Lisa Axelsson is a yoga teacher based in Fornalutx, Mallorca, where she teaches group classes, private and corporate sessions, and hosts yoga and hiking retreats in the Tramuntana mountains. Her full name is Lisa-Annabel Axelsson, and her work is built around one idea: that yoga gives you the space to come back to yourself, so the rest of life feels manageable again.
Yoga was part of her life from the start. Her mother was a yoga teacher and taught a class the day Lisa was born. It took her a few years to rediscover it, and she was first drawn back by the physical side: flexibility, core strength, toned muscles and the acrobatic poses. After more than two years of practising purely as exercise, she noticed her practice changing her. Yoga began to show her what was holding her back, physically and mentally, and left her mind clear and calm. Since 2014 she has been a full-time yoga teacher in Malta and Sweden, guiding group, corporate and private sessions, before settling in Mallorca.
Lisa is a certified yoga teacher with more than 500 hours of training. She completed a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Alliance teacher training at Sampoorna Yoga in India and a 300-hour Hatha Advanced Yoga Alliance teacher training at AyurYoga Eco Ashram in India. More recently she earned a Pre & Postnatal Yoga certificate with Yoga Gro, and she has completed Leslie Kaminoff's Yoga Anatomy Principles course. She practises daily and lets her body and mind choose the style of the day: the intensity and self-discipline of Ashtanga, the creative flows of Vinyasa, the foundational wisdom of Hatha, or the stillness of Yin yoga.
She teaches Hatha, Ashtanga, Dynamic Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Flows, Yin and Restorative yoga, and Pre & Postnatal yoga, and she leads guided meditations. On Insight Timer, her teacher page describes a passion for mindful, connected movement classes, guided meditations and yoga nidras that offer a little pause from the day. Her in-person group classes take place in Sóller and Fornalutx, including 75-minute morning classes at the C'an Verdera Hotel in Fornalutx. Yoga mats are provided, and private classes are available on request. For people who cannot come in person, the Yoga With Lisa app holds more than 100 recorded classes, from 5 to 75 minutes, including mindful flow, yin, prenatal and meditation practices, with new content added regularly. She also offers private sessions at home or in the office, and corporate yoga in Mallorca.
Her Nourish Yoga & Hiking Retreats take place in Fornalutx and run for five days, hosted by Lisa and Jonas Axelsson. A typical day begins with yoga and meditation with a panoramic mountain view, followed by a seasonal local brunch. In the afternoon Jonas leads a hike, then comes a calming evening yoga practice and a dinner cooked by the in-house chef. The retreats also include a sound bath and massage. One guest, Carmen, wrote in a March 2023 testimonial on Lisa's website that you can tell Lisa and Jonas put care and love into the retreat, from the welcome note to the food, the hikes and the daily programme. Lisa also plans bespoke private retreats in Mallorca for groups of friends, families or colleagues, tailored to duration, accommodation, schedule, dietary needs and budget.
Fornalutx is a small town in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca, and the setting of both her weekly classes and her retreats. Her classes are open to all levels, and beginners are welcome. She teaches everyone from dynamic vinyasa students to prenatal and seniors yoga students, in classes she describes as open, friendly and challenging if you want them to be. Her aim is not to teach a handstand but to help people find peace and space after a stressful day. Her motto is "Be happy, Be bright, Be YOU!"
