person's experience so that you do not have to face your own. He describes that kind of constant caretaking as tiring to be around, and as a way of staying out of relationship with yourself.

The connection to the earlier roles is direct. A child who regulated a parent's mood learns to fix, soothe, and absorb. As an adult, that same skill can keep attention pointed outward, so the question "what do I feel right now?" never gets asked. Love, in Doughty's account, tends to arrive when that outward scanning stops. "It comes when they start being present with themselves," he says, describing how love often appears in people's lives once they stop chasing it.

He also points to a related cluster of patterns: looking for validation and approval, and in some cases hyper-independence, the stance of taking it all on and doing it all yourself. Each can be a way of avoiding vulnerability while still wanting connection. The video's practical message is that noticing these moves, rather than judging them, is where change starts.

Where to Go From Here

Doughty's video is best understood as a set of questions to carry into your own week rather than a fixed method. Taking his framework seriously suggests a few starting points:

  • Notice where you tense or clamp up. Pay attention to the people whose presence makes you feel you have to be someone else, and ask what role that shift invites.
  • Ask his central question in writing: who did you have to be as a child to receive love? Keep the answer specific.
  • Test congruence in small ways. Name a feeling honestly where you would normally perform calm or agreement, and observe what changes in the exchange.
  • Watch for over-giving. When you find yourself fixing someone else's feelings, check whether you are avoiding your own.
  • Expect some friction. If you become more emotionally available, Doughty warns, some people who were comfortable with the old version of you may fall away.

The video runs about 26 minutes and is organized into chapters covering the childhood roles, validation-seeking, what emotions you may be avoiding, and a "frame technique" for reclaiming your energy, which is worth watching in full because the summary above only touches the ideas. What the talk offers, at its core, is a reframing: the block to love is rarely a lack of desire. It is more often a loyalty to a role that once kept you safe, and the work is to recognize that role clearly enough that you can begin, gradually, to be the person you were trying to become all along.

[0:00] Why is it on one hand you can

[0:02] consciously want love and on the other

[0:04] hand you can subconsciously completely

[0:06] block it from coming into your life?

[0:09] Like you might want to attract love but

[0:11] at the same time love may mean you need

[0:14] to regulate someone else's emotion and

[0:16] energy.

[0:18] To be in a loving relationship might

[0:19] mean intimacy stuff comes up for you.

[0:21] Vulnerability comes up for you. And you

[0:24] might be like, well, and it might mean

[0:26] loss of freedom.

[0:27] It might mean you're going to lose your

[0:29] autonomy. You have to repress yourself.

[0:31] You have to be someone other than who

[0:33] you really are.

[0:35] You see subconsciously these beliefs and

[0:37] energies are underneath the surface.

[0:39] And when you shift those and integrate

[0:42] those emotions, you can then allow

[0:44] yourself to become an energetic match to

[0:46] love and connection.

[0:48] So in this video, I'm going to show you

[0:50] how to become aware of your subconscious

[0:52] patterns and blocks around attracting

[0:54] deep healthy reciprocal love so that you

[0:57] can either go deeper in your

[0:58] relationship or you can attract love in

[1:00] general or you can just stop abandoning

[1:02] yourself and start loving yourself in a

[1:04] deep way. I'm going to show you how to

[1:06] create the shift to finally start being

[1:09] congruent to the actual magnetic you so

[1:12] that you attract more of that love and

[1:14] connection into your life as a

[1:15] reflection of the emotion you embody on

[1:18] the inside.

[1:20] For many people I'd say, "Hey, do you

[1:22] want to attract love?"

[1:23] And you might say, "Yeah, I want to

[1:25] attract love."

[1:26] But then I might say, "Do you want to

[1:30] regulate someone else's emotions and

[1:32] energy 24/7?"

[1:35] You want that? And you say, "No, I don't

[1:37] want that."

[1:39] But you see here's the thing. If as a

[1:41] kid

[1:42] who you had to be was the one in the

[1:44] family that was regulating mom and dad's

[1:47] emotions

[1:48] or regulating the tension in the

[1:50] household

[1:51] the way in which you relate to love may

[1:55] be that you believe your role

[1:58] is to regulate someone else's emotion.

[2:01] So, on one hand, this is why you can

[2:02] consciously want love,

[2:05] but subconsciously completely block it

[2:07] from coming into your life.

[2:10] So, in this video, I'm going to show you

[2:12] how to remove your subconscious blocks

[2:15] to attracting love,

[2:17] and how this will expedite the process

[2:19] of you either attracting love into your

[2:21] life or going deeper in your

[2:23] relationships.

[2:25] Okay, so first off, let me say that in

[2:27] my own life, this was something that was

[2:29] would really boggle my mind.

[2:32] It was like I was doing the inner work,

[2:34] I was learning and doing meditations and

[2:37] inner child healing.

[2:38] Everything on paper was like, you

[2:40] shouldn't have problems in this area of

[2:41] your life.

[2:43] But, for some reason, I still did.

[2:45] I'd be like, this is a challenging area

[2:47] of my life.

[2:49] And for years it was. It was like money

[2:52] was something that was a lot easier for

[2:53] me, business was something that was a

[2:55] lot easier for me, but on this hand over

[2:57] here, it was like this there's

[2:59] resistance here.

[3:01] And the subconscious patterns that were

[3:04] underneath the surface

[3:06] was something I was aware of, but I was

[3:07] like, how do I actually shift these

[3:09] things?

[3:10] So,

[3:11] very often people will stay stuck

[3:13] because of this dynamic right here of

[3:16] not recognizing

[3:18] that there is a certain role that feels

[3:21] familiar.

[3:22] So, I realized there is a role

[3:25] that feels familiar from childhood

[3:28] that subconsciously there underneath the

[3:30] surface

[3:32] that will keep you in the pattern being

[3:34] not you.

[3:37] You know, it's it's interesting, too,

[3:38] because the love that you want to

[3:40] attract on the outside

[3:43] is actually already inside.

[3:46] >> [snorts]

[3:47] >> But, we search for it on the outside,

[3:50] and we project importance to it being on

[3:53] the outside.

[3:55] And therefore, we don't allow ourselves

[3:57] to feel it now, which when we're not

[3:59] feeling it now, we only experience a

[4:01] reality as equal to that lack.

[4:04] So for me, for a long time, you know,

[4:06] it's funny, love comes into people's

[4:09] lives so often when they stop looking

[4:11] for it.

[4:13] It comes when they start being present

[4:15] with themselves.

[4:16] It comes when they begin to actually

[4:18] resolve

[4:19] >> [clears throat]

[4:20] >> the unresolved energy that's underneath

[4:21] the surface.

[4:24] So, one of the first things you want to

[4:25] ask yourself if you think that you're

[4:27] subconsciously blocking love

[4:29] is are there certain roles under the

[4:33] surface

[4:35] that are causing you to stay not being

[4:37] you.

[4:38] Now, think about this for a minute

[4:40] because this might be an unlock for you.

[4:42] There's certain people you're around

[4:44] that when you're around, you just give

[4:45] yourself permission to be you.

[4:48] I know my best friends, people close to

[4:51] me in my life, it's like, I can just be

[4:52] myself. I can be a little bit weird. I

[4:55] can say kind of weird things.

[4:57] And those people are people that I love

[4:59] to be around because it gives me energy

[5:01] to be around them.

[5:03] But then

[5:05] imagine somebody that the stakes are

[5:08] high.

[5:09] Imagine somebody that reminds you of

[5:11] your mommy or dad.

[5:13] And then when you're around them, what

[5:14] happens?

[5:15] You get a little tense, don't you?

[5:17] You get a little tense, you kind of

[5:18] clamp up a little bit. And then you stop

[5:22] being the real you.

[5:24] You stop expressing yourself

[5:25] authentically.

[5:27] Vulnerably.

[5:28] And what happens is then you feel

[5:29] drained being around them. You go,

[5:30] "These people drain me. These people I

[5:32] like to be around."

[5:34] And on one hand, it can be true that

[5:36] there's certain people that you are more

[5:38] enjoy being around. On the other hand,

[5:40] there's an opportunity to give yourself

[5:42] permission to be the real authentic you

[5:45] even when you're around people where the

[5:47] stakes feel high.

[5:51] Because at times, the people you attract

[5:53] into your life

[5:55] will

[5:56] bring that out of you. Those those

[5:58] patterns out of you of you feeling like

[6:00] you're on eggshells, or whatever those

[6:01] patterns are.

[6:03] But remember, when you're in a role,

[6:05] you're not really being you, which is

[6:06] the love and the joy and the play that

[6:08] you naturally are.

[6:11] And therefore, you stay blocked.

[6:13] You stay in the role.

[6:16] So, when we talk about role, one of the

[6:17] strongest uh questions you can ask

[6:19] yourself, and I share this in a lot of

[6:21] my videos, is who did you have to be

[6:25] as a kid

[6:31] to receive mom and dad's love?

[6:35] To receive love in general.

[6:37] Who did you have to be as a kid to

[6:38] receive love?

[6:40] Begin to ask yourself this question.

[6:46] Because whatever

[6:48] this is,

[6:50] whoever you believed you had to be as a

[6:51] kid, that becomes the role that you stay

[6:54] in where you're not being you,

[6:57] and

[6:58] when you're not being you, it's very

[6:59] hard to attract love because you're not

[7:01] in love with yourself. You're not

[7:03] connected and congruent to yourself.

[7:08] You know, it's interesting if we talk

[7:09] for a moment about this idea of

[7:10] congruence.

[7:14] When you are congruent to how you think,

[7:16] feel, and act, you are magnetic and

[7:18] attractive.

[7:19] Even if you're feeling sad.

[7:21] Like if some if I were to get up here

[7:23] and be, "You know what? Right now I'm

[7:24] feeling kind of sad."

[7:26] Or I'm feeling kind of angry right now.

[7:29] Whichever those of emotions when I'm

[7:31] when I'm congruent to how I'm feeling,

[7:33] you watching that are going to be like,

[7:35] "Ugh, disgusting." Like, "Oh, that's how

[7:37] he's feeling."

[7:39] But somebody that comes up that's like,

[7:40] "I don't feel this way, and I won't give

[7:42] myself permission and I'll just pretend

[7:44] to be really nice. That's not very

[7:45] congruent.

[7:47] Something can feel that something is

[7:49] off.

[7:52] So, one of the most important things to

[7:53] understand when it comes to attracting

[7:55] love is it's actually the thing that

[7:57] we've been told for years

[8:02] that's actually true.

[8:04] The key to attracting love is to be you.

[8:10] Now, where it gets tricky is you might

[8:11] think you is the pattern from childhood.

[8:15] You might think you is the over giver.

[8:18] That's not you.

[8:20] That's not you.

[8:21] That's a pattern.

[8:23] You might think it's the people pleaser.

[8:26] Once again,

[8:28] that's not you.

[8:30] That's a pattern and adapt an adaptive

[8:32] mechanism that is used to survive to

[8:34] manage how you feel.

[8:38] Because if you feel shame, fear, or

[8:39] guilt, you might not let allow yourself

[8:41] to feel it, so you could say this not

[8:43] you is this repressed energy.

[8:51] Repressed energy. If you let yourself

[8:53] feel shame, fear, or guilt, if you

[8:55] express the true self, that is a very

[8:57] magnetic quality.

[8:59] It may not mean that everybody likes it

[9:00] and everybody wants to be around it.

[9:03] Because when you start being emotionally

[9:04] available, that may mean you start to

[9:06] repel emotionally unavailable people.

[9:09] That's not a bad thing.

[9:11] That's a good thing.

[9:13] And what if in 21 days you could become

[9:15] the most magnetic version of you?

[9:18] Well, what we are doing is a 21-day

[9:20] magnetic love challenge [music] that's

[9:21] starting soon. Remove your blocks to

[9:23] love and connection. Remove your blocks

[9:26] to expressing the most vulnerable and

[9:27] authentic version [music] of yourself.

[9:29] Start to actually choose you because the

[9:32] degree to which you choose you

[9:34] >> [music]

[9:34] >> is the degree to which you allow

[9:35] yourself to be chosen in life, whether

[9:38] it's love, abundance, or whatever you

[9:40] want to create in your life. So, go and

[9:42] click the link below. Now is the time to

[9:44] join. It's the last time we're running

[9:46] it live, and I'd love to have you be a

[9:47] part of it. So, you can [music] click

[9:48] the link below, grab your ticket, and

[9:51] let's wire in magnetic energy at the

[9:53] identity level.

[9:56] So,

[9:57] when we're looking at this, who did you

[9:59] have to be as a kid to receive mom's,

[10:01] dad's love? You got a overgiver,

[10:03] people-pleaser, invisible.

[10:07] We've got

[10:09] uh self-reliant

[10:11] or the hyper-independence.

[10:13] These are all different patterns.

[10:15] Perfectionist.

[10:17] These are all like this.

[10:20] You might have certain patterns in

[10:22] different areas of your life.

[10:24] But, you see, these patterns are there

[10:26] as mechanisms to get you

[10:29] to not feel certain emotion.

[10:31] And then you're in this dynamic, and

[10:33] you're like, "Why is it so hard for me

[10:34] to attract love?"

[10:38] But, what's actually The key is you

[10:40] starting to be you, process the emotions

[10:42] that you feel, let the emotions be

[10:44] there.

[10:46] And as you're in that energy, you will

[10:48] be more emotionally free.

[10:52] And you'll be being authentic.

[10:56] So, let's look at this for a minute. I

[10:57] think this can unlock a lot for both of

[10:59] you.

[11:00] For both of you. For both of us.

[11:02] Authentic.

[11:03] So, here's the difference, too.

[11:06] Who we believed we had to be as a kid,

[11:07] one of the top values we'll have

[11:09] subconsciously in our identity is we

[11:11] will crave validation and approval from

[11:13] other people.

[11:15] So, subconsciously, this is why you

[11:17] might want something,

[11:19] want someone else to like you, want them

[11:21] to stick around, want them to text you

[11:23] back. And the more you want it, the more

[11:25] what happens?

[11:27] The more you repel it.

[11:30] Partially because that person is in your

[11:32] life reflecting back the dynamic of the

[11:35] unresolved energy from childhood.

[11:38] And a lot of times you might even just

[11:40] be misreading what they're doing and but

[11:41] you're still interpreting it as

[11:43] abandonment or they're not choosing you.

[11:47] Wherever you go, there you are. There's

[11:49] unresolved energy there.

[11:52] So I talked to a friend yesterday that I

[11:53] was talking about I had met this guy,

[11:54] had this great date, then he went to

[11:55] China on a business trip, and that now

[11:58] he's hasn't text He's taken 2 days to

[11:59] text me back. What do I need to do?

[12:01] Maybe it's not worth it, blah blah blah.

[12:02] It's like all this all this heady

[12:04] intellectual energy trying to figure it

[12:06] all out.

[12:07] But the truth is, you don't know like

[12:09] somebody might not be It could be

[12:11] someone's not the best texter. It could

[12:13] be somebody's busy on a business trip in

[12:15] a different country. It could It could

[12:17] be many things. And I'm not saying that

[12:19] it's not that the dude's emotionally

[12:20] unavailable not interested. But what I'm

[12:22] saying is when we go into the pattern of

[12:25] trying to fix it, we end up draining

[12:27] ourselves, and we end up repelling the

[12:29] situation because we're projecting all

[12:31] of this unresolved stuff into the space.

[12:34] So a question I kept asking is what

[12:36] emotions are coming up for you in the

[12:37] situation?

[12:41] It's like this sharp energy, got to

[12:42] figure it out.

[12:44] What are you avoiding feeling?

[12:47] Because every one of these patterns, by

[12:48] the way, is avoiding feeling a certain

[12:50] emotion.

[12:54] People pleasers are avoiding tension.

[12:57] Perfectionists are avoiding

[12:58] disappointment.

[12:59] Self-reliance or reliant

[13:01] hyper-independent people are avoiding

[13:03] vulnerability.

[13:05] Invisible people people that are want to

[13:07] be invisible and not be seen, they're

[13:10] don't want to be rejected or being seen

[13:13] as bad or shine too bright because then

[13:16] other people will feel uncomfortable.

[13:20] What does it mean to be seen? You see

[13:22] the These are important things to ask

[13:23] because this is where people get caught

[13:25] up.

[13:27] Now, one of the I remember of the first

[13:29] times I ever saw the book How to Break

[13:31] the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe

[13:32] Dispenza.

[13:34] I was in a sauna at the gym in Vegas and

[13:36] this woman was reading the book and I

[13:37] remember seeing the title and I like

[13:39] self-development, but I was like I was

[13:40] thinking to myself, I was kind of

[13:41] judging it. Break the habit of being

[13:43] yourself? The key is to be yourself.

[13:46] And it's like, well, yes, it's true. The

[13:47] key is to be you, but the key is how do

[13:49] you break the habit of being yourself

[13:51] when the habit of being the self you've

[13:53] been being is the pattern in the role

[13:55] and it's not really you.

[13:59] For a long time when I felt blocked in

[14:01] love, you want to know what the big

[14:03] biggest problem was? Biggest challenge?

[14:06] There was repressed emotion underneath

[14:07] the surface.

[14:09] There was anger that was there towards

[14:10] my stepmom, my dad, my past.

[14:14] There was a role that was alive of being

[14:16] a people pleaser self-reliant person.

[14:20] And that role had me

[14:22] looking for validation and approval on

[14:23] the outside. It had me abandoning

[14:25] myself.

[14:27] You could also say that these are all

[14:28] different ways of abandoning yourself.

[14:35] And when you abandon yourself, it's no

[14:36] wonder that other people abandon you,

[14:38] too.

[14:40] Because people treat you the way that

[14:42] you treat yourself.

[14:45] So, what was interesting is the more

[14:47] that I got back into the energy of

[14:49] instead of wanting validation and

[14:51] approval and wanting to ease the tension

[14:53] in other people's lives, I started to

[14:56] embrace and integrate the unresolved

[15:00] energy from childhood.

[15:03] Part of this

[15:04] meant I learned how to be in my own

[15:06] frame of reality. It's called stands for

[15:08] the frame technique.

[15:10] So, when you think of like there was me

[15:12] and then there was the energy of mom and

[15:14] dad.

[15:16] But what would happen is I would expand

[15:18] my energy field to include them and then

[15:20] when I'm dating someone, it was the same

[15:22] thing.

[15:24] Who do I need to be

[15:26] to fix or help or whatever with mom and

[15:27] dad?

[15:28] And if people felt tension, I would take

[15:31] on the attention as the tension as my

[15:33] own. I would feel responsible for it. I

[15:35] would not want disapproval.

[15:38] I would want people to feel good.

[15:41] But you see, here's the thing that you

[15:43] want to recognize about all of this.

[15:46] What is the energy to integrate here?

[15:50] Because for me, I had to learn to let

[15:52] people sit with tension.

[15:54] I had to learn that being authentic was

[15:56] key because then as I loved and

[15:58] respected myself, I allowed other people

[16:01] to actually see the real me.

[16:05] So it's like we can sometimes think that

[16:07] by being this version of ourselves,

[16:09] we're actually being compassionate and

[16:11] loving

[16:12] because also we might be enabling

[16:13] people.

[16:15] Cuz think about what patterns attract

[16:17] certain people in your life.

[16:20] Very important question to ask.

[16:22] Because if you're subconsciously

[16:23] blocking yourself to love, you might be

[16:25] like, why do I attract emotionally

[16:26] unavailable people? Why do I attract

[16:28] people who take a lot, who are entitled?

[16:31] Well, what pattern are you embodying?

[16:34] Remember,

[16:35] you have patterns, but you're not your

[16:36] patterns.

[16:38] You can let these patterns go.

[16:40] I let the pattern go of people pleasing

[16:42] and became more authentic and

[16:43] vulnerable.

[16:45] I let go of self-reliance

[16:48] and then started to be more of someone

[16:49] that could connect with people and be

[16:50] vulnerable and have more play in my

[16:52] life.

[16:55] These are different things that like you

[16:57] you are not stuck in your pattern.

[17:00] It might be familiar,

[17:01] but be aware of like who do over givers

[17:03] who do over givers attract?

[17:06] Might be like, oh, takers.

[17:08] Who do people pleasers attract?

[17:11] People who want to be pleased.

[17:13] People who are in the pattern

[17:15] of uh

[17:16] that easy to disappoint. You don't want

[17:18] to disappoint them.

[17:19] You might stick around people where it's

[17:21] way after

[17:23] it's run its course, but you stay around

[17:24] cuz you don't want them to feel tension.

[17:27] Being invisible, you might attract very

[17:29] loud people.

[17:31] Might attract people that you just fall

[17:32] into their frame. You're not stepping

[17:34] into leadership in your life.

[17:36] Self-reliance, you might attract people

[17:38] that feel like you're the strong one and

[17:39] they always attracted to you and you you

[17:40] take it all and you do it all yourself.

[17:44] Can you see that these patterns These

[17:45] patterns attract certain people into

[17:47] your life, but very often

[17:51] they may not attract deep

[17:53] reciprocal love.

[17:56] Or you might not be able to transform a

[17:58] certain pattern in your life or a person

[18:00] in your life to the deeper levels

[18:01] because the pattern is actually blocking

[18:04] love in your life. Now,

[18:06] remember,

[18:07] love is in you.

[18:09] It's only when we keep trying to get it

[18:11] for who we believe we need to be that we

[18:12] keep abandoning ourselves.

[18:16] So, for me, back when I began to shed

[18:18] the pattern of people pleasing, that

[18:21] meant letting people sit with tension,

[18:23] but being authentic and expressive.

[18:27] I think of when I went on a a date one

[18:28] of the first times I met

[18:30] someone I ended up dating for a while

[18:32] and um I remember this person was vegan

[18:35] and I was meeting up with them and I'd

[18:37] recently gone out of being vegan and I

[18:40] was almost afraid. I was like debating

[18:41] like do I share and kind of like just

[18:43] eat vegan with them and kind of

[18:45] like like let go of my frame just to be

[18:48] relatable and what if they don't like

[18:50] that? What if it's like we we don't have

[18:51] the same values and then we don't like

[18:52] each other?

[18:53] All these things came up, but I I

[18:54] remember I was like, well, I have to

[18:55] choose and be authentically me.

[18:59] So, when she came over,

[19:01] I had like a big chunk of bison, raw

[19:03] meat, just ate it raw.

[19:05] Show her like you don't you're not the

[19:07] boss of me.

[19:08] This is what I do.

[19:11] And she's like, "Oh my god, so

[19:12] attractive."

[19:14] Or she's like, "Oh my god, that's so not

[19:15] good."

[19:17] But of course of course I'm being

[19:18] sarcastic here. But I was like, "I need

[19:20] to be bold. I just need to be myself."

[19:22] So at certain points like, "Oh, wait. I

[19:24] think into dinner or something like

[19:25] that. Oh yeah, no, I eat meat."

[19:28] It was like not It wasn't huge deal.

[19:31] I was like, "Okay." It's like, "Fine."

[19:33] And even if it was like, "That's

[19:35] horrible. Blah blah blah." Then we would

[19:36] see that we don't have like

[19:39] that maybe we're not compatible if

[19:40] that's a deal breaker.

[19:42] Do you see what I mean? So it's like

[19:43] it's a win-win-win all the way around,

[19:45] baby.

[19:46] But it's only not a win if you believe

[19:50] that your job is to get their validation

[19:51] approval. But no one Why is it that no

[19:53] one is really attracted

[19:56] to the nice guy or the people pleaser?

[19:59] Because when the nice guy or the people

[20:01] pleaser is in their pattern, they're not

[20:04] congruent.

[20:05] They may think or feel one way but say

[20:08] something completely different.

[20:11] So nice guy is like, "Yes, you like

[20:13] this. I like this, too." And then people

[20:16] can feel there's something off with this

[20:17] guy. This guy is not congruent.

[20:21] So the focus here is on being congruent.

[20:24] The focus here is on letting yourself

[20:26] feel the unresolved energy from the

[20:28] past.

[20:29] Letting it come up for you. Letting

[20:31] yourself see, hear, soothe, and nurture

[20:33] that part of you.

[20:35] When you do that, literally everything

[20:37] in your in your life will begin to

[20:38] change.

[20:40] And this is something that I do in my

[20:42] programs, my live events.

[20:45] It's something also that we're going to

[20:46] be doing in the 21-day magnetic love

[20:48] challenge.

[20:49] So if you're seeing this video right

[20:50] now, you are able to join the upcoming

[20:53] 21-day magnetic love challenge where you

[20:55] can remove your love blocks and let go

[20:57] of this old role

[21:00] which it does include as well embracing

[21:01] what's called the dark side.

[21:03] Letting go of the emotion underneath. We

[21:05] do a whole hour and a half ceremony

[21:07] around love to release that energy

[21:08] stored inside of the body.

[21:10] And then wiring in this new magnetic

[21:13] love you. So this is for people that are

[21:16] single and want to be in a relationship.

[21:17] This is for people in a relationship

[21:19] they want to go deeper, or this is for

[21:20] people that want to stop abandoning

[21:21] themselves and want to begin to tap into

[21:23] the love that they naturally are.

[21:26] So if you want to join now is the best

[21:27] time to join. I'll go ahead and link it

[21:28] below. We've had over 5,000 or 4,000

[21:31] people go through this over the last few

[21:32] years and we're running it live for the

[21:34] first time in a very long time. It's

[21:36] going to be a very powerful group

[21:37] energy. Comes with live hot seat

[21:39] coaching, meditations, etc. Now is the

[21:41] time to join. Link below. Grab your

[21:43] spot.

[21:45] So when we talk and we think about this

[21:47] though, congruence, authenticity, you

[21:50] want to focus on authenticity being your

[21:52] north star.

[21:55] Now here's the other thing to look at.

[21:56] Very often you may enable these other

[21:58] people that you attract because of your

[22:00] patterns and you may think this is

[22:01] what's best for them.

[22:03] Like

[22:04] I um am fixing a lot of people and it's

[22:06] like why you might be fixing people cuz

[22:08] subconsciously you're seen as good.

[22:10] People will never leave.

[22:12] But you a lot of times will then keep in

[22:14] your life emotionally unavailable people

[22:15] who need fixing.

[22:17] You might think that by staying in the

[22:20] pattern that's what's best for them

[22:21] because you're being good,

[22:23] but being good to them might actually be

[22:25] enabling them to stay in their pattern.

[22:29] I had to learn this the hard way from

[22:30] like fixing people in my family. Once I

[22:32] became successful on YouTube, I would

[22:34] give people money, fix people's

[22:35] problems, family members, etc. And I'd

[22:38] be that's a good family member. This is

[22:39] what I do.

[22:40] And eventually I had to realize, oh this

[22:42] is actually enabling someone. This is

[22:44] keeping them in their pattern. This is

[22:45] keeping them from growing up. This is

[22:46] keeping them from actually looking at

[22:48] themselves.

[22:50] And now the thing is is when you do

[22:51] that, it's like a loving thing you can

[22:53] do, but it might also bring up stuff

[22:56] where then they'll see you as bad.

[22:59] So that's why we embrace the dark side,

[23:00] baby.

[23:02] You got to embrace the dark side and let

[23:03] it be okay.

[23:05] Let it be okay that people see you as

[23:07] bad.

[23:08] And realize it's not bad.

[23:11] We think we're being selfless by like

[23:12] being in the patterns, but really we're

[23:14] being selfish.

[23:15] You are robbing people from knowing and

[23:18] connecting to the real authentic you.

[23:20] You are keeping superficial

[23:22] relationships in your life and people

[23:23] that are reflective of these patterns.

[23:27] So,

[23:28] you're robbing people from that. Even if

[23:30] it causes tension in them, realize

[23:31] tension is good.

[23:33] This is also one of the biggest things

[23:35] that I think blocks people from actually

[23:36] having polarity in their relationships

[23:39] because tension is what allows, like

[23:42] sexual tension, tension in general, is

[23:44] healthy.

[23:46] When someone is in their own frame of

[23:47] reality and expressing their true self,

[23:49] that is attractive to somebody else.

[23:51] Maybe it repels somebody else, but

[23:53] remember a magnet both attracts and

[23:55] repels.

[23:57] People pleasers and over givers are very

[23:59] afraid of the repelling thing, but then

[24:01] they also block off their attract thing.

[24:04] Because everything's just kind of

[24:05] vanilla, baby.

[24:07] Everything's good. You like that, I like

[24:08] that, too. You don't really know who I

[24:10] am. I'm kind of a fluid spaghetti that's

[24:13] kind of all over the place.

[24:15] My job to make you happy. You happy, I

[24:18] happy.

[24:20] So, that's a that's a role. That's very

[24:22] tiring to be in that.

[24:24] So, you see tension tension is a part of

[24:25] polarity. But there's ten the tension

[24:27] that might be resolved on the inside

[24:30] might be what's actually keeping you

[24:31] blocked.

[24:33] It might be what's keeping you blocked.

[24:34] Okay? And that's why we're releasing

[24:36] this repressed energy is so so so

[24:38] powerful.

[24:40] So,

[24:41] subconsciously you might block love

[24:44] because of the patterns and the

[24:46] unresolved energy.

[24:48] And when you begin to integrate this and

[24:50] you begin to be the real you and you

[24:51] begin to be congruent to how you feel,

[24:53] you begin to see here soothe that

[24:54] nurture that inner child part of you.

[24:56] You begin to develop a new relationship

[24:58] with tension. You begin to let people

[24:59] sit with tension knowing it's not your

[25:01] thing to manage. You will begin to be

[25:02] become more free.

[25:05] That's what I did. That's what I've seen

[25:06] thousands of people do.

[25:08] That's what I've seen people do in the

[25:09] Magnetic Love Challenge, where literally

[25:12] people two or three months afterwards

[25:14] attract going deeper in their

[25:15] relationships. They attract they get

[25:17] proposed to. There's people in there

[25:19] that have attracted love. I've been sent

[25:21] photos.

[25:22] It's It's a It's a really cool

[25:24] experience afterwards because when you

[25:25] do this inner work, things on the

[25:27] outside begin to shift. So, with that

[25:29] being said,

[25:32] there's a video that I'll post here that

[25:33] has you go deeper. Uh it's actually a

[25:36] meditation that has thousands of people

[25:38] who've attracted love from doing it. You

[25:40] can read the comments and see what's

[25:41] possible. I'll go ahead and link that

[25:43] meditation right here, and I'll see you

[25:45] on the next one. Peace, much love, and

[25:47] namaste.

Aaron Doughty argues that conscious wanting and subconscious blocking can coexist, because love may trigger hidden costs such as losing autonomy, being vulnerable, or having to regulate someone else's emotions. Those beliefs sit beneath the surface and shape your responses until they are recognized and felt. Shifting them, in his view, is what allows you to become an energetic match to love.
Doughty describes a childhood role as a position a child takes to manage the household, such as the one who regulated a parent's moods or absorbed family tension. The role feels familiar even when it keeps you from being yourself. A useful clue is noticing where you tense up or feel drained, particularly around people who remind you of a parent.
Doughty suggests asking yourself who you had to be as a kid to receive your parents' love, and to receive love in general. Whatever role you believed was required becomes the one you keep playing. Writing down a specific answer gives you a concrete pattern to examine.
Congruence means how you think, feel, and act are aligned. Doughty argues that when you are congruent, people sense the authenticity and find you magnetic, even if you are sad or angry, while performed niceness can feel off to others. His conclusion is that the key to attracting love is to be yourself.
Doughty says people-pleasing is a pattern, not your identity. He describes it as an adaptive mechanism that helps a person avoid feeling shame, fear, or guilt by keeping others comfortable. Letting yourself feel those emotions and express your true self is, in his account, a magnetic quality.
Doughty notes that when you become more emotionally available, you may start to repel emotionally unavailable people. The patterns that drew those partners in, such as over-giving or suppressing your needs, may stop working as you become more authentic. He frames this shift as part of the process rather than a sign that something has gone wrong.
Doughty says fixing others often feels selfless but can keep you from facing your own feelings, and that over-givers can be tiring to be around. Love tends to arrive, he argues, when you stop looking outward and begin being present with yourself. He says he learned this lesson the hard way.
